IPhoto Albums not updating in iWeb

Am I missing something?
Have a couple of Smart Albums in iPhoto which I had no problem incorporating into iWeb. But as I add to my iPhoto Library, and more photos end up in these Smart Albums, they are not automatically incorporated into my iWeb page.
I don't expect it to happen magically, but if I have iPhoto running, and I have iWeb running, at the very least I figured that if I clicked on the album page in iWeb it would remember the link it has with iPhoto and be able to calculate that there are additional photos to include. But no, nothing.
Currently I either have to manually go through and figure out which photos were added... slow for me. Or just remove the album from iWeb and add it again... slow for the server as it has to reload a large number of photos unnecessarily.
Surely iPhoto and iWeb are integrated better than that?
Advise appreciated.

The smart albums do not automatically update iWeb photo pages/albums. To add more photos to an existing iWeb album or photo page you'll need to drag the photos onto the iWeb page to join the existing photos there like in this video screenshot.
In other words, the iWeb page it has to be manually updated.

Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to rebuild the thumbnails. It can take 3 or 4 goes for this to work

  • Photos albums from iphoto will not show in iweb media section

    Hello
I have 2 issues. Photo albums that I created in Iphoto will not show in the Iweb media section. Also, all of the photos from half the Photo pages go missing after I update and republish to my site. They still show on the site but the photos are not longer showing in Iweb and have to be added back to the photo pages.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Try the following:
    1 - close iWeb.
2 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder.
3 - go to your User/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete the contents.
    4 - reboot.
5 - launch iWeb and try again.

  • Changes in Picturealbums from Iphoto is not updated within Itunes/ATV

I would like to choose what picture albums from IPhoto that should be synchronized to AppleTV. But the AppleTV tab within Itunes does not update with the new albums that I have created in Iphoto. Anyone has an idea how I can force Itunes to refresh the list of shared albums from Iphoto ?
I've tried reboot everything there is after I made my changes

Welcome to the  Discussion Forums.
Could there be any photos with file types not supported by the tv in these albums. Or any illegal characters such as "/" in any of the album names, file names or even keywords or descriptions. Have you tried rebuilding your iphoto library.

  • Smart Album Not Updating Dynamically

I recently upgraded to iPhoto 11.  My Smart Albums now no longer update dynamically.  For example, I have a smart album that contains the last 3 months of photos.  It does not update after I import photos from my camera.  I have to manaully edit the settings for the smart album and click ok.  I don't change the settings, just edit and click ok.
Why aren't the smart albums dynamically updating?

Dynamic update of smart playlists when playing music untethered on an iPod touch 2G set to manually manage music is broken with the latest iPhone 3.0 Software Update for iPod touch. Here we go again on this issue. It seems to be broken or purposefully disabled on every other update for the iPod.
On a side note, I noticed that my iPod now occasionally displays a wait screen when opening Music. I found this happens when I alter my playlists in iTunes.app, then disconnect the iPod for a session of untethered listening. Perhaps the iPod is actually building the smart playlists then, perhaps not, perhaps a smart developer will take advantage of this to trigger the smart playlist updating.

  • Pics from iPhoto Albums not all showing in iPhone tab in iTunes

I am trying to sync several of my iPhoto albums with my iPhone. With most of my albums when I click on the photo tab in iTunes, it shows WAY less pictures than are in the real album. Does anyone know what could be causing this or how to fix it? I really want all pics from the albums I choose to move to phone.

Apparently sometimes, for various reasons (replacement of a track in the Store with another copy, slight changes in the release identification, etc.) the link between the track and your Purchase History can break, which will result in the track not appearing as eligible for iTunes Plus upgrade even though it exists as Plus in the Store.
Contact the iTunes Store Customer Service department using the form at the bottom of the Purchase Issues FAQ web page (there is no category specifically for this issue, so I'd suggest just picking one under the Purchases - problem area) and explain the problem to them. It may take a couple of email exchanges to get past the "form" email responses, but eventually they should work out a solution for you. You may need to provide the track name, artist and order number so they can confirm the original purchase.
    Regards.

