Iphoto book error message

I'm trying to buy and Iphoto book I created  but it keeps giving error code of Incomplete book.  "Your book seems to have grames on one or more pages that do not contain photos. "
All the pages are full with photos or text pages.
How can I find out the page that is the problem???

If you have any full page photos check the layout to make sure it's not this layout:
With that layout if you add just one photo it will be missing the second photo and give you that warning message.

  • Unable to assemble book error message

After selecting buy book, the bar says assembling book then quickly comes up with a error message saying unable to assemble book.* -[NSPlaceholderMutableString initWithString:]: nil argument . What is going on and how do I fix it.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. It might be that you have left a text box empty. Look thru the pages and in any text box that has no text just put a space. Then try again.
If that doens't help, make a backup copy of the library and rebuild the library as follows: launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select the first three options. Try again.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Iphoto 6 error message

I keep getting the error message: "The volume for (vid file name) cannot be found. Insert the disk or connect to the server volume and wait for it to appear on the desktop, then try again." I've deleted this file from my computer but I still get the message. When this happens, I get the choice to cancel or find the file and none of those options work.  It ends up freezing the program and I have to force quit.  I have rebuilt the library and I have run disk utility.  I am not much of a mac expert, so please speak s..l..o..w..l..y and clearly.     Any help would be appreciated!  Thanks!

Simpl rule: With iPhoto you do everything in the iPhoto Window - so to delete the movie you would put it in the iPhoto trash and then empty that.
As you have a Referenced Library, you should then - and only then - go and delete the file in the Finder. (With a managed Library you don't have this step.
As you've deleted the file in the Finder already you have corrupted the iPhoto Library.
If you dont know why you're using a Referenced Library can I suggest that you change it to a managed one. It's more simple.
So, I would check the box in the iPhoto Preferences. Then
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • When opening the latest version of Iphoto an error message appears that says; You can't open your current iphoto library using this version of Iphoto. You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iphoto. Please quit and use the lat

When opening the version of Iphoto i have an error message appears that says; You can't open your current iphoto library using this version of Iphoto. You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iphoto. Please quit and use the latest version of iphoto. What? If I can't open the current library using the latest version of iphoto, and I am asked to make changes the the newest version!!! I'm asked to run in circles chasing my tail...I had a new hard drive installed about 6 weeks ago. I am running MAC OS 10.5.8

What version of iPhoto do you have? If you're on 10.5 then you're not running the latest iPhoto
Any chance that the library was opened with another version?
Simplest solution will be to just restore from your back up.

  • "Buy Book" error message

When I select "Buy Book" after completing my latest iphoto book I get this message: "Your book appears to have default text that has not yet been edited. Printed books will not include this text. Do you want to continue with your order?" I have never gotten this warning message on any previous iphoto book orders. I cannot see any default text that I haven't edited. Any idea what is going on? Will my finished book look just like it does on screen or will there be some "surprise" as this message indicates?

Look at the "hidden" PDF file before committing and see what it looks like as that is what's going to the printer. If it looks OK that is all you need to worry about. It could be a space left in an empty text box for all you know.

  • IPhoto book error when trying to preview book

When I try to preview my iPhoto book it starts "assembling book" but when it gets to page 14 it fails with the following error "The operation couldn't be completed. (com.apple.chameleon.componentGenerator error 8.)"
Does anyone have any advice on how to resolve this? Thanks!

    Hi there,
Are you able to reproduce the issue consistantly with the project. Can you please ask your coworker to publish a blank project and see its working fine or not?. In case if the issue is project specific, then can you please send the .cptx file to us so that we can investigate the issue at our end. Please upload it to a shared workspace(Acrobat.com) and send me the link at [email protected]
    Thanks,
    Nimmy Sukumaran.

  • I can't print from iPhoto. Error message says no themes. This is a recent problem.

A recent error message says I can't print because I have no themes available. What is a theme and why do I need it. I just want to print. I now have to go to Preview to print my photos.

The iPhoto themes are located in the HD/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder. Verify that the iPhoto folder contains these items:
If you do have these items in the iPhoto folder repair disk permissions with Disk Utility and try iPhoto again.
If that fails then reapply the iPhoto 9.3 updater and try once again.  You are running 9.3, right?

  • Iphoto '11 error message - not enough space on disk..

Really struggling with iphoto '11 - version 9.3.2
I keep getting the following error message: 'There may not be enough space on the disk containing your iPhoto library to import these photo'.  I've already read and attemped some of the suggestions in the thread below - and nothing worked unfortunately.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2676958
For info, I originally set up iphoto as a disk image - to enabled shared viewing/editing between two users on the same mac.  This has worked fine for the last two years, but obvioiusly running low on space as i've added photos.
I've already tried creating a new disk image with increased capacity, copied over the files, and directed iphoto to open this instead.. but not worked - getting same message.
Have also checked disk image format type - i'm using 'Mac OS Extended (Journaled)' which i believe is the right one ??
    Any advice, much appreciated.
    thanks,
    Neil

    Hi,
On the old one - only 7MB (hence I created a new one with more space).
I have photos using a total of 18.5 GB, the new disk image has a 40GB capacity.  Still getting the same out of space error message though.

  • Each time I try to export from iPhoto an error message comes up.

Iphoto will not export slide shows.  Each time I select export it shuts down.

I have no idea why the terminal commands didn't work, but then again, I'm no UNIX expert. But you can achieve the same thing by downloading BatchMod from
    http://macchampion.com/arbysoft/
And apply it to the iPhoto Library Folder using the settings found here:

  • Error message on iPhoto 9.5.1

I have mavericks and I photo 9.5.1. when I try to start iPhoto get error message "can't open album. Upgrade to latest version. But I can't reinstall as in app store it says iPhoto already installed. what do i do?

    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
    2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List* there.
For older versions that have been installed from Disk you'll need these additional steps:
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 or later they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
*Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4928
One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.
