IPhoto card printing on 4 fold paper

I ran out of single fold paper and found a way to use iPhoto card themes to print on 4 fold paper. If anyone has an easier way, please let me know. Otherwise, the following steps worked for me (so I didn't have to go out in this rain to buy single fold paper.)
Creating iPhoto card to print on 4 fold paper.
In iPhoto, select picture(s), and select card theme.
In iPhoto, select print, and then PDF and save to desktop.
Click on desktop saved image and Adobe will show card.
Take 2 screenshots of card's outside and inside.
Import screenshots into iPhoto and then rotate the pics so they are upside down.
Drag both pics to desktop.
Click on one of the pics to bring up Preview.
After selecting print, use or create 4fold custom paper size for 8.5 x 5.5.
Check the Preview margins and adjust (request use full size of paper.)
Insert 4 fold paper with right side down and print the first side by side image up side down.
Turn paper around and reinsert into printer so that second upside down image prints on same side of paper.
Let dry and fold paper into a card.

Here's an easier way to get those screenshots of the front and back of the card into iPhoto.
Start a Print process, click on the PDF button and select the "*Save PDF to iPhoto*" menu option. This creates a 200 dpi jpeg file of each side of the card.

  • IPhoto card printing order

Just had 10 cards printed from iPhoto image (with text added) to test quality.  Really pleased with the result and would like to order a lot more, but without the whole process of redesign.  Is there a simple way of re-ordering an earlier order?

    Dear LarryHN
Thanks so much for pointing me to 'Keepsakes' - had never noticed it was
there, despite being an Apple user since 1985!
Great that Apple keep the order for 40 days, but where do I go to =
reorder it?  There appears to be no facility in my 'accounts' page, or anywhere else I can find.
    Thanks again

  • IPhoto card quality

I just receivd my first set of cards printed via iPhoto and I must admit I'm a tad disappointed. The printed image is grainy, dark and desaturated. The 5 MB jpeg image looks terrific on screen but the printed card simply doesn't have any punch at all. Has anyone else had this experience ?
I'm wondering if some of the colour problems are related to colour management profiles ? The image was originally shot in RAW with the camera set to Adobe RGB (1998). After adjusting the image and cropping it was then exported from Aperture as a jpeg for import to iPhoto. The screen is calibrated on a regular basis with an GM EyeOne so we can rule that out of the equation. What profile would you recommend for on-screen soft-proofing from Aperture when the output is tagetted for the iPhoto card printing service ?
I'm relatively new to digital photography so still going through the learning curve with all this colour management stuff - plenty of opportunity for me to get it wrong !
Also, does anyone know how to improve the resolution of the printed cards ? They are very grainy.
    All suggestions very gratefully received.

    Roger:
As far as the color is concerned Apple and it's suppliers use sRGB for prints, books, etc. That may be a factor.
The graininess may be partially due to the card stock it's printed on and on the printer itself. I know from experience that the medium sized books from iPhoto are very grainy, visible to the naked eye up close, compared to the large, hardcover books which requires an eye loop at 8x to see the halftone pattern. It may be the same factors working on the cards.

  • IPhoto 6 card printing question

Hi, this may be a dumb question, but I spent over an hour and I couldnt figure it out.
Ok, so I made a card in iPhoto 6, size 7'' x 10''. It is a double-sided card. So, I print one side, feed the paper in again, and print the other side.
The problem is, I can't set the card to print centered on the paper, and thus, printing it double sided and cropping the paper will force me to cut off some of the card, and the fold wont line up right. I need this to print centered so the margins will be even, and thus, I can print double-sided properly.
    Thanks for any help/response

I have a similar problem, & am waiting for this to be answered properly by someone who can help allof us.
Using iPhoto5 (Dec. 2005) I was able to print my photos to 7x10 greeting cards all properly centered on the card -to then fold it in half for a greeting card. Now in iPhoto 6 (the same settings as used in iPhoto5) do not print out properly centered on the card. In preview it shows properly, but it does not come out that way. I am using the same printer - Epson R200 - as with iPhoto5). Another person has a Lexmark & can't get the right print out setting with iPhoto 6 either.

Can anyone tell me if that the cards/postcards you purchase from Apple are printed on card stock or on photo paper.

