Iphoto album wont post to Facebook?

I've uploaded photo albums from iphoto to facebook in the past but for some reason this time it will not allow me to select "publish" to upload (via macbook)? any insights? thank you

yes, sorry. I generally use the FB app.... However, I cross post to multiple sites using If This Then That (www.ifttt.com). Sadly they no longer allow tweets to be shared through facebook, so when I share useful information to my service users I have to post them to FB and then IFTTT automatically posts to Twitter (and multiple other sites) too.I use the pully down screen for quick and simple posting to make my life easier so I'm not swapping and changing between apps. It was working fine right up until the point I updated the iOS this morning (i was actually using it right before the update).
Am I making any sense? Sorry just a bit flustered because my iPhone 5 works fine after the iOS update but my iPad doesn't.

  • Any way to get iPhoto'09 to recognise existing Facebook albums?

Is there any way to get iPhoto '09 to recognise existing Facebook albums?
It would be nice to have all the previous albums I've uploaded to be listed in iPhoto and all the 100's of people I've already tagged would serve as a nice basis for the iPhoto face detection to learn who my friends are!

This is an interesting workaround, but misses the spirit of the original post. I don't know a way to get iPhoto '09 to recognize existing FB albums, but I agree that this is a serious problem with iPhoto '09.
The iPhoto '09 Facebook and Flickr uploaders have one "cool" feature - they automatically sync iPhotos events with FB "albums" or Flickr "sets", so if you make changes to the photos in iPhoto, then those changes are reflected in the photos on FB and Flickr automagically (this has been working for me in FB but not in Flickr). The more I use this the more I think it's more trouble than it is useful and I wish I could turn it off and just use the old exporters without syncing.
There are problems with the exporters:
    (1) the constant syncing with FB/Flickr can get annoying if you're making several changes, if you have a slow internet connection or slow computer.
    (2) If you don't actually want the changes to be reflected in the FB/Flickr album (i.e. i delete photos out of iPhoto to make room on my disk for more photos and now the photos are deleted out of facebook) can get not as user friendly as the original Facebook and Flickr exporter was easier and more user-friendly.
    (3) syncing is cool for a computer programmer to do, but what if users don't want it all the time? What if I don't want my Facebook albums to be exactly the same as my iPhoto albums, and I don't want to split out all the photos that I don't want on Facebook into separate events in iPhoto? This lack of support for the truly useful & user friendly (if a bit boring) features is a really unfortunate oversight.
(3a) in the old version: i can quickly and easily choose exactly which photos from which events I want to upload to FB.
(3b) as the original questioner mentioned: I can choose whether to upload to into a *new or existing album*. Hands down, this was *the single best feature* of the previous uploaders.
(in Flickr this is of paramount importance since the free Flickr account only allows 3 "sets" - so, since this fancy iPhoto syncing links your events to sets in Flickr, you'd have to create 3 massive Flickr-only events in iPhoto in order to stay within their restrictions. I like to keep my iPhotos events separate, but I'm perfectly happy uploading photos from different events into one of my three Flickr sets. i'm pretty sure i can still do this with FFXporter or similar.)
(3b) in the old version: all the photos i upload are put into a "pending" album on FB so that I can tag people, delete some photos (without deleting them off my own iPhoto), etc. before sharing them with all my friends. I'd like to have at least the option to choose whether they go into a pending album first or not.
(3c) it's further annoying that you cannot browse your iPhoto library directly (from most websites) when searching for photos to upload, you have to export the files first, then browse to where the photos were exported.

  • Iphoto albums on Facebook

I've uploaded a bunch of photo albums to Facebook using Iphoto, and everything worked fine.
However now I'm cleaning out my laptop and backing everything up, and would like to delete a lot of the pictures from my harddrive. I've noticed that if I do so, the pictures will also be deleted from Iphoto and in turn from my albums on Facebook.
Is there any way to make the albums I've posted on facebook through Iphoto permanent?

Not if you upload them using iphoto - as advertised iPhoto and Facebook stay in sync - if you do not want that do not use iPhoto to upload - use the face book uploader or just a standard web upload

After the update I get the message something to the effect of Album name cannot be assigned.  I have tried with and without spaces in the name and same outcome.

