  • IPhoto deletes pictures when shared

Not that Apple will do anything about this problem that has been going on since iPhoto got the major update, but in shared mode, we imported loads of photos of our beautiful 20 month old son and newborn daughter. And now they are permanently gone. Vanished!!! Keeps happening. And of course they were deleted from phone. So, moral of the story, is; the only way to import is in the ORIGINAL user mode (which screws up other user iPhone syncs) and then they appear in other users. If imported in secondary users, ALL PICTURES ARE LOST. Apple..... maybe fix this???
Can someone please help me if they know how to retrieve lost pictures?
    Thank you.

Note that NO one else has reported this so it is highly likely that you have a problem rather than iPhoto having a bug
Also this is not a way to reach Apple - it is strictly a user to user forum
And personal e-mails are not permitted in it per the TOU
And it is strongly recommended that you never have iPhoto or any other program delete your photos - it is far better to import the photos and then delete them yourself later (I prefer to wait for one backup cycle at least)
Any more details on your problem so someone might be able to help

  • IPhoto deleting pictures

Hi there- I got a new MacBook just under a year ago, and I was recently scrolling through my pictures, when I noticed they stopped about 2 years ago.
I KNOW that when I got the Air, the Genius Bar employees imported all my information over, which includes pictures from up to 7 years ago. Where do I find those pictures? No, I haven't backed it up, which I definitely regret. Can anyone help?

If you previously had an older iPhoto version, iPhoto 7.1.2 or earlier, iPhoto may have created a new iPhoto library because it could not open the old iPhoto library. Search your computer for a second iPhoto library in your Pictures folder.
Try to search for a file called "Library6.iPhoto". This file is part of any iPhoto Library. To search your entire mac download Find Any File ,
and search as described here in Old Toad's post:

So you want to move the iPhoto Library?
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

  • Deleting pictures from iPhone/iPhoto

I'd like to permanently delete pictures from my iPhone and iPhoto with one operation. Is there any way to do that?
    Thanks

You can do it through the folder option with the device paired to iTunes. Otherwise you can select them to delete off the device by going to the album, hitting the box with the arrow coming out of it. Checking each one you don't want and after selecting them all hitting the delete.

Wtih iPhoto 9 when the iPhoto Trash is emptied the files get moved to the Trash bin in the Dock as a second chance to change your mind.  Look in the Dock's Trash bin.

  • How to delete pictures with iPhoto off your camera roll?

I bought iphoto to help me organize pictures on my Ipad and Iphone.  I especially like the idea of being able to compair two or more similar pictures and save the best photo and delete the copies that weren't as good.  I liked this feature but then discovered that it was not deleting the pictures off the camera roll.
I would love someone to tell me how to delete pictures in iphoto so they are removed from my Camera Roll at the same time.  Being able to look at two pictures at the same time and decide which one you want to keep is great, but if I can't delete the one I don't want it is a waste of time.

    Titan2,
Thanks for the reply,  I agree that the Iphoto needs to be the stock app.  Hope it isn't too long.
    Ralph,
I agree that the iphoto for the ipad might not be the best place to organize, but when you are retired and traveling you would like to select the pictures you want to keep and not wait until you get home.  The camera roll doesn't let you compair two or more photos to see which one is best,  Iphoto does but I want the poorer photos off the ipad so I don't have to wait until I get home and I want to use the memory for the best photos.   I'm trying to figure out a round about way so I know which ones to delete on the camera roll.
I thank both of you for your comments.

  • How can i delete pictures from my iPad using iPhoto?

I would like to use iPhoto to delete pictures from my iPad and iPhone but I can't seem to do that.  I don't want to go through and mark each individual picture on the device itself to delete them.

You can only do this when importing. You could try using Image Capture (in the Applications Folder) for the job.

How To Delete Photos from iPhone
OK, so I finally figured out a way to delete / remove pictures from your iPhone (on a Mac) regardless of whether or not they have been imported into iPhoto.
It seems that iPhoto '08 (7.1.1) cannot do it —this is a weakness of iPhoto. Use IMAGE CAPTURE application, not iPhoto.
Quit iPhoto. Open Image Capture and choose the "Download Some..." option. You will then see all of your pictures stored in the Camera Roll on the iPhone. Select one or a range or even all of the photos you wish to remove, and choose Edit -> Delete. The selected photo(s) will be removed from the iPhone.
Nerds Only: If you want to see something fun, with your iPhone plugged into your Mac, go look at the Camera Roll of pictures on the phone itself. Use the thumbnail index view. Then, when you use Image Capture.app to delete the pictures, you see them disappear one by one very quickly from the iPhone screen. Cool.

  • Uploaded pictures to iphoto, deleted them from camera, iphoto quits, lost photos

I uploaded photos to my iphoto, and deleted the photos from the memory card. Right after I chose delete, my iphoto quit randomly and now all my photos say they did not upload. I am very frustrated.

Before you use the camera again you probably can recover the photos using a program like media recovery - http://freshcrop.com/
It is best to never have any program including iPhoto delete your photos but to import them and later (I like to wait for at least one backup cycle) use the camera's format command to reformat the card and delete the photos
Using a USB card reader is also a good idea
