Iphoto Contact Sheet seems to not be WISYWIG

Hi,
From iPhoto I am trying to print a contact sheet which is set 3 columns wide.
All seems file when in iPhoto. I can set the photos I want, and remove the titles. Everything seems fine.
However the A4 sheet I have in my iPhoto Print project gets reduced when I print it. The effect is to have the photos on a much reduced scale in the middle of the page.
If I print to PDF then I get the same effect.
My printer is a Cannon iP4500 but I don't think it is at fault.
Any help gratefully appreciated.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. I just tried a contact sheet on A4 and saving to pdf. It appears correct. Delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder, launch iPhoto and try again.
If that doesn't fix the situation, check the preset you're using, if any to make sure none of the advanced printer settings in Paper Handling might be set to reduce the size of what's printed. There's one setting, scale to fit paper that you might check. It will scale up the layout to fill the page the best possible.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Lightroom 5.4 and Acrobat XI Pro - print contact sheet to PDF not working

Since upgrading to Lightoom 5 and Adobe Acrobat XI Pro, I have been unable to print a contact sheet to PDF. Although it goes through the motions of rendering and providing a "save as" dialog box, nothing is produced. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the quick reply. The following are my system specs. This feature has worked in the past but since upgrading from LR4 to LR5, this feature has stopped working. I can print to a printer, but not to a PDF.
    HP Z800 Workstation
    Duel Intel Xeon X5670 @ 2.93GHz Processors
    18 GB RAM
    Windows 7 Professional
    Lightroom 5.4
    Acrobat XI Pro (Version 11.0.06.70)
It will go through the motions, as if it is creating the PDF, but it doesn't output anything. I've restarted Lightroom and rebooted my system, but nothing seems to help.

  • Contact sheet and photomerge not working

I run Creative Cloud at a college and I'm trying to get the photo merge and contact sheet functions working in photoshop CC 2014
I can run it from an administrator account but not the student accounts, where permissions are limited. The students get a dialog box like the following:
This leads me to believe its a permissions error and I've run a procmon trace to try and find out where where the permissions need to be but I can't see anything that stands out. Is there a list of folders/filetypes that need to be able to run?

It seems to be using ExtendScript.dll according to procmon.
    It is trying to find:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2014\Presets\Scripts\ContactSheetII\ContactSheetII_en_GB.dat.LNK
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2014\Presets\Scripts\ContactSheetII\ContactSheetII_en_GB.dat
which both don't exist on the filesystem as there is no ContactSheetII folder containing them.
It tries to do this about 100 times before (I assume) failing

  • How to include movie poster frames in iphoto contact sheet?

I cant see how to include movies in contact sheet.  Is it possible?  I'm using iphoto v8.0.2.

I suppose Old Toad's solution will work. However, this will change the dates on the originals and I don't think that is desireable in general.
I think there is a bug in the printing of contact sheets. If one selects all photos in an album that has been re-orded manually and then starts the print sequence, the initial sheet with 3 columns is ordered correctly. But, as soon as you try to change the number of columns the ordered reverts to date order of the originals.
Am I missing something or is this really a bug? If it is, how do I report it?

  • Printing Contact Sheet - Title Does Not Move With Margin

When printing a contact sheet (bloody thing won't save but that's already reported), I increase the left margin to 2cm to suit the folder that I use. If I have Title ticked in Page options, the Title remains in the same position which means it is obscured by the folder's border. The same thing happens with page numbers if you increase the right margin.
Is there any way to change the location of the Title and Page fields so that they can be aligned with the margins.
Also, it would be nice to change the fonts, alignments and sizes of these header items.

This is not an ideal solution but in playing around with logos in the header, it occurred to me that you could adjust your logo to include the necessary blank space to move the Title to the right.
Still not perfect and it doesn't address the sizing, alignment issues but slightly better.

  • Contact sheets-meta data not printing

On contact sheets the meta data I choose to print (Apsect Ratio, Master Pixel Size, etc etc) only prints the begining of each line, and ends with an"..." For example I get "File Size 9..." or "Pixel Size 2048 x 225..."
This happens despite the amount of rows, columns and print size of the images.
I need to see the full data on my proof prints and contact sheets.
Any ideas why it's not printing complete meta content?
    Thanks
    bc

I'm running a test wtih Arial. Pretty simple right? In the OS print preview I can see the full meta data, but when printed it's still cutting off Meta Data...Here's a sample of what I'm getting. I can't figure out Aperture's preference with what it will print and what it will ....

  • Iphoto contact sheet - how to increase text size

How to increase the text size on my contact sheet? Currently  it is too small to read

The only way to change the text size is to reduce the number of columns for the contact sheet and then it's not a lot different.

  • Iphoto contact sheet

Is it possible to print a contact sheet which includes the "comments" found with the photo information?

Yes. Instead of Print, Contact Sheet use Share, Export, Web Page. .The "contact sheet" will be the thumbnails so be sure to select the Show title and Show comment boxes. Create a webpage, open it in your browser and print from there.

  • Contact Sheets - Development team please take note

I am amazed (trying to be polite) at the thoroughly inadequate way in which Aperture can generate Contact Sheets. Oh yes you can print w/ or w/o data. There is however no control of, margins, spaces, frame size, etc. What makes matters worse is trying to print w/ name only - gives you "Version Name:xxxx".
Not only is this baffling, it is aethetically displeasing. I checked posts on this discussion, nothing since Jan 06 (even then there were complaints), here we are an upgrade later and still this paultry output method. Sharewares have more features. Aperture is touted as being for photo-professionals, yet in generates very unprofessional contact sheets. I do not want to end up regretting the purchase, but it looks like I will have to use LR to print my contact sheets. LR not only gives you greater control, but in addition you can print w/ crop marks or borders. I sincerely hope someone from Apple is reading.

Thanks, I have considered that possibility. But that is a great deal of effort, un-necessary effort. And, as you say you are limited by size. Just printed out another set of contacts for a client, could not possibly show them the image quality is so bad. Apple concentrated on web & book and ignored print altogether. Canon Image Browser prints better contacts. I am in the process now of reworking all images:import into bridge export as tiff and print through LR. I had spent a great deal of time evaluating a number of apps C1, LR and Aperture. I had grown impatient w/ Adobe over Canon 30D Raw (dragging their feet on upgrade patches), I shoot with Canon 5D and 30D. Spent a fair amount of time in my local Apple store using Aperture (to the extent I imported from my own CD's, portable HD). Loved the interface, and the way files imported. Checked on output Web and Books fine. But who would have ever thought that a very basic, I re-iterate "basic" need of the photographer, the contact sheet, would be so sorrily overlooked.

  • Contact Sheet Titles

I am trying to print out a Contact Sheet of photos of jewelry to make a sample sheet using iPhoto 4.0.1. It would be most understandable if the name of each photo (the name given to the file) were to print alongside each small image in the contact sheet. My old Epson software (OS9) used to be able to make a contact sheet and you could choose to print Date, Title, File Size, etc.
Can iPhoto add the file name to ech image on a contact sheet?
If not, is there a workaround?
    Marc

    Marc:
You're in the iPhoto 6 forum but I'll try to answer your question. You can't in iPhoto but there are a couple of workarounds.
One is to create a book with the Yearbook theme. Then put your pictures in one of the pages that have the number of photos per page that you want, up. up to 32 per page. It will automatically enter the file name under each picture. Do a Print to PDF of the book, open it with Preview and print just the page(s) you want. The downside to this method is that you only get landscape orientation for the page.
The other way is to use Galerie to create a web gallery of the pictures. It will let you include the file name under the pictures. You can set the number of photos per row and rows per page. Then open the gallery (just the index page) in Safari and print from there.
    Do you Twango?

  • Photoshop CC and Bridge CC - Creating a contact sheet.

I am really frustrated that the process has changed in making a contact sheet as a PDF. I'm trying to follow the instructions on Adobe Photoshop help with little success. Contact Sheet II is not a good option given you have to create multiple Photoshop files. Am I missing something? What happened to the "Output" option in Bridge? If you shoot 300 pictures you end up with 15 separate Photoshop files instead of 1 PDF file. How is this better for a contact sheet? My guess is there is a fix out there that I haven't found yet.
In part of the instructions online you are instructed to..."If the Output space is not listed, open Adobe Bridge Preferences (Ctrl + K on Windows or Command + K on Mac OS), select the Startup Scripts panel, and select Adobe Output Module." I went there but "Output Module" is not an option in the list.
I'm a high school Photography teacher who is learning the latest Photoshop software. Previously I worked in Photoshop CS4 and creating a contact sheet was very simple! My tech department is unable to help so any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. This new process is really cumbersome for the students. Thank you.

  • Snow Leopard contact sheet layout changes possible?

Unable to change contact sheet layout to suit my needs. E.g. I want 6 photos per page in two columns. The default option for two columns seems to be 2 or 4 photos/page. Ask for six and it creates two pages. The layout within the contact sheet seems to have lost some of the flexibility that OSX Leopard had. Is there something that I am overlooking?

    Thanks for your response.
This what I do without getting the results I would like for 8.5x11 paper:
    1. I select 6 photos
    2. Hit "Print"
    3. Select "Contact Sheet" - the 6 photos are shown at the top of the 'page' in two rows.
    4. Select "Customize"
    5. Select "2 columns" (in the hope of getting the 6 photos arranged on one sheet - with the sheet in portrait format. Instead I get 4 photos on one sheet and lots of blank space.
    6. Select "Layout" icon. I see a sheet with 12 rectangles and a "1" in the margin. I am unable to make changes to the layout as shown.
Hopefully I have described my situation well enough for you.
    Thanks

  • Contact Sheet II missing from menu (CS4)

    Hello,
I have CS4 and in Photoshop automate menu Contact Sheet II is not listed. It's also not listed in Bridge under Tools>Photoshop.
I've seen discussions on here for the entire automate section to be missing in Photoshop and the whole photoshop section missing in Bridge, but nothing on a single menu item missing.
I know it's supposed to be there in CS4, A) because I've used it before (on another machine), and B) Adobe Photoshop CS4 * Create a contact sheet. It's driving me nuts!

Ohhh, turns out you have to install plugins for them (Adobe Photoshop CS4 * Optional plug-ins, also on the 3rd disc "Content").

  • Creating InDesign Contact Sheets

    I just upgraded to CS3 from CS2.
I am trying to use Bridge to create InDesign contact sheets.
The problem is when I am in Bridge CS3 and go to Tools > InDesign > Create InDesign Contact Sheets, I can not get Bridge CS3 to recognize photos in sub folders.
Bridge CS2 had a "Files" button that would open a window that had a "Include Sub Folders" button. That button has been removed in Bridge CS3.
Any ideas on how to tell Bridge CS3 to include sub folders when creating InDesign contact sheets.
    Thanks

It can be a little convoluted from a logic perspective, but search for "filename does not equal" and, to find all files, set the value to something stupid like "#@#@#@#@"
Check "Include All Subfolders". If there's any chance you haven't browsed all of the subfolders in bridge (to build the caches for those subfolders), check the "Include Non-indexed Files (may be slow)" checkbox.
I wrote the Contact Sheet script as a contractor for Adobe. I removed the "Files" button because Bridge actually does a much better job of filtering and finding files than the "Find" button ever could.
The "Find" button encouraged people to not use Bridge to its best advantage. I got a number of emails from folks wanting more functionality in the "Find" button than was possible (via scripting) when everything they needed was available in Bridge!
By the way, I am planning on releasing a updated and more feature-rich contact sheet (for InDesign) script in the coming weeks. Check my web site for it in mid-late October.