  • I am printing a Quarter fold card, using a IMac Desktop.

I am printing a Quarter fold card, using a IMac Desktop. The "printable area" is small for all panels to print on. How can I change manually the printable area size, somewhere in the "Printers Folder" ?  I know I can't change the size of the printable area with just the regular settings.     I have an HP 6540 printer.   Please advice.
    Sincerely,

Welcome back to the forums @Macdog64
I read your post about changing the printable area size, and I am honestly unsure if this can be done. I would suggest trying the HP Photo Creations software to see if you can change the area size. It could be worth a shot!
    Good luck

  • IPhoto not printing

since updating to 7.1.3 iPhoto - cannot print. I get a message saying: "There were no themes located. Until at least one theme has been installed, this feature will be unavailable."
In Application Support I have the iPhoto themes. Don't know what to do.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
    Restoring iPhoto Themes
First look in your User/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder for a Themes folder. If you find it there move it to the HD/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder and reboot. Then try iPhoto again. That may save you having to go thru the reinstallation process described below:
1 - delete the current application.
2 - delete any files with iPhoto in the file name that reside in your HD/Library/Receipts folder.
3 - delete the Themes folder from your User/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder. Also look in the HD/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder for a Themes folder. If there is one there then delete it also.
5 - boot into the system disk that came with your computer and do a custom install selecting only iPhoto.
After installing reinstall the iPhoto 7.1.1 updater again followed by a repair of disk permissions with Disk Utility. Also make sure you're running the latest Quicktime, 7.3.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • How do I upload videos from an SD card to the movies folder in Finder on my iMac?

I'm having trouble uploading videos from my SD card to my iMac. I'm wanting to save it in the "Movies" folder in Finder. When I open the SD card on my iMac, I am able to view the videos in QuickTime Player. They were an AVCHD file format. It gave me no option of saving the videos - not even with dragging them. So, I tried moving all of the files versus just one (in other words, instead of opening the file to view all of the videos, I just dragged the whole file without opening it).  It saved to my iMac, but in the same way as it was on the SD card - I wasn't able to actually save the videos themselves. They were only able to be viewed with QuickTime Player - I couldn't do anything else with them. So, I took my SD card out of the computer and put it back in the video camera. I then realized than I could not view the videos in the camera - they wouldn't show up. I then plugged the SD card back into the iMac. The videos were now saved under a BDMV folder versus the AVCHD folder they had been under earlier. The AVCHD folder was there, but would not open. When I tried to open it, all it said was, "This operation could not be completed." The BDMV folder allows me to view the videos in QuickTime Player, but I still cannot save them to my iMac from the SD card. I even tried saving the videos to iPhoto by dragging the BDMV folder into iPhoto. All it did was say, "The following files could not be imported. The file is in an unrecognizable format." So, now, I am completely confused as to what I need to do as to save the videos onto my computer, and even how the videos are now saved under a BDMV folder versus the original AVCHD folder in the SD card. I'd greatly appreciate it if someone could help me with this problem. Thanks!

You should have an icon of the SD card on the desktop - do you? If not, go to Finder Preferences > General and make sure these items are checked to show:
Once the icon is showing, you can just drag the card content to your desktop. It depends on what you want to do with the video - just watch or edit in iMovie to share online or burn a DVD?

  • Officejet Pro 8500A - unable to print on odd-size paper

After a couple of hours of frustration, I have decided that I an unable to print on odd-sized paper on our brand new HP printer!  On an older string in this user forum, one suggestion was to make a paper cut-out from regular sized paper to put on top of an envelope to "fool" the printer into thinking it was using standard sized paper.  I am trying to print odd-sized wedding invitations, and in order to to do this, I wouldn't be able to use the paper guides intended to keep the smaller paper in the middle.
Another suggestion would be to create a "custom size" paper in the printer properties, which doesn't seem to be possible in Windows XP as far as I can see.
    My card-stock paper measures 4 3/4" x 6 7/8"  Neither 5 x 7" nor 4 x 6" will work and I have tried numerous others, such as Janpanese postcard, Index card 4 x 6, etc.
Any suggestions?  This is frustrating enough to look at other namebrand printers next time, but I guess I'm stuck with this one for a while!

