Iphoto-Buch - Cover?

Hallo! Lg Lisa

Lisa,
welche iPhoto Version hast Du?
Siehe: iPhoto, Aperture: Previewing an order in iPhoto or Aperture
Hebe das PDF von der Vorschau auf, bis Du das gedruckte Buch geliefert bekommst.

  • Problem with preview of iPhoto book cover

A friend has assembled a book in iPhoto and we have previewed it by going to File-Print and choosing to open a pdf in Preview. The pdf preview looks fine except for the front cover in which the image and text appear enlarged and shifted, cutting off the top of the cover photo. Attempts to insert a photo with a white border just give the same result - the picture is cropped and shifted.
We then looked at a previous iPhoto book which David has had successfully printed through the Apple book ordering system. This shows exactly the same fault on the cover when opened as a pdf in Preview.
Can we be confident that the new book will also print correctly despite the incorrect cover preview? David is using iLife 09 on a 24" iMac running OS X 10.5.8.

Use the recommended preview method - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040
Assume that it will print exactly like this preview shows - you can save the resulting PDF for reference

  • IPhoto book cover misprint

The new version of iPhoto (9.2) duplicates the book title in the lower right of the cover. This seems not to be a dsiplay artifact, the pdf  shows it as well. This occurs on the "Simple Border" theme and one or two others. It may be the "spine" print, but if so will print on the front cover and will be horizontal text, not the vertical expected. Anyone know how to remove the text - without changing the theme?

Larry - thanks for the reply,
but I should have mentioned that, that is how I generated the pdf that I mentioned in the original post.
The duplicate of the book title appears three times: 1) as expected, 2) on the spine - in vertical type and 3) unwelcome - in the lower right of the cover page. Pretty sure this is a "bug" in the 9.2 s/w but "hope springs eternal", I thought someone might know a way of avoiding it short of changing styles and all of the nuisance that implys.

  • IPhoto book cover.. matt or glossy

I have just received 4 iPhoto books.
I am very pleased with the results but 2 of them have glossy covers (under the dust jacket) & 2 have matt covers.
    Can anyone explain why?
    I like the glossy better..

good discussion for me thanks on book covers. I am waiting on books to arrive as part of a set and will be angry if they are different to the others with silver embossing on the cover. This is what sets apple product apart from other books, is the silver cove. Does the matt cover look cheap? I would like your oppinion thanks.
Silver embossing is not available with iPhoto '09 - it is available only with iPhoto '08 and Aperture. Your iPhoto '09 book will have a laminated photo cover (I love it myself)

  • IPhoto Book Cover Jacket

Do the images on the cover jacket also appear on the hardcover of an iPhoto book?  Also, does the text box on the front jacket fold appear on the inside of the hard cover?

    yes -
Before ordering your book preview it using this method - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference - the delivered book will match it.

  • IPhoto Calendar Cover - Image size

Does anyone know the preferred size, resolution, and/or aspect ratio for images to be properly displayed on calendar pages and covers? Specifically, I am having trouble with the cover image for the "Modern Lines" template. I can't get my image to fit properly; in most cases it is too large and I can't reduce it any further using the iPhoto contextual menu that appears. But if I reduce the size of the image in Photoshop, then iPhoto still blows it up too large, and it again cannot be reduced sufficiently.
Some documentation on recommended image sizes and resolutions would be appreciated!!
    thanks

    Nancy:
That particular frame is about 13.4 x 10 inches. I wasn't about to determine the exact size but that gets you very close to including all of the cropped image when the Fit Photo to Frame is not selected. You don't need to crop it in Photoshop, just crop the original in iPhoto to a Custom size, 13.4 x 10.
As far as resolution is concerned the larger the image the better, pixel wise. So always set your camera to the largest size and quality level possible. You can always downsize but you can't upsize.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • IPhoto album cover images are lost when I sync to my iPad and iPhone. Can I fix this?

