IPhoto compatibilty with Epson 3000z camera

I have an Epson 3000z digital camera. I am using an older verson of IPhoto, I believe 2. IPhoto doesn't recognize my camera. I went to Epson's website and they don't have any drivers for it. I was wondering if the newer versions of IPhoto recognize the Epson 3000z or do I need to get a new camera. Any help is appreciated. I will be upgrading to a new Powerbook which should come with a newer version of IPhoto. Also will the newer versions of IPhoto recognize my Rokr Itunes phone for pictures? I would like to upload pictures into IPhoto, but it doesn't work. Is there any other software that would allow me to upload my camera phone pictures to my computer?

Thanks

  • Iphoto with Epson PC3000Z camera

Hi, I am a brand new (just 2 days!) Mac owner. I have an Epson PC3000Z digital camera with USB connection. This camera has worked just fine on a PC running WindowsXP.
When I plug the camera into my new MacBook Pro, iphoto does not recognize that anything has happened. It did not auto launch, and after launching it, it does not have my camera listed under "sources". I went to iphoto help and tried to find out what to do. Among the cameras supported is the Epson PC3100Z, but not the 3000. Epson does not seem to have drivers for OSX. Does this mean that I can't import any of my pictures to my new Mac?

I just finished talking to my long-time Mac-owning sister, she informed me that the camera is too old and there are no drivers for OSX from Epson. She thought that my new Mac is probably unable to run in "classic" mode, so I thought of exactly the same work around as you have suggested; go buy a card reader.
Thanks for your help..... at least now I know there is a place I can come for help as I go through this (sometimes painful) process of switching from Windows to Mac.

  • Printing in iPhoto 08 with Epson R220

I'm a recent Mac convert and am trying to print using my reliable Epson R 220 printer. The colors aren't accurate and I realize I'm missing some colors in the cartridge. On my former PC I could check the printer utility and run a test to find out which colors are low in the cartridge. I can't seem to get this needed information from my Mac printer utility.Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If you installed the software that came with your printer, check in your Applications folder for the Epson Printer Utility. It gives you the Option to Check the Printer Ink Levels, align the printheads etc. If you don't have the software you can downloaded from the Epson website, the Driver & Support section.

  • Camera compatibilty with Mac and Iphoto 04

I have been search the Apple site for a list of compatible cameras for iPhoto, and keep getting back to the main iPhoto page which tells me that the link is missing, or I typed the wrong URL...
We have a Fuji A700 which is not Apple Mac compatible. It also has a few problems so we are thinking of getting another camera. Does anyone have any good experience with a compatible camera, especially using iPhoto 04. We are in Australia, and the makes and models are not always the same as in other parts of the world. But I would be interested especially in makes which are easy to use, have a big viewing screen to peer through, and buttons which are not designs for midgets but can cope with arthritic fingers!

OzYves: Go to Hard drive>Users>your accountname>Pictures. Inside the Pictures folder you should find at least one folder with "iPhoto Library" in its name. Open that folder (or folders), and *without moving, deleting or adding anything to the folder(s)* check inside to see whether your pictures are there. If there is any library folder that doesn't seem to contain any pictures, or that only contains the last 23 pictures you tried to import, move that library folder out onto the desktop. If there are more than two library folders in the Pictures folder, leave the one that contains the largest number of pictures or that occupies the largest amount of hard drive storage space, and move the others to the desktop.
Open iPhoto. If it tells you its library is missing, opt to find the library, not to create a new one. Navigate to the Library folder in the Pictures folder and select it for opening. If it opens but no pictures are displayed, quit iPhoto and rebuild the Library: press and hold the Shift and Option keys while starting iPhoto; hold them down until you're asked whether you want to rebuild the library. Click Yes, then click Save. A new iPhoto Library_1 folder will be created inside your Pictures folder, alongside the original, corrupt iPhoto Library folder, and the new library will open (if iPhoto quits unexpectedly at the end of the rebuild, just reopen it; that happens sometimes and is usually harmless). Once you're satisfied that all is well with the new library, trash the old one and empty the trash to regain the disk space it occupies. If you get this far, post back for instructions on reclaiming the contents of any other iPhoto Library folders that you moved to the desktop previously.
I confess to being mystified by the message you received about "this version of iPhoto." All I can think of is that you have, or had, iPhoto Library folders that had been created using more than one version of iPhoto. If that doesn't sound right to you, I can't explain the message at all.
"The device you removed was not properly put away. Data might have been lost or damaged. Before you unplug your device, you must first select its icon in the Finder and choose Eject from the File menu."
That error message appears when you disconnect a USB or FireWire storage device prematurely. I can imagine it appearing if such a device were connected and then a faulty USB or FireWire cable were moved in such a way as to sever the connection accidentally, without actually unplugging the cable. So I suggest connecting your camera with a different (preferably new) USB cable and seeing whether a bad cable, rather than the xD card format, is the culprit in the Mac's failure to recognize the card in your new camera. The USB cables supplied with many cameras are thin, delicate and really of poor quality. Individual conductors in such cables can break without any outward sign of damage.
If your camera used any card format other than xD, I would probably urge you to buy an inexpensive card reader and remove the camera itself from the process of transfarring pictures to your Mac. You would then remove the card from the camera, insert it in the card reader, connect the reader to the Mac using its own USB cable, and expect to see the card mounted on the desktop. You could then import pictures directly from the card into iPhoto, or copy them to a folder and later import them from the folder. But because my experience has been that Macs often don't recognize xD cards even in a functional card reader, I can't recommend that workaround to you.

Even now when I share the Garageband created files with iTunes 11.1.1, the volime I previously set in Garageband is retained. However, when I use the music to create a slide show in iPhoto 2008 and export to Quicktime 7.6.6, the volume level I previously set is lost and seems to default to a low level. The problem seems to be either in the slide show export from iPhoto 2008 to Quicktime 7.6.6 or in Quicktime itself. Is there a work around, so that I can retain the volume level I had previously set in Garageband, a volume level that seems to transfer without problem to the new iTunes. But then iPhoto 2008 (slide show) possibly or Quicktime 7.6.6 do not cooperate. Before I did the upgrade to Snow Leopard, the new iTunes and Quicktime I had no problems with the set volume being retained in the old Quicktime. The reason I need control over the volume is that all these music files are uploaded to YouTube.

  • Opening iPhoto 8 JPG file with Photoshop CS3 Camera Raw editor

I have all my photos stored in my iPhoto 8 library. I have both RAW (CR2) and JPG images. iPhoto 8 opens the CR2 images with Photoshop Raw editor, but I want to use iPhoto to open JPG images with the Photoshop Raw editor using Camera Raw.
How do I do this without having to export JPG images and opening from Photoshop?
    Thanks!
    SP

    SP:
If you're trying to use the RAW editor on a jpg it can't be done. It will only work on the RAW file. If you are wanting to edit the RAW file from within iPHoto with CS3 then set CS3 to be the editor of choice in iPhoto's general preferences. Next go to the Advanced iPhoto preference pane and select the option "User RAW when using external editor". That will open the RAW file with Photoshop's raw editor. When you finish you MUST save the new file to the Desktop and import as a new file.
For some general info on using Photoshop with iPhoto:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 6 the Saving File preferences should be configured: "On First Save: Save Over Current File". Also I suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: iPhoto 8's new option in it's rebuild library window, "Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" may make this tip obsolete. We'll know when users have occasion to use it and see if that's the case.

  • IPhoto crashing with camera card inserted into reader......

I replied to another thread regarding iPhoto crashing this morning, the first time that I have attempted to import photos into the newest iPhoto. After posting my replies, I noted that the question had been answered and I don't want this topic to die because it's still an issue with me to a certain extent. So here goes again... I have had 6 crashes this morning when I attempted to import photos with my camera card inserted. It crashed each time. Four of the 6 times I was able to report to Apple about the crashes- the first 2 times the report to Apple box didn't come up after clicking on Report. My work around until Apple fixes this bug is to not have iPhoto open when my camera card is inserted. I drag my photos from the camera card to my desktop, remove card, open iPhoto and import the pictures. Of course the downside is that I can't 'split' the photos into different events...... I hope Apple comes up with a fix for this bug. Judy
PS- I am using the latest version of iPhoto although I haven't checked this mornng to see if there is an update.

    mrstee:
You can split into events when importing from the Finder/Desktop. Go into iPhoto's Events preference section and check the Finder check box. They will then be split in accordance with the criteria set in that section, i.e. 1-day, 1-week, etc.
To try to find the problem try deleting the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, from your User/Library/Preferences folder.
Next, if necessary, boot into Safe Mode and see if you can import successfully. If you can then your account is at fault. In that case one possible fix is the following:
    Trouble Shooting Preferences
Go to HD/Users/Your_name/Library. Move the Preferences folder (in its entirety) to the Desktop and make a second copy of it so you have Copy A and B. Now try the the process again and determine if problem is fixed.
If the problem IS fixed, then go to the new Prefs folder that the OS will have created and open it up.
Open Copy B on the Desktop and select all of the items inside. Drag them into the open new library folder. When the Copy window comes up check the Apply to All check box and then click on the Don't Replace button as seen here. That will keep the new files created and bring back all of the others.
If the problem is NOT fixed, trash the new Prefs folder and move the intact Copy A folder back to the Library folder .
If that doesn't work then a reapplication of of the 10.4.10 COMBO updater followed by a repair of disk permissions might do the trick.
    Do you Twango?

My video that was taken with a digital camera and imported into iPhoto plays back at a very fast speed. Any ideas why?

Is it a slow motion video? iPhoto does not understand the slow motion tags created by some cameras, eg.g. the iPhone back camera.

  • Applications that came with Epson printer on Win XP respond "Can't open... PowerPC apps no longer supported.  Were they in Snow Leopard before I upgraded?

Epson pinter came with photo apps that ran under Windows XP. Loaded onto iMac 27", they don't respond with "Not compatable with Mac" but rather with "You can't open the application ..... whichever one ..... because PowerPC applications are no longer supported".  Were they supported under Snow Leopard OS before I upgraded to Lion?  Why "NO LONGER" SUPPORTED?

Were they supported under Snow Leopard OS before I upgraded to Lion?
    Yes, using something called Rosetta.
    Why "NO LONGER" SUPPORTED?
OS X 10.7 does not support Power PC applications.  I do not speak for Apple, but it appears they determined that since most applications are written Universal Binary, there was no reason to incur the expense of maintenance in the new OS X.
Many manufacturers have provided updates for older equipment (some have not).  I suggest you either run software update andor check with Epson.

  • Imported RAW images badly corrupted, looks like red paint splashed all over the sky.  Photoshop and Iphoto have no problem with the images from my D800E.  Aperture worked fine for me in June with the same camera.  The Nikon software shows no problem.

I am having a problem importing my images into Aperture 3 from my Nikon D800E.  The images appear as if red paint was splashed across the sky.  The Nikon software used to transfer from the camera does not show this problem and Photoshop 6 is fine with the images exported as jpg from the Nikon software.  Aperature does not even like the jpg images usable by Photoshop.  I am suspecting that Aperture is not correctly using the camera raw file.  Also, the histograms are radically different between the corrupted images and the Photoshop (good) versions.  Aperture worked just fine for me in June with the same camera.  All drivers and software are current as of this posting.  Anyone else out there seen this before??

Are you sure you do not have Highlight Hot & Cold Areas turned on? (View->Highlight Hot & Cold Areas)?
The bug in Digital Camera raw only affected Raw images. In your first post you wrote:
Aperature does not even like the jpg images usable by Photoshop
If the JPG's have the same problem then it isn't this bug.

  • Printing with epson RX620

The RX620 all in one is new to me. Am wanting to print 4 different pictures on an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet. This means a print 4 1/4 by 5 1/2. The printer only recognizes standard 4 x 6 or 5 x 7 and of course printing only 2 pics. Already talked with epson, they sent me to apple which sent me to iBook G3 and was told that maybe appleworks might help. Limited knowledge so go slow for me. Thankyou, Earl.

N-Up printing must have been added after version 2. It's in iPhoto 5, which shipped with Tiger, but not in version 1.1.x (came with jaguar).
    So...On to using AppleWorks.
Getting photos into AppleWorks can be a simple matter of Drag and Drop, but you may find some problems with resolution and resizing.
Sharon Joiner's User Tip on improving graphics resolution in AppleWorks was the first AppleWorks User Tip Library entry in the discussions, and is still relevant.
I tried a Drag & Drop into a Draw document earlier today with a JPG photo from a 5 Mpix Pentax camera, then used Scale by Percent (in the Arrange menu) to resize it to an appropriate size for 4-Up printing. It appeared to maintain good resolution at a high magnification, but I didn't print, so I don't know what the final product would look like. If it works with your printer, it's a simpler process thn the one in Sharon's tip; if not, hers is a process that will work.
An alternate is to use a third party application (such as Graphic Converter) to convert the photos to PICT format before dragging them into Appleworks. PICT graphics are resizeable in AW.
Others may have additional suggestions. These should get you started. Post back with what works for you; the information amy be useful to the next person with a similar issue.

  • IPhoto crashes with my SD card

I have had ongoing problems with iPhoto for approx the last 6 months. I suspect there are multiple causes. First some images somehow were corrupted and this caused serious problems with iPhoto library file. I have been unable to rescue this so far but have finally determined that I do have a backup of all my images that were in the library. I decided to gradually rebuild the library from scratch by importing the backed up images. I've created a new library and yesterday was able to import 8 images from a tiny Canon SD card that came with my camera (and using the cable connection from the camera (a Canon Powershot A620). I then imported ~500 of my backed up images, and put them into a few albums. All good so far. I was able to quit iPhoto and reopen with no problem. Then this morning I decided to plug in to my MacBookPro the SD card that I have mainly been using in my camera. It is a 1G Sandisk Ultra II with a USB connector built in. When I plugged it into the computer iPhoto launched immediately and some of the photos imported yesterday were visible. After a few seconds the rainbow wheel of death appeared and nothing more happened with iPhoto. I did a force quit (iPhoto was 'not responding'), ejected the SD card and tried to reopen iPhoto. Now, even despite the SD card not being attached to the computer, when try to open iPhoto it launches a window in which I can see some of the photos but just like before, after a few seconds the rainbow wheel of death appears and nothing more happens. Does anyone have any ideas what is the cause of this? I have two of these 1G USB SD cards and have used them with iPhoto since 2006 without any major problems up until 6 months ago. In the intervening time I upgraded my OS to Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and upgraded the iLife package too (to iLife '11). Since then I think I have successfully imported photos direct from these SD cards. However perhaps at some point something changed to create a conflict somewhere?

Since a new library also presented the same problem it appears that it might either be the memory card or iPhoto itself.
First let's test the memory card by reformatting it in the camera, take a few test shots and try importing into the library again.
If this still doesn't help reinstall iPhoto. To do so you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder and from the /var/db/receipts/  folder,
Then install iPhoto from the source it came from originally and apply all necessary updaters.
