Iphoto did not upgrade or open

After I installed Leopard, the iphoto begins to boot, but then crashes. It seems that it did not upgrade the old iphoto. Isn't iphoto included in 10.5 ? Can any body help? i still have the original iphoto (filled with pictures) that came with this computer which had MacOs 10.28. I cannot get it to open.
Thanks

I have the same issue, iPhoto launches, but then does not respond. I have iPhoto version 4.0.3
I also had some issues with Dashboard not working (I upgraded from 10.3.9) except for one lone widget. I did a reinstall (Archive and install) and that fixed some issues, but iPhoto still does not work.
One other thing, I have multiple users on the computer, and mine (Admin) launches with Mail showing, even with the Hide option checked. My wife's launches with Mail hidden (also checked). Have tried changing settings, removing from the launch list, rebooting, then adding it again, no change.
Any suggestions?

    Well I'll guess you're using iPhoto 11:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Upgraded second computer - did NOT upgrade iPhoto to iPhoto11

Purchased Mountain Lion, loaded successfully on iMac and it upgraded the iLife products to iPhoto 11, iMovie 11 and GarageBand 11. Since we could put it on up to three computers, I downloaded and installed on my wife's iMac as well. Worked fine - except it did NOT upgrade iLife products from iPhoto 9 to iPhoto 11. Now it's telling me we have to purchase iLife in order to upgrade. Why didn't it upgrade the second computer?

The iLife apps are not part of the Operating System, so I'm not sure what happened on your first machine but purchasing Mountain Lon did not upgrade your iLife apps.
Are you sure  you're not confusing Marketing Names and version numbers?
did NOT upgrade iLife products from iPhoto 9 to iPhoto 11
    iPhoto 9 is iPhoto 11
Marketing names and version numbers are confusing.
The marketing name iPhoto 6 corresponded to the version 6
The marketing name iPhoto 08 corresponded to the version 7
The marketing name iPhoto 09 corresponded to the version 8
The marketing name iPhoto 11 corresponded to the version 9
Not that this is confusing or anything.

  • I install my ox s lion but my iPhoto did not install

I install my ox s lion but my iPhoto did not install

DId you upgrade a Snow Leopard system with Lion or did you erase the hard drive and just install Lion? If the latter, Lion, by itself, does not include the iLife programs. You'll either need to reinstall them from your Snow Leopard DVD or iLife DVD or buy iLife or iPhoto from the App store. Or did you buy iPhoto from the App store?

I upgraded to 10.6.8 and my imagecapture did not upgrade. Why? Do I have to buy a new verson? Where is the new version located?
Thanks.  I cannot access the imagecapture from my builtin camera now.  I have a MacBook-5 years old.  Thanks.

OK. Here.  This message is on the front-"NO camera or scanner connected."  But when I wanted a picture in Facebook to use the camera the camera turned on and worked a-ok. Why?
I can't click on 'devices' or 'shared' because they are not live.
    So what's going on?
    Thanks.

  • I purchased a new MacBook Pro and when transferring files iphoto did not transfer.  I have a question mark in the place of the icon.  My pictures are in library but can't properly access iphoto.  Thank you

I purchased a new MacBook Pro and when transferring files iphoto did not transfer.  I have a question mark in the place of the icon.  My pictures are in library but can't properly access iphoto.  Thank you

Sure-glad to help you. You will not lose any data by changing synching to MacBook Pro from imac. You have set up Time Machine, right? that's how you'd do your backup, so I was told, and how I do my backup on my mac.  You should be able to set a password for it. Save it.  Your stuff should be saved there. So if you want to make your MacBook Pro your primary computer,  I suppose,  back up your stuff with Time machine, turn off Time machine on the iMac, turn it on on the new MacBook Pro, select the hard drive in your Time Capsule, enter your password, and do a backup from there. It might work, and it might take a while, but it should go. As for clogging the hard drive, I can't say. Depends how much stuff you have, and the hard drive's capacity.  As for moving syncing from your iMac to your macbook pro, should be the same. Your phone uses iTunes to sync and so that data should be in the cloud. You can move your iTunes Library to your new Macbook pro
you should be able to sync your phone on your new MacBook Pro. Don't know if you can move the older backups yet-maybe try someone else, anyways,
This handy article from Apple explains how
How to move your iTunes library to a new computer - Apple Support''
don't forget to de-authorize your iMac if you don't want to play purchased stuff there
and re-authorize your new macBook Pro
time machine is an application, and should be found in the Applications folder. it is built in to OS X, so there is nothing else to buy. double click on it, get it going, choose the Hard drive in your Time capsule/Airport as your backup Time Machine  and go for it.  You should see a circle with an arrow on the top right hand of your screen (the Desktop), next to the bluetooth icon, and just after the wifi and eject key (looks sorta like a clock face). This will do automatic backups  of your stuff.

  • Setting geotag in iPhoto did not carry over to Flickr

I've had a couple problems with the geotagging. The first is that I used a third party application to set geotags into my photos. The application accessed my photos in iPhoto. After completing that iPhoto did not recognize the geotag. So I used iPhoto to set my geotags. This was successful and I was able to see my pins on the map. I then copied the photos to Flickr using iPhoto. The geotags did not travel with the pictures. Has anyone had success moving pictures to Flickr with geotags?
    Rob

There is an option in the preference to enable sharing of the geotagging.

