IPhoto and iMovie Updates

Bought my MacPro from someone through eBay and bundled with iPhoto and iMovie. Even after registering the product, I couldn't download the updates for the 2 programs because they can only be updated using that person's Apple ID. Help please? Thanks.

Sorry - you either need to get access form the seller or contact the App store support (link on the right side of the App store window) - only they can help you

  • Won't install iPhoto and iMovie updates

I really hate the apple.  I can't open my iPhoto because I downloaded OS X months ago.  I am sick of the App Store icon showing I have two updates - iPhone and iMovie - that I can NOT update.  Also I am blocked from getting into iPhoto to boot!!!!
Here's what's on the screen when I try to update these programs.
Update Unavailable with this apple ID.
This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled.
WRONG! I purchased this computer and did not return, cancel, or refund one thing in it.
    And now the next notice:
We could not complete your request.
There was an error in the App Store.  Please try again later. (null)
Someone please tell me how I contact the App Store?  And why doesn't the store fix itself?
    I hate my computer.
    Thank you.

iPhoto came preinstalled on your new Mac, right?
Did the Apple Store help you to set up the Mac? Did anybody else help with setting up the Mac?  You might accidentally be using an iPhoto version, that you accepted on another Mac with another AppleID.  If you only have one AppleID and nobody else helped with setting up the Mac, then the Apple Store may have made a mistake and sold you a refurbished Mac or second hand mac, that has already been setup by someone else. Can you upgrade iMovie? There might be the same problem.
Apple Support should be able to check the Serial Number of your Mac, and see, if it has been previously bound to a different AppleID.

  • IPhoto and iMovie won't update.  Repeated Thunderbolt update req.

    Hi,
    Since downloading Mavericks last night:
1.) Both iPhoto and iMovie updates fail to download- they get to almost halfway and then an error pops up that it can't be completed.
2.) Additionally, I am getting a repeated Thunderbolt firmware update 1.2 no matter how many times i update and restart.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

I was trying to update iphoto 9.4.3, through the app store. then this message comes up
you have updates available for other accounts
to update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it.
i'm the only one on my mac. i only have 1 itunes account so it has nothing to do with any UserID issue. i tried reindexing spotlight. This has been an issue for about a month now.  Then i deleted iPhoto app and securely emptied the trash. All my software was in my macbook pro when it was shipped to me Feb. 2011. These are the two software, in question. iMovie is giving me the same message now.
apple software - iWork    065-7672    no iWork preinstalled
apple software - final cut exp    065-7674    no final cut express (from my Apple receipt)
I hope I gave you all the answers you need to help me, Thank you, TD

  • I deleted iPhoto and iMovie which came with my system , how do i reinstall it without paying for the app

    Hi,
I have a mac book pro retina, i had iPhoto and iMovie app with the OS while purchase. the iPhoto and iMovie updates were using my old apple-id and i wasnt able to update my app due to that, so i deleted those apps and wanted to reinstall that. so my new apple-id would be picked up.
but i didnt realize these were paid apps. ouch. so is there a way i can restore these apps ?
    thanks
    shankar

Have you tried signing in with your old Apple ID? All software obtained at the app store is tied to the Apple ID used to obtain it forever. If you start with a new Apple ID, then you will need to purchase it again.
FWIW, please do not post duplicate posts - it gets too confusing.

  • After upgrading to Mavericks I cannot update iPhoto and iMovie. Why?

Just got my first Mac, an iMac. I upgraded to Maverick and once done I find there are updates available for iPhoto and iMovie. First I have tried to register "accept" the two apps. Nothing happens. Then I try to update them and get the answer that these apps was installed with another Apple ID. The thing is that I don't have any other Apple ID and noone else has touched my iMac. I have tried to reinstall Maverick three times now but end up with the same result. Anyone who has any clue or have experienced the same problem?

Open System Preferences > Users & Groups then select the Password tab.
Make sure you see the correct Apple ID.
    If not, click Change.
Make sure you are logged into your admin account before updating apps.
Reinstalling Mavericks requires using OS X Recovery  but there's no reason to reinstall Mavericks just to update your apps.

I am having the same problem.  I even changed my password and updated all of my security information.  Now it just gives me an error and retry message, which of course also does not work.  Went to support and was going to open a chat (seemed the simpler option) and received a message that my support has expired for this serial number unless I want to pay $29.00.  So I chose the option to call later, which was the exact time suck I was trying to avoid.  Why wouldn't the new operating system also update the apps that were already part of my old platform?

  • Unable to update iPhoto and iMovie. "Update Unavailable with This Apple ID"

I updated to Yosemite and all went well but for the message "Update Unavailable with This Apple ID" for the two apps iPhoto and iMovie. I have tried using the terminal window and used code that others have suggested and obtained a SmartSearch. I deleted everything in that folder and I still can't update these two apps. The other apps updated without problems. Thanks for any help.

