IPhoto doesn't recognize Aperture 3-tagged Faces

Help - I just spent a week tagging faces and places in slides I scanned for someone. I export Versions, but when I import them into iPhoto ('09), it brings in the places but not the faces. Any ideas?

Make sure that Aperture is in your Applications folder (not a subfolder) and is simply named Aperture. Software update will not be able to see it if you moved or re-named it.

  • Help!  iPhoto doesn't recognize my camera anymore

My Pentax Optio S4 has worked great for the last couple of years - when I plugged in the USB cable, iPhoto opened and all went well. Now all of a sudden nothing happens, and iPhoto doesn't recognize the camera and neither does Image Capture. Did I inadvertantly DO something, or does anybody know what happened and how to get my seamless importing back?

Move the "com.apple.iPhoto.plist" and the "com.apple.ImageCaptureApp.plist" files from your user's "Library >Preferences" folder to the trash and reset the Image Capture preferences to recognize your camera.

  • IPhoto doesn't recognize my canon after update to Yosemite

iPhoto doesn't recognize my Canon any more after my update to Yosemite

Have you run Software Update since installing Snow Leopard?
If so and all available updates have been installed, try re-downloading the current iTunes version and re-install it over the existing. No need to delete iTunes first.

  • Iphoto doesn't recognize my Kodak Z730 any more after three years of up loading into it.

Iphoto doesn't recognize my Kodak Z730 Easyshare cameranow. Been using it for over three years and as of two months ago the Apple doesn't recognize the files. Camera works fine on my step mothers Apple just not on mine.  Anyone been through this already? I tried printing to a disk and loading that way. No luck. I think getting one of the auto updates from Apple may have screwed it up. Only thing I can think of. Has to be a way to fix it. ( I hope ! )

Update: I've tried deleting my Iphoto plist but it still doesn't help - any other suggestions?

  • IPhoto doesn't recognize .jpg files and can't open it. What may I do now?

iPhoto doesn't recognize .jpg files and can't open it. What may I do?

a common problem is that you don't have permission to upload those files, but it is an easy fix
    1) Finder
    2) Users(it should have the account name on it)
    3) pictures
    4) right click on iphoto library then click info
5 on the bottom of the new window there should be a sharing and permissions tab
    6) make sure you have permission to read & write
The only other problem I can think is that you are having problems with hard drive space. if so you might want to clean up your hard drive to free up some space. please let me know if that worked for you.

  • Iphoto doesn't recognize pics from ipod touch

iphoto doesn't recognize pics from ipod. It says they are an unrecognizable format.

I guess the engineers need work?

Have you been able to get the ISO on that camera before. Did you have the camera set to Auto?
All of my Canon cameras do not record the specific ISO even though a specific ISO is set. The only Canon file I have that gives an ISO in iPhoto is from a Canon EOS 30D. I have Konica files that provide ISO in iPhoto as does a Nikon D100. The Canon point and shot cameras, s10, s100, s110, s400, s410 and the SD700 IS do not record the specific ISO value. It just give Light Source-Auto when viewed in an application that can read all of the fields.

  • IPhoto doesn't show most of the Faces in the Confirm Additional Faces dialogue

The latest (2013) version of iPhoto is doing strange things when tagging Faces.
I have several dozen people identified in Faces but with the new version (on Mavericks), when I go to the Faces screen the pictures for each person have been replaced with black squares.
When I double-click to add more Faces tags, then click on the Confirm Additional Faces dialogue, most of the pictures that are proposed for tagging are also shown as black squares. A few of the images will actually show the faces that iPhoto has identified, but most of them are black squares and therefore rather impossible to tag!
Hopefully Apple will pick up on this bug and fix it ASAP. Thanks!

    Hi Dazza9999,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you're only seeing black squares in Faces after upgrading, I suggest using the Photo Library First Aid menu to repair or rebuild your iPhoto library.
Before troubleshooting, it is a very good idea to back up your iPhoto library.
    Important:
You should back up your existing iPhoto Library before using the rebuild feature. A backup allows you to restore the iPhoto Library if anything unexpected happens during the rebuild that prevents the library from rebuilding correctly.
Before performing a rebuild, you should install any iPhoto updates by using Software Update. If a software update resolves your issue, then you don't need to rebuild.
See this article for the steps to back up your computer with Time Machine:
Mac Basics: Time Machine backs up your Mac
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1427
Once your iPhoto library is backed up, follow these steps to use iPhoto Library First Aid:
    To rebuild the iPhoto library:
Quit iPhoto if it is open.
Hold down the Command and Option keys on the keyboard.
    Open iPhoto.
Keep the keys held down until you are prompted to rebuild the library.
A dialog will appear with rebuild options. Select the options you want to use.
Try each step in order, testing to see if the issue is resolved between each step.
See the full article for more details:

  • IPhoto doesn't recognize iPhoto library - HELP!

When I opened iPhoto today, there are "no photos" in the library, and when I open it holding the option key and try to select the iPhoto library (which does exist) it says it can't recognize those files. I can't get iPhoto to be the default application for jpeg files either - it says it doesn't recognize those either. I know the photos are there in the library but iPhoto won't open them - please help!