  • Photoshop did not upgrade to Extended after install?

I had cs6 creative suite standard and upgrade to Cs6 creative suite design and web premium, and it did not upgrade my Photoshop to the extended version (which is the whole reason i bought it) Heeeelp?

Deactivate the suite under Help --> Deactivate and let it reactivate. Also you may need to clear out your cache.db for the activation system (C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe PCD\cache on Windows). Other users have reported this problem. And of course make sure your system actually supports all Extended features so they are accessible, meaning your graphics hardware and configuration must be up to speed to use 3D and otehr features...

  • Upgrade from SQL 2K8 R2 to SQL 2K12 did not upgrade SSRS

I upgraded a SQL 2K8 R2 SP2 SQL Server which also had an instance of SSRS on it. Everything went fine with the database engine upgrade, however SSRS did not get upgraded.  Upgrade advisor did not report any issues which would have blocked installation.
If I try to run the upgrade wizard again, it does not show SSRS as something that can be upgraded. Any thoughts or ideas on how I should proceed?

    Hi KHLLC,
Are you sure RS did not upgrade? If in Native mode, you can check the versions of the binaries in the program files folder ..\Reporting Services\ReportServer\bin to see if any of the binaries were upgraded to the SP2 versions.
If you are in SharePoint mode, you also need to run the RS SharePoint add-in for SP2. This link might help.

  • Quick Time 7 did not upgrade to Pro after entering registration

Quick Time 7 did not upgrade to Quick Time Pro after entering in registration code.

Yes, the word Pro was removed. Being new to Quick Time I was expecting the app itself to be renamed Quick Time Pro. Looking at the menus late last night I figured out that pro features are all already in Quick Time just deactivated.  Thanks for your response.

  • My iphoto did not separate 7 days of our trip in several locations.  How can this be solved?

My iphoto did not separate 7 days of our trip in which I took some 340 pictures that are all on the same Event.  How do I get them separated by days & dates so that I can identify them?  These were all taken in Scotland & England!

    Hi lewisbr,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  This article has some information on how to separate imported events by day that may help:
iPhoto 9.5: Merge or split events
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH15131
    Autosplit an event
You can split one or more events into smaller events based on the date or time the photos were taken.
For example, if you have an event that includes photos taken during an entire day, such as at a birthday brunch and an evening barbecue, you can have iPhoto split that larger grouping into smaller events that cover a shorter time period.
Set the event time frame in iPhoto preferences.Photos imported from now on will use this time frame until you change it.
To split an event that’s already in your photo library, select the event and choose Events > Autosplit Selected Events. The event you selected is split into smaller events based on the new time frame you set in step 1, but the other events in your library are unaffected unless you repeat step 2 for them.
Tip:   You can also select more than one event to autosplit. Drag your pointer to enclose two or more events that are next to one another. To select events that aren’t adjacent, click the first event to select it, and then hold down the Command key as you click additional events.
    Cheers,

  • Iphoto is not upgrading

Ever since I updated my Macbook Pro to Yosemite, my Iphoto will not upgrade. There is a sign across my iphoto and then it tells me to upgrade. When I go on appstore and try to update it, it won't update. It's been 3 weeks and I haven't found any way for it to update. How can I fix this? Yosemite is extremely annoying me now! I can't update my iphoto nor my imovie. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Move the current iPhoto application to the Trash bin. Go to the App Store and try downloading iPhoto 9.6 again.
What version of iPhoto were you using prior to upgrading to Yosemite?

  • IPhoto did not migrate photos to new computer

    Actually 2 questions. Some background.
Old computer: iMac late 2006 running 10.6.8, iPhoto 8.1.2
New computer iMac late 2013 running Mavericks iPhoto 8.1.2
During set up of new computer had a power interruption and did a recovery.  Instead of Mavericks the
recovery was  Mountain Lion and I had to upgrade to Mavericks. The Mavericks upgrade did not include iLife updates.
So, back to the original question.  When using Migration the photos on the old iMac did NOT transfer to the new iMac. How can I transfer the library?  There are too many photos for a dvd.
And finally, The latest version of iLife did not D/L with the Mavericks upgrade and they would like me to pay for it even though it was on the new iMac originally.
    Any way around this obstacle?
    David Hill

The Mavericks upgrade did not include iLife updates.
That is normal.  The iLife applications come with a new computer or have to be purchased. They are not standard applications of a system upgrade.  With Mavericks you need to purchase an upgrade to iPhoto 9.5.1. if your new computer did not come with iPhoto '11 installed.
When using Migration the photos on the old iMac did NOT transfer to the new iMac. How can I transfer the library?
Which options did you use to migrate?  By default the setup assistant or Migration Assistant will transfer your complete Home folder, if you do not deselect it. Or is your if Library not in the default location in the Pictures folder?
You could copy the iPhoto library to an external drive and transfer it this way or connect the two macs in Target Mode:  See: Transfer files between two computers using target disk mode
The latest version of iLife did not D/L with the Mavericks upgrade and they would like me to pay for it even though it was on the new iMac originally.
If iLife was installed on your new Mac, look at the "Purchased" tab at the App Store. You may need to "accept" the iLife applications to your Apple ID. See this document:
Accept iLife: OS X: About OS X Recovery
