IPhoto All events collapsed into a single event dated 1969

A friend had all her iPhoto events arranged and orgainzed... until about a week ago, when everything collapsed into one event covering the birth of Unix in 1969 until last week.
This is a disaster... googling around turned up a distressing number of people thinking iPhoto '11 is the culprit.  Going back in Time Maching didn't rebulid the database...
I'd be inclined to blame a hardware issue given the date involved but her system time is OK and points to the Apple time server, also there were no other issues at the time in question.
As a last resort we're trying a database rebuild...  had to leave before it completed.  There are a lot of photos involved.
This is bad... please someone tell me it's easily fixable.

Tried this:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4927
to be sure and after I'd selected 'replace', thusly,
Got this:
My user is a computer administrator so I can't imagine why I wouldn't have permission.
If this has veered into a new topic let me know and I'll start a new one.
I really appreciate your help.

  • IPhoto '09 events "merged" into one big event

    It isn't clear what happened, but all of our events got merged into a single event after a restart of iPhoto. Both the Events and Photos folders show just the one event. All 10,000+ photos are in this one event. All of the Albums, Books, etc. seem to be still there and in place.
    Is there anyway one can automatically rebuild the events from the time/date info (the photos still have their timestamps)?

    It is the same in both views. In events view, there is one event with a date starting in '01 - '09. In the photos view, there is same range of dates/photo count listed first. Opening either opens up all of the photos in the library.
    The good news is all of the photos are still there. Also, all of the albums, books, etc are still there. Just lost the event/roll type organization (which is useful on its own).
    I know that during one of the earlier upgrades of iLife, events were automatically created from the old photo library based upon some criteria (I presumed it was date imported or date taken), but I didn't see this as an option anywhere. I do know about recreating a library but I'm not sure that is the best path taken.

    ls -l /var/run/lighttpd/
    And how are you spawning the php instances? I don't see that in the daemons array anywhere.
    EDIT: It looks like the info in that page is no longer using pre-spawned instances, but lighttpd adaptive-spawn. The documentation has been made inconsistent it looks like.
    You will note that with pre-spawned information, the config looks different[1].
    You need to do one or the other, not both (eg. choose adaptive-spawn, or pre-spawn..not both).

  • Is it possible inscribe all the packages into a single package ??

    Hi,
    In Oracle 10g , Is it possible inscribe all the packages into a single package ??
    Because, my PM Is asking me to inscribe all the Packages into Single Package and give same reference to the .Net developers.
    I have tried a lot, but i am not finding out the right solution for this ., and even i am bit confused whether is this possible or not.
    Can any one please suggest me how to achieve this it it's possible in Oracle.

    You mean something like...
    -- First package with functions in it...
    SQL> create package mypack1 as
      2    function myfunc1 return number;
      3  end;
      4  /
    Package created.
    -- assume a package body is created for this as well
    -- Second package with functions in it...
    SQL> create package mypack2 as
      2    function myfunc2 return number;
      3  end;
      4  /
    Package created.
    -- assume a package body is created for this as well
    -- One package encompassing other packages...
    SQL> create package allpacks as
      2    function myfunc1 return number;
      3    function myfunc2 return number;
      4  end;
      5  /
    Package created.
    SQL> create package body allpacks as
      2    function myfunc1 return number is
      3    begin
      4      return mypack1.myfunc1;
      5    end;
      6
      7    function myfunc2 return number is
      8    begin
      9      return mypack2.myfunc2;
    10    end;
    11  end;
    12  /
    Package body created.

