Iphoto and snapfish

I am trying to upload photos from my iphoto library to snapfish.com and when I click "upload now" to choose photos, everything on my computer BUT iphoto library comes up-in my pictures folder, the only thing in there is photobooth--I cannot figure out how to transfer iphoto library albums to snapfish.

It has been thought that the iMAC Leopard OS is too far advanced to use the online program SNAPFISH and upload photo images with ease, unlike the PC. NOT!
Here, then, is the Plan Of Action.. Once your photos have been uploaded to iPhoto and placed into Albums, then you can make adjustments: ie Crop, Enhance, Retouch, Straighten and otherwise fiddle with things, and then LATER order Snapfish prints later via your iMAC.
Keep the Originals on the camera’s memory chip for a few days if necessary. For sure make an Archive on a CD.
Rename, retouch, enhance those photos if necessary, HOWEVER DO NOT CROP!
When you are totally satisfied, then copy the acceptable photos over into a NEW Photos Snapfish Folder on the iMac desktop. Simply Right-Click on the iMac desktop, create a folder, and name it.. Like: *Photos for Snapfish..* Something clever..
Then, Whilst in your iMac computer, launch Snapfish via SAFARI, and upload those photos you want FROM that nifty folder on your desktop.
Do not even think of going to Windows for iMac and then to the Internet and then Snapfish.
Whilst in Snapfish, make sure you FIX and ENHANCE (crop) those uploaded photos. Then and only then, do you crop. Unfortunately, Snapfish is a limited program and cropping is just not that sophisticated.
Then, back to the iMac for final cropping of the original photos, (etc) You still have the Originals.
Hope this works for you, it does for me. Lapaka

  • Using iPhoto and Snapfish

I am trying to use Snapfish (www.snapfish.com) to share my photos with others and keep getting the message:
"The page “Snapfish: Upload Pictures” has content of MIME type “application/x-photocenter-upload”. Because you don’t have a plug-in installed for this MIME type, this content can’t be displayed."
Any ideas what this means or what I need to do to be able to use Snapfish? Thanks!

  • IPhoto, Safari and Snapfish

My wife is trying to using Snapfish (www.snapfish.com) to share photos with others. When she trys to upload pictures using the QuickUpload tool Safari says it can't find the plug-in. We keep getting the getting the message:
"The page “Snapfish: Upload Pictures” has content of MIME type “application/x-photocenter-upload”. Because you don’t have a plug-in installed for this MIME type, this content can’t be displayed."
Snapfish doesn't provide any help or assistance. Any ideas.
    Thank you!

    Christopher,
You are right. It's not working. I don't know if it is the site, or Safari that is to blame.
I can tell you that this site does not integrate with iPhoto. You will find it very hard to navigate your iPhoto Library folder in the finder to find the photos you want to upload. You would have to share>export the images to a new folder on your desktop and then upload from that folder. Not a good and easy way to upload.
May I suggest you sign up for a different Online photo gallery site that is better integrated with iPhoto.
Shutterfly has an Smart upload program that you can download. You then drag images from the iPhoto Library into the top window of the smart upload program to upload them.
Flickr has an iPhoto plugin in that works directly with iPhoto.
ClubPhoto has a program available called PictureSync.app (it is actually not affiliated with clubPhoto but works with clubPhoto and other photo sites. You select all the images in iPhoto and run the software.
Good luck and sorry I couldn't help you with Snapfish. You might want to email them and tell them the problem.
You can use PictureSync to directly upload selected images in iPhoto to Flickr, Fotki, Zoto, SmugMug, Vimeo, You Tube, Photobucket, Webshots, 23, Buzznet, Club Photo, Textamerica, Foto Time and Real PhotoVideo.

  • IPhoto 06 and Snapfish

Is anyone having problems with Intel-based iPhoto 06 and Snapfish, the online photo sharing and printer service?
I was able to download their QuickUpload for Mac tool and get it working with iMac G5. I am unable to get the tool to work with new iMac Intel-based machine.
Is this a difference between PowerPC and Intel software for Mac?

  • I am making an album with Snapfish and would like to download ome of my photos from iphoto to snapfish, is this possible?

I am making an album with Snapfish and would like to download some of my photos from iphoto to Snapfish, is this possible?

    You mean "upload"?
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:   You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps.  If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running:
For users of 10.6 and later:  You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation  which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu.
Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and 10.5 Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
Show File:  a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier:  Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.    3.b.
b: On iPhoto 11 and later: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

  • After upgrading to Mavericks I cannot update iPhoto and iMovie. Why?

Just got my first Mac, an iMac. I upgraded to Maverick and once done I find there are updates available for iPhoto and iMovie. First I have tried to register "accept" the two apps. Nothing happens. Then I try to update them and get the answer that these apps was installed with another Apple ID. The thing is that I don't have any other Apple ID and noone else has touched my iMac. I have tried to reinstall Maverick three times now but end up with the same result. Anyone who has any clue or have experienced the same problem?

Open System Preferences > Users & Groups then select the Password tab.
Make sure you see the correct Apple ID.
    If not, click Change.
Make sure you are logged into your admin account before updating apps.
Reinstalling Mavericks requires using OS X Recovery  but there's no reason to reinstall Mavericks just to update your apps.

On the bottom bar of the window (on the left iPhoto 11, on the right in other versions) note the slider. Drag it left.

  • Using iPhoto and editing with Photoshop Elements 4

    Hello
I am new to Macs after many years using PC and I am struggling to set up my photo workflow. I shoot in RAW format and input into iPhoto from iPhoto I double click on the photo and which opens the RAW editor in Photoshop Elements. After making changes I open the file in Photoshop and then save as a TIFF.
My problem is I do not see the changed and saved file in iPhoto and if I double click on the photo again it opens back up in the RAW editor not as a TIFF.
Can any one point me in the right direction to solve this or is what I am trying to do not possible
    Thanks

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
What you're trying to do is not possible.
When you save as a TIFF you create a whole new file that needs to be imported into iPhoto anew. iPhoto will track an edit as long as you stay with the same file - so, edit your jpeg in PSE and use the 'Save' command and the change is reflected in iPhoto. However, you cannot Save RAW files, it's always a Save As... and so the resulting file has to be imported.

  • Good morning, i would like to know how to take pictures from iphoto and put them in a folder on desktop

Good morning: would like to know how to take pictures from my iphoto and put them in a folder on my desktop

To take photos from iPhoto and put them onto a folder on Desktop, first create a folder on Desktop. Right-click on Desktop and create a new folder.
Then, open iPhoto, and you have two ways to export photos:
    1. Select the photos you want to copy to Desktop with Command key (or go to Edit menu > Select All, if you want to copy all photos), and then, drag them to the folder on Desktop.
    2. Select the photos you want to copy to Desktop with Command key, go to File menu > Export, and follow the steps.
You can choose the one you prefer

  • IPhoto and Photoshop CS3 Problem

I have been downloading my pictures into iPhoto and editing them in Photoshop(CS3) now. As long as I was shooting jpeg, I would just hit Save in Photoshop and the edited picture would show up in my iPhoto application, in in "modified" in iPhoto library.
Since I got Photoshop CS3, I have been shooting a lot more RAW. RAW images, saved TIFFS, don't seem to get saved to iPhoto application, just the Pictures/iPhoto Library folder. And I am noticing that edited pictures don't automatically go into modified, but stay in the originals file.
I am also noticing that even jpegs do not automatically get saved to the iPhoto application. They too open up the save to window for Pictures/iPhoto Library. All this since CS3.
So only the original files downloaded from my CF card are in iPhoto. I feel that something is wrong here. I should be able to have my edited files show up in my iPhoto application without re-importing them.
I tried a trial of Aperture, but my DT graphics card and processor can't handle the application. But that is not the point. What has happened that iPhoto has become essentially useless to view my modified photos?

    Birgit
This may be the source of the issue.
Bridge is NOT Photoshop, but an alternative file organiser. So when you set Bridge as an external editor you're really sending the pics to another organiser, not an editor. Presumably from there they go to Photoshop and are then saved back... to Bridge, not iPhoto.
Try setting PS as the editor not Bridge and see does that make a difference,
Also, when you send pics to an external editor, only a maximum of 4 will go. So you can only work in batches of four.

  • Question regarding iphoto and folders

I am a Mac newbie (9 months) and quite happy expect i freeze all the time after i installed lion, but that is for a different thread.;)
I had all of my pictures on an external hard drive.  I had them organized in folders by year (also had a Year/edited for family photos we changed) and then by date/event...ie, 2011 04-05 Easter Dinner at Dad's.
When I got my macbook pro, I hooked up the hard drive and iphoto took care of importing all the pictures.  (i have upgraded to iphoto 11).  At first, I LOVED it.  Putting face names in the pictures, etc, but after a while i got tired of having to reorganize them to find pictures the way i used to. I have over 15,000 pictures and renaming (even with the batch option) and moving them, and fixing dates, etc was becoming overwhelming.  I found myself longing for my very simple folder organization.  So i went  to look for the folders, eventually found them and found out there were folders for originals, modified, thumbnails, etc.  and when i went in my originals, they weren't in folders I had originally had on my external drive.
My wife, who is our picture editor, preffers photoshop and i have a windows laptop that i want to use for nothing other than pictures.
    So......my question is:
How can i best take my photo's and put them back on a hard drive and then transfer them to the other laptop?  Is there anyway to recover my old file system (deleted off the hard drive, except for an old backup but i have added thousands of pictures and have no way of telling which ones are in iphoto are old or new).  I am fearful that if I just copy iphoto to the hard drive that the windows laptop will not read them, or that it will still show up with all of the different folders (original, modified, thumbs, etc)
And/or, is there a program to manage pictures for my macbook pro that will keep photos in folders more similarly to how i did before, so it will be easy to move pics from one laptop to the other.
    Thanks!!!!

    1. You know that iPhoto can do all this.
    2. You can sort by Date -> View Menu -> Sort Photos.
    3. You can search by date -> Click on the Search icon and select calendar. Then you can find all the pics from any day, month or year
    4. You can search by date using Smart Albums too.
    5. You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.
    6. No there is no way to export back to your previous system. It's gone. You could have easily imported while mirroring that system, but it's too late for that now.
    7. To get Photos out of iPhoto: File -> Export.  Apps like iPhoto2Disk or PhotoShare will help you export to a Folder tree matching your Events.
    8. iPhoto can run a Referenced Library (where you have your own folder system) but I don't recommend it - especially for people unfamiliar with iPhoto and Macs. It also adds no extra functionality at all. It's just dumb storage.

  • Ok I know people are having this problem. I updated to the latest version of iPhoto and now I get the following:  "Your photo library is either in use by another application or has become unreadable". Can someone please point me to a fix?

    This is super frustrating.
I tried to uninstall iPhoto and all related files and then reinstall but I keep getting the same result.
I have spent hours trying to fix this and nothing seems to work. I am pretty good with computers so I think this requires some expert help. I notice many people are stuck with this problem. Do I have to go and buy the disk from the store? How ironic that I was updating the software online so I could use photostream. Now the solution may be I need to go back to the "old school" way of doing things. Lucky I don't have a mac airbook. Lol.

Re-installing the app is unlikely to help because the problem is with the Library and not the application.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • Cannot Find Photos on External Hard Drive Using iPhoto and Time Machine

    Hi everyone,
This is my first time posting on this forum and am really hoping for some help! I have a 2006 PowerBook G4 that is running iPhoto and Time Machine, and I've used an external hard drive to backup everything on the computer via Time Machine. When I plug the external hard drive into my newer 2010 MacBook Pro, I follow this path to try to access the photos:
         External Hard Drive > Backups.backupd > PowerBook G4 12" > Latest > Macintosh HD > Users > Me > Pictures > iPhoto Library
When I click "iPhoto Library", I get the following message:
"The iPhoto Library is a Time Machine backup, and so cannot be used as the main library.  Relaunch iPhoto with <option> key held down to choose another   library."
So, I do as the error message says and I hold down the "option" key and iPhoto launches and says:
What Photo Library do you want iPhoto to use?
In this case, I choose "Other Library..." and again follow this path:
         External Hard Drive > Backups.backupd > PowerBook G4 12" > Latest > Macintosh HD > Users > Me > Pictures > iPhoto Library
When I choose this, I again get the following message:
The iPhoto Library is a Time Machine backup, and so cannot be used as the main library.  Relaunch iPhoto with <option> key held down to choose another   library.
So as you can see, I'm feeling a bit like I'm chasing my tail in trying to open these photos. I did follow another user's advice and confirm that all photos are infact on the hard drive by using the "control" button and clicking "iPhoto Library" under the pictures folder, and choosing "Show Package Contents". All looks to be in tact in the "originals" folder when showing package contents, however, I just can't find a way to actually view the photos in iPhoto. I really don't want to import all the photos to my current MacBook Pro, because I'd like them to live on the external hard drive (which is formatted for Macs) so that I can browse the photos on the external drive, rather than housing it on my computer.
One other thing I tried was opening iPhoto on my MacBook Pro and going to File > Browse Backups...  which essentially opens Time Machine and shows me the photos on my MacBook Pro but gives me no option to view them from my External Hard Drive.
Any super users out there willing to lend me some help?
    Thanks!

The iPhoto Library is a Time Machine backup, and so cannot be used as the main library.  Relaunch iPhoto with <option> key held down to choose another   library.
You can have an iPhoto library on an external drive and use it from different machines
and you can have a Time Machine backup
The two can not be on the same volume - and iPhoto can not access the TM backup - it must be restored to use it

  • How to delete photos from iPhoto and hard drive at the same time.

I need to remove some files from my iMac G5 in order to free up some space. I have some photos on my machine that I would like to delete. Is there a setting I can change so that I completely remove a photo from my machine when I delete the iPhoto thumbnail? If not, what is the best way to remove photos from my machine, and not leave thumbnails in iPhoto to photos that no longer exist on my machine etc. I'm using iLife 08 and the most recent version of Leopard on a third generation iMac G5.

To remove file from iPhoto and the HD simply put the files in the iPhoto trash and then go iPhoto Menu -> Empty trash.
This works if you're using iPhoto in the default setting, where the files are copied to the Library on import. If, however, you have a referenced library, you'll need to trash the files in your own folder structure yourself.
