Iphoto book no longer shows pictures

Opened a previously completed iphoto book.  Immediate message "book has been successfully upgraded".  Not sure what this means but when opening the book all of the placed pistures were not on th respective pages although the narrative was.  Pictures are in the project but not in the book.  I am afraid to open up other books as manybooks are fairly large and I do not want to have to go back and replicate.  Howcan I open without losing the pictures on the pages?  Thaks for any help.  Using iphoto 11 9.2.1

Find the Event that contains one of the photos in the book and doiuble click on the photo's thumbnail. Tell us what you see.  If it's a blank window with the following:
then iPhoto has lost/broken the link/file path to the original file.  If that's what you're seeing do the following: if you have the space available on your hard drive and don't aready have a backup copy of the library make a temporary, backup copy (select the library and type Commadn+D) and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • When using Mail and selecting the recipient, Address Book no longer shows Groups. I am forced to select from my entire alphabetized contact list. What's going on?

Has the Address Book software changed? Or has Mail changed? For purposes of email, Address Book no longer allows me to find an addressee or several addressees who are members of one of my Groups (or Smart Groups). What happens is this: I open Mail, initiate a new email, put the cursor in the To: box and click the 'Show addresses' icon in the New Message box. The Addresses list shows up in a separate window with an alphabetized listing of all my contacts. It used to allow me to select a Group, but Groups are no longer listed. I have no choice but to select an address (or addresses) from the entire list. Needless to say, this is intolerable.
    Ultimately, I have two questions:
What has changed and can I fix it so it works as it used to?
If I can't fix it, what other email/address book software combination works simply and cleanly so I don't have to live with this frustration.

    This add-on may help:
    https://nic-nac-project.org/~kaosmos/morecols-en.html
I've had this add-on for so long that I can't remember what it does and does not provide.
If you select a List in your Address Book, so that its contents display at the right, does "Export" not write just the Lists's member Contacts out to the csv file?
It does here, but this may be thanks to the above-mentioned add-on.

  • IPhoto folders no longer showing in iTunes & System Pref???

has anyone had this problem recently?
when i'm syncing iPod it no longer shows individual folders that you could select from. it seems to me that it wants to wipe out the folders that are existing on my iPod to replace it with entire iPhoto library without separate folders.
also, in system preferences it no longer shows folders from iPhoto. ?
i don't understand. could it have anything to do with iWeb? that is about the only thing i've "played" around with recently...

okay, so i just restarted my computer & the desktop changed.
i usually only sleep the computer & so the desktop doesn't change. even when i did shutdown/restart computer in the past, the desktop did not change. i think somehow this is all connected. it seems if i don't have whatever photo my desktop is saved on the desktop, it will change it back into some generic photo...should i just make an appointment at an apple store? i don't have iPhoto 08 & there have been no updates...

  • IPhoto book - pic not showing

I am creating a iPhoto book. When I view in slideshow mode one of the pics does not show up. How do I ensure that this pic will be on my final product?

Before ordering your book preview it using this method - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference - the delivered book will match it.

  • Firefox is no longer showing pictures within icons

    Hi,
My Firefox has stopped showing pictures within icons.
If you can imagine an webpage that is used to send and receive email. This webpage has the "Reply" button. My reply button used to have a left arrow picture within the button however now there is nothing but a faint grey box. There is nothing that denotes this box as a button (reply or otherwise) . If I hover over the box the word "reply" will appear.
All websites are like this...no "rich" web experience...just a white page ans faint grey boxes.
I am operating Windows 7 Home edition.
I uninstalled FF and reinstalled it and still no luck.

    Hi Cor-el,
Thank you for your kind attempt at fixing this problem.
I performed both of the fixed suggested above and still no pictures within the buttons. I closed FF and restarted and no joy.
Can you PLEASE keep scratching your brain and think up something eles?
As described...when looking at my email web page there used to be in the "reply" button a left pointing arrow and the "forward" button had a right facing arrow. Now there is nothing but a very faint box around where the button is (almost cannot see it). It is the same with other web pages as well.
If I hover over the button the "Reply" cloud-ey thing pops up.
Without the pictures in the icons it makes the email page almost useless.

  • IPhoto '09 - no longer buy pictures or books

For some reason we cannot purchase photos or books form iPhoto '09. It keeps responding that there is a problem with our billing account. It does work on a MAC with iPhoto '11

Make sure the Print Products store is in the same country as your credit card's billling address.
If it's correct then click on the Store button at the top and go to the Accounts/View Accounts section
and delete and reenter all of your credit card's information.  Then try ordering again .

  • IPhoto books and slide shows vs. iMovie

I have put an iBook together and it looks great. To play it in a slide show with text and titles is wonderful. The problem is that I cheated. I fooled iBook into making double trucks (two page spreads) of some of my photos...Looks great in book form but plays as left page/right page in a slide show. Not good. I could just make a slide show from a folder...But then I get no text page or title page. If I make an iMovie of my images, they look soft (out of focus) and I am limited in the amount of text I can output. If there is a way to get print into the iPhoto slide show, I would be happy. Any ideas?

