Iphoto : can see all thumbnails but not full size

I imported about 1000 photos into ipod and I can see the thumbnails just fine. But, when I double click on any thumbnail, all I see is a big white empty box with a ? inside. Please help!

Andy:
Give this a try: download and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, substituting your account name for mine. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field.

  • In iPhoto, I can see the thumbnails but not the full-size photos

In iPhoto, I can see the thumbnails along the bottom but I can't see the full-size photos - I just see a black screen. What should I do?

There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
    1. Permissions in the Library: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
    2. Minor Database corruption: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
    3. A Damaged Photo: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). (On iPhoto 11 this option is under the File -> Reveal in Finder.) Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
    4. A corrupted iPhoto Cache: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/Library/ Caches...
    5. A corrupted preference file: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    If none of these help:

  • HT2638 I cant open my photos in iPhoto 11. I can see all thumbnails but they wont open?

    Any advise please..?

Hi, well I did get a black screen with (!) In a triangle, but now I have tried to repair the library and all the other options rebuild etc and now I can't even see the thumbnails they are black also. So guess what ever the problem was I made it worse....:)

  • IPhoto images appear as thumbnails but not full images

Trying to e-mail images, using either drag-and-drop or copy/paste shows a warning triangle in iPhoto or an empty file in the e-mail.
    Some images are OK.
Has there been a problem when iPhoto amends the library after an upgrade?
I'm running the latest version 9.5.1.
If I need to replace images using TimeMachine, how far do I need to go back please?
    Thanks in anticipation...
    g.

What happened directly before this problem occured? Was it directly after upgraded to iPhoto 9.5.1? Did you move your iPhoto library? Delete photos using the Finder? Where is your iPhoto library located?
warning triangle in iPhoto or an empty file in the e-mail.
This idicates that iPhoto has lost the connection between the thumbnails in the Browser and the original image files. The originals may be missing.
Too late   Thry to rebuild your iPhoto library with the First Aid Tools, or, if even that will not succeed, with iPhoto Library Manager.
The procedure is described here by Old Toad:

  • Aperture 2.1.4 problem - have thumbnail but not full-size image

I'm relatively new at using Aperture. I have been downloading photos from my Nikon D200 into iPhoto and then modifying those photos in Aperture. This has worked fine for several months. However, after installing v 2.1.4, I can no longer access the images I've altered in Aperture, although the thumbnail images are still present at the bottom of the screen. How do I access the images previously modified in Aperture? Are they stored somewhere in iPhoto?
I've been hesitant to download images from the camera straight into Aperture because I'm still not as proficient as I'd like with the program. For whatever reason, there are few training opportunities for Aperture here in the US....another issue.

Thank you for trying to help me with the problem. Let me back up a bit further so that you can better understand my problem. Here are some of the problems:
    (1) I had been downloading all my pictures (Nikon D200) into iPhoto. After selecting a few that I would like to make adjustment using Aperture, then only I import versions of it into Aperture. The way I had been importing images is by going into Aperture, go to File show iPhoto, select photos by dragging them into album that I had created in Aperture. Is this the correct way of importing photos from iPhoto into Aperture?
    (2) After making adjustments in Aperture recently, the next day I went back into Aperture to see them, all the pictures in the viewer is replaced by " Unsupported Image Format". Why Aperture let me do all the adjustments if this is unsupported image format? It only tell me this, the next day after I had tried to view all the photos with adjustments that were made earlier?
    (3) Dozens of adjusted photos (versions) from my albums in Aperture had also disappeared. I had not use the vault in Aperture as yet. The question is where are all my adjusted versions being stored? My Aperture Library is shown to be empty! I thought at the very least, all my versions is stored in the Aperture Library. How do I store versions in this library?
Yes, my workflow may seems convoluted at the moment, using iPhoto as my reference and only dealing with versions in Aperture. The reason for my madness is quite simple ( I thought), I need to understand Aperture really well before importing photos directly into it and bypass iPhoto altogether. With all the problems that I am facing with Aperture at the moment, I am not quite there yet.
    All help is greatly appreciated.

  • Bonjour - Mac A can see Mac B but not vice versa

    Hi
Very odd behaviour with Bonjour. Up until yesterday, my macbook pro (call it A) would see my mac pro (B) - it would appear automatically in A's sidebar, I could listen to B's iTunes library on A and so on. No problem and there hasn't been for a couple of years. B could not see A - but I didn't really need it to and this wasn't an issue.
Suddenly, this morning, the situation is completely reversed. A can no longer see B at all, but B can see A.
I can connect both ways by using 'Connect', I can ping both ways, but I can't get A to discover B using Bonjour.
The only think I've done that I can think can have caused the changes is to use Omnifocus sync (with B holding the sync server) - it worked fine all day, but overnight Bonjour seems to have reversed itself as described above.
Bonjour Browser shows me that B can see A, but A can't see B. I have identical settings on both machines for sharing, network, firewall (all everything).
Bizarrely, for one two minute period a couple of hours ago, the situation reversed itself (A could see B but not vice versa), but then immediately went back to B can see A, but not vice versa.
Both computers are running the same version of Leopard (10.5.7). I've reinstalled the OS on B, just to see, but this hasn't improved matters.
I can find nothing on google or this discussions forum to explain this bizarre behaviour - most support threads seem to peter out without being resolved. Has anyone any idea what's going on please? I'm quite happy getting stuck into the command line, if that's needed.
    Many thanks
    David

