IPhoto calendar size options

Is the large 13" x 10.4" the only sizing option for a calendar with iPhoto '09? My brother has an older version ('06) and was able to order a smaller size of the calendar he made in the '06 version. When I go to the buy calendar steps for my calendar, with the '09 version, it only lists the 13x10.4 size. It's too big for our needs and I'd like to buy a smaller one if possible. Thanks.

I'm disappointed that iPhoto '09 has limited the sizing options for the calendar. Particularly since the larger calendars we ordered were grainier than the smaller ones my brother ordered. About half of the pictures were the same in the 2 sets of calendars, but the quality was markedly different. So much graininess in the pictures (of the 13x10.4 size) wasn't expected after seeing the calendars our family members ordered last year. If the sizing options don't expand next year, I guess we'll have to look elsewhere for printing our calendars. Which is disappointing since that was one of the reasons we were excited to buy our new Mac.
Do you know where to register suggestions or complaints about the iPhoto '09 product?
Thanks.

  • Iphoto CALENDAR size confusion french version

hello i want to buy a calaendar that i have assembled with iphoto.
On the apple website they talk about a size of 33 cm by 24 cm and when i want to order it they show a calendar size that is 13 cm x 10,4 cm.
Wich one is the size you get?

Are you sure it's 13 cm x 10,4 cm and not 13 in x 10.4 in? Because 13 in x 10,4 in converts to 33cm x 24 cm. In other words they are the same and there's only one size of calendar available.
    Happy Holidays
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Photo size options fails to work when selecting mail option in iphoto

photos being sent via the mail option in iphoto seem to be set at a default of 130kb!! Regardless of which of the sizing options I select. I have taken to moving the photos to the desktop then putting them in a folder and attaching to the email as a way of getting around this problem. If I do the above without putting the jpeg into a folder it also gets reduced automatically to 130kb. I have then had problems with people receiving the photos sent in an attached folder not being able to open them. Given that the iphoto/mail option in all previous OSX worked fine what do I have to do to get the old functionality back?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
You also need to check the size option in the bottom right corner of the New Mail Message window:

  • Snow Leopard, iPhoto, Mail - loss of image size option when mailing photos

I just installed Snow Leopard on both my laptop and my desktop. Now I have lost one of the size options when I email images directly from iPhoto. This is a big problem for me, as I have the need to send photos out to colleagues for their review several times per week. Before the new OS, I could choose (from within iPhoto or from within Mail) from these options: small, medium, large, and full-size. "Large" was the choice that almost always worked best for me. Now an image is medium-sized no matter whether you choose medium or large. Small and full-size still work.
If I add images to a mail using the photo browser in Mail (which is less convenient for me anyway), then I lose the titles and descriptions I have added to those images in iPhoto. Not good.
Is there a setting I can change, or is this a bug, or what?
    Help.
    Marion

    Ernie,
It's not the the image size buttons are not available. They are. It's that they don't work correctly. From within iPhoto: choosing "small" gives me a small image; choosing "medium" gives me a medium image; choosing "large" also gives me a medium image; choosing "full" gives me a full-size image. So, there are four buttons, but only three sizes. I need large, and it's the one that's not working.
I am currently experimenting with your export-attach suggestion, and the results are very messy indeed as well as inconsistent. If I export an image as .jpeg and as full-size, and then attach them to a mail, the first problem is that I lose all the titles and descriptions, even though I have chosen to export them. In the past, all the images lined up neatly in the body of the message with titles underneath each one; now the images are all "stuck together" and you must mouse over to get the title info. Thus you can see this info for only one image at a time - inconvenient for my colleagues.
The second problem is that, the size option buttons work for some images and not for others. I tried attaching three files of different sizes: 2.7MB, 5.2MB, and 6.2MB. All four size buttons work for the two larger files, but, once again "medium" and "large" choices both result in the same size image, "medium."
Even if the export-attach option worked correctly, it would involve many more steps and much more time than my former method of sending direct from iPhoto.
I have not upgraded to iLife9. Perhaps the problem has been corrected in it. I was holding out for iLife10, but might go ahead with 9 if I could be assured it would work. This is really a huge problem for me.
    Thanks,
    Marion

  • Calendar size in iphoto 06

Hi. In iphoto 08 the calendar size is now 10x13 or something like that, at least bigger than the rather small size they used to be. However, I am using iphoto 06 and was wondering, if I order a calendar today, will I get still the old and smaller size or will I receive the bigger size. Anyones done a calendar using iphoto 06 recently? I appreciate your answer

I just ordered a calendar about ten minutes ago! I was also wondering about the size, but believe it or not, when you place the order it gives you the size it will be. Of all the places to find it!!! Unfortunately I don't remember exactly, but I can tell you that one of the dimensions was 10". I used iPhoto 6.
I made the calendar with the large numbers, and for some reason the bottom of the numbers was clipping off. I spent forever trying to find out why and fix it, but no luck. There are actually very few things you can control when making a calendar. Finally, I printed it out on my printer and the numbers were fine, so I'm holding my breath and hoping it's OK.

  • I'm not able to create a iphoto calendar with the correct birthday entries.