  • IPhoto albums not showing up in screensaver

I have just updated to iLife 09. Now when I go to system preferences - screen saver - pictures, my iPhoto albums no longer come up. I can only choose a folder called Pictures folder and it contains all of my iPhoto pictures. I cannot narrow it to one album or event that I have created.
Very odd thing...this is only occuring on my Macbook. My Mac Mini has everything in place.
Any suggestions or ideas of what I can do to fix this? Thanks.

Getting really frustrated. I replaced my iphoto library from a backup. Checked system preferences - screensaver and my iphoto library was there. Opened iphoto and it wanted to scan faces. Froze after about 20 min. Had to force quit - actually shut down. Opened iphoto and it started the scan process again. Checked system preferences - screensaver again. All was well. Back to iphoto while it was scanning - 17 min to go. iphoto unexpectantly quit. Checked system preferences, iphoto albums gone in screensaver. Everything in iphoto seems ok. All pictures, albums, events, etc. are there. Even deleted iphoto prefs like suggested for something else.
What else can I possibly do?

  • IPhoto albums not appearing in iTunes

    Hi
I usuaully can fix these issues myself but this one has me frustrated.  I bought a new Mac around 6 months ago and transferred all photos to the new computer.  Everything was working perfectly.  However, recently I have added photos to iPhoto in a few new albums.   Now, when I try to sync photos with my iPad/iPhone all the old albums are there but none of the new ones are shown.  I also cannot stream any of the new albums through to my AppleTV as they do not appear.
I have looked into the Home Sharing preferences in iTunes - File>Home Sharing>Choose Photos to Share with Apple TV and the new albums do not appear there either.
I've looked everywhere but cannot see why it does not pick up these new albums.  Around the time, I put all my media on an external drive and changed the pathway but it all seems fine for my musice, tv and movies but not photos.
So they albums are in iPhoto but not in iTunes.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

If a new library worked then your current library is damaged.  Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • IPhoto albums not found in Finder window

I have all my photos well organized in iPhoto, in albums and folders - all labelled exactly what they are. However if I go into the iPhoto Library via a Finder window all I get are numbers which mean nothing to me. My titles don't show at all and I've no idea how to quickly find the image I want.
Incidentally, when I'm in iPhoto the titles do show in the information panel.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    Many thanks

    Hi Dijw,
iPhoto 5 now stores the Album information in a data xml file. The Albums folder within the iPhoto Library folder is no longer used. At some point, usually after a rebuild, you will no longer have that folder in the Finder.
If you need to access photos from an album it is very difficult for a third party application to navigate the iPhoto Library in order to find the photo you need. You will have to know the date of import in order to find the photo.
There are some third party applications that can read the xml file and can navigate the iPhoto library and show you the Albums. Hopefully more applications will be revised to read this file.
Until then you will have to Share/Export the photos to the desktop. You can then navigate to the desktop to use the photos (example: web uploading from online photo site)
If your application supports drag and drop, you can drag the photo from an open iPhoto Library window into your application.
For email you can also use the email icon within iPhoto to open a message with the highlighted photo attached.
You can also use spotlight to find images in an Album...
This is what I have done using Spotlight to find my images that are in iPhoto albums without opening iPhoto..
In iPhoto, select the album, then select all, go to Photos/batch change.
Change the comments to text. In the text field I put the name of the Album.
    Do this for each album.
    Close iPhoto.
Open Spotlight and put in the name of the Album ( you have to remember the names of the albums or have then written down)
In the spotlight search results. click on "show all"
Under "Images" click on the "xx more" to show all the images in the album.
Make sure you have it in icon view, the icon view box is the last one on the blue images line.
Now you can control click on the image to "reveal in finder", open in iPhoto or Mail, etc.
I am not sure if this is going to make you happy and it is a little more work, but you can find images in albums and even view them in a slideshow (by clicking the play arrow at the end of the Images highlighted blue line) using Spotlight, all without opening iPhoto.
One important thing to know is you can set up a graphic program to be an external editor (when you double click an image in the library} such as PhotoShop or PS Elements. You set up that within iPhoto Preferences. Just make sure you save the image flattened and with the same name. The edits will then be relected in iPhoto when you hit "save".
I have just found this useful piece of info at Macoshints.com
"Since Apple developed its "digital hub", with iLife and now iWork, I have wanted to have a system-wide panel that would let me choose pictures from my iPhoto library without having to open the application.
For example, if I want to add a picture to a TextEdit RTFD document, I had to launch iPhoto, chose the picture, and drag it to the document. Waiting for iPhoto to launch can be long if you have a lot of photos.
But there is a way to get around this, using an Automator action.
    1. Open Automator, and click iPhoto.
    2. From the list of actions, select Ask for Photos, and drag it to the right-hand pane.
    3. Save this as a plug-in, and select Script Menu (the script menu that displays in the menu bar) so it is accessible anywhere. (If this menu is not visible, launch the AppleScript Utility in /Applications/Applescript, and check 'Show Script Menu in menu bar.')
Next time you need a picture from your iPhoto library, select this action from the AppleScript menu, and you'll have a media browser that lets you do so without opening iPhoto. "

