IPhoto does not load after using camera

Hi,
I tried to downloan pics from a Sony camera, and since then I can't use iPhoto. It opens but then I get this message 'loading photos' that stays up forever and in the end nothing happens. I don't want to use the camera anymore, I just want to see my old pics.
Any suggestion?
Thanks!
david

Hi, marranod,
Welcome to the discussions!
Let me see if I understand your question. You connected a Sony to download photos. Did you get the photos into your iPhoto?
Some Sonys create a camera/disk icon on the desktop that needs to be ejected (dragged to the trash) BEFORE you disconnect the camera....I have done this, and it seems to be ok, but you may receive the message that you did not remove the device properly and may have damaged it.
Am I correct that you had other photos in iPhoto, and that now you cannot get iPhoto to load any of your photos?
Try this: close iPhoto, go to User->Library->Preferences->com.apple.iPhoto.plist and drag that plist into the trash.
Repair permissions using Disk Utility.
Relaunch iPhoto and see if it opens now.
Post back if these suggestions didn't work.
Also, next time you download from a camera, use Image Capture ( in your applications folder) to get the photos into your computer, and then import them into iPhoto.

  • Site does not load after some minutes of creation or after restart the server

    Hello,
I have been asked to create a test enviroment identical to the production enviroment. So, what I did was:
Backed up the production web application's content database: Prod_WSS_ContentDB
Created new test servers (domain controller, sql server and sharepoint 2013 server) in a new, completely isolated, network environment, without any connection with the production environment (specifically Azure)
Created a new web application in test environment with a new content database.
Dismounted the new content database with powershell: Dismount-spcontentdatabase Test_WSS_Content
Copy the Prod_WSS_ContentDB database to the test sql server and restored it with Management Studio.
Mount the Prod_WSS_ContentDB databe to the web application with powershell:
    Mount-spcontentdatabse Prod_WSS_ContentDB -WebApplication http://testsp/
Then, when I type http://testsp in the browser it redirects me to http://testsp/SitePages/Home.aspx
and the site loads exactly as the production environment.
But, after some minutes, or if I restart the Sharepoint Server, when I navigate to
    http://sitesp I am redirected to http://testsp/SitePages/Home.aspx
as expected, but the site does not load, the browser just show a complety blank page.
The Central Administration site loads normally.
Trying to fix it I found that if I dismount the content database Prod_WSS_ContentDB, then mount the test database Test_WSS_Content,
then navigate to the site, dismount Test_WSS_Content and finally mount again Prod_WSS_ContentDB, the site loads normally, no blank page, but after some minutes or if I restart the same happens again.
For the error event I receice in event viewer it seems that the problem is related to database. I have not found a solution for this error... How can I solve  this?

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that Site does not load after some minutes of creation or after restart the server.
Please make sure you create a test environment for existing production site correctly.
Here are some great articles for your reference:

  • The webpage does not load after pressing enter or CTRL+ENTER. My OS is Windows 7 Ultimate

I have tried installing the older version Firefox 3.6. After entering the URL on address bar it does not load after pressing enter or CTRL+ENTER

This issue can be caused by an extension (AVG Safe Search can cause this) that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • Iphoto does not load, can anyone help?

My Iphoto does not load and I can not import any videos or pictures.

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 10 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • 10.2.8 Finder does not load after getting into OS X

I am pretty sure this happened to a lot of people, as I have read many many messages on this issue.
My computer is a Powerbook 867 with 128built in DDR and 512 added.
    40Gb internal HDD and a 40GB firewire 3G ipod (the old 3G).
    Here's the problem:
Last night just when I finishsed watching some divx on VLC running on 10.2.8, I quitted VLC using apple+Q, then closed the finder window i opened with apple+W. They both closed, but then the finder just did not respond (or have quitted). There isn't a little triangle below my finder icon on the dock. Everything else on the dock works perfectly fine. Desktop icons have disappeared.
Now I have restarted, nothing helps; went on apple discussion and found some "HELPFUL" solutions - deleting the finder preferences. First how was I suppose to delete it? ok... I installed a 10.2.3 on my ipod and boot it through there, also did a repair permission on my internal HDD. Finally deleted the com.apple.finder.plist.. So I booted up using my internal again. But still... finder DOES NOT LOAD after I got into my OS X.
Please if anyone can give me a solution to this problem!
P.S. the finder on my ipod is working fine. AND I do not want to reinstall OS X on my interal because I only did it last week after it went to service after a HDD fail (it has been replaced).

