Iphoto doesn't see camera under different logins

iphoto recognizes my new Nikon camera when I am logged in (administrator) but does not see the camera when one of my kids is logged in. They can access and use iphoto and the usb sees the camera with system profiler when they are logged in, but i photo does not. Image Capture is also set to open iphoto when a camera is connected. Any ideas on what to try to get iphoto to see the camera when they are logged in? I even tried putting iphoto in the shared folder with no luck. It's driving me crazy. Thanks.

  • IPhoto doesn't see my photos

I was in middle of editing newly loaded photos, when the computer locked up. I had to shut it off to regain control. Since then iPhoto opens but doesn't see any photos in my libraries. Photos are still there, I can see them in finder and preview, but iPhoto shows zero photos. I have tried renaming library , creating new library, and opening different libraries, but iPhoto doesn't see photos in any of them. Any thoughts on how I can get back to my photos? I'm running Mac OS X 10.4.11, and iPhoto 2.0.1.

Have a look at this article
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2042
It has details on how to rebuild iPhoto Libraries prior to v6 - including v4 and v2.
Of course, the best solution to your issues is to simply restore from your back up.

  • IPhoto doesn't see new photos in iPhone

Trying to import new photos from my iPhone. iPhoto doesn't see them. I tried quitting both things, but still doesn't see them - now what?
    Using iPhoto 9 - version 8.1.2
    iPhone version 3.1.3

Computer sees the iphone, it just doesn't see the photos. This happened once before and I spent more than an hour with tech support fixing it - a real pain..... I'm hoping there is a quicker fix.

  • IPhoto doesn't see my camera, but Finder does. Sometimes works, sometimes not.

Sometimes, when I connect my camera to my iMac via a USB port, iPhoto does not see the device. Normally, iPhoto starts automatically when the camera is connected. The problem occurs whether or not iPhoto is not running and is initiated manually, or is already running when the camera is connected. In all cases, Finder sees the device and shows it in its list of active devices.
I have been using this camera and this iMac for a few years without any problems. This problem has only starting occuring in the last two weeks.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    John

In response to a similar problem reported, it was suggested to repair disk permissions using the disk utility. I did this, but it had no effect. However, after restarting my iMac, the problem was resolved. So, don't know if repairing disk permissions had any effect, or whether simply restarting cleared the problem. Next time it occurs, I will simply restart to see if this is all that is needed.

  • Will iCloud enable new iTunes purchases to be automatically downloaded to multiple iTunes libraries under different logins on the SAME iMac?

So I have a customer with one iMac and a user login on that iMac for each member of the family.  Under each user login, iTunes is configured with the same Apple ID so any purchases are made on the one account.  What they want is that no matter who purchases iTunes content from the iTunes Store, it appears in ALL their iTunes libraries.  If I configure iCloud with the SAME Apple ID under each login, and tick the 3 "Automatically Download New Purchases" boxes in iTunes under each login, then will new purchases be automatically downloaded to every library when the library owner logs in?  Or does iCloud only enable this functionlity based on a hardware ID, ie it will only work once per machine rather than once per user login?
There must be a simple yes/no answer to this, but it's a fair bit of work to set up a test rig so I'm hoping somebody already knows!
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello campin,
Congrats on your now MacBook Pro and welcome to the Apple family!
So, I'm just going to address each question directly.
    1) Short answer: yes. The article "iTunes 11 for Mac: Download previous purchases from the iTunes Store" goes over the process of downloading all of your previously purchased content.
    2) When you plug in your device you should see that iTune will allow you to configure the syncing options for each type of content. See "iOS: How to transfer or sync content to your computer" for more info.
    3) Automatic downloads is something that you can disable, but is enabled by default. This is also something that be different for Music and Apps. See "iTunes Store: How to enable Automatic Downloads"
It's a lot of information, but that should help you out and enjoy your new MacBook Pro!

  • IPhoto doesn't see photos in the library

Hope someone can help. The external hard drive holding my iPhoto library accidentally disconnected while I was working in iPhoto. Now, iPhoto does not see any photos in it, even though that library shows up as a choice when I reconnect it. Finder shows there are hundreds of gigabytes of data in the file, so I know the photos are there (I hope). But every time I try to switch to that library, it doesn't show up in the left column like it used to, and iPhoto gives me the message -- to get started, connect a camera or import photos. How do I get iPhoto to see the pictures/files again?? I'm on iPhoto 9.6 with OS X Yosemite on a macbook pro. Thank you!!
    Evelyn

Backup your iPhoto library and  depress and hold the option and command keys and double click on the library on the EHD - keep the keys down until the first sid window comes up - rebuild your database

  • IPhoto doesn't see photos from my iPhone

This problem just started happening a few weeks ago --
    First, the hardware --
An older MacMini that is NOT upgraded to Lion because it is single core (and hence is not connected to iCloud)
    iPhoto '11, version 9.2.1
    iPhone 4S with OS5.01
    Now, the problem --
iPhoto is not recognizing any new photos I take.  The photos are on the phone in the camera roll and are uploading to photostream but that does me no good since I don't have iCloud on my computer (because I don't have Lion).  And iPhoto is recognizing that my iPhone is connected via USB -- it just says there are no photos (new or old) on it.  Image capture is the same -- sees the device but doesn't see the photos.
When did this start?  I'm not sure -- either (a) when I upgraded from my 3GS, which was running OS5, to the 4S OR (b) when I upgraded the 4S to 5.01.
In any event, I really want to get my photos from my phone to iPhoto -- after all, one of the selling points of the 4S was how great the camera is.  Well, if I can't download the photos to my computer, what good is it?
    Help anyone?

