Iphoto: custom book started in powerpoint. Yow. Need help.

Very frustrated. A newbie at this. Trying to put together cooking recipes and photos into a book for a gift.Wanted more text (like 3/4 s of a page) and more font sizes than allowed. Tried cut and pasting; many yellow warning triangles.
Have started and quit for months! Tried to read User 'Temecula Froggie web hints ( #19) but that section loads and then disappears before I can read it. OR should I just use powerpoint and download to a site like Kinkos?
Would appreciate any help you can provide.

Briefly, go to the thumbnail mode in Powerpoint and type Command+P. In the next window click on the PDF button and select save PDF to iPhoto.

Hard drive recently failed and iPhoto brings a -36 error when copying need help accessing image files

I recently updated my computer to mountain lion and after doing so my computer would no longer boot up. I took it to the apple store and they told me that the hard drive was damaged and needed to be replaced. They were booting my computer with an external drive and in doing so could access my computers HDD. Upon starting to drag and drop files to a new hard drive I started to get a lot of -36 errors. I proceeded to go go,e and create my own bootable thumb drive and try doing the same process with more time to look through it. I have up till now been able to copy most of my files but have run into a problem with iPhoto.
I have been searching around for a while now and have yet to find a method that helps me in my particular situation so I am now asking for help myself. I will explain what my current system of file recovery is and see if anyone can help me out.
I have since then replaced the HDD in my computer and purchased a SATA external HDD enclosure for the original drive. This allows me to still access all files and folders from the original drive. I have managed to recover a majority of the files but have recently run into a problem with the iPhoto library. Every time I try to drag and drop the iPhoto library to my new HDD it fails after "transferring" 2.02GB and tells me it has encountered a -36 error because some files cannot be read or written. I believe I am using iPhoto '09, I will check and confirm that later.
I am looking for a way to open iPhoto's library and access the image files it seems to be hiding from me. Please understand that I cannot open the iPhoto library either, I have lost access to the library entirely and want to see if there are any image files that I can save. I dont have the computer backed up recently and want to save my photos. Thanks for looking and I'm hoping someone can help.

Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command). Rebuild it to the Pictures Folder. This might overcome the -36 issue.
(This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.)
Failing that you're into recovering your Originals from the damaged Library and creating a new Library and starting over from scratch.

Just started Livecycle yesterday. Need help with Javascripting

I'm new to scripting in general, but have figured out enough to be dangerous in Acrobat. Unfortunately, Acrobat no longer fulfills the need I have for dynamic forms and I have started trying to figure out Livecycle. Is the scripting in Livecycle THAT different from Acrobat that I need to relearn the scripting I figured out in Acrobat? Below is an example. It is in a table where I am trying to determine height of instrument (HI) from the elevation (Ele) and the difference between back (BS) and fore sights (FS). Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

All I can do is provide you some background information on how WLI uses a database. Perhaps that will lead you to a clue about what changed in the database infrastructure.
By default, WLI uses the Pointbase database engine to manage some internal tables that it requires. When you create a WLI domain, it creates the infrastructure bits that control the initialization and management of the Pointbase tables.
It's possible to change your WLI domain to use a different, more robust, database like Oracle. In fact, BEA specifically said that they do not support WLI domains in production that are using Pointbase. It's not a very robust database engine, but it works well enough for demos and simple applications.
I don't know what you did to your domain, but you might try creating a new WLI domain and deploying your application to it.
I believe there's a different forum that might be more appropriate for WLI questions, but I'm not sure which one that would be.

Start up disk full need help freeing up space.

My start up disk almost full. Shows 137 GB in "other category" Have been able to locate 75 GB but not 137GB. what makes up "Other"?

First, empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. Then reboot. That will temporarily free up some space. According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB free on the startup volume for normal operation. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of your data. Use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper to explore your volume and find out what's taking up the space. Proceed further only if the problem hasn't been solved. ODS can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To really see everything, you have to run it as root. Back up all data now. Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways: ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.) ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens. ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid. After installing ODS in the Applications folder, drag or copy — do not type — the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of this. Don't delete anything while running ODS as root. When you're done with it, quit it and also quit Terminal.

ONCE THE DATA IS IN THE TABLE I WANT TO BE ABLE TO SELECT INDIVIDUAL STRINGS FROM THE TABLE AND PLACE IT IN A NEW TABLE. WHEN I CLICK ON A STRING I WOULD LIKE THE SELECTED STRING TO SHOW IN A TEXT BOX LABELED 'SELECTED STEP' AFTER ALL THE SELECTED STRINGS IS IN THE TABLE I WOULD LIKE TO SAVE THE NEW TABLE AS ANOTHER SPREADSHEET -- TAB DELIMITED -- FILE, MAKING IT ACCESSIBLE TO OPEN. HERE IS WHAT I HAVE SO FAR. I CAN INPUT DATA INTO THE TABLE, BUT I CAN ONLY TRANSFER ONE STRING INTO THE TABLE I WOULD LIKE TO BE TO INPUT MULTIPLE STRINGS. The question you are asking is the same one that you asked in: http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&message.id=132508#M132508, to which I supplied a revised version of the original vi you used (which was modified from the original one I supplied to an earlier thread). A couple of questions: 1) What does my latest not do that is in your question, 2) Why are you starting yet another thread about the same problem? We are here trying to help, it makes it a lot easier if you keep the same problem in the same thread, it reduces duplication of effort from those that might not have been following the previous thread(s). Those of us that don't have our "names in blue" are just doing this "for fun" (the blue names are NI employees, who may still be doing it "for fun"), and it makes it more fun if it doesn't seem (correctly or not) that our attempts are ignored. If an answer doesn't help, or seems incomplete, post a little more detail to the same thread so that the original respondent, or someone new, can provide more information, or understand your problem better.

Cant start premire cs6 trial, need help

I downloaded and installed the cs6 family trial on my 2g hp notebook with windows 7 and I cant start or find the program.

You might also face the same concern with After Effects as both the application require 64 bit OS architecture.

I have used firefox for years. I watched the Getting Started tutorial. I need help in identifying the "Firefox button"

If some of the features on the tutorial are not new, I didn't know about them and have never used them. The video moved along very quickly. I found it difficult to keep up. I couldn't find the "Firefox button" referred to in the instructions. It seems there a lot of great features available that I would like to use. I don't like Safari or IE. I much prefer Firefox, but I need clearer guidance. Thank you for any help you might offer.

You have no Firefox Menu button on a Mac.<br />
The Firefox button is only available on Windows and Linux and shows when the Menu bar is hidden.<br />
On Mac the menu bar is maintained by the Mac OS and not by Firefox and the Menu bar is always visible and can't be hidden, so there is no need for such a menu button.<br />

Newbie Starting from Scratch! Need help!

We have been working toward activating for the public our iTunesU presence. The goal was to have the site public on the iTunes Store this week, which is the week of our inauguration of our new President of the university. So, the past months have found us designing graphics, generating content, and we are at long last ready to move this project to the public.
My background is in digital imaging, and I do have experience in site work and network administration, but I'm far from a web expert, so could use all the help and hand holding possible! One other concern is that I noted that it can take 2-4 weeks for activation of the public link on iTunes, which contradicts what I've been told in the past by Apple.. I just thought that once I clicked the public button that the site was live. Since our goal is to have this working this weekend for next week's events, I'm more then a little concerned. So, any advice on this would be welcome.
We aren't starting off with courses, but just a small set of content. 3-4 video interviews about Pop Art, an Audio Interview (Robert Moog), and a lesson on Jazz Drumming. We have artworks finished, and files ready to upload. So, trying to understand a simple, yet easy way to present the material.
That is where I'm not totally understanding the site hierarchy, and the best way to approach it conceptually. Lastly, is there anyone that I can call to talk through some of these issues?
We are excited to finally bring this project to fruition, and thanks for your help. Reading your posts and answers has been great!

Those setting are easy to recreate, so deleting it doesn't cost you much effort.

If you don't want to sure you're not going to use AirPort you can either turn it off or use a "location" that doesn't have an AirPort connection item.
i can set what priority the iMac will conduct its seacrh for internet -- and assuming the ethernet wire is functioning -- then it will default there and only attempt a wireless connection if the ethernet cable fails for some reason
I have Ethernet first and AirPort second. Since my last reboot 99.95% of the network traffic is using the Ethernet port.

Yes. There might be some subtle considerations given that your two AirPort base stations are connected via Ethernet, although I'm sure there's more than one way to configure your equipment. There are people around with more experience with that sort of thing than I have who might be able to offer their advice.

Customer Relations doesn't call Back -- need help on getting a refund.

I’m looking to get a refund for a netbook that I purchased. Here’s my story.
I bought a Lenovo ideaPad S10-2 in September and in October I had to send it in for repair on a cracked screen (plastic casing). Lenovo warranty received it Oct 21, 09. Expected fixed date was November 7, then got pushed to the 13th then got pushed to the 20th ……….As you can see Lenovo has had the product longer than I have, at this point I don’t want it anymore (I wasn’t even offered a replacement) I just want my money back because they can’t tell me when it can be fixed and I’ve had a lot of phones calls to their tech support and I’m getting nowhere. They have escalated it to customer relations and they were suppose to get back to me 5-7 business days, it’s the 9th day and nobody has returned my calls. All I want is my money back.
If this is how Lenovo treats their customers, then I will have to inform our parent company to switch back to buying Dell products as their customer service is far superior.
Is thier anyone who can help on these forums?

It's the Voodoo driver that caused this kernel panic, but I would get rid of, or try to see if there's and update for, both. I have no idea what the HDA extensions are for... but they're crashing your system.

Desperately needs help burning DVD from iPhoto

I am using iPhoto 6.0.6. I desperately need help burning a DVD of a slide show that I created for my daughter's wedding.
I put several songs together by opening them and then combining them using QuickTime Pro. I imported the audio into iTunes and created a slide show using iPhoto. The slide show is perfect! The slides are finally in sink with the music just as I want them! But I don't know how to burn the slide show as a DVD.
I tried exporting the video from iPhoto to my computer, but at the end of the export, I get this message: please note that the music included in the slideshow can only be played on authorized machines. And when I try to play the video (after the export), most of the music on the video cannot be heard. When I try to authorize my machine, I am told that it's already authorized.
If someone would send detailed instructions on how to proceed, I would greatly appreciate it.

Is your problem the DRM audio tracks you purchased from iTunes store?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

When I open up photo booth, it just freezes and then lags. Need Help!!

Ever since I upgraded to Lion, my photobooth freezes upon opening. It's begining to really annoying. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

(1) First, restart your Mac and test again. If the problem remains:
• Use the  > Software Update... menu command to be sure
    your Apple software is up to date. Then test PB again.
    If your Mac still does not work correctly, continue.
• Use Disk Utility to repair permissions and then
   download and apply the 10.7.2 Combo Update:
     http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1459
• Repair permissions again immediately following the system restart
   that completes the Combo update.
Properly applying the Combo version of updates sometimes
corrects strange problems. If not, try (2) below.
(2) This takes longer, but it may be necessary to correct the problem.

• First try using Lion Recovery to repair your disk. Then test again.
• If repair does not correct the trouble, your initial Lion install may have
been faulty. You will need to reinstall Lion to correct a faulty installation.
When the reinstall is complete, if your  > About this Mac menu command
does not show version 10.7.2, Mac apply the Combo update again as above.
After you have reinstalled and updated Lion, do NOT reinstall any third party
software, at least until you have tested PB and have it working properly.
