Iphoto and imovie missing in OXS

Did a resect on my macbook air 2010 and reinstall OXS lion, iphoto and imovie missing.Log into App store to download this two app, still the same. Can anyone help?thank you!

Did you follow the instructions contained here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718
That will work if you purchased the machine new with the ilife apps or you bought them at the app store.
If you purchased the machine used, then the license is not transferable as it is tied to the original owner - you would need to purchase them using your own Apple ID.

  • Missing iPhoto and iMovie

I rebooted my MacBook Pro OS X Version 10.9.4 and now my iPhoto and iMovie are missing. I don't have iLife disks because they didn't come with my laptop also tried looking for it in purchases on the App store not there and I didn't set up Time Machine so can't use that either. Is there any way I can restore them?

In the App Store click on Purchases and see if you can download from there.

  • My iPhoto and iMovie go missing after upgrade to Mavericks. How do I get it back?

I recently upgraded to Mavericks and my iPhoto and iMovie went missing.  How do i get it back. I do not want to pay for it.

First if you haven't done so already click on the Apple Logout > and make sure you don't have more than one user account...  If you don't log back in and see if your files came back.  Try this:
press command + space keys > Search for terminal then hit enter.
from command line > type: cd ~/Documents (or Desktop or Pictures just depends where you had your files)
then type: ls -a (this will list all files even hidden ones let me know if you see your files or not)
*Note: Be sure to read the instructions carefuly and ask questions if you don't understand something.

  • Iphoto and imovie and garageband don't work!!

iphoto and imovie and garageband will not reinstall, but they worked after upgrading to mountain lion, but have had to do a clean install and i can't get them to install now, any suggestions please?
    thanks!

    I have the same probleme
Nevethless, I just tried the following scenario :
On my Imac (OS X Lion), I have two user accounts, mine and one for my daughter.
    1. If my daughter send me an email from her account and her Iphoto using iphoto template, I receive her email on my accouint perfectly. I do not have  the message "plug-in missing".
    2. On the other hand, if I send  an email from my account and my Iphoto using iphoto template to my daughter, she receives my email on her account with the message "plug-in missing".
It seems the probleme comes from either my iphoto or my domain an dnot from my mail application. But no idea to fix it.

  • How to reinstall Garageband, iPhoto and iMovie

Three weeks ago, while I was surfing the net, the Macbook I was using suddenly displayed a message asking me to turn off and restart.  I turned it off but it could not get restarted beyond the "sign on" screen.  I tried to reinstall the OSx by using the CD that came along with the Macbook, but it could not work either. So I brought the Macbook to an authorised Apple Store, the technician on duty tried to do the installation as well but to no avail.  I was told to leave the set there and to collect it 4 days later.  True enough, I got my set back after the third day, I was told that since I upgraded the OSx from Snow Leopard to Lion, I could no longer use the CDs for reinstallation.  The store also warned me that for this round, the reinstallation was free but for similar future installation, I would have to pay for service charge (by the way, my set is still under warranty).
The store also told me that I could reinstall Lion on-line but then I found these applications iPhoto, iMovie and GrarageBand missing after the reinstallation.  Again the technician on duty reinstalled Lion several times but could not get these applications back.  With no other help available, I took the set home and tried reinstallation several more times and tried downloading these applications without success.  Finally, I went on-line to Apple Store to do a download, for iPhoto and iMovie I was billed but for GarageBand it was also downloaded but could not work, each time I click the icon, an error message "the instrument library is invalid" appear. Can anyone please help.

    That is completely incorrect.

All you need to do to get these applications back is to insert disc 2 that originally came with your mac.  I know this for sure because I just did a fresh install of Lion and the applications were missing as well, so I inserted disc 2 that came with my mac and reinstalled them (my mac originally came with Snow Leopard). It has those applications on it as well as the Apple Hardware Test.  The people who you talked to have no idea what they are talking about.

  • Can't update preinstalled iPhoto and iMovie Apps.

    Hi,
Finally converted to Mac for the first time upon receiving a shiny new Macbook Pro yesterday morning, however I have encountered a slightly annoying problem already.
I have notifications in the App store to say that iPhoto and iMovie need updating. These came preinstalled on my new MBP. When I try to update however, I get an error message asking me to sign up to the account from which I purchased them.
I did look on this forum and saw that this is a common-ish problem, and that usually a fix can be found in instances where these Apps are pre-installed by going into the purchases tab on the App store and 'accepting' the iLife Apps. However, when I click that tab I'm told I haven't yet purchased anything. When I go into System Pref. and Users, my admin account is linked to my Apple ID there, so I can't see why the preinstalled Apps are not showing up on my purchase record so can 'accept' them and thus update.
As I'm new to Mac I just thought I'd post here in case I'm missing something pretty basic that would solve this issue, if not I'll get in touch with Apple.

The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. As a man from Mexico my first language is Spanish. I do not speak English, however I do write in English with the aid of the Mac OS X spelling and grammar checks. I also live in a culture perhaps very very different from your own. When offering advice in the ASC, my comments are not meant to be anything more than helpful and certainly not to be taken as insults.
Since you are new to Apple, have you ever actually established an iTunes/Mac App Store account with this Apple ID and/or made a purchase with it?

  • After upgrading to Mavericks I cannot update iPhoto and iMovie. Why?

