IPhoto comments/captions/descriptions into iWeb

Hi gang,
I feel that I must be missing something simple ...
I would like the information that I had typed into the description field for photos in iPhoto to appear as the captions for the photo in an iWeb photo page. Is this not possible? I can't seem to find a setting for this. All I get is the photo name (which I don't want to appear at all).
Cheers!

Hi, Phil,
I am having the same problem you describe. I, too, would like to have my iPhoto descriptions appear automatically as the captions for photos in my iWeb photo page. I am surprised that no one has responded to your question, since I was hoping for an easy solution. If you have found a solution for this problem, please post it. If you are still looking for an answer, perhaps some knowledgeable Mac user or support person will read this and explain it to us.
Thanks in advance for any help on this issue.

  • IPhoto comment used in iWeb...?

I know that there is a way to get the comments I entered on photos in an iPhoto album to be entered as the caption / comment of those same photos once it's exported to an iWeb Photo page...
    But I forgot how...
Does anyone else here remember how to do this...?
    Thanks!

I know there is a way to do this directly without scripts or other appz...
I swear I've aready done this: I have an iPhoto album that I added comments to every photo... Those comments were then included as "captions" for the photos on the resultant iWeb photo page... The comments are under the thumbnail and then as the "title" of the window that pops up when you click the thumbnail...
I know I didn't cut and paste 50+ comments from iPhoto into iWeb... But since no one else seems to have any info on this, maybe I did...

  • Getting iPhoto comments to iWeb (iLife 08)

I have a tediously-commented set of photos I made in whatever version of iPhoto was current in 2003. I want to publish them with iWeb to a photo page, but none of the comments carry over, instead I get photo captions like "IMG_0124" when what I really want is the comment text e.g. "San Giovanni in Laterano" (pics from a trip to Rome with a guide friend so every image has an accurate caption) used as a caption. Of course, re-entering all of those comments/captions is an enormous pain in the butt.
The iWeb pages are really nice, but why don't the comments carry over when I export from iPhoto to iWeb?

Here's how you can do what you want.
1 - get the Applescript that's discussed at this page. Be sure to read all of the comments to find the one error that's in the script. It's easy to correct.
2 - select the photos in the album that you want to add to the photo page and run the Applescript.
3 - create a new photo page and drag that iPhoto album from the Media/Photos page into the iWeb photo page. You will now have the comments under each photo.
4 - when you want to return the titles of the photos back to the original file names use the Photos->Batch Change->Titles to File name menu option.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Iweb/iphoto: not able to put photos into iweb site unless named by me!

This is wierd, surely this cant be right. I am building a site in iweb. Sometimes I can drag the photo in no problem, to drop it on the page - any type page, doesnt have to be a Photo /Albums page.
But other times, only the name of the file and a box comes onto the page- no actual photo. Seems to be when the name of the photo file is from the camera, because photos named by me seem to be ok. (But not always! )
Other times, the photo I'm dragging just springs back.
Please can someone tell me what's happening and how to get round! Becuase I am stuck - I cant put the phtos I want into my website.
(I find iphoto pretty annoying anyway - I prefer the way I used to organise my phots on pc, more logical with me naming the folders. I get in such a muddle- it's so much easier to orgaise photo files in Finder, but they still end up messy in iphoto because it doesnt recocgnise the changes Ive just made with Finder! arrggghhhh!!!)

Have all your photos been taken with your camera, if so, they are all jpgs. You can take them from iphoto and place them on to the desktop into a folder. They should all work when you place them into iweb. I have been able to drag and drop illustrator files, photoshop files and jpgs, all which were photos in the first place. It shouldn't matter what they are.
The ones that don't work have you manipulated them in photoshop?

  • How do I get my iPhoto slideshow into iWeb

I made a slideshow in iPhoto, set to music, and I want to get it into iWeb. I see options in iPhoto "help" for exporting photos and photo albums, but not for exporting slideshows, unless I want to export to iDVD. Is this a necessary intermediate step? Thanks!
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    Hi CrannieM,
Select the slideshow in the source column and go to File>export
choose the size...smallest is the best for the web.
    Caveats to this:
if the slideshow contains a lot of photos and transitions and music it will be a large size.
if you used songs purchased from the ITMS others will be asked for your password in order to hear the music. (I think you will even get a message on exporting now that the music will not be heard by others or something to that extent. In order to use purchased music you have to do some work arounds first.
Once you get your Quicktime movie, drag it into the movie template in iWeb.

  • How do I import caption comments from ZoomBrowser into LR?

    Hi There,
I have been using Canon Zoombrowser EX until now, but just got Adobe Lightroom.
I have started importing photos from my hard drive, but noticed that Lightroom is not importing the comments (captions) recorded in Zoombrowser.
How do I get it to do this? Is there a way, or do I manually have to go into every single photo and copy & paste the captions into Lightroom?
    Regards,
    David

    Hi Bill,
I just tried what you suggested, but it didn't work.
It removed the Lightroom Metadata (including keywords) and replaced it with the original metadata, but did not bring out the comments/caption. It must be in there somewhere, but Lightroom can't seem to find it.

  • Import iPhoto descriptions into iMovie?

I have a boatload of photos that I'm trying to make into a slideshow movie in iMovie. I'd like to import all of the photo descriptions that are attached to these photos in iPhoto and turn them into titles in iMovie. Is there an automated way of doing that, or will I have to do it one by one?

iPhoto is supported well by Automator, so you could look to see if any of the automator commands can manipulate the metadata.
iMovie 08 does not support Automator, but you might try Quicktime, iMovie 6, Final Cut Express, or Keynote.
I am not an Automator expert, but you might check this site...

  • How to get MobileMe photo galleries into iWeb or from Aperture?