    Hello,
I use the latest Iphoto version and OS X 10.9.
I tried to create a calendar in iphoto that includes all birthday information of my family. Unfortunately I'm not able to do this.
I tried two differnt ways to get the information into the calendar.
First of all I' tried to use the option of the calendar to get the information of my contacts and it partly worked. Some dates were missing and I was not able to modify or add additional birthdays in the calendar. I checked my contacts and the information was there but not shown in the Iphoto Calendar.
Therefore I have to get the information into the calendar in a different way. For that I created a new calendar in ICal and created for each Birthday entries.
I select the option in the Iphoto calendar to show the new calendar in iPhoto. But the result was worse than with the first solution. Only few entries was shown in the calender.
Do anybody have an idea how can I solve this issue.
    Thank you in advanced,
    Philipp

First of all I' tried to use the option of the calendar to get the information of my contacts and it partly worked. Some dates were missing and I was not able to modify or add additional birthdays in the calendar. I checked my contacts and the information was there but not shown in the Iphoto Calendar.
Do the birthdays (from Contacts) show correctly in the Calendar app? Sometimes there is a formatting problem with the date string in the Contacts. If the Birthdays do not show correctly in the Calendar.app, try to delete them from Contacs and enter them again, and check, if they now are showing correctly in Calendar. Quit both Contacts and Calendar.
Then restart iPhoto, and in the "Settings" for your Photo Calendar disable the Birthdays option, and then turn it on again.
Any changes you do to the birthdays in Contacts may only appear in iPhoto Calendars after Calendar or Contacts wrote their databases, and iPhoto will read these databases, when you enable the "Birthdays" option. Toggling this option on and off will ensure, that the new Contacs info will be read.

  • Ordered Iphoto calendar. One picture is blurred and bad. Can I get a new calendar?

Ordered an iphoto calendar for 2015. One picture is blurred and bad. Can I get a new calendar? To whom do I report this problem?
    Joan

Maybe - did you preview the calendar -
Before ordering your calendar preview it using this method - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference - the delivered calendar will match it.
What is the printed size of the image and what are it's pixel dimensions - it need to be no less than 150 DPI for a good, clear print
You can contact Apple at the address included in your  order confirmation email and see what they will do - but if the picture is too small reprinting will not help

  • Can't import ical dates into iphoto calendar

    Hi all,
I'm trying to make an iphoto calendar for a friend and I'm running into a frustrating problelm. My friend emailed me an ical birthday calendar which he would like to have included in the iphoto calendar. I imported the ical calendar into my own ical as a new calendar. I have created my calendar in iphoto but I cannot import these dates into it. When I go to settings and click the calendar tab I am given the option of which ical calendars I would like to import to my calendar. I see two, one is my own normal calendar and the other is the birthday calendar sent to me by my friend. I check the birthday calendar and then click ok and ical appears to be importing the dates but when I look at my calendar the dates have not imported. If I try importing my normal calendar I have no problem. What's going on here??? Please help I am getting really frustrated.

There are many video formats. iPhoto can't read all of them; in fact, it can't read most of them. Here's something that can:
VideoLAN - Download official VLC media player for Mac OS X
On the other hand, the videos are just files. You can copy them anywhere you want in the Finder.

  • IPhoto Calendar - download problems

Have tried 4 times to send completed iPhoto Calendar for printing. Each time it is rejected with following error message :
'Unreadable PDF file or image files. Files are sometimes assembled incorrectly due to CMYK or Grayscale color space. Use the RGB color space for best results. '
Can anyone please explain what this means and more importantly what I now have to do ?
    Many thanks.

    What version of iPhoto?
    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
    Post back with the result.

  • Allow others to order iPhoto calendar via Apple Photos Services (or other)

I thought I saw this option somewhere, but I have an iPhoto calendar that I've printed through Apple Photo Services for myself. I now want to make that cal available for others to print without having to be involved in placing the order for them. Is that possible? Ideally, they would not even need a .mac account, but could order as a guest. If Apple does not offer this service, does anyone know of a short-run printer that will take the PDF and make a cal of it? Fed Ex/Kinko's does not have a lot of info on their site for that kind of thing. I will call them shortly.
    Thanks.

Thanks Terence. I assume the file is stored on the Apple server for 4 weeks (in which time it is removed), so I'm unclear why they can't assign it a unique number and allow me to send that number to my mom who can use it to order the cal. That does not seem impossible to me and could help Apple make more money on prints.

  • Iphoto calendar

I would like to insert some photos in portrait format into my iphoto calendar, but I am only given templates(under layout)  for landscape orientation. Is this possible?

The Picture Calendar theme has layouts for most pages, 1-X photos that include layouts for portrait photos.  This is from the cover page:
This is for a 3 photo page:
You just need to find the layout that has the portrait in it.  If you want a 1 photo per page and there's not a portrait layout just Command (right) - click on the image and select Fit Photo to Frame option to get this:

  • Iphoto calendar creation won't let me make a calendar more than 12 months long even though I have chosen a 14 page calendar

In iphoto calendar creation, I have selected a 13 month calendar from December 2012-December 2013, wanting 13 pages.  I have selected all my photos for the year and have started placing them in the Calendar.  I'm at October and noticed that December is missing.  Thought maybe i didn't request a 13 month calendar, but I have.  Seems like the more months I want in the calendar, the end months keep dropping off.  If i want a 14 month calendar starting in November 2012, then November and December 2013 are then gone. so....I changed it over and over trying to get the months back, but to no avail.  I've created a new empty project calendar, requesting 13 months, and all 13 months are there.  Problem is.....how do I get all the pictures from the old calendar over to the new ones without having to reselected 200 pictures again?  Or is there a way to fix the original missing pages?  Thanks.

Try this:  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and check to see if the same problem persists. If it doesn't then your current library is the culprit.
In that case make a temporary, backup copy of your library if you don't already have one (Control-click on the library and select Duplicate from the contextual menu) and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