The Macbook Pro is connected wirelessly to the router, the Mac Pro connects to the same router by ethernet.
As far as I'm aware, I'd made no changes to any of the setups (computers or router) before the problem occurred: bonjour worked fine, but in one direction only (the MBP could see the Mac Pro, but not vice versa). Now, the Mac Pro can see the MBP, but not vice versa - and this is a problem because my printer and itunes server both sit on the Mac Pro.
I've set all the firewall and security settings I could find to transparent access - and (except for the obvious difference between the wired and wireless links), the setups are identical on both computers.
By the way, I can connect to the Mac Pro easily enough and transfer files, I just can't see it via bonjour or use Screen Sharing (again the settings haven't changed since they were working!)
    Many thanks

  • Importing into iPhoto - thumbnails but no full-size pics

I'm setting up a new iMac with OS X Lion (10.7.2) and iPhoto '11 (9.1.5).
I've Imported to Library over 1,000 photos from iPhoto '08 (7.1.5) from the originals folder. They show up fine and I can see them as Events (after autosplitting) and Photos but when 1 choose one and click on it, I see a black screen. At the top is the date taken (top left) and on the right 6 of 6 (for example) showing how many are in the event. At the bottom are the thumbnails. When I show information, I can see how it was captured, the pixels and the file size plus a photo number and a date.  When I resize with the zoom bottom left , I can see a thumbnail of what is happening but no full siz photos.
Can anyone suggest what is wrong or what I am doing wrong?
Thanks in advance for the help you may be able to offer.

  • Question for Printing - Local Administrators can See all printers but ordinary users and additional administrators cannot

Hello, this is urgent. This is the setting, Using Citrixx XenApp, branch users will print into the head office. The built-in admin can see all printer sessions in head office and branch but ordinary users and additional administrators cannot.
Even though, I'll put the users in the group Administrators, still, they cannot see all the printers, they can just see their own. But, I need to see ALL.
    Please help me. Thanks.

  • I can see the Thumbnail but can't open the Photo

I do like iPhoto '08 and the features it offers. My problem is that I can't seem to open the photo after importing. I can see the Thumbnail when I open an event. I click on certain photos and a big white exclamation point appears on a black background. !
This doesn't happen with all. Just a couple of photos within an event series. Has anybody else had this problem?

    mrmarley
The ! or ? turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
The most common cause of this is User Activity in the iPhoto Library Folder in the Finder.
Have you altered, moved or renamed anything in the iPhoto Library Folder?
If you haven't, then try rebuilding the database. Hold down the apple and option (or alt) keys and launch iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.

  • Document library: user can see the metadata but not the file itself

    Hello,
For a specific document library certain users will have the right to see the metadata but not the file itself. The only solution I can  think of is using a http handler. But I don't know if I can get the user that requests the document.
Are there any other approaches to this requirement?
Can I get the username of the user that makes that request?
I guess that http handler is deployed at the Web application level - am I right?
    Thank you
    Christos

Nicolas, thank you for your answer.
I think this this is not a strong protection. Everybody can istall sp designer or go through UNC path, like \\myserver\documentlibray or \\myserver\lists\mylist and see the documents- and we use unc paths a lot. I don't want to get into trouble when a (wiki)
    leak is made.

  • I can see the thumbnail, but the picture isn't there!!!

    Hi! I need some help!!!
I have been having issues with my camera on my iPhone 4S. I'll take a picture, it'll show up as a thumbnail, but when it's enlarged, the picture is just blank-white. I thought maybe my app was just acting up, but I uploaded the pictures onto Facebook, and they were still blank! I don't know what's going on!! Please, help!
Also! I just did an update to my OS today... could that have something to do with it?

I am having the same problem, just started
today, I have also just updated to 7.0.4.
It does not do it all the time, but the ones that
have done it have all been when I don't have
a great signal, but that could be a coincidence.
I hope somebody has an idea on this,
One other thing, if I click on edit while looking at
the white empty photo, I can then see it.

  • In my .ipa viewer builder i can see free folio but not retail folio

    Hi,
here's my prob: i am testing my viewer app for a multifolio subscription app. I can see the free issue but not the retail issue. I checked probably all the possible probs: in app purchase and retail folio have same ID, i logged out from iTunes and created a test account for the purchase. But after i tested and downloaded the free issue and loaded in the folio organizer the retail folio, nothing else appears in my .ipa...
Any help would be soooooo appreciated

ok, solved (but i'll leave the thread on, so it might be useful to anyone else): the problem was about IDs. Bundle ID was different from folio ID (i mean com.company.publication). They HAVE to be exactly the same