  • Merging all DB scripts into a single script for deployment

    Hi,
    I'm using an Oracle Database Project in Visual Studio to store single scripts for each database object, which I like a lot. What I don't know is how to merge all those scripts into a single script now that I'm ready for deployment. I would prefer to give the DBA guy a single script with all the objects and not one script per DB object.
    Is there any way to achieve this?
    Julio

    Hi,
    I'm playing with this stuff these days and Yes, there is a possibility:
    Under Visual Studio:
    Open your Database Edition Project
    Goto "Server Explorer"
    You should have previously created a connection to your Target DB.
    Open that connection. you have a collection of folders.
    Select/Open the Schema Folder, then the Tables Folder.
    Select the Tables you want to Script, right-click and select "Generate Create Script to Project".
    Enter a Scriptname and click OK
    That's all.
    Going back to your Project, you shuld find a Script into your "Script" Folder.
    The problem is that you cannot create separate Scripts when selecting multiple tables, as I stated in my Post "ODT lacks some functionnalities"
    Hope it helps
    Rgds

  • Iphoto combined pictures into a single event

    Iphoto took it upon itself to combine all my pictures before a certain date into one event. After that date and before another date, the thumbnails are missing. After that second date, everything is fine.
    I have trashed the plist,
    restored from a backup
    and rebuilt the library using iphoto and iphoto library manager.
    Iphoto library manager gave me some good results but left duplicates in the one large event and didn't split a lot of the events properly.
    Any other suggestions?

    Since rebuilding the library didn't help you'll have to resort to regrouping the photos manually back into Events. One method is to create Smart Albums based on specific time frames. Then select the photos in that smart album and create a new event with them.
    When that's done you can create a new library, open the old library in the Finder, go to the Originals folder and drag the new Event folders into the new iPhoto library. That will at least give you the events you created and leave out those duplicates (just import the new events that you created).
    OT
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
    NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete.

  • All photos merged in a single event

    after a crash more than 200 events to only one, all photos merged in a sigle event, is there a way to fix it ?

    Easiest way is to load your backup from before the crash
    another is to select the event and use the autosplit selected event command

  • How can I move all my contacts into a single email group from all the other group?

    I've got several email accounts, but my contacts are spread across them. Of course, when I access or search my contacts they do all get searched together, but I need to delete an account and this will result in me losing many contacts.
    So before I do this, I want to consolidate all my contacts into my main personal email group account. But short of doing them one by one, I can't find a way and I have several thousand contacts at risk of being lost.
    Can anyone advise me?

    Go to your Contacts on your Mac - if more than one pick the most accurate; delete any contacts you don't want. Select all the contacts, and from the File menu choose 'Export...'>'Export vCard'. Save the resultant file safely: it will be your 'master' list.
    Now delete all the contacts from whichever device has the most in it. Sync with iCloud. If necessary repeat with different Macs. The result should be that the deletions sync to iCloud and in the end you finish up with empty Contacts lists everywhere.
    Now you can import your saved file to one of your Macs. Make sure you import it under 'iCloud' not 'On My Mac'. Then it should propagate iCloud and any other devices. Keep the saved file at least until you are satisfied that all is in order.

  • Need a way to automatically conference all phone users into a single voice conference.

    The old PBX that we are replacing had a way to call every user and place them into one large conference.    The customer needs this for emergency siturations but I can not figure out how to do this with CUCM 8.5 and Meetingplace 8.5.   I have talked to a few people and they said that other PBX's would allow  a user to dial a number, I.E. 31000, and that would auto dial every phone or  a list of phones an automatically place anyone who anwsered into a conference.
    Does anyone know if this can be done with Meetingplace and CUCM.
    Thanks
    Kevin

    There is no way to do this with CUCM but there is a third party InformaCast product from single wire that can do this on their latest release.

  • Putting ALL my music into one single drive, from multiple drives & machines

    It serves me right, but I have created a wild mess of various instances of iTunes on various machines, with some music purchased and some from ripped CDs.  I also haven't used the ipod much, until only recently, so most of my collections have been bound to my MBP and G5.  My backup procedure is a worst practice method of just cooying stuff from one drive to another and occasionally buying new hard drives.  Now that I have plenty of drive space, the only problem will be logistics.  I'm using Tidy Up to locate duplicate files but that only gets me part of the way there.
    Ideal scenario is locate all the "music" folders from various users in my household and various hard drives and eliminate the duplicate files.  Then I just create one massive music folder, and point iTunes to that folder and all the music will magically be in iTunes.  Something tells me it's not that simple, especially when you have music by artist > album > song in iTunes.  I also have this crazy idea that I'll have that one big drive of music hooked up to my Airport Extreme and I cam listen to it on various machines throughout the house.  (Didn't Apple say I could do this one day??)
    So to summarize:
    Can I just let iTunes do the work of organizing all the music?  Will it also delete duplicates?  (I'm assuming Tidy Up will be the thing for that.)
    Can I hang the drive off my Airport router and access that in that special AirTunes way?
    Hope that makes sense....please go easy.   I'm just an idiot with a lotta hard drives....
    Lee