I currenlty use MobileMe for an iWeb  published site, on which I have a link to a several dozen photo galleries, all pub;ished from Aperture.  iPhoto has an iWeb "button", but Aperture does not so far as I can see.  I am trying to find the easiest way to keep all of my stuff intact once MM dies next year.  How can I migrate, not link, my MM photo galleries into iWeb, and/or publish them from Aperture into iWeb?  Once I have the photo galleries as part of iWeb, then I'll be able to use it to publish to another web hosting service.  Thanks!

Do you have the original image files used to make up those MMe Galleries?  If so you can group them into albums in iPhoto and use the iWeb Album page or Photos page and ignore the MMe galleries.
If the files are in Aperture and there's no Aperture section in iWeb's Media Browser you will have to export those files out of Aperture as originals and drag them either into iPhoto or into an iWeb photos page.  I don't use Aperture so an unsure of what can be done between Aperture and iWeb.
If those galleries are the only copy of the photos you have you'll need to download the file (if the gallery allows it) and import into iPhoto before going into iWeb.

  • IPhoto Albums not updating in iWeb

    Am I missing something?
Have a couple of Smart Albums in iPhoto which I had no problem incorporating into iWeb. But as I add to my iPhoto Library, and more photos end up in these Smart Albums, they are not automatically incorporated into my iWeb page.
I don't expect it to happen magically, but if I have iPhoto running, and I have iWeb running, at the very least I figured that if I clicked on the album page in iWeb it would remember the link it has with iPhoto and be able to calculate that there are additional photos to include. But no, nothing.
Currently I either have to manually go through and figure out which photos were added... slow for me. Or just remove the album from iWeb and add it again... slow for the server as it has to reload a large number of photos unnecessarily.
Surely iPhoto and iWeb are integrated better than that?
    Advise appreciated.

The smart albums do not automatically update iWeb photo pages/albums. To add more photos to an existing iWeb album or photo page you'll need to drag the photos onto the iWeb page to join the existing photos there like in this video screenshot.
In other words, the iWeb page it has to be manually updated.

  • How to Upload Flash into iWeb from Quick Time?

    Hi,
I have created a flash logo in Keynote and have exported it to QuickTime. Not quite sure what to do now as to how I go about getting it into iWeb on the page.
I copied Roddy's code and placed it in an html snippet on my site and it just shows up as a quicktime player.
I am publishing to an external server. Do I need to upload the flash/quicktime file to my media folder on my server?
    Any help please?
    Thanks

If you created it with Keynote '09 there is no option to export a .swf as there was in '08.
I think the illustration I referred you to is a QT in an iFrame because Keynote '08 can't export the 3D transition as flash. I guess that's why they dropped it in '09.
    The settings are:
    Effect: Color Planes
    Duration: 3 seconds
    Direction: Left to Right
    Start transition: Automatically
    Delay: 2 seconds
Too many people on the dark side don't have QuickTime. I do all my music as flash now and have started to use FAExporter for iPhoto to display images

  • Inserting Pics into iWeb

I have been assembling some portions of our bogl but am concerned about file sizes. We have a Nikon d70 and which has pretty large files when in fine mode. I pull them into iWeb from iPhoto with no postprocessing for size/res. It puts relatively small thumbnails but the slideshow files are pretty big (110-120kb).
Do most people post process before inserting? I thought iWeb pretty much did all that for you to a set standard or does it base it on a percentage size reduction?
    Thanks
    IMAC EyeSight - 15" Powerbook g4   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

I have exactly the same problem - and I am on broadband although a fairly slow broadband. I have taken to reducing all my pictures to be posted to Jpegs. Or at least with me it would be only some - about 25% that would be pixellated. I never thought of asking someone with a higher broadband to test to see if OK for her/him.
Hi - I have a related question. I'm just creating my
first ever web site - it's only fairly simple for a
small charity association - and using iWeb has been
great for this because of its intuivity - is this a
    real word?
But the only problem is that now the site is at last
'up there' when I check out the the Photo pages
neither the thumbnail pics or their fill size
versions appear correctly - highly pixellated and
unrecognisable. In fact they look as if they were
imported at very very low res but in reality it's
quite the opposite and I was actually worried that
they could be too high res.
I am not on Broadband, just a slow dial-up connectin
    - yet a friend with broadbad has just check my site
and they come out great for him. Any ideas? Is it
just that I am not on a higher speed connection? If
so this will be a problem because many visitors to
the site will be overseas with a slow connection
also. I'm happy to re-configure my Photos pages with
smaller images but could do with advice as to what
would be the best image size and resolution to ensure
success. Hope someone can help. Thanks.

  • Does the caption descriptions export along with exporting slideshows?

Does the caption descriptions export along with exporting slideshows ( iPhoto 09)?

    George,
It sounds like the approach you are using is the correct one. This seems to be the cleanest solution to me especially since the customer is able to modify the generated SQL statements for their new system.
In order to preserve the AutoInc values I would recommend altering the table and changing the field datatype from AutoInc to Integer. Then export the table as code which will export the actual values. After the tables have been created on the new system they can change the field datatype back to an AutoInc type if necessary.

  • How import folder into iweb

As I posted, my iweb project is missing - it is no longer listed in the index when I open the program.
I have the site saved in a desktop folder - how do I import the folder into iweb so i can load the porject again?
    Thanks,
    Diana.

Occasionally iWeb will open and you won't be able to see anything in it, not the websites you've built nor any of the menu items.  If you're experiencing that try the following:
    1 - open iPhoto.
    2 - select a couple of photos.
3 - use the Share ➙ iWeb ➙ Photo Page menu.
It might take a couple of tries.
    Happy New Year
