IPhoto does not see Sony NEX-5........

.......on 27" iMac and MBP but DOES see it on 20" iMac when USB connected but all macs see the memory card in Finder Devices.
Any suggestions to help correct this would be appreciated.
Joe

OK....all seems to be working fine now. Started both macs giving the problem, in Safe Mode and then started both normally with the camera USB connected and in On position.
The camera can be be disconnected/re-connected and be fully recognisable in iPhoto - don't know why unless rebooting macs had some affect. Anyway, go figure!

  • IPhoto does not see the camera

iPhoto does not see the camera, although it worked really well for two years. Computer has been regularly updated. Please help, thank You.

Image Capture doesn't see the camera. I have tried with two different Sony cameras, that I have been using for a long time on this computer. It is iMac 27''. Both of these cameras work normaly in MacBook Air, that means that the problem is not in the camera, or the cards. Those are the things I have tried so far. Only difference I created on the computer is that I have, two or three days ago, installed external hard drive WD My Book Studio which is connected to the computer by FireWire 800.

  • IPhoto does not see my camera

iPhoto '09 did see my new Panasonic camera at first, and I could import the images and videos without any issues.
Now - a day later - there is some images and movies on my camera's SDHC card, and it does not see the camera at all. I do see the camera card in the finder. So the card is readable. It is just that all of sudden iPhoto does not see it anymore. I tried hence and forth restarting iPhoto and camera but no luck.
The only thing I did in between was loading of a bunch of images from my camera card (via Camera Connector Kit) to my iPad 3. And removing the images (the iPad 3 does not seem to recognize the videos - which is another issue...) via the Photo app on iPad. I then wanted to load the videos (and some new images I tookl direcfly to iPhoto on my iMac. But htat now does not seem to work.
    Any tips are much appreciated!

    Try these:
    1) Go to Disk Utilities and repair permission -- see if it works. If not go to #2
    2) If that doesn't work d/l a program call OnyX. Make sure you get the the specific version for the version of OS X you are running. Run the program and go to Maintenance and run all three options Permissions (reset home directory checked), Scripts (run all, but don't delete logs), and rebuild (check LaunchServices and dyld's shared cache). Then go to Cleaning. In System check Kernal and Extentions and Other components. In User make sure at least Applications and Temporary items are checked. You can check the others if you want - no harm will come, just more time. You will be asked to restart your computer each time, but ignore until you have reached this point. When you have done all of the above reboot
Test again. Your camera shoud show up.

If neither iPhoto not IC can seethe card it might suggest an issue with the card or the ports on the camera/mac.
Try reformat the card, change the ports and/or use a USB Card Reader.

  • After upgrading to Mavericks my iMac does not see Sony camcorder in iMovie anymore. It still works on MacBook, so nothing wrong with camera or connections.

After upgrading to Mavericks my iMac does not see my Sony camcorder anymore. I tried the new iMovie as well as the old version 9.0.9, which is still in Applications. I checked the camcorder and connections in iMovie on my MacBook (not upgraded) and that still functions properly, so the problem does not seem to be in iMovie, old or new, or in camcorder and connection.
Anybody with the same problem or a solution?

It depends on what Mac you have and what version of iMovie. You may need to use Firewire.

  • IPhoto does not see any changes after editing a photo in Camera Raw

    Hello everyone ,
I have some small problem with my iPhoto. I have set up Camer Raw in iPhoto as  External Editor, so when I click on edit in IPhoto,
automatically opens my JPG in Camera Raw. After editing in Camera Raw I'm clicking on ,,Save image" then destination is ,,Save in same location" When I go back to iPhoto to the same photo, iPhoto does not show any changes I have made in Camera Raw.
What could it be or should I set something in iPhoto or in Camera Raw?
Is there a chance in order to deal with this?
I will be grateful for any assistance and
    I'm waiting for advice
    Dawid

Any time a RAW file is edited in any 3rd party editor from within iPhoto it MUST be saved to the Desktop and imported as a new file. There's no other way to do it.  So the photos you've edited and saved are somewhere in the iPhoto Library folder system but cannot be recognized and used by iPhoto.
The following is geared for Photoshop and Photoshop Elements but might have some info relevant for you:
Using Photoshop CS3 or Photoshop Elements 9 as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's Advanced Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop.  When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that  PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file.  You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 9 the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
s  I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.  In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
NOTE: If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS/PSE without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in iPhoto".  That will let you either edit in iPhoto using the Edit button or Control-clicking on the thumbnail and selecting "Edit in iPhoto" or in PS/PSE by Control-clicking on the thumbnail and selecting "Edit in External Editor" in the Contextual menu.
This way you get the best of both worlds.

  • New Adobe update does not accept Sony NEX .MTS file format - help?!

