IPhoto "Assign Place" map is blank - I used to see Google Map, now nothing, why?

I have used "Assign Place" for years and have numerous places identifying where photos have been taken. Today, when I tried to "assign a place" , iPhoto accepted the info, but the map window remained blank (terrain, satellite & hybrid…no difference- just a gray screen. I ollked at older photos that had an assigned place- same thing gray, blank screen in "assign place". Why?

What version of iPhoto and system are you running? If not what's showing in your profile update your profile.

Can I use MapKit without Google Map

I want to replace Google map with some other one, using MapKit overlay features as described in http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/OSM_in_MapKit . Would it be really OK according to Apple and Google terms?
I guess MapKit is Apple's product, so if I don't use Google maps there at all, then would Google terms be applicable at all?

Important: The Map Kit framework uses Google services to provide map data. Use of specific classes of this framework (and their associated interfaces) binds you to the Google Maps/Google Earth API terms of service.
If you use the mk api, you will use Goggle. If you don't want to use Google, don't use mk.

Safari and Wireless Router freezing while using Facebook or Google Maps

Hi
When I use some apps within Facebook or I'm using Google Maps the page freezes and I have to reset the router to get things going again.
Netcomm said to change the MTU setting in the router but problem still exists even after I changed the MTU to one of the suggested settings.
Any advice appreciated..

HI Colin,
Try Repairing Permissions using Disk Utility. Disk Utility is in your Applications/Utilities folder. Launch DU, select the FirstAid tab, then click Repair Disk Permissions. Only takes a few minutes to run. When it's finished, Quit Disk Utility from the Menu and reboot.
See if Facebook or Google Maps freezes.
This could be a Safari preference file issue also. Locate this file: com.apple.safari.plist
It's here: /Users/YourName/Library/Preferences. Drag that file from the Preferences folder to the Trash, empty the Trash and reboot. Try Facebook or Google Maps... see if it still freezes.

You should be able to restore the iLife apps, see this support article:

Google map for searching place and driving aid

I search the place before driving at home in my laptop using google map. this is very convenient.
I bought the windows phone, with the hope that it will be more closer to my laptop, which runs on windows.
but now when I type the URL for google map. it prompts me to install the google map. When I do so it says: " Can't download file Windows phone doesn't support this file type."
On checking with nokia customer support, they informed that we can't install any application on our phone, but the only one that are listed in " marketplace".
They say the Nokia map exists, but that isn't that rich as google maps.
Can anyone help if I can use the map search/ find direction in mobilie?

example: I create first room ,name is new. After enter room(new),I can look map and if other people come in, I change LatLng and their map also

Google map sometimes not appearing

When I moved to the desktop that is assigned to iPhoto, (and it is already launched and open there as usual in my setup) and select a photo, (including one that has a pin in the Google map) the Google map states in an big text overlay that I am not connected to the Internet. I am. The relevant light on the modem is lit, the Internet has been used just before and just after, I do not suffer from line dropouts and no other software has Internet trouble.
Sometimes the map appears after a few seconds (perhaps after I switch momentarily to another application etc.and back again), and sometimes I have to quit iPhoto and relaunch.
Any ideas please?
Please note that I am currently running in Safe Mode because iPhoto has been hanging in normal mode. However, the Google map problem exists also when running in normal mode.
(I think I saw a post about something at Google having been changed recently. Is that the problem, and is there a fix?)

Go into Safari's Privacy preference pane and click on the Details button. Then search for any Google cookies and delete them all. Restart both Safari and iPhoto and the maps should appear.