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Try these in order - from best option on down...
    1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
    2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
    3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Rolls and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Roll Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.
Further, iPhoto is a database not an image viewer and it cannot be be set as the default application to view files.

  • IPhoto doesn't recognize my 20D

IPhoto doesn't know my Canon 20D is connected to my Powerbook running on OSX 10.3.9 and iPhoto 4.0.3. The 20D connects properly with my iMac running OSX 10.4 so I don't think it is a camera problem. Any suggestions please!

Thanks John for the suggestion. Image Capture was not set up properly and now it is, but even after a restart neither iPhoto nor Image Capture recognize the camera. It does show up, however, in System Profile. Any other ideas.

  • When i synced with my ipad all my photos in iphoto on my macbook disappeared.  When I try to sync again, iphoto doesn't recognize the 1500 photos that are still on my ipad.  How do I get them back onto my macbook?

When I synced my iPad2 with my MacBook Pro, all my photos in iPhoto disappeared on my MacBook but remained on the iPad.  I want to get the back onto my MacBook, but when I connect the iPad, it doesn't recognize that the photos are there.

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • IPhoto doesn't recognize pictures on card / already imported pictures

    Hi all,
iPhoto '09 (latest version) on my wife's MBP (CoreDuo, early 2006, latest Snow Leopard) has always worked well for het (about 35,000 pix in the database). Last week, out of a sudden, it stopped recognizing new images when a card is plugged in (tested with two different SD cards from two different cameras). Manual importing works, but it won't recognize already imported images anymore, it just imports them again.
I already re-built iPhoto's database (by holding alt + cmd when starting up iPhoto), but it didn't change anything.
This is really strange - can anyone help us here?
    Thank you!
    Best regards,
    Thomas.

Well, I was too fast yesterday. Nothing is solved.
Today my wife said that when she plugged in the card from her new camera (8 GB), iPhoto starts up but then showed the spinning wheel for 10 minutes, no pictures are shows. Then she got impatient and imported manually again.
I tested again tonight with the 8 GB SDHC card - all tests yesterday were done with a 2 GB standard SD card. And really, regardless what card I plug in, iPhoto doesn't start up. Even changing the program to start up when a camera is attached (see above) doesn't help.
So I created a new user account. Plugged in the 2 GB card, iPhoto starts and shows all pix. Fine. Closed iPhoto, ejected the card and plugged in the 8 GB one. iPhoto starts up and - just as described above - only shows the spinning wheel but no pictures within 10 minutes (364 images are on the card). Closed iPhoto again, and now it doesn't even start up anymore, no matter which of the two cards I plug in.
Can it be that iPhoto has a problem with the 8 GB SDHC card? We have been using this only for 3 weeks now, when we bought a new camera. Before the 2 GB SD card was used. However, iPhoto worked well with the 8 GB card for the first two weeks, and I haven't tried if re-formatting will help.
    Any comments?
    Thank you!
    Best wishes,
    Thomas.

  • IPhoto doesn't recognize my camera

    I have a Canon PowerShot A3100IS
    iPhoto v9.2.3
    Mac 10.6.8
When I plug my camera into the USB and turn the camera on, nothing happens. The settings are set to open iPhoto when the camera is plugged in, and image capture settings were in place.  The computer doesn't even recognize the camera to be honest. I don't know if it is a Mac issue or an iPhoto issue.

I have almost the same problem. Sometimes it recognizes my camera, sometimes it doesn't. Oddly, connecting the camera will launch Photo, but that's where it stops; iPhoto doesn't show the camera as attached. I've tried switching USB ports, turning the camera off and back on, etc. Finder doesn't show it, either.
And now, after sitting here for 5 minutes with the camera attached, and after I typed and published the above, iPhoto just suddenly "saw" the camera. Very weird.

  • Iphoto doesn't recognize jpg's and won't import pictures

Recently updated from iPhoto 09 to 11 and iPhoto won't import pictures from Kodak camera. Says it doesn't recognize file type "jpg". Imported pic last week from same camera just fine. Also upgraded to OSX 10.6.8– this is when the problem started. I don't want a work around solution, as I know there is a fix for this. Just can't find it.

There isn't a fix. Workaround: use a USB Card Reader.

  • Iphoto doesn't recognize black and white jpg files

I scanned in an old black and white photo and it is a jpg file. When I try to drag it into iphoto it doesn't recognize the file. When I reopen the file, I noticed that my settings never saved in preview.  How do I permanently change this files settings?

  • How come iPhoto doesn't recognize my iPhone anymore?

When I first got an iPhone I could sync it to iPhoto and take all the photos off.  Now iPhoto doesn't recognise my iPad or iPhone. Additionally I have overcapacity of 5 GB on my 64 GB iPhone, all because of my 30000 pictures.  Macbook Pro
    Thank you!

Thanks a lot for your help, unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work, so the only option I have left, to my knowledge is to visit an Apple Store, physically, with my laptop and iPhone,