    Check System Preferences - Accounts
Choose you account - login items: If iTunesHelper
shows up - remove it it will prevent re-installation.
It did not have iTunes in the list, just mail and iCal alarm. Deadlines and emails are vital in my home office.
Now that I think about it, adding Mail to the list was the only thing that I had changed to the computer when this happened, but I can't imagine how that would alter permission to install on the OS.

  • Reloaded snow leopard, iphoto does not load

just reloaded snow leopard and my iphoto does not load up, get error message to perhaps reload iphoto ?????

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Are you sure the version of iPhoto you have is Snow Leopard compatible?

  • Iphoto does not load into iDVD- too many photos?

Recently upgraded to Leopard 10.5.6 and iLife '09. Ever since, iPhoto will not load into iDVD (iphoto 8.0 and iDVD 7.0.3). When trying to open current and new projects in iDVD, the project opens, and plays, but the photos from iPhoto never load, the loading icon just spins on and on. When I open a new document, the same thing happens. Tried trashing preferences in both programs, reinstalling iLife, and reparing permissions. All software updates are current. Still won't work.
I am starting to wonder if it has to do with the number of photos I have in iPhoto, which is about 4000. The photos loaded with no problem until I upgraded. Could it be that the upgrades in iPhoto just make the files too large, and it's too much to expect that many photos to load? Does anyone know how many photos is too many,— or can you suggest anything I have not tired that might work?

This is from Mac Help. It is a good idea to create another account to use in troubleshooting situations such as this. After you create the new account, open iDVD from that account. Try creating a small project to see if you are having the same problems. Post back with your results.
_Adding a new user account to your computer_
You can create individual user accounts for each person who uses your computer. Each new user has a separate home folder and can adjust his or her own preferences without affecting other users.
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences and click Accounts.
If some settings are dimmed, click the lock icon and type an administrator name and password.
Click Add and type the user's name.
If you don't want to use the short name generated automatically, type a new short name. (Once the account is created, you won't be able to change the short name.)
Type the user's password in the Password and Verify boxes.
Type a hint to help the user remember the password if they have trouble remembering it at login.
Click Parental Controls and select options to determine what the user can do with the computer.
If you change your mind while you're creating a new user account, click Delete to cancel.

  • Iphoto will not load after trying to move program from HD to ext. HD

Not knowing that Mac does not like to have Iphoto program moved from MacHD to an external to save space, I am now in a mess.  I have tried to use time machine to reload the program and the Library.  At first I got an old libary, now the program opens (kinda) but when the screen opens to ask where or what library I want to use, it locks up with no choices.
Like an earlier post I find that I should have saved all the photos as JPEGs in another folder, but didn't.  So, how do I get the program back on line and get my photos?

You should not (and have no need to) move the iPhoto application - the best way to get it back correctly is to reinstall it form the original media is was installed from
The iPhoto library is easy to move -
Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive

  • IPhoto Do Not Load after Downgrading Back to Tiger

Hi. I bought and installed Leopard on my computer, but mainly because of some stability and compatibility issues, I decided to downgrade back to Tiger for now. I used my MacBook Pro installation disk to reinstall Tiger, leaving all the system files intact, and so far, Tiger has been running with no problems. I did notice though that some applications, such as iPhoto and some other iLife '08 applications, do not load, but most of the third party applications so far, such as Parallels, were fixed by reinstalling it onto my HD.
On the other hand, I have tried to reinstall the iLife programs a couple of times, but my iPhoto application keeps on failing to open. Does anyone know anyway I can fix this program, or any suggestions/feedback on this matter at all?
    Thanks

First step is to use Disk Utility to Repair Permissions before and after any update, install, or upgrade, reboot after each Permissions Repair.
Might Verify the HD before fixing permissions also.