I have a few albums that I created with iPhoto on my Mac. I picked a cover image, and it has worked on the Mac, but when I view the albums on my iPad or iPhone, the cover image is just the default one - it isn't the one I picked. Can anyone suggest how to fix this?

iPhoto on the Mac and on the iPhone are to totally different programs sharing only a name - at this time changes made in one do not sync to the other - only the photos that yu sync when you sync them are synced

  • Why can't I customize the creation of my iPhoto books anymore?

I am trying to create an iPhoto hard cover book.   Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I can't  find a way to lay out my own photos, as I've always done in the past - once I have selected the photos for the book, the only option I can find is to buy the book with the layout of Apple's choosing, which isn't at all the way I want it.    Is it no longer possible to make a book the way I want to?

Assuming you're running iPhoto 11 look for the Change Themes button in the View All Pages window of the book mode:
That will take you to the window where you can pick a different theme and type of book:

  • Work with both: iPhoto and Aperture (or Lightroom)

I have iLife '09 and the newest MacBook pro with Leopard (last edition) and I am New in Apple Scene.
All my photos now are imported in iPhoto. How can I organize lot of photos, when I want to work with Aperture (or Lightroom)? Do I need then iPhoto? Or only organize all photos in Aperture?

Aperture, Lightroom and iPhoto all cover the same ground in different ways.
iPhoto is aimed at the domestic market. It's very user friendly and works very well with Point and Shoot cameras especially.
Both AP and LR are focussed firmly on the Pro Shooter shooting high volumes of RAW. They both have significant learning curves.
That said, there is much to be gained as an Amateur photographer using either app if you are shooting RAW. Much less so if you you're shooting jpeg.
You can download trials of both AP and LR.
AP works in a limited fashion with iPhoto. You can share your Previews with iPhoto, for instance, and there is a facility to easily migrate from iPhoto to Aperture. You can migrate an entire library or just particular photos.
LR is utterly unaware of iPhoto. There is a third party plug-in that facilitates exporting from LR to iPhoto. There is no easy way to migrate from iPhoto to LR.
Subject to the caveats above about shooting RAW: I would use Aperture as the primary organisational and processing app. I choose AP because it's much more powerful that iPhoto and because it has excellent OS integration entirely missing from LR.

  • Picture album covers - Problem when sync to iPhoto 9.4.2 (710.42) / IOS 6.0

    Hello,
My problem concerns the iphone picture album covers. As I am a photographer, I want to chose my picture album cover for all the albums I synchronized from iPhoto to my iPhone.
The trick that was working before: I was only changing the date (for an earlier one) of the picture I wanted to appear as my iphone albums cover pictures.
Since the last update of iphoto, all the pictures covers changed in my iphone but without respecting any rule (neither the alphabetical name, the chronological order, or the iphoto album cover are taken as rule). However, it is always the same picture that re appear as album cover picture.
Question: which picture is taken to be the album cover picture when synchronized from iPhoto to iPhone. What is the rule??
    Thank you all.

If it's because of a damages preference file you can try this fix:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
or with Mt. Lion from the User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto/
    Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

  • Photo books and page order

Ok i have a question about the page order on the photo books you make with iPhoto. Cover is.. a cover, then is Page 1 the page right behind the cover or the following one? On the book I've made page 2 and 3 look like as they are on the same side but if page 1 is the one behind the cover then the order should be like that : Page 1 & 2 go together, then Page 3 & 4 etc. I don't know if I made myself clear. I just want to make sure I've organized my book the way I want it to be.
    Thanks in advance.

It is a book - when you open it odd numbered pages on on the right and even numbered pages on the left - same as every professional book made
Page 2 is the back side of Page 1, etc.
Before ordering your book preview it using this method - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference - the delivered book will match it.
The preview will show the exact layout

  • IPhoto06 vs iPhoto08

I recently tried to make a book using iPhoto06 and was not very excited about the limited options available (background patterns, ability to move photos etc).  I have Aperture 1.5.6 and am satisfied with the flexibility for moving text and pics etc..
    Here are the questions:
    1. Does iPhoto 08 provide the ability to move the pictures on the page?
    2. Several reports on the Aperture page state that the image on the hard cover is cheesy.. Is the cover art when making a Hardcover book in iPhoto 08 high quality?
    3. Can iPhoto 08 work directly with RAW formats (like Canon's CR2), or does it convert them to JPG like iPhoto 06 does?
Any feedback on iPhoto 08 would be greatly appreciated!

