IPhoto albums no longer updating in iTunes

When I have the iPhone plugged into the Mac, and I go to the photos tab, I have selected to have the photos sync from iPhoto. This was working normally for a while but ever since I created an album and then deleted it, the albums under the photo section in iTunes no longer update. The folder I deleted is still there with 0 photos in it, but it is not in iPhoto.
As a result, any new albums I create and any new photos are not syncing to the iPhone. Nothing changes in iTunes anymore.
Things I have tried:
Updating to latest iTunes
Deleting iPod Photo Cache
Rebuilding iPhoto Database
Attaching a different iPhone
Deleting all iTunes application data and preferences
Deleting all iPhoto application data and preferences
Creating a new iPhoto Library and importing the old one, creating a couple of new folders and testing, this leads to iTunes saying there are two default folders with no photos
Deleting iTunes and iPhoto caches
Please help! I've run out of things I can think of that should work!

okay, so i just restarted my computer & the desktop changed.
i usually only sleep the computer & so the desktop doesn't change. even when i did shutdown/restart computer in the past, the desktop did not change. i think somehow this is all connected. it seems if i don't have whatever photo my desktop is saved on the desktop, it will change it back into some generic photo...should i just make an appointment at an apple store? i don't have iPhoto 08 & there have been no updates...

  • Photo album total not updating in itunes

I'm having an issue syncing photos from my MBP to my iDevices.
I have one album created in iPhoto that i want to update and sync to my iPhone and my iPad. I've recently added a number of pictures to this album, so the total increased form 205 to 228. However, when I connect either iDevice and click on the photo section, the total number of photos in the album still reads as 205. I have tried rebuilding the iPhoto library, and re-installing iTunes, but neither fixed the issue (both programs are up to date).
Is this a bug or am I missing something here? Is the problem with iTunes or iPhoto?
    Any assistance is appreciated.

Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there.
Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A Finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for the iPod Photo Cache. Trash it. Start iPhoto and try sync again.

  • IPhoto folders no longer showing in iTunes & System Pref???

has anyone had this problem recently?
when i'm syncing iPod it no longer shows individual folders that you could select from. it seems to me that it wants to wipe out the folders that are existing on my iPod to replace it with entire iPhoto library without separate folders.
also, in system preferences it no longer shows folders from iPhoto. ?
i don't understand. could it have anything to do with iWeb? that is about the only thing i've "played" around with recently...

  • I can no longer update my Itunes version and I also can't access online or phone support with their new support options because it won't accept my serial number.  What's up? Did support go away?

I've been using Itunes for years with little problem and when one develops, it is quickly resolved. Now, I find myself unable to update my version of Itunes.  it asks me if I wish to update the version, I say yes, and then nothing happens. When I try to go to support, I select the Itunes downloading/synching option and basically, I can't proceed past the point of entering a valid serial number, because I'm not clear on which serial number it wants.  It says hardware, so I supply my PC serial # (I own an ASUS laptop).  I get an error message that this isn't a valid s/n, so I look for one for Itunes and can't find one anywhere.  I try to follow their explanation of how to locate your serial # but it is extremely unclear and unhelpful. So now I'm stuck.  I can't get past first base anymore.  Did Apple come up with a clever way to end their support service without actually admitting it? Or am I just being particularly dense here? Any help is appreciated. Thx

With that one, I'd try updating using an iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer file, downloaded from the Apple Website:

  • Feed is no longer updating in iTunes store

I have been using PodPress in our Wordpress site to produce our podcasts for over a year now with no problems. I have not made any changes in settings.
However, about 2 weeks ago, my iTunes feed stopped updating.
When I validate the feed, it says everything is OK.
Would this be a problem on my end or iTunes?  I am not sure what might have changed on my end to stop the feed from showing up in iTunes.  Everything I see looks good, but I also am not a genius at this, so if someone could help me out by telling me a few things to look for on this, I would appreciate it.
This is my feed address http://welcome2hope.org/category/podcastsfeed/feed/

You are correct in the Audio feeds from the 6th and 13th are showing up.  However, on both dates, there should also be video versions of both podcasts coming down the feed.
So for example, I should have on 10/6 an audio and video version of "Worship" but as of this writing, I only have audio.  Same goes for the "Mission 101" on both dates.
However, I just uploaded "Worship" for 10/13, 25 minutes ago and it has shown up in my iTunes feed.  It was the last feed to be added.
So, it may be I am not giving enough time for it to post, but it is odd that the newest video that I posted is showing up, but not the older videos.
When I check my RSS feed reader, everything is there.