If you had iDVD on an older Applications DVD disc that came with an older Mac install that and then make sure you use Software Update before you try to start the program. You could also try doing software update now and see if any newer upgrades/updates are available.
I suspect what they transfered is an older version that will not run on the new OS X. Once updated/upgraded to a newer version it will work.
But then you may need to do a reinstall first.

  • IPhoto library no longer showing?

After I restart and open iPhoto it shows the app is open, but I dont see the library window any longer. I went to "switch library", even resurrected an older version from my time machine, which worked, until I restarted again!!! Then I get ...."nothing" and I would have to resurrect another older copy again.
    Anyone have any ideas???
    Help, please?

With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a solution.  We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
Do you have Mission Control activated on your Mac?  Could iPhoto be in a different Desktop window?
    what fixes have you tried?
    where is your library located?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
    what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive?

  • IPhoto: Preview No Longer Shows Changes

I noticed one of the iPhoto updates changed the way Previews work. Before the update I used to edit photos, and then the changes would show up in the Preview. There seems to be some sort of new system, where it retains the original Preview and only when you open the photo do the changes you made show up.
Personally I like the old way, can anyone tell me how to have the edited image show up in the preview? From what I can see it stores edited Photos in a new folder instead of overwriting the old ones. I can see some people wanting to keep the original, but there should be a choice to overwrite the old copy if you want.

There seems to be some sort of new system, where it retains the original Preview and only when you open the photo do the changes you made show up.
No, that's not a new system that's a damaged Library.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
From what I can see it stores edited Photos in a new folder instead of overwriting the old ones.
IPhoto is a Digital Asset Manager. It protects the Original file in the same way that a film photographer minds his/her negative. This allows you to revert to the original file should you - at some point in the future - rethink your edit, or even migrate to a different application. This is also the basis of iPhoto's Lossless Editing Feature.
I can see some people wanting to keep the original, but there should be a choice to overwrite the old copy if you want.
No. If you don't want to preserve the Original file, why are you using a Digital Asset Manager? You want an Image Browser and and editor.

    TD

  • Iphoto videos no longer show up in imovie

I no longer have any iphoto videos in imovie. They use to automatically load in, and now they don't. Any suggestions....will I have to import each video one by one, and if so, how do I do that?

I'm having almost the same issue. Older videos from iphoto appear in ivideo but I can't figure out how to import the new videos that are already in iphoto. Have you had any luck getting the new videos from iphoto to import?

  • Firefox no longer shows pictures for any website I go to. All graphics are gone. I tried using another browser and I am able to get pictures. I really like Firefox and want to be able to use it. This is for a pc.

About 10 days ago Firefox started to show only some pictures that should be on website--shopping sites or any other. After a few more day it now shows no pictures or graphics at all. It makes it almost impossible to use. I can see text, but it is rearranged on pages. Can't see buttons to click on etc.

Not sure from your example but it appears that the address doesn't have a full domain, i.e., the part between http:// and the next / is not a valid internet domain name, e.g.,
    http://sometext-webproxy/
In that case, it's probably something running on your computer, either as part of your security software, or as a Firefox add-on, or malware.
A standard diagnostic to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings) is to try Firefox's Safe Mode.
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [[Backing up your information]]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, restart Firefox in Firefox's Safe Mode ([[Safe Mode]]) using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode."
If you can access sites normally, this points to one of your extensions or custom settings as the problem.
To also disable plugins, you can try here:
orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Add-ons > Plugins category
    Any change?

  • Organization Address books no longer show on left when writing

Long time Thunderbird user. The address books form 4 accounts no longer appear when composing email.
It is mostly for this feature that I use Thunderbird.
How do I get back to the former iteration that worked?

    Open a Write window.
Press F9 to toggle the contact sidebar on and off.
You can also do this from the View menu in the Write window.

  • Iphoto book picture resolution

I am making an Iphoto book and am importing pictures from old libraries. The resolution on the pictures go as low as 500 kb. I am putting 4 pictures to a page, so the pictures are not large. Will that resolution be okay? The pictures appear to be fine and there is no indication that they will show as being of poor quality. I was wondering how low you can go with the resolution. Thank you.

your will see a yellow triangle with an ! in it if the resolutions is too low for the size you have chosen to use.

  • Creating iPhoto Book

I cannot seem to create iPhoto books any longer. When I choose the library in the source pane and click add book or add album, only the first photo in the library appears in the new book or album. I can't seem to get the entire album to show in order to enable the drag and drop into the photobook despite having created books before.

Are you selecting more than one photo before clicking on the Book button at the bottom? If it's an album you want to make the book from just click on the album icon and then on the book button.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Printing iphoto book

Trouble printing iphoto books. I've been creating a iphoto books and then printing them out on my canon mp530 printer so that I can put the pages in protective sleeves and then send update pages to family albums. My problem is when I print the pages from the iphoto book, some of the pictures have heads cut off etc. The picture on the photo book page is fine but when "I"print I'm not getting what I see. Is this apples way to control the iphoto book and force us to buy the album? or is there something I can do to make it work?

    lesathome:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Do a Print to PDF first, check the pdf version. If the image looks OK in the PDF it should print OK from the PDF.
On one of the photos that were chopped off, Control-click on the photo in the book and select "Fit Photo to Frame" option in the contextual menu. Then try again.