    Earl:
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
    1 - no, the frames are fixed in their locations;
2 - there is no cover art on the iPhoto hard cover books. That's been replaced with a dust jacket like commercial books have and silver embossed cover titles and sub title on the hardcover itself. The dust cover has a photo on the cover with title and subtitle. The inside flaps, front and read can have photo and/or text.
3 - iPhoto creates a jpg version of the RAW file for use and editing. With iPhoto 7's nondestructive editing you're always only 1 version away from the original. If you do have PS as a 3rd party editor you can have it edit the RAW file when PS is set up in iPhoto as the editor of choice.
    Happy Holidays

  • Photo won't show on cover of Iphoto Calendar after dragging and dropping

Every year I create a calendar on Iphoto and I have always been able to troubleshoot everything myself.
This time, I am stumped. The whole calendar is ready to go but for some reason, the photo I added to the cover will not show up. I am using the same photo later in the calendar without a problem. In fact, when I hover over the picture it tells me that is being used on the cover and on page 11...but I can't see it!
The title underneath the photo will only show when I click on the text box. Once I click away from it, it will disappear.
Anybody? Christmas is approaching fast and I need to get this into production ASAP to mail to Europe.

    Hi HeyBayLondon!
It sounds like you may want to try restoring your phone and then re-syncing the content from your computer to see if the information will show up after that procedure. Information on doing that can be found right here:

  • Can I get the Dust Jacket and the Great Cover Look of iPhoto in Aperture?

    Hello,
I am a huge fan of iPhoto (and most of the other Apple products.) I am using Aperture 2 and I recently created and ordered a book using it. I was blown away by the page layout options, however, I was greatly disappointed when I received my book and way the cover! It looked like someone just used some sort of "sticky" as the label/cover. It is already starting to peel off! Our client wasn't very happy with it at all.
Can someone tell my how I can get the great features and flexibility of the pages that are offered in Aperture along with the great cover and dust jacked of iPhoto? That would really be great!!
Thanks in advance for your help!

One option could be to save the Aperture book layouts as JPEGs and then add them to an iPhoto book as full-bleed images. Then order the book via iPhoto.

  • IPhoto 11 - book cover photo issue

    Hello all,
I am working on a book in iPhoto 11. I first started the project way back in 2009 on my old iMac. Created 3 books for my kids about our family trip that summer. The books are 80 pages, with photos (duh) and a lot of text. A LOT of text. I transcribed the journal we kept while on the trip and used their photos for their books. They all came out beautifully. The amount of text is important here. . .
Then my old iMac started to die, and I put off creating MY copy of the book. Flash forward to now, and I have a brand new iMac and I've moved all of my photo libraries to this shiny new Mac and I'm ready to finish my book.
Everything seems to be fine except for one thing. Whatever photo I add to the cover, it never shows up. There is a checkmark next to the photo, indicating that it's been used, but it's not visible. There is no problem with photos on pages. They all work just fine. (And a big HALELEUJAH! for iPhoto now allowing me to insert pages in the middle of the book - have wanted this since 2009)
I tried doing a preview as pdf - with no photos inserted except for the cover, and still saw nothing.
I really, really don't want to change themes and then come back. I do still have the journal as a Word doc, but the thought of recreating this huge book is not something I want to tackle if I don't have to.
Thanks for any ideas and help.

I might have just solved this myself. It was simple, of course.
I selected a different layout for the cover. The photo appeared. I went back to the original layout. The photo and caption both appeared.
    Yay!