Just got my first Mac, an iMac. I upgraded to Maverick and once done I find there are updates available for iPhoto and iMovie. First I have tried to register "accept" the two apps. Nothing happens. Then I try to update them and get the answer that these apps was installed with another Apple ID. The thing is that I don't have any other Apple ID and noone else has touched my iMac. I have tried to reinstall Maverick three times now but end up with the same result. Anyone who has any clue or have experienced the same problem?

Open System Preferences > Users & Groups then select the Password tab.
Make sure you see the correct Apple ID.
    If not, click Change.
Make sure you are logged into your admin account before updating apps.
Reinstalling Mavericks requires using OS X Recovery  but there's no reason to reinstall Mavericks just to update your apps.

I am having the same problem.  I even changed my password and updated all of my security information.  Now it just gives me an error and retry message, which of course also does not work.  Went to support and was going to open a chat (seemed the simpler option) and received a message that my support has expired for this serial number unless I want to pay $29.00.  So I chose the option to call later, which was the exact time suck I was trying to avoid.  Why wouldn't the new operating system also update the apps that were already part of my old platform?

  • Unable to update iPhoto and iMovie. "Update Unavailable with This Apple ID"

I updated to Yosemite and all went well but for the message "Update Unavailable with This Apple ID" for the two apps iPhoto and iMovie. I have tried using the terminal window and used code that others have suggested and obtained a SmartSearch. I deleted everything in that folder and I still can't update these two apps. The other apps updated without problems. Thanks for any help.

For a couple of years now, the verson of the iLife apps that come preinstalled on new Macs are the Mac App Store (MAS) versions. MAS apps have the Apple ID that bought them encoded in the app as an anti-piracy scheme. Since these apps are preinstalled, before using any of the three apps, the new Mac owner must open the MAS, go to the Purchases pane and accept these apps into their MAS account. This allows the MAS to encode the owners Apple ID into the apps.
Failure to accept these apps into your account and have them encoded with your Apple ID before using one of them renders the apps "as is" and they cannot be updated or downloaded to another Mac. The only way that I know of to rectify the problem is to use OS X Recovery to erase the Mac and reinstall OS X and the iLife apps, so that the initial setup can be attempted again and the apps be accepted into the MAS account and encoded with the Apple ID.

  • Unable to update iPhoto and iMovie?

When i try to update iPhoto and iMovie, this first message appears: "Update Unavailable with This Apple ID - This update is for an app downloaded with a different Apple ID. Sign in with that Apple ID and try again" so i press ok and a second message appears: "We could not complete your request - There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (100)"
Can someone explain me what this error means? and what can i do to fix it?
    Thank you

It means what it says: The apps were bought or installed by someone with a different ID to yours. So, in effect, these are belong to that person and you can't update them.
This can arise if you've bought a second hand machine, or if you've bought an open box machine, or even if the Mac was set up for you by the shop where you bought it. Or, if you used one Apple ID to set up the machine and are using a different one now. Of course, it can also be caused by installing pirated software.
    So, what to do:
Where did you get the machine? If it was second hand, or open box then you need to get back to the vendor.
If you used a different Apple ID then sign in with that one.
And, if the software is pirated then delete it and purchase legally.
    Other than that:
Contact App Store support. There's a link on the right hand side of the App Store Window. They're the only ones who can sort out account issues.

  • HT4710 Updates for iPhoto and iMovie in the Mac App Store

    Hi,
I recently bought a new computer running Lion. When I started using the computer, I opened the Mac App Store and signed in with my Apple ID (the same one I've always used for buying apps from there, music from the iTunes store, and apps for my iPhone). I am able to easily access and download my old purchased apps to my new computer without a problem. However, in the updates section it shows updates available for both iPhoto and iMovie, but when I go to update them I get this message, "To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it." iPhoto and iMovie came on the new computer, and the only Apple ID account that I have ever used is the one that I am currently signed in under. Does anyone have any idea how I can get these updates, or at the very minimum, get rid of them so that they do not show up anymore (frankly, I find the red circle very annoying, and I don't really use either of these apps so I'm not too concerned about them).
    Thanks!
Sorry, I found a few other questions about this same thing after posting, so I'll try those solutions.

Open iTunes on the new Mac, sign into your account and view your account information. There is a section for Purchase History where you can view the invoices for everything that you have ever bought from the iTunes stores and the Mac App Store.

  • I deleted iPhoto and iMovie which came with my system , how do i reinstall it without paying for the app

    Hi,
I have a mac book pro retina, i had iPhoto and iMovie app with the OS while purchase. the iPhoto and iMovie updates were using my old apple-id and i wasnt able to update my app due to that, so i deleted those apps and wanted to reinstall that. so my new apple-id would be picked up.
but i didnt realize these were paid apps. ouch. so is there a way i can restore these apps ?
    thanks
    shankar

Have you tried signing in with your old Apple ID? All software obtained at the app store is tied to the Apple ID used to obtain it forever. If you start with a new Apple ID, then you will need to purchase it again.
FWIW, please do not post duplicate posts - it gets too confusing.

  • How to change the Apple ID for iPhotos and iMovies(The first ID used in the mac book)?

I found that every time when I want to update the iphotos and imovies and the native apps in the mac book it is needed to use the first apple id that used for the first time you turn on the mac book.
Since that id is not used now and i want to change it, any body knows how to change it?
And although my current admin id has changed, but still when updating iphotos the very first id is needed...

Correct.  Apps are Tied to the Apple ID that Purchased them...
    From Here   http://support.apple.com/kb/HE37
I have multiple Apple IDs. Is there a way for me to merge them into a single Apple ID?
Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs.