How do I post a slide show to facebook, from my imac.  I am using it was made on iphoto 11 but I cannot figure out how to post or publish to post link.  I also have slide show saved in itunes  Thank you for your help

    Export the slideshow from iPhoto
Then upload it to Facebook via their own uploader.

  • Does iPhoto '11 post to Facebook in High Resolution?

Does iPhoto '11 post to Facebook using its new High Resolution feature?
    (I haven't bought '11 yet so I can't test it myself.)

In my test, yes a larger file was uploaded. However, if you call this "high resolution" when it's still compressed smaller than it was, and almost all the metadata - including colour information is stripped out - then you've a pretty low setting for "high" resolution. Put it this way, it will still print very poorly.
FWIW, I had none of the issues described above.

  • Hi, how can I eliminate the post stamps on pages of my iPhoto album? Thanks for your help - regards - Claire

    Hello everyone,
In the subject, I believe I specify exactly my problem. I am using iPhoto but am a beginner. So lots of new things to learn.
I thus would like to eliminate the post stamps which appear on almost every single page of my photo album.
    Can anyone help me?
    Many thanks
    Claire

Hi Terrence,  you are quite right - looking further into the file, I notice now that I choose the wrong theme, one which has stamps on every single page. Thanks a lot for your help. I am now able to improve my work on my present iPhoto album. Regards - Claire

That is not a feature of iPhoto. If it s possible you would need a third party application which I doubt if exists

If you have no backup (unwise)
Stop using your computer at once (to preserve the data from being overwritten), contact a data recovery service and send your machine or your hard drive to them, I can not stress too much ... stop using your computer at once.
Did you empty the trash? if not they should be in there, if they are not go back to paragraph 1

  • Post to facebook wont work

    Hi,
I have installed the new IOS 6.1 this morning and since installing I am unable to use the "post to facebook" on the drop down/quick access notifications menu. Is this a common issue? Any suggestions as to how to fix it as I use this quite a lot to cross post to FB and Twitter for my business.

  • Iphoto shuts down when in Facebook folder

Yesterday I had trouble posting photos on Facebook from an Iphoto folder. Now, when I go into my Facebook folder in Iphoto with all my albums I have posted on Facebook, Iphoto shuts down completely. I have rebooted, checked for updates, and done repairs to the library data base. Any ideas of what I can do to fix this?

It's for my Mac Pro. I just went to an apple store and they're having me rebuild the library for now. Hope it works!

  • IPhoto crashing when syncing with Facebook

    Software Version:
    iPhoto 9.1.3
    Problem:
The sync between iPhoto and Facebook stalls indenfinetly and iPhoto will not 'Stop and Quit" the sync when quiting iPhoto, this leaves no other option then to force quit iPhoto.
    Details:
The four albums created for Facebook in iPhoto sync fine, a number of other albums originally created on Facebook that iPhoto is now trying to sync all report as pending (indefinetly). As the Facebook sync starts whenever iPhoto is launched, the sync reduces iPhoto performance and cannont be stopped with force quitting iPhoto, the problem is making iPhoto unusable. As advertised with iPhoto it syncs with Facebook, so I cannot just delete the albums in iPhoto as they will be deleted off Facebook.
    Things not responisble:
I have checked that these albums still exist on Facebook and (obviously) that my internet connection is active.
    Possible solutions:
I do realise that I could remove Facebook from the Accounts in iPhoto, however this isn't really a solution as all does is reduces functionality.
Has anyone else had the same problem or know of a fix?
    Thanks