    Hello @drlogan0,
    Welcome to the HP forums.
I understand that you are encountering problems with getting your Officejet pro 8500A onto your new wireless network.
    I would like to help.
i would try restoring the network defaults. This will help erase any 'old' information that may be stuck in the printers memory. I would like to give you specific steps for this, but I am unsure if you have the 8500A, 8500A wireless, or the 8500A premium.
Basically the steps are, go into the network menu, and select restore network defaults.
If you have tried restoring the network defaults already, please review the following troubleshooting documents.

  • Printer will not feed paper

Printer will not feed paper. Tried print doctor scan-- unplugging and  wiping rollers with lint- free cloth dipped in distilled water.  Did'nt work.  Printer is 5 yrs old.  Is it time for a new one?? Or anything else I can try?  I have HP computer-any recommendations if I buy a new inkjet? Need one that will accept card stock. Thanks in advance/

    Hello @99stonemo99,
    Welcome to the HP forums.
I understand that your Photosmart C309 is not feeding paper.
    I would like to help.
It sounds like you have done all the trouble shooting.
Please review the following document for any missed steps.
HP Photosmart Premium Fax (C309a and C309c) All-in-One Printers - 'Out of Paper' Error Message and t...
If the printer will still not feed paper, then it is probably time for a new printer.
The Photosmart family of printers is currently being switched over to the ENVY family.
The new printers are also eligible for the Instant Ink program.
    There are about fourteen printers.
Eleven that you can click on to bring up the user manual.
This user manual should tell you if the printer can handle card stock.

  • Red hue to iPhoto 08 prints?

I just recently upgraded my MacPro's iPhoto to the new 08 version. All my images are shot with a Canon 20D and printed on a Canon i960. Since the upgrade, all the photographs that I print from iPhoto on photo paper (Canon's plus glossy) have a major red hue to them. This only occurs when I set the computer to print to the photo paper. For regular plain paper the colors are fine. Is there a way to adjust the color profile for only the Photo Paper Plus Glossy setting?
This error still occurs after the 10/25/2007 update for iPhoto and I am running the most up to date drivers for the printer.

Have you done a nozzle check to see that all your colours print ok.
I can't remember off hand how many colours the i960 has, but if you have Photo Cyan/Magenta they get used for photo papers, but not for plain paper.
If nozzle check is ok, try exporting the photo and printing from Preview or something to see if it's an iPhoto glitch.
Canon's EasyPhotoPrint is very good for quick JPG printing - download it if you don't have it, as it makes all the necessary settings without the printer dialogue.

  • Iphoto 5 - printing problems

Every time I try to print a group of photos as standard prints I get a couple of empty boxes outlined on very expensive best photo paper. Even these are not the 3X5 they should be. This is not satisfactory. I am printing onto an Epson RX620. I have set the printer options to photo paper, photo quality, etc. I can find no reference to this in the help file.
    Thanks for any help

    Hi LJ-Bettona,
You may be better posting this on iphoto discussions, I had a problem with regard to iphoto a few weeks ago and I got sorted.

  • Printer doesn't save paper size in saved printer setting

Canon iR ADV C2020 with the latest driver on 10.8.4

Try holding the Option key and selecting Library from the Go menu in the Finder. Then go to the Preferences folder in the window that opens, and locate the file or files that begins with "com.apple.print.custompresets," and move them out of this folder (e.g., to the trash). After this, log out and back in to your account, and then try setting up your preset again.
You might also remove the file "com.apple.print.printingprefs.plist" since this is involved with what presets are picked.

  • Not able to print to custom 4x6 paper size with Pages 5

I'm having a lot of trouble printing to a custom 4" x 6" paper size with pages 5.  I create my custom size, switch the page setup to use that size in landscape orientation, and everything looks fine.  Then when I go to print the document the destination paper size is set to "Suggested Paper: US Letter" instead of "Custom" as it used to be.  If I do print on US Letter paper then its properly lined up at the top left corner, but if I print on 4x6 it is all cut off.  I've tried scaling it to fit on my 4x6 size in the destination paper size menu, but that just shrinks the whole thing to fit in the center of the 4x6 in portrait orientation.
I am able to do this fine in pages '09, however I've already converted over 40 recipe cards to work with pages 5 and they don't export back to pages '09 properly.
If anyone has any suggestions on how to get this to work I would really appreciate them!