  • FCE doesn't see camera after 10.4.3 upgrade

Here I Go Again...a few weeks ago, I got on a discussion thread about difficulties I was having getting Final Cut Express HD to see my Canon Optura camera. After a bit of back-and-forth with Tom Wolsky, he clarified what my problem was, and I subsequently obtained an additional FireWire PCI card, which I attached my two LaCie drives and a DV converter to while having the camera connected to the system's FireWire port. Everything worked fine after that. Well, yesterday I upgraded (my Quicksilver dual G4) to 10.4.3 and Final Cut can't see the camera under any circumstances. (iMovie still allows me to switch freely between the camera and the converter) I removed Final Cut app, preferences and User Data folder, restarted from system disk and ran permissions verifications, reinstalled FCE, removed the drives and the converter with the camera alone connected to system's firewire and then the PCI card, and...nothing. I have been unable to use Final Cut since I got it, I end up doing all my work in iMovie and I'm about ready to cry. What am I missing? HELP!!!

Normally when going to a new operating system such as from Panther to Tiger it's a good idea to do a clean wipe of the hard drive and install.
There is a problem with QuickTime 7 in this upgrade path. There was a sticky at the top of old forum that explained the problem and the solution. Unfortunately it's gone in the new forum.
This article http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301852 contains some of the information. Try that and see if it helps.

  • IPhoto doesn't see my iPhone.

I recently visited the Genius Bar. We moved all of my iTunes and iPhoto libraries to an external hard drive and now iPhoto doesn't recognize my phone when I try to sync it. How do I find my phone in iPhoto so that I can move pictures and videos off of it?
    Thanks for your help!

Can you access it with Image Capture (in your Applications Folder) ?
Have you tired restarting the Phone? Resetting it?

  • Iphoto does not see camera

I recently ran updates on all iLife suite. When a camera is connected now iPhoto starts up but does not recognize that there are photos on the camera to be uploaded. To make matters worse I cannot find a way within the software to tell it to go look at the camera (import).
I've tried a couple different cameras (low and high end) and a couple different machines, same outcome.
    Will appreciate help,
    Chuck

It's 6.0.6. I mention the upgrades as we installed all all Apple software updates that were issued since last fall over the summer. We re-image the labs once a year, as as long as everything is running OK do not run updates during the school year.
I've been tinkering and the Adminstrative log in group sees the camera in iPhoto. It's the student groups that have trouble so it has something to do with privileges.
Perhaps I need to post in another forum to get help with that?

  • Firewire bus doesn't see camera

I have had constant problems getting my 3 new computers to "see" the camera. Prevous discussions prompted me to trash the plist - that didn't work. I have 25 students, 8 cameras (one of them brand new Canon GL2), and virtually none of them can be used on the new computers! This makes a weekly broadcast very difficult. This MUST be a computer problem, since the system profiler doesn't recognize that the cameras are plugged in. This was not a problem until about 3 weeks ago, and sudenly all three computers stopped recognizing the cameras at once.
I'm begging for help here - I appreciate anything I can get!

I'm beginning to suspect that the camera DV ports are burning out. I read something on here that alluded to something called hot plugging that would burn them out. Last year, when the Panasonics quit exporting, I sent them in on the extended warranty, and was told that the motherboards were fried. They worked except for the DV ports. What is hot plugging? Is it something we are doing, because we have zero cameras out of 9 that will export now, and I really dont' know what we'll do. The cheaper the camera, the faster that port burns out.
Also, the computers are recognizign the firewire ports themselves, just not the cameras.

  • ISight - doesn't see camera help

When photobooth is launched i get an app is using cam: All apps are closed; did the permissions thing, zapped the PRAM, did the restsrt powerup with the cord out all night still no green light doesn't show anywhere is the sysinfo help
    thx

    You're welcome, SmokeOpp
If I don't see it on USB in sysprofile is it a hardware issue ?
Having tried the suggestions above, you probably do have a hardware problem. I suggest that you contact your retailer or Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service while you still have warranty coverage. As you say, it is "..too soon to have something like this happen", and this will not get better with time.
Although it has never helped me solve any problem on my Macs, you can try Apple Hardware Test (AHT) to see what it says about your hardware. The fact that AHT does not find a problem does not mean that your Mac does not have one.
If you want to try one last thing before seeing your Service Technician, you can consider Reinstalling Mac OS X, but do not be surprised if reinstalling does not fix your problem. It is merely my only remaining possibility.
Please let us know how it goes.
    Cheers,
    Jim

When I am on windows 7 on Bootcamp, it work well, but when I am on windows 7 whith parralel Desktop, it doesn't work.
What would be the problem ?
    Thank you.

    Hi James Cook2,
If you are having issues with an external USB card reader when used with your MacBook Pro (but that works with other computers), you may find the troubleshooting steps outlined in the following article helpful, in particular the portion about checking with the manufacturer to verify compatibility and any updated drivers:
