IPhoto damaged after Lion upgrade

iPhoto app (iLive 11) now has the prohibited app icon and when opened says that iPhoto.app may be damaged or incomplete. A few other apps are the same way such as Mac The Ripper, IE, OmniPage etc. though I'm less concerned with those.
Any suggestions?

Yeah I ran software update until there were no more before upgrading to Lion. The other iLife apps seem to work.

  • IPhoto issues after Lion upgrade

I upgraded my iMac to OS X lion 10.7.4 and iPhoto '11 didn't work properly.  I deleted and reinstalled it from my iLife'11 disc but now get message that I must update iPhoto.  Update says I'm up to date.  Any suggestions?

    Go to

Find and download the 9.1 updater. Run it. Then Run Software update again.

  • Preview issue. Send to iPhoto option is grayed out after Lion upgrade

Preview issue. Send to iPhoto option is greyed out after Lion upgrade.
In Snow Leopard it was an option to send pics from Preview to iPhoto, but now it is greyed out if I right-click on the pic. I have searced and tried everything, but I cannot fix it, so does anyone have a fix for it? Please :-)

I can offer no help but would also like to see this issue resolved.  Firstly, it would be useful to know if this problem is seen by everyone.  When viewing photos in Preview, with thumbnails in the sidebar, right-clicking on any of the thumbnails results in this:
Prior to the upgrade to Lion, "Send to iPhoto" was not greyed out and worked as expected.

Time capsule no longer will back up after lion upgrade is anyone else having this problem?

The Time Machine application is part of the Lion operating system, so you will likely get a faster and more informed response if you post in the Lion support area for Time Machine. There are a number of posts there with issues similar to yours.

Click on the Refine This List button under the Lion and then click on Time Machine to get to the support area.

  • Safari Crashes on Opening after Lion upgrade!

I just upgraded to Lion, and I try to open Safari, but it crashes before it loads my homepage!
I had recently set my default browser to Chrome in Snow Leopard the other day pre-upgrade, could that have something to do with it?

I'm using SL and found the perfect solution. 1) Follow oh_okay 's instructions, 2) download and reinstall Lastpass, 3) Restart Safari 5.1 and all should work fine. With this lastest update to Safari Lastpass functions a bit differently, having it's own tool bar with the option to hide. You have to click on the grey star, which stays grey, when logged in. There may be a tweek for that, which I haven't gotten to yet.

I've actually just found a solution.
As it turns out, LastPass was causing my crashes, too.
I had to find my SIMBL folder (~Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins/LastPass.bundle) and remove the LastPass plugin.
After that, all was well. Not sure if I need to reinstall LastPass now or just pay for (what I've heard is the far superior) 1Password.

  • Time Machine lost all backups after Lion upgrade

After Lion upgrade TM asked me to perform a 13 hours backup; I've agreed but now the oldest backup is 3 days ago. What is happened?
    Please can somebody help me?
    Thanks

I can't help here, but before I upgraded my old G5 (OS 10.5.8) TM popped up a message saying that old files had just been deleted. That was what TM does when its HD is getting full. But this was strange because I knew that I had lots of TM space, and since the last use of the conputer (about 2 hours before) I certainly had not saved to the internal HD several GB of files. To my astonishment, all but the last 4 weeks of files had been deleted, back to Jan 2010! GetInfo said that the space left was about the same as before the incident, whereas it should have shown a huge amount of free space.
I deleted all the remaining backup files and started again. It shook my confidence in TM's ability ot provide a reliable backup system. Now I regard it as a useful source of recovering old versions of files (eg., text, images etc.), rather than as a means to restore the system hard drive. Fortunately, I have been using Carbon Copy Cloner for years to make bootable backups of the whole system HD which can then be used, by simply cloning back to the system HD, to get back to work using the state of the HD when I last cloned. Alternately, the clone on the backup disc can be simply examined in the Finder to recover individual files.

  • I DVD Soft Frame template issue after Lion upgrade.

Hello, I've just updated my os to Lion but the Soft Frame template in iDVD, (7.1.2) is no longer working correctly. The light coloured background which covers the right hand side of the frame is missing and has been replaced with black. This issue effects sub menus as well. Existiting and new projects using Soft Frame suffer from this problem... Any ideas would be gratefully received! I have tried re installing iDVD but this had no effect.

OK I fixed it, sort of. The .tif file which provides the background image had disappeared. Even deleting IDVD and its themes and re-installing didn't work. So here's what I did:
    1) Make a new background. This can be any graduated colour field which you can make on any paint programme such as GIMP. However I grabbed the background from the `Forever' theme which is beige and adjusted the hue to turn it from brown to the blue which was close to the old 'Soft Frame' backing.
Here's how to find the 'Forever' background:
Go to your hard disk and look for Library/Application Support/iDVD/Themes/iDVD7/Forever-Main.theme
CTRL click on it and select `Show Package Contents'
Expand the contents folder and then the resources folder and look for the .tif file marked Forever-Background.tif
Drag this into your photo editing programme and change the colour to what you want.
Save the new file as tpt.tif on your desktop (there is a reason for this filename)
    2) Replace the defective backgounds in the `Soft Frame' themes
Go to your hard disk and look for Library/Application Support/iDVD/Themes/iDVD7/Softframe-Chapters.theme
CTRL click on it and select `Show Package Contents'
Expand the contents folder then the resources folder and look for the file marked tpt.tif and delete it
Drag the tpt.tif file you saved to your desktop into the Resources folder
Now do the same thing in Library/Application Support/iDVD/Themes/iDVD7/Softframe-Extras.theme
And do the same thing in Library/Application Support/iDVD/Themes/iDVD7/Softframe-Main.theme
Next time you launch iDVD it will pick up the new backgrounds.
It took me about 10 minutes.
Now I've found where the backgrounds are stored (if you select Project...project info in the iDVD menu the media pane lists the full path) I realise it is easy to put your own backgrounds into any of the existing projects.
    I hope this helps.

For the rare few, such as myself, who have some Office 2004 or older documents that fail to translate well in Office 2011, another option is to run Office 2004 in Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) installed in Parallels:

  • Garbled Audio After Lion Upgrade

I've scanned the forums, but the only audio bug I can find seems related, but not identical to mine.  I just installed OS X Lion on my Mac Pro (2x2.66 GHz Dual-Score Zeon with 4GB Ram).  Now all of a suddenly all my audio sounds garbled, almost inverted.  Some musical elements are strong, but human voice is indecipherable.  This is completely strange.
I've tried messing with preferences, and the Audio MIDI Setup like some others have suggested, but to no avail.
    Help!
    Sno

I also have popping/clicking in many forms of sound/video after Lion upgrade.  iMac 2.66GHz Core 2 duo, 6g ram
Putting the computer to sleep and waking it works for a time, but it eventually returns.
A quicker fix which likely does the same thing is to send a kill -9 signal in Terminal.app to the "coreaudiod" process and force it to restart.

after lion upgrade, i need to upgrade to Office 2011 or iWork (Pages)..my desktop is from 2007. which should i try?

You are on Windows 2000, you do not have a "Firefox" button, and should consider yourself to be fortunate in that you still have menus and don't have to do anything to get the menus back instead of the "Firefox" button. (The same applies to Windows XP users).
Use the "File" menu to get to Import. You are not on Windows 7 or Vista, and don't have to put up with the nonsense added for Aero.
If you want the "Firefox" button you can get it with View -> toolbars -> (uncheck) Menu Bar. The menu bar and the "Firefox" button were supposed to be mutually exclusive (which is impossible in some cases without being incompatible).
Once you are using the "Firefox" button ...
Use the "Alt" key to view the menu bar (temporarily) containing File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, and Help. On Windows 7 and Vista, the menu bar was hidden by default in Firefox 4 and above. These menu items are more or less available under the "Firefox" button which has the most used of the built-in Firefox menu items available in a different format.
To get back to having menus again. "Firefox" button -> Options (second column) -> (check) Menu Bar
You can make '''Firefox 7.0.1''' look like Firefox 3.6.*, see numbered '''items 1-10''' in the following topic [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4interface Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 4.0 thru 8.0, look like 3.6)]. • Timestamp became incorrect after Lion upgrade