For a couple of years now, the verson of the iLife apps that come preinstalled on new Macs are the Mac App Store (MAS) versions. MAS apps have the Apple ID that bought them encoded in the app as an anti-piracy scheme. Since these apps are preinstalled, before using any of the three apps, the new Mac owner must open the MAS, go to the Purchases pane and accept these apps into their MAS account. This allows the MAS to encode the owners Apple ID into the apps.
Failure to accept these apps into your account and have them encoded with your Apple ID before using one of them renders the apps "as is" and they cannot be updated or downloaded to another Mac. The only way that I know of to rectify the problem is to use OS X Recovery to erase the Mac and reinstall OS X and the iLife apps, so that the initial setup can be attempted again and the apps be accepted into the MAS account and encoded with the Apple ID.

  • Unable to update iPhoto and iMovie?

When i try to update iPhoto and iMovie, this first message appears: "Update Unavailable with This Apple ID - This update is for an app downloaded with a different Apple ID. Sign in with that Apple ID and try again" so i press ok and a second message appears: "We could not complete your request - There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (100)"
Can someone explain me what this error means? and what can i do to fix it?
    Thank you

It means what it says: The apps were bought or installed by someone with a different ID to yours. So, in effect, these are belong to that person and you can't update them.
This can arise if you've bought a second hand machine, or if you've bought an open box machine, or even if the Mac was set up for you by the shop where you bought it. Or, if you used one Apple ID to set up the machine and are using a different one now. Of course, it can also be caused by installing pirated software.
    So, what to do:
Where did you get the machine? If it was second hand, or open box then you need to get back to the vendor.
If you used a different Apple ID then sign in with that one.
And, if the software is pirated then delete it and purchase legally.
    Other than that:
Contact App Store support. There's a link on the right hand side of the App Store Window. They're the only ones who can sort out account issues.

  • HT4710 Updates for iPhoto and iMovie in the Mac App Store

    Hi,
I recently bought a new computer running Lion. When I started using the computer, I opened the Mac App Store and signed in with my Apple ID (the same one I've always used for buying apps from there, music from the iTunes store, and apps for my iPhone). I am able to easily access and download my old purchased apps to my new computer without a problem. However, in the updates section it shows updates available for both iPhoto and iMovie, but when I go to update them I get this message, "To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it." iPhoto and iMovie came on the new computer, and the only Apple ID account that I have ever used is the one that I am currently signed in under. Does anyone have any idea how I can get these updates, or at the very minimum, get rid of them so that they do not show up anymore (frankly, I find the red circle very annoying, and I don't really use either of these apps so I'm not too concerned about them).
    Thanks!
Sorry, I found a few other questions about this same thing after posting, so I'll try those solutions.

Open iTunes on the new Mac, sign into your account and view your account information. There is a section for Purchase History where you can view the invoices for everything that you have ever bought from the iTunes stores and the Mac App Store.

  • Problem updating pre-installed iPhoto and iMovie "to update this application, sign into the account you used to purchase it"

My dad bought a new retina macbook pro over a year ago.
The pre-installed iPhoto and iMovie applicaitons get this error when trying to download an update:
"to update this application, sign into the account you used to purchase it"
We are logged into the only account that he has ever had.
    He has mountain lion.
It's very annoying and there's no way we know of to get around it. Searching and searching online led nowhere.
    Please help!!!!!

    You cannot.
As requested... You need to use the SAME Apple ID that Originally made the Purchase of whatever Application you are trying to Update.

  • HT1338 Being prompted to update iPhoto and iMovie, but getting message "To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it."  My email has not changed.  Any ideas?  -gb

I am being prompted to update iPhoto and iMovie, but getting the message: "To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it."  These came already loaded on my laptop, and my email has not changed.  Any ideas or work-arounds?

Has your Apple ID changed, that's the one that matters.
You need to sign in under the account that purchased these apps (did you buy this Mac new)

  • HT1338 Can't update my iPhoto and iMovie! Always pop up a window says "you have updates available for other accounts; To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it."

How could I update my apps with my only apple account?

I had this issue too after installing Mountain Lion (like others in the thread, I also just have one account/ID). The Spotlight fix didn't work. I ended up uninstalling iPhoto and iMovie and purchasing them from the App Store, hoping I'd be able to claim a refund later. It got rid of the update messages fine, but it's harder than I expected to find somewhere to ask for a refund. I can't enter a Taiwan number to call on the support site.
This is my first Mac - what with this and the ML battery bug, things aren't going as smoothly as I expected.

  • Can't update iPhoto and iMovie.

I recently purchased a Macbook Pro Retina, and once everything was set up, the Mac App store tells me I have updates for iPhoto and iMovie. However, when I tried updating them, I get the follwong message: You have updates available for other accounts. To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it.
I only have one iTunes account for the past several years, and I just bought this laptop. Anyone have any solutions?

    Might be pirated apps...
Try the suggetion here >  “You have updates available for other accounts” bug
If that doesn't help, report the issue to Apple using the email form here >  Mac App Store - Contact Support