Aperture is suddenly, repeatedly crashing on me whenever I try to sync to Facebook.
Has anything changed, directly before these crashes started? Could you ever sync to Facebook before, running Aperture 3.4.3, or have you just upgraded to AP 3.4.3?
If you could sync to FB before, using the current Aperture version, can you still upload to FB and view your albums using the web interface, or can you not reach Facebook at all?
Your crash report shows, that the crash happens, when Aperture tries to connect to Facebook to update the photos:
    3   com.apple.Foundation                    0x00007fff96d9e538 +[NSURLConnection sendSynchronousRequest:returningResponse:error:] + 60
    4   com.apple.iPhoto.FacebookPublisher          0x0000000118003047 -[ILFacebookAPIRequest send] + 61
    5   com.apple.iPhoto.FacebookPublisher          0x0000000117ffb227 -[IPHFacebookPlugin updateDistantPropertiesFromLocalPhoto:] + 318
But I cannot tell from the information you provided, if this error is due to corrupted images in your library, a problem with your Aperture Library, or a problem with your FB account settings.
It would help, if you could make a few tests to narrow the problem down:
Can you publish to Facebook, if you import new images into your library and try to publish a  different set of images?
Can you upload to Facebook, if you create a new Aperture Library for testing
(In Aperture: File > Switch to Library > Other/New) and import a few images. Can you publish to Facebook from this library?
If another library works well, you need to repair your current library. Please read this page in the Aperture User Manual: Repairing and Rebuilding Your Aperture Library: Aperture 3 User Manual
Post back after these test - hopefully we will know more then.
    Regards

  • Restoring iPhoto from Time Machine. However iPhoto albums are not transfer

iPhoto albums are not transferring. I just have a bunch of photos with no albums/details/comments etc. I have done a few searches in support and have found similar problems but nothing like mine, which seems to be that I have a back up of all my photos in Time Machine but when I open Time Machine, I cannot simply select a previous restore date as I have been able to with everything else so far. I have tried dragging the whole iPhoto Library folder to iPhoto but again, end up with thousands of pictures with no albums... Any suggestions? Thanks.
It seems iPhoto is backed up but does not have several backups in Time Machine.
    Using iPhoto '06

I think you may need to post this one on the Time Machine forum.
    http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=1227
In later versions you can restore +to the iPhoto Library+, but as v6 predates Time Machine it's not possible to do that. Hence you need to restore an entire Library and open it.

  • Screen saver no longer respects iPhoto albums in 10.4.8?

System Preferences -> Desktop & Screen Saver -> Screen Saver offers a list of iPhoto albums. It used to be that the screen saver would display pictures from the selected album only. But now all my iPhoto pictures are rotated through the screen saver, regardless of album selection. The only thing I've changed AFAIK is the 10.4.8 upgrade. Any way to get the old behavior back?
(I've found other posts about problems with iPhoto and screen saver, but nothing addressing this precise problem.)
    PowerMac   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   iPhoto 2.0.1

I just tried it, having also just updated (in fact I did about 12 updates all at once, including QuickTime, iPhoto 6.05 as well as the system update) and it worked as expected, just cycling thru the photos in the selected album.
I have seen cases in earlier versions of iPhoto and the OS where the screensaver wouldn't work when using System Prefs, but would it you selected it in iPhoto. Don't remember how the earlier version of iPhoto worked (I think there was a button in the toolbar at the bottom of iPhoto), the way it works in iPhoto 6 is very weird: you select an album, then select the photos, then go to the Share menu and select Desktop. It plasters all the photos onto your Desktop and launches the System Prefs where you can set the options for the Screensaver. You'll notice that instead of an album being selected there is a new folder in the top section called "iPhoto Selection." I then switched my Desktop back to its usual neutral gray and screensaver remained as I had set it. Truly goofy, but it might be worth a try.

  • How do you export iPhoto albums to an external drive and have all the albums still labeled?

I am having an issue exporting the iphoto albums to an external drive. When I do it, it either just drops all the pictures in together or it separates them by events, but my iphotos are arranged in albums, not events so that doesn't help.  Can anyone help with this?
Also, I'm new to mac and i'm noticing iphotos has a lot of limitations...I can't save photos automatically to folders/albums in iphoto bc it doesnt show in the finder, I can't upload to facebook without doing it from iphoto, and I obviously can't save to external drive easily just yet.  Should I just be saving all of my photos in Pictures in the finder? Is there a way you can save them in pictures and then be able to open them in iphotos? I'm getting so frustrated and ready to go back to my PC. =(