  • Perfectly good XML file no longer updating in iTunes

    Hey there, forum.
Ok, so I have this podcast that has sucessfully updated 36 or so times, I've never had a problem until now.
The podcast XML file is updating just like it has been, and and I can go to http://www.imboredpictures.com/e78podcastfeed.xml and verify this. Episodes 1-37 show up just fine. But my most recent update (which has been posted for over 2 weeks) does not show up - either on the itunes store or when I select the "Update Podcast" command in my subscriptions. Users are also unable to subscribe to the podcast using the "Subscribe to Podcast" command in iTunes and then pasting in the URL that links to the xml file.
So, if someone could please offer any suggestions, and/or a reason why this thing would suddenly STOP working, pleas let me know.
    Thanks!

Escape the "&" in line 46 - it's breaking the XML:

  • Digital Booklets for albums no longer handled within iTunes - so annoying!

So, as one of its "improvements" to iTunes, digital booklets are now handled by iBooks.  And they have removed the ability to edit the metadata, so now I have a bunch of booklets in iBooks in no order, and unsearchable.
    1. I can't see why I should want to have another app open to read the booklets assiciated with an album I am listening to.
    2. Why should I not be able to edit the metadata, or create my own booklets from PDF or scans?
    3. If they do change this, am I really going to have to edit the metadata of my 5000 digital booklets inn my iTunes library?
What a pain the the backside!

    I second your emotion!
I have not been an iBook user (and I don't even own an iPhone or iPad), but I am a huge iTunes user (on an iMac). Here are my observations and complaints.
I think this is some sort of mistake or oversight - it makes no sense whatsoever to remove an iTunes music digital booklet from it's source - to force us to open another app to view the liner notes for an album. I predict (and certainly hope) they will reintegrate this in the future.
When I opened iBooks, it only imported one (one!) of numerous digital booklets from my iTunes library. The rest it left stranded in iTunes.
When I tried to import the rest - all named "digital booklet.pdf" and nested within the iTunes library file structure - it tried to overwrite the one that was already there.
The books themselves are buried deep within the system library file system - quite inaccessible.
That's not a problem, necessarily, but not being able to edit metadata (title, author, etc.) also makes no sense whatsoever. Shouldn't it work like iTunes, where I can edit artist, song and album title, etc.?
Anyway, this strikes me as an inadvertent snafu - a bad side effect of the iBooks improvements. Again, I hope Apple is paying attention and will improve both the fuctionality of iBooks (particularly as relates to metadata editability) and its integration with iTunes (reuiniting our music with its accompanying documentation).

  • ITunes can't see photos in iPhoto albums

    Hi everybody,
I've just got my iPad yesterday and I'm loving it.
Alas, I can't seem to sync my iPhoto albums. They display in iTunes correctly, they all have photos in (in iPhoto) but when I select them to sync across, it states that there are zero photos in the albums.
Its also the same thing with my iPhone as well. I've the 3G model and can't sync photos to that either.
    Any ideas?
I've already tried deleting the iPod cache within the iPhoto folder in the hope that it would rebuild itself.
I've also tried creating a new album, and put photos in, but iTunes can't even see this, despite restarting my computer.
It seems that iTunes is displaying the albums, but not seeing the photos at all.
If anybody could help, that would be fantastic.
    Cheers
    Adrian

  • How to auto update a web gallery from an iphoto album?

how do you set-up an iphoto album to automatically update a web gallery album?
so if i add a new photo to an existing album on my computer that has a corresponding web gallery album that web gallery will know to add that photo
i'm trying to keep the web gallery album in sync with the same named album on my computer

That is not a current feature of iPhoto - you will need to add the photo to both the album and the web gallery album
To suggest to Apple - iPhoto menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback

  • IPhoto albums not showing up in screensaver

I have just updated to iLife 09. Now when I go to system preferences - screen saver - pictures, my iPhoto albums no longer come up. I can only choose a folder called Pictures folder and it contains all of my iPhoto pictures. I cannot narrow it to one album or event that I have created.
Very odd thing...this is only occuring on my Macbook. My Mac Mini has everything in place.
Any suggestions or ideas of what I can do to fix this? Thanks.

Getting really frustrated. I replaced my iphoto library from a backup. Checked system preferences - screensaver and my iphoto library was there. Opened iphoto and it wanted to scan faces. Froze after about 20 min. Had to force quit - actually shut down. Opened iphoto and it started the scan process again. Checked system preferences - screensaver again. All was well. Back to iphoto while it was scanning - 17 min to go. iphoto unexpectantly quit. Checked system preferences, iphoto albums gone in screensaver. Everything in iphoto seems ok. All pictures, albums, events, etc. are there. Even deleted iphoto prefs like suggested for something else.
What else can I possibly do?

  • My iPad mini is no longer updating since last iOS update

My iPad mini is no longer updating through iTunes since the last iOS update.

Thanks Texas Mac Man.  My iPad is running 7.0.6 and it was after that update my iPad was no longer syncing through iTunes on my laptop.  My iPhone, also on 7.0.6, has no issues.  Earlier this morning I tried again, hooking my iPad up to iTunes and left them alone for a couple of hours and it never progressed past "syncing notes."

  • How do I recover missing iPhoto albums and pictures?

A week ago, all my iPhoto Albums disappeared that normally would appear in the left iPhoto column under LIBRARY and RECENT. When I opened the iPhoto app from both the Dock and the Applications folder, an iPhoto window opens and asks if I would like to set up my iPhoto Library. The first few times this happened, I ignored the request and tried again with the same results.
I tried unsuccessfully finding and restoring the iPhoto Library Database from my external 3TB Time Machine hard drive. I couldn't find any full iPhoto Library Database backup and my backups go back a year. Instead, all I found and restored are photos and videos that were saved outside of iPhoto on the Desktop and in hard drive folders. Several months ago, there was a similar occurrence, but I was able to restore the Library Database. With no luck this time, I eventually allowed iPhoto to start up as if it was being installed for the first time and I never had the option to load an earlier backup Library Database or choose an automatic restore from an earlier version or backup.
While trying to go through various recovery choices with iPhoto, I started getting iCloud login popups asking for my Apple ID and password. I kept cancelling these because I had not previously set up iCloud. When iCloud messages persisted, I finally used my ID and password and the popups stopped. I'm clueless why this was happening and I remain clueless as to what occurred after I tried many cancellations, then finally entered my ID and password. Since then (two days ago), there has been no evidence of iCloud operating or requiring my attention.
After holding the command+option keys to start the iPhoto app, I've tried all the radio button options, one at a time, to Repair, Rebuild, Recover, Examine with no luck. Instead, all that is found are the same files I already mentioned. When I start iPhoto now after allowing it to start up from scratch, the Library Database shows iPhoto Library Recovered Photos (2 photos), Resources (176 photos), a CD backup, Desktop, and lots of short collections of media, resources, thumbnails, and other graphics images I don't recognize and are probably Invisibles. The only photos that appear when Photos is clicked in the left colum of iPhoto are photos that were apparently imported from backed up desktop and hard drive folders. All the photos that were previously imported to iPhoto and stored in iPhoto albums no longer appear individually or in albums in the left column of iPhoto.
    I'm using a one-year old iMac running Mac OS X Version 10.7.5 with iPhoto '11 Version 9.2 (626).
I'm reasonably confident the phtoos and albums are recoverable somewhere, but I'm at a loss to find out where. I've been running Macs since 1984 and this is the first time I have been totally unable to explain or recover from an OS, hardware, or app-level problem.
Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated. If absolutely necessary, I could pack up all my gear and take it to an Apple office 23 miles away for help.

My problem was not so much the loss of pictures, but the loss of their virtual association into albums I created because the albums were no longer appearing when iPhoto was started. I was reluctant to do any reinstalls of the OS, Tme Machine, or iPhoto because I was confident the existing installs were as they should be. Instead, I explored earlier Time Machine backups of iPhoto-related files and folders. I tried several different files/folders to see what I could find when I restored and opened them. To my delight, I found an earlier "iPhoto Library (original)" that, once I restored it to my desktop, iPhoto automatically found the virtual album-photo associations that existed prior to the earlier loss of albums; the restored albums appea as they should in the left column of iPhoto. This "fix" was not intuitively obvious to me, but I was pleased it worked.
A simple iPhoto explanation through iPhoto Help would have been very helpful if the explanation would have said iPhoto Album and Smart Album photo associations are logical, not physical, and the associations and album names are store in the iPhoto Library folder.
At this point, I'm hesitant to move the restored "iPhoto Library (original)" from the desktop, perhaps to the Applications folder, because I don't want to run the risk of undoing what seems to be working. Should I leave this on the desktop or move it?

  • When I try to sync iPhoto Album I get an Uknown Error -50

My iPhone syncs up just fine in every aspect. Except for Photos. I have read all the problems with the iPhoto Albums not showing up in iTunes. I am having that same problem, so I decided to just select the "All photos & albums" option, even though I can't control which albums to select because they don't show up.
Now when I start the sync process, everything is still fine. It syncs the contacts, calendars, bookmark, but before it get's to Photos, it stops syncing and gives me the "Unknown Error -50" message. Any thoughts on how to get this to work?
    Thanks - Mike
PS I tried using terminal to see what the problem was with the AlbumData.xml file, but couldn't get the command to work properly because my iPhoto Album is not in my user folder. It is in a seperate hard drive.

You mention that your iPhoto Album is on a separate hard drive and outside your user name or home folder. If you ment "iPhoto Library" take a look at this post.

Any photos in your iPhoto library that aren't already in Photos are added.
Image adjustments you made in iPhoto are migrated to Photos.
If you applied image adjustments to photos synced to your iOS device from iTunes, a duplicate of each photo will be created in Photos with adjustments applied.

Tags and captions from iPhoto are not displayed in Photos, but you can use them as search terms and they will show up respectively as Keywords and Titles in Photos search results.
Flags from iPhoto are converted to the keyword Flagged.