  • Keyboard does not work after using Support Drivers

I have a Macbook Pro 4,1 15" 2.4GHz C2D, and managed to get Bootcamp installed on it with Win7 Home Pro. I have verified that it runs correctly, but it is missing many of the drivers needed to make things run smoothly. I no longer have my Leopard disks that the machine came, so I figured the WindowsSupportDrivers would be the way to go.
When I install them and reboot, the keyboard does not work. When I hit capslock, I get the caution notice indicating underneath my password field indicating the capslock key is on, so it's not like my entire keyboard is disabled. The system is unusable right now, since I have to enter my password to login, and it does not take any keyboard input. Using an external keyboard did not resolve this issue.
I did a system restore to get it back to a usable state for the time being.
Is there an alternative to the BCA support drivers or the Leopard disk? What's going on with my keyboard after the driver update?

Maybe you have installed obsolete drivers. If you have Lion, open Boot Camp Assistant (Applications > Utilities) in OS X and download Boot Camp drivers

  • IPhoto does not ask to use Photo, Can't import

I option created a new library and location for Photos on an external drive from my Aperture library. Most of the photos/projects and folders are not visible. It will also not let me import from my iPhoto library now that the new Photos library is created. They are greyed out. How do you get Photo to recognize previous libraries?
FROM THE HELP FILE, THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN ON MY COMPUTER:
iPhoto — and Aperture, if you downloaded it — remains on your system in the Applications folder, and you can continue to use it. If you open iPhoto or Aperture after you upgrade to Photos, you’ll be asked if you want to open your library there or in Photos.

but it iPhoto is not asking if I want to use Photo instead, which according to the info it was supposed to.  I was hoping Photo would consolidate all my photography... Now it seems it is just another duplicate set of libraries.

  • IPhoto 5 not open after "using" iPhoto 6

    Hi
We have two Laptops at home, one iBook G4 (OS X 10.3.9 & iPhoto 5.0.4 (263)) and one MacBook (OS X 10.4.10 & iPhoto 6.0.6 (322)). After copying the library (via ehternet) from the iBook to the MacBook we have a problem: On the MacBook - after automatic actualising of the library - everthing is o.k. and all pic's an keywords are there. But starting iPhoto on the iBook produced a messege, that the library can't be open with iPhoto 5 because it was opend by a newer version of iPhoto (what we didn't do to our knowledge) and now this newer version should be used (which does not exist on the iBook). Something must have gone wrong while copying the library. Can we change back the library on the iBook to iPhoto 5-standards or is an upgragde of iPhoto on the iBook the only solution?
Any help is very welcome. Thanks.
PS: hope my english ist understandable

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Make sure the two Macs are disconnected, then, go to the Pictures Folder on the iBook. There you will find the iPhoto Library Folder. Have a look inside - but don't change anything! Is there a file there called
    library6.iphoto
If so, then indeed that Library has been updated and the only solution is to upgrade the iPhoto on the iBook.
However, if there is inly a file called
    library.iphoto
then double click on it and see if the Library will open.

  • QuickTime Content Does Not Load When Using Safari

For the past week or so, I've noticed that when using Safari, any QuickTime content fails to display, but instead, the QuickTime logo is displayed with a question mark in the center. That would indicate to me that Safari is not seeing that QuickTime is installed, but of course, it is. I tried actually reinstalling QuickTime, but that did not resolve the issue.
Again, this has only started in the last week or so. I'm new to the MAC world, so my troubleshooting skills are more limited with OSX. I also have Firefox installed, and QuickTime content opens as normal when using Firefox.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
iMac (Intel)   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

I have had the same problem for some time now. As well as this problem, some QT movies load into QT but the sound does not play.
This all started when I loaded various other players such as VLC to run Windows Media Player stuff before Flip 4 Mac became universal. I have tried dumping prefs, turning off plug ins and a dozen other things between QT and Safari, including resetting Safarai and losing all my log ins etc.
Nothing runs on say www.youtube.com We just get the big Q with a question mark over it. The keynote address released yesterday does not play with sound.
I suggest we all look back and list what we did/installed just before the problem started and then we can compare and look for a common element.
As to checking "block pop ups" I never had that on to begin with.
We need to see if the problem is in Safari or Quicktime - or both. There are too many variables at the moment to narrow down the problem.
Our other iMac which is identical does NOT have the problem - because I didn't try to load any other software on to it.

    Hello Salmonela,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
That is a very well done post, very informative. Regarding the software interface not loading, I would like to suggest a means of uninstall and install that you may not have tried.
I would like you to use the Microsoft Fixit to uninstall. Then use the HP Printer Install Wizard to install the software again.
Let me know if this clears things up.
