Iphoto crashing on upgrading library

Question

I am on a new MBP that I did a mac to mac transfer on.  When opening iPhoto it tells me I need to upgrade the library, so I do.  It crashes.  Here's the report (can post more if needed):

I saw another discussion where it was suggested to create a new iPhoto library and try to import photos.  I did that and crashed during import.  Here's that log:

I'm not sure what to do next.

Well, I just tried.  I tried downloading 9.2.1 from iPhoto 9.2.1 but when I try to run the install it says:
The version of iPhoto installed on this Mac must be updated through the Mac App Store. Check the Mac App Store to see if an update is available
Even though About iPhoto shows I'm running 9.2, when I try to select it in the App Store, it says it's "Installed."
And Software Update does not show anything for iPhoto.
So how else do I possibly get that update??