    What goes wrong:
It seems the timestamp became incorrect after Lion upgrade.
Timemachine backups are date 26th of Januari 2011, while it is November 3rd.
Same goes for folders, files etc.
    System specs:
    MacPro 4-core
    HDD's: 1TB WD Caviar blacks.
Upgrade of WD installed after LION release.
    Any suggestion?

    1) Make sure the system Date & Time is correct, and the location/Time Zone is correct
System Preferences > Date & Time
That will probably not be the problem, but you need to make sure there are no issues there.
    2) Next, open
System Preferences > Languages and Texts > Format pane ...
and reselect a standard Date and Time FORMAT.

  • IMac freezes after lion upgrade

Upgraded imac from SL to lion, and now the computer freezes when waking from sleep or switching accounts. I have no issues during the process of using the computer. I have installed new RAM (4gigs), reinstalled the OS, erased the HD (securely) and rebuilt from back-up, pram, disk utilities, disk warrior. Read in one post that this may be the logic board and that Apple may be replacing these in certain modles. I never had the computer freeze when I was running SL, and I am a school IT guy with over 100 macs running SL and this does not happen at school. I have heard from others of the same thing once they go to Lion but the Apple Store says they have not heard of it!  Do not see how this could be a hardware thing since it looks to happen after Lion upgrade.
    Any ideas

I did do the above as I read that may work too, I also made it so the HD never sleeps.  Did not help for me, computer still freezes when switching accounts, not all the time, on average every other day I need to do a hard restart.
    Still looking for the answer

  • After Lion upgrade, MacBookPro has trouble wake from sleep.

After Lion upgrade, my Macbook Pro now sometimes will not wake from sleep.  If I close the lid the pulsating light pulsates. Open the lid and the pulsating light goes out and the keyboard backlight activate, screen blank and no keyboard response.

I've been looking for answers, since upgrading to lion, my problem is more of a nusance, when I close the lid on my macbook pro (15" 2.66 i7, 8GB RAM) and it goes into sleep mode, when I reopen the screen the screen backlight comes up momentarily, then goes black (screen image there, just no backlighting) nothing gets it to come out (reclose/open, clicking trackpad, any keys, etc.) except the F1 key.  Pushing the F1 "wakes" the backlighting, then I just hit the F2 to brighten it back up, I don't have any further issues until I close it again.  Granted not that big of a deal given all the issues everyone else is having with this, but still a nusance I would like to fix.  Don't know if this will work for you, but it's been working for me.
I have the same problem with my MBP 17"
Would have been nice if Apple had taken the time to respond.

  • After Lion upgrade all iPhoto menus greyed out

I have a problem with iPhoto after a Lion upgrade. I haven't run it since I did the upgrade but with iCloud etc I wanted to ... but when I run it I just get the menu bar with no app screen, all the menus are greyed out. The version is 9.2
The iPhoto prefs pane works but the accounts tab hangs and requires a force quit.
I tried sending the app to the trash and re-installing it but I can't figure out how to re-install the apps from my original macBook Pro OS/X disk (which is SL) because it only gives me the option to re-install the OS (and it won't replace Lion with SL anyway) (nor do I want it to) or to do the optional installs like the dev stuff.
Has anyone else seen this a know of a fix??
    Thanks, RJ

It helped to do this command:
    +sudo rm -rf /var/db/RemoteManagement+
    Found here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2577
This let us type in the serial number again when starting up the ”Remote Desktop.app” and all seems fine.

You need to reinstall as iPhoto is missing background frameworks required to work.
    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.