    A couple of general comments:
    1. iPhoto is not compulsory. You don't have to use it.
    2. But if you do, then you're going  to need to make a small conceptual leap, and learn just a little.
The Conceptual Leap: Your Files and your Photos are not the same thing. The illustration I use is as follows: In my iTunes Library I have a file called 'Let_it_Be_The_Beatles.mp3'. So what is that, exactly? It's not the song. The Beatles never wrote an mp3. They wrote a tune and lyrics. They recorded it and a copy of that recording is stored in the mp3 file. So the file is just a container for the recording. That container is designed in a specific way attuned to the characteristics and requirements of the data. Hence, mp3.
Similarly, that Jpeg is not your photo, it's a container designed to hold that kind of data. iPhoto is all about the data and not about the container. So, regardless of where you choose to store the file, iPhoto will manage the photo, edit the photo, add metadata to the Photo but never touch the file. If you choose to export - unless you specifically choose to export the original - iPhoto will export the Photo into a new container - a new file containing the photo.
The Learning: iPhoto replaces the Finder (or file browser) for everything to do with your Photo. And I do mean everything. Organising, Editing, sharing with other apps, printing, uploading, whatever are all done either with or via iPhoto. It's you "go-to" for anything to do with your Photos.
The upshot of that is that how (or where) the files are stored doesn't matter - as long as they are safe and backed up - because after importing to iPhoto you never directly access those files again.
So, you want to organise your Photos: do it in the iPhoto Window. Events, Albums, Keywords, and so on. You do all your work via that window or the media browsers that make the Library available in every app in the OS.
So: want to edit a photo, but not with iPhoto? You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.
How to access the Photos for whatever reason you may need them see this user tip:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4491
For details of the Export dialogue: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4921
You can more or less recreate your folder tree in the iPhoto Window - start at the bottom of your tree and drag  folder of images to the Albums Heading. iPhoto will import the images and make an album of them. Then File -> New Folder and drag the Album to that. Folders can hold nested folders and Albums. And so work from there.
But if your folder tree is date based that's a bit pointless, as the Calendar search and Smart Albums make it pretty redundant. With these you can find any photos from a specific day, week, month, year or date-range in the Library.
If the folder tree is theme based, then keywords will a more effective way of working.
And Albums are more flexible that folders in the Finder, as an image can be in any number of Albums and use no extra disk space whatever.
So, it's a whole new way of working with photos for you.
    To your specific questions:
I am having an issue exporting the iphoto albums to an external drive. When I do it, it either just drops all the pictures in together or it separates them by events, but my iphotos are arranged in albums, not events so that doesn't help
Export them one album at a time.
    This User Tip
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4921
has details of the options in the Export dialogue.
But given the above... why are you doing this? You're defeating the non-destructive workflow by doing it. Are you trying to back up?
.I can't save photos automatically to folders/albums in iphoto bc it doesnt show in the finder,
Not clear exactly what you're asking here, but does the above open some ideas?
I can't upload to facebook without doing it from iphoto
Yeah you can... For help accessing your photos in iPhoto see this user tip:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4491
    It's the first one...
and I obviously can't save to external drive easily just yet.
Yeah you can but what exactly are you trying to save, and, again, why? Different purposes have different workflows.
Should I just be saving all of my photos in Pictures in the finder?
That's a personal choics, but not if you plan on using iPhoto. And as I started with iPhoto is not compulsory... As to why you shouldn't with iPhoto:
For more on iPhoto and file management see this User Tip:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6361
    Reasons for bothering to learn...
I use Events simply as big buckets of Photos: Spring 08, July - Nov 06 are typical Events in my Library. I use keywords and Smart Albums extensively. I title the pics broadly.
    I keyword on a
    Who
    What
Where basis (The When is in the photos's Exif metadata). I also rate the pics on a 1 - 5 star basis.
Using this system I can find pretty much find any pic in my 50k library in a couple of seconds.
So, for example, I have a batch of pics titled 'Seattle 08' and a  typical keywording might include: John, Anne, Landscape, mountain, trees, snow. With a rating included it's so very easy to find the best pics we took at Mount Rainier.
    File -> New Smart Album
    set it to 'All"
    title contains Seattle
    keyword is mountain
    keyword is snow
    rating is 5 stars
Or, want a chronological album of John from birth to today?
    New Smart Album
    Keyword is John
Set the View options to Sort By Date Ascending
    Want only the best pics?
add Rating is greater than 4 stars
The best thing about this system is that it's dynamic. If I add 50 more pics of John  to the Library tomorrow, as I keyword and rate them they are added to the Smart Album.
In the end, organisation is about finding the pics. The point is to make locating that pic or batch of pics findable fast. This system works for me.