I've seen some 'solutions' to this problem but none apply to me. I do not have older versions of Premiere to work with these files and then import into the new Adobe CC 2014. I also tried renaming the file folder with the video files but that does not work for me either - unless there is a step by step process someone can provide so I can see what I am doing wrong.
Main point is this should not happen in the first place - it has never been a problem with Adobe before.
.MTS is a very popular file format - many people use the fs100 and fs700, etc.
    ADOBE PLEASE FIX!

Another thing we need to know: how are you importing/ingesting the files?

  • IPhoto does not see my iPhone 3G (since 3.0) on G5 but does on MacBookPro

I have repaired permissions from start up disk, used Disk Warrior, rebuilt permissions within iPhoto.
My PPC G5 1.8 just will not see my iPhone 3G since I upgraded yesterday to 3.0. iTunes sees it fine.
My MacBook Pro iPhoto sees iPhone as normal. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks anyway.

  • Iphoto does not see camera

I recently ran updates on all iLife suite. When a camera is connected now iPhoto starts up but does not recognize that there are photos on the camera to be uploaded. To make matters worse I cannot find a way within the software to tell it to go look at the camera (import).
I've tried a couple different cameras (low and high end) and a couple different machines, same outcome.
    Will appreciate help,
    Chuck

It's 6.0.6. I mention the upgrades as we installed all all Apple software updates that were issued since last fall over the summer. We re-image the labs once a year, as as long as everything is running OK do not run updates during the school year.
I've been tinkering and the Adminstrative log in group sees the camera in iPhoto. It's the student groups that have trouble so it has something to do with privileges.
Perhaps I need to post in another forum to get help with that?

  • IPhoto does not see my iPhone 5s

    Hey gang-
I have a brand new iPhone 5S with lots of new pictures that I wanted to import into iPhoto.  But for some reason it is not recognized by iPhoto and does not appear when connected.  I'm connected directly via USB (not a hub) to my late-2013 iMac running the latest Mavericks.   I've rebooted both iPhone and Computer.
Note that my iPhone is recognized perfectly by iTunes.   I have the iPhoto prefs set to Open iPhoto on Connecting a Camera.   I also checked in Image Capture and it doesn't recognize my iPhone.   I also tried all steps in this Apple KB article:  http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3195?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
I've found some old posts here in the forums about this but nothing very recent.   What to try next?
    Thanks!
    Dave

    Hey gang-
Problem solved and replying to my own post in case this helps somebody!
In the many many threads describing this exact same problem, I came upon one that suggested deleting any photos in my iPhone Camera Roll that were not actually taken by my iPhone.   Primarily we're talking photos that were shared via email and saved to the Camera Roll.
Needless to say this was not a quick process given the 1,300 or so photos in my Camera Roll, but I did it and 'voila the iPhone is again recogized by iPhoto.
    Cheers!

  • IPhoto does not 'see' my SD cards.

I have two cameras and this problem is common to both.  The SD cards are visible on the desktop but not within iPhoto itself.  I have managed to import some photos by dragging the card icon into iPhoto.  But this has not given me the normal full functionality e.g. the option to exclude previously imported pics.   I am using iPhoto 9. v8.1.2
Any suggestons about correcting this would be very welcome.

I reformatted one card with one camera, left second card&camera as they were.  Repaired Permissions and rebooted. I also emptied iPhoto trash of over 500 pics. Now both cameras and cards are recognised by iPhoto and everything seems to be ok.
Pleased that some very important photos are now downloaded and backed up.  But I am a bit puzzled at this outcome.  I have the feeling the problem was with the iPhoto app.  Will keep fingers crossed that it does not happen again.
Many thanks for your prompt reply.

  • HT201302 i have thousands of pictures in my iPad that iPhoto does not see when the iPad is connected to my computer. Any idea how to import them to my iMac?

    Any idea how to import?

So you're trying to use your iPad as the way to bring photos from your old iMac to your new iMac?
Why not bring them to your new iMac from your old one, using Migration Assistant or similar?
The software probably expects you to have done that, and that's why you only received a selective group of photos from your iPad (only those associated with email).

  • Something went wrong with iPad photo/Video import and now iPhoto on Mac does not see content.

I just connected my iPad (4.3.2) to my mac (10.5). It launched the synch process for photos and videos and everything went fine. I then clicked on one of the newly imported photos in iPhoto and it choked and ultimately closed the app and gave me message along the lines of "iPhoto quit Unexpectedly." I rebooted the machine and when it came up went to look in iPhoto and saw that the new photos/video were not there. They are still on the iPad (Fortunately!) However when I reconnect the iPad to the Mac it does not see any content to import. In essence it seems to think it did the import and is not aware that it lost the content.
There's a couple possible solutions I'm interested in. One, are the photos/video somewhere on the Mac and just need to be dug up? I nosed around a bit but found nothing. Then other solution would be is there some way to force iPhoto to reimport what's on the iPad, ignoring that it feels it's already done this?
    Thanks,
    Wil

Where did these photos come from to begin with? Did you import them from the iPad into iPhoto on your Mac? Is that what you are saying here?