    I guess I can reply to my own post.  I wanted to add that, although I see a lot of similar posts about organizing with iTunes, I don't see one as complex as my scenario.  Unless I'm missing something.
    Thanks in advance, O Great Apple Discussion Board People.....

  • How do I split a single event with many clips into multiples events, one event per date?

    I archived the video from my AVCHD camera into a Final Cut video archive. Later I imported this into iMovie. All the clips from this archive (spanning several months) are dumped into a single event. If I recall, older versions of iMovie would import video into separate events for each day. Then I would go through and give each event a meaningful name (e.g., "Mary's Birthday").
    This is what I would like. Is there a way to split this very long event into multiple events, one for each day that is present in the event?

    Not automatically but with imovie 10 you can create new events with any name you like then move clips into them from other events  (Just like FCP 10.1).   See:
    http://help.apple.com/imovie/mac/10.0/#mov1d890f00b
    You can also choose to display clips in an event grouped by date.

  • Split pictures into a new event?

    I took two sets of pictures, one last night and one today. When I imported the pics into iPhoto, I was hoping it would split them into two different events, since they were taken on different days, but it imported them all into a single event. How can I select a range of pictures in this event and split them into a new event?

    While viewing the photos in the Photo mode of iPhoto with the View ➙ Sort set to By Date Command-click on  the photos you want to put in their own Event and use the Event ➙ Create Event menu option.

  • How do I consolidate multiple iPhoto libraries on multiple machines into a single Aperture libraries?

    Hullo all,
    I run a smallish studio at a University, and I have inherited multiple Macs (2 Powerbooks, 2 Mac Pros) running multiple OS (2 on Mavericks, 2 on 10.7) and multiple versions of iPhoto. These have been used for photo and video work over the years, and each has its own stash of content, project files, etc. In an effort to organize, I wish to consolidate all the various iPhoto and Aperture libraries into a single library. I have a 16TB Pegasis RAID available via Thunderbolt to hold the material. Can anyone tell me the best way to go about this? My background is 20 years production work in film and video and I am rather new to still photo work and as such, do not know much about maintaining archives etc.
    If I read correctly from other questions, I need to update all versions of iPhoto to be the same, establish the library on the Pegasus, then export all the files to that library? Is this correct? I am not sure I can update all computers to the current version (one is a late 2009 MacPro) Is there any easier way to do it? I am happy to purchase software if that makes the process easier.
    Cheers! Thanks for any info!

    iPhoto does not support to merge libraries into one.
    The utility  iPhoto Library Manager can merge libraries -
    download here: iPhoto Library Manager
    If you have access to Aperture, you can also use it to merge your libraries (see: Aperture 3.3: How to use Aperture to merge iPhoto libraries), but if you need to buy a tool, iPhoto Library Manager would be the more economic solution, and it is a must-have with iPhoto anyway.

  • Database files into a single disk or multiple disk ?

    Hi All,
    I want to install oracle database 11gR2 in to database server. This database server has three internal disk so I plan to put DBF,redo and ctl file in to different disk..
    but this is the optimal configuration by putting all the Database files (DBF,redo and ctl) into a differnt differnt disk or put all the files into a single disk with differnt partition? I want to minimize the disk I/O.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi;
    It depends what you expect from your system. You can put into a differnt differnt disk or put all the files into a single disk with differnt partition. If you put all in one partition its more managable, but It also bad for HA.
    You need to check your priorty and you need to decide what you have to do

    http://www.tex-edit.com/
    It can Merge files then Sort them easily, even has a remove duplicate lines script available.
    If the version you get doesn't have the sort perchance, here's a link, put sort in the search scripts box, get the second one, Sort Selection...
