IPhoto automatically starts when macbook starts up

Hello
i recently updated iPhoto to 9.5.1 and ever since then, every time i turn on my mac book air ,i photo automatically launches. I've checked the settings and i don't find anything to disable it from automatically starting /opening upon laptop start up.
does this happen to anyone else? what can i do to stop it from automatically starting??

Hello!
Please go to "apple menu > system preferences > users & groups" and remove iPhoto from the login items using the minus-button
Also, after clicking "apple menu > shut down" make sure the checkbox below in un-checked

  • IPhoto automatically starts up

I just inherited a G5 at work from a co-worker who left. I've created a new user account and log in under it. But for some reason iPhoto automatically starts when I log in.
I've looked under my system account preferences for start-up items, but nothing is selected. I don't see any automatic start-up selections under iPhoto preferences either. How can I prevent iPhoto from starting up every time I log in?
    Thanks.

Thanks for the tip about the dock icon, but "open at login" was not checked.
There is a Lacie hard drive that had been attached to my old G4 that is now plugged into this G5. Perhaps that is the culprit.
Is there a way to instruct iPhoto not to launch when it thinks a camera (or other USB device) is connected?
    Thanks.

Select Mail and press - (minus) icon at the left bottom of the window.

  • Turn off iPhoto automatically opening when iPod syncs

When I plug in my iPod Touch, iTunes automatically opens, as does iPhoto if I have saved photos on my iPod.  I don't want iPhoto to open up as sometimes I'm in the middle of other work.  Is there a way to turn off iPhoto from automatically opening whenever I plug my iPod Touch in to sync?

  • IPhoto automatically launches when I restart

IPhoto 5.0.4 seems to automatically launch everytime I restart. There isn't anything in /Library/StartupItems/ for this to occur, nor is there anything in the iPhoto preferences. Has this happened to anyone else? I don't know how to make it quit doing that.

    Thanks Peter!
That was the problem. Is that a new "feature" in Tiger? Also, I wonder why iPhoto got put in there in the first place.

  • Is there a way to NOT have iPhoto automatically launch when iPhone is...

    connected to my PowerBook?

After importing photos from the iPhone or from any digital camera with iPhoto, iPhoto includes the option to delete photos from the camera when the import process is complete.
Are you not provided with this option?
Photo storage on the iPhone is similar to that of iPhoto, iTunes and the Address Book application.
A photo cannot be in an iPhoto album without being available in the main iPhoto library also. Delete the original from the main iPhoto library that is available in an album or albums and the photo will no longer be available in the album or albums.
The same with iTunes and music Playlists and the Address Book application and Address Book Groups.
When selecting an iPhoto album to be transferred to the iPhone that contains 20 photos, all photos are available in the iPhone's Photo Library - this is like the main photo library with iPhoto on your Mac and all photos are available in the photo album transferred to your iPhone but this does not mean the photos are duplicated.
This is beneficial with transferring multiple iPhoto albums to the iPhone.
On the iPhone you have the following:
Camera Roll - stores photos captured by the iPhone only.
Photo Library - stores photos transferred from your computer to the iPhone only and stores all transferred photos available in all albums.
    Photo Albums.
I have the following with names of my iPhoto albums changed to protect the innocent.
    Photo Library (118)
    Album #1 (8)
    Album #2 (6)
    Album #3 (39)
    Album #4 (15)
    Album #5 (6)
    Album #6 (6)
    Album #7 (4)
    Album #8 (16)
    Album #9 (6)
    Album #10 (12)
All photos available in all albums totals 118 photos. This way I can select an album and view photos available in the selected album only or I can select Photo Library and view all photos available in all albums.
    Does this make sense?

  • Iphoto automatically opens when I connect my ITouch to my MAC

When I connect my Ipod Touch to my MAC, it opens IPhoto as well.

It does that when there are photos in the Saved Photos on your iPod. Import them into iTunes and delete them from your Saved Photos. If you want them on your iPod, you can sync them back to your iPod's photo album.
You can also go to iPhoto > Preferences > General and change the "Connecting Camera Opens:" preference to read "Nothing", but then you would have to open iPhoto manually when you want to import photos from your iPod or any cameras.

how can i disable imessage from automatically starting up when i turn on macbook air? i dont know my imessages to pop up on my laptop when it turns on. But i dont want to disable imessage totally on my macbook.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
First of all, check that Messages is closed when you turn off your MacBook. This is so important because, by default, OS X will reopen all opened apps the next time you start your Mac.
Apart from that, when you go to  > Shut Down, or  > Restart, in the window you see to restart or turn off your MacBook, unmark "Reopen windows when logging back in". This will avoid that your Mac opens all opened apps the next time you start the MacBook, so Messages won't start automatically at startup

How do I keep Firefox automatically starts when I boot up (OSX 10.6 .8 -- MacBook Pro Intel). It is not in the Startup Items in System Preferences, and automatic startup is not checked in Firefox Options.

    Hi fullrun-
Once Firefox is open, you should be able to open the Right click context menu on the icon. From there you select 'Options' and then de-select 'Open at Login'. Hope that helps.

You have 14 days to return the computer w/no questions asked.  Plus you have 90 days of FREE phone tech support on top of your standard 1 year warranty unless you also purchased AppleCare which gives you an additional 2 years of coverage plus FREE phone support.
Strongly suggest that you take FULL advantage of the above before it runs out.  Let Apple deal w/the problems.

  • How do i stop programs from automatically running when i start up my macbook?

how do i stop programs from automatically running when i start up my macbook?
programs such as.. email and Skype.
When i go to system preferences, then users & groups, then to my name, log in items ....this box is clear, i have unchecked everything, yet things still start up......

sometimes these applications will have a setting in the preferences to not open on login of computer. If you see none of that, you can go into:
system preferences> Users & Groups > Select your user>Login Items.
unlock the settings by hitting the lock icon on the bottom left of the window then youll be able to uncheck these things from opening when you log in.
Hope this is helpful or answers the question.

  • Disabling iTunes from automatically starting when Headphone plugged in

Hi, I have a Macbook Pro running OS X Yosemite Ver 10.10.1. Whenever I plug in my Apple headphone it in, the iTunes automatically starts and I would like to disable the same. Some times its very much annoying where in, even if I am talking on FaceTime using my head phone, (I am guessing some small movements of headphone triggering this) the  iTunes starts automatically and the songs start to play during the FaceTime call.
Does any one know how to disable the iTunes from not starting up automatically, whenever a Headphone is inserted into Mac. I can start iTunes whenever I want like any other application. But I just don’t want any automatic starting of iTunes, when I plug the headphone! Appreciate any help in this regard. Thanks!

I think the following solution seems to work:
+ Go to the  - System Preferences - Users and groups //Need admin privilege and unlock to edit etc.
+ Remove iTunes from Login Items
    + Click Login Items
+ then select iTunes Helper and then the - to remove the application
+ Force quit the iTunes if it was already running
Problem did not seem to reoccur in my case. I have not restarted the mac but it seemed to work! Try yours and update please.