Don't tamper with files in the iPhoto library folder
    About the iPhoto Library folder
Now for the titles issue...titles you give images in iPhoto stay within iPhoto. The original file name always remains the same in the Finder.
Now for finding the photos in the Finder.
iPhoto 6 Library folder in the Finder
As you can see the structure is now related to rolls. Rolls are created for each folder you import and each import session from a camera.
It is very easy to change the names of film rolls within iPhoto to make them easier to find images within. Open the info panel in iPhoto by clicking on the "i" icon. Once it is opened, click on the roll title in the viewing window.
Click on the word "title" in the info pane and type in your new title. I like to use a date and text format such as 12/25/05 Christmas at Mom's, 1/05/06 my birthday, etc. Once the roll names are changed within iPhoto, they are also changed within the Finder, making it easy to locate an image.
When importing from a camera, make sure you name the roll with a date and text before the import.

  • IPhoto album "not found" / Communication error...

Having a really weird problem with Front Row... it likes everything but iPhoto! It pulls my iTunes across my network with no problem, it plays movies, trailer and video clips locally and across the network with no problems, but when it comes to iPhoto, it throws a snit.
Seriously, when I select the "Photos" section, it sees the shared iPhoto library across my network, so it tries to go load it. About three seconds after it starts trying to pull the shared library across, it throws up an error: "The album you selected could not be found," then it suggests that there was either a communications error or that the server went offline, although neither is true. Note that it never gets to the point where I can choose an album - it doesn't show any albums, only the error message.
    Has anyone else seen this?
First, it should be noted that the Front Row computer is attached to a projector that can only display up to 800x600. iPhoto on this computer launches, but first throws up an error that the display is not optimal for that application. The machine is otherwise quite strong: Mini dual-core, 1GB RAM, 45+GB free HD.
Here's what I've done in the meantime...
    1) Reinstalled iPhoto 6 from the beginning. Tested - no dice. Applied 6.0.1 and 6.0.2. No dice.
    2) Repaired perms on the server. No dice.
    3) Checked iPhoto on the Front Row machine - it does see the shared library and has no problem bringing the library across.
    4) Changed libraries - I use three different libraries regularly - no dice. #3, above, recognized each library just fine, incidentally.
    5) Created a generic user account on the iPhoto "server," ran iPhoto (which creates a new, blank library), put four pictures in it. iPhoto on the Front Row mac saw the new library with no problem. Front Row, however, gaves the same error.
    6) Rebooted everything (of course). No luck.
    7) I've "googled" the error messages, with no applicable results.
    8) I've put aliases to the libraries in the Front Row machine's user account's "Pictures" folder. The Front Row machine's iPhoto didn't like it, nor did Front Row. Oh well... besides, this would be a workaround - not what I want.
    9) The iPhoto "server" has a pretty straightforward name with no spaces or odd characters. The "share name" assigned in iPhoto has no odd characters or spaces. The Front Row machine, too, has a straightforward, short alphanumeric name.
    10) Networking between the two is a reliable gigabit connection through a five-port gigabit switch. Communication is steady and very fast - as evidenced by iTunes working, video streaming, iPhoto recognizing libraries, etc.
    11) Name resolution between the machines works just fine. There are no odd routing tables or other infrastructure hiccups that might bog it down.
    12) I've pared down the share from "full library" to sharing only a single, tiny album. The album has a straightforward name with no spaces or odd characters and only a handful of pictures. No dice.

iPhoto on the Front Row computer does launch and, after I "OK" the warning about a suboptimal display resolution (an error I'd really like to eradicate), I do see the local iPhoto library.
I've tried several combinations to see what happens - I'll call the main "serving" computer "server," even 'tho it's not a "server," technically speaking - it's running regular ol' Tiger, same version as the Front Row machine ("FR").
    1. Neither machine running iPhoto: Front Row doesn't see the server's collection, nor does it offer the local library, either.
    2. Server running iPhoto, FR not: Front Row gives the error described above. When I quit Front Row, the iPhoto icon is bouncing, alerting me (again) to the fact that the display is suboptimal, so apparently Front Row is launching iPhoto in the background in order to connect (presumably) to the server's iPhoto library.
    3. Server running iPhoto, FR running iPhoto: If I "OK" the suboptimal display error on the FR machine so that both FR and server are running iPhoto, I get the error described above when attempting to view the server's iPhoto collection. iPhoto on the FR machine, however, does see the server's iPhoto collection - I can browse it, view it, etc. just fine.
    4. Server not running iPhoto, FR running iPhoto (again, clicking "OK" to get through that suboptimal display warning): FR iPhoto only displays local library; FR doesn't see server libraries and gives appropriate error.
Through all of this, I just noticed an oddity: at no point does Front Row attempt to let me browse the local iPhoto library... it only gives me the "shared albums" option. I need to check something but this could be an oddity: I don't believe there are any actual pictures or albums in the local library, only the server's library. Again, iPhoto does launch properly and will let me browse shared albums - I'm just not certain I populated the local library with anything. I'll check that tonight to see if it makes a whit of difference.

  • Blog Comments not updating in iWeb '09

I have a photo blog site that allows comments to be made. The web site itself is working as it should. But when checking for comments using iWeb they will not update to reflect what comments have been made. There will be the blue indicator next to the post but when selected, the comments are not shown in the iWeb window. This is making monitoring comments a real hassle. Any ideas?

I don't think this is an iweb 3 exclusive problem. I'm using iweb 1.1.2 and have similar issues with communication between the users computer and Apple. Mine are with updating pages with changes on them. Pages never turn blue showing the update complete, but instead stay red after uploading the whole site. So every time the program thinks it has to update every page on the site which takes forever. It started up around February 09. Apple told me this was a problem on their end communicating back to your computer letting it know the update has been made. Your problem sounds like it might also be coming from Apple. It's been 2 months now and still no fix. I'm betting that Apple supporting .mac and mobileme at the same time has something to do with the problem. The mobileme people will probably get a fix when they officially dump .mac in July because you're the new program on the block where I don't know what will happen to us old .mac people. Maybe a free update to version 1.1.2 that will make it compatible with mobileme instead of .mac?
    Na, probably not.

Need some help...when i edit a picture and save it to iphoto, the new picture will not upload to iweb or web gallery.. it uses the original picture. Any ideas how to solve this issue?!
    thanks

Try delete the com.apple.iphoto.plist file from the home / library / preferences folder.
    Also, Download BatchMod from
    http://macchampion.com/arbysoft/
And apply it to the iPhoto Library using the settings found here:
