IPhoto doubles my pics from 5s for no reason..HELP!

Why when i plug in my 5s (running ios8), to my MBP (running Yosemite), do all the single shot photos on the phones,  duplicate in iPhoto?
I see, from other communities, that i'm not alone with this problem.

Thanks Terence, Do I have to do that every time now? or can i go back to how it used to work? Has this recently been introduced? is there something useful about the duplication that i'm not seeing? or is just a bug? Sorry for all the questions..perhaps you know the answers?

  • Brand new account disabled for security reasons -- Help!

Santa brought my daughter an iPod Touch for her main Christmas present. She was so excited, but we cannot get it to work.
We had trouble entering the password and making it match because of my big clumsy fingers (she is blind so I was doing it for her because the speech function wasn't working/wasn't turned on....we are still figuring out how to work it). This is the only reason I can think of to cause this to happen.
When I first got this message I reset the password as required, but this timed out as I had trouble coming up with a password that she could remember that also met Apple's requirements. So I started over again. We are now on our third password in 2 hours, but it is still not working.
I am trying to download the apps for blind users from iTunes, but I keep getting this message that her account has been disabled for security reasons and it tells us to reset the password. However, resetting the password does not fix the problem.
The Apple tech support line is closed for Christmas, so that is no help.
This is going to be a very sad Christmas for my little girl if I cannot discover a way to fix this problem.
I hope someone out there will see this and know what to do!
    Thank you!

You need to contact Apple Support: If your Apple ID has been locked - Apple Support
The dialog "This Apple ID has been disabled for security reasons" means that it might be temporary. You can stop trying to log in for a day or two, after which you might be able to log in. Attempting to change it multiple times within an hour won't work. If you were more or less permanently locked out and unable to do anything on your own, they use different wording.
Apple is intentionally vague about the means by which you can recover from this on your own... for security reasons.

  • MBP unexpectedly shuts down for no reason- help!

MBP unexpectedly shuts down for no reason.
My MBP has been working fine, until I updated to 10.5. Originally this problem started in Bootcamp running XP, but has now done this once in OS X, just a while ago. There seems to be no difference- even when the psu is plugged in. Just now when it did this again, I pressed the power key and the led on the front blinked really fast, then there was a tone- like it was doing a firmware update (but I did the firmware update months ago!).
I've done a power reset- taking out the battery and holding the power key down for 20 seconds, which seems to have helped, but then again this problem seems to be rather sporadic, and one can never tell when it is going to happen next.
Oh yes, there is a mechanical 'click' that sounds when it does it- like a relay click. Is there a relay power related IC on the motherboard?
Any clues anyone? (I'm sending this exact letter to Apple as well)
    Tom

It's an interesting thread, but I seem to have the problem even when the cord is plugged in. I did have battery problems when I first got this MBP, but they seemed to settle down once I used the computer a bit more. FWIW, I have now got them mostly while using Bootcamp. BC beta 1.3 was really stable and good. It wasn't until I bought Leopard that this problem started. And again, it's only happened 3 or 4 times now.
I'll just have to keep saving. I'm sure Apple will wise up to this sooner or later. (Incidently, I haven't been able to send anything to Apple as I can't find their direct contact addie. Can someone 'remind' me? Thanks!

  • Powering down for no reason, HELP

My I-Mac G5 powers down for no reason. I will be sitting there staring at it and it will just shut down. Any ideas?

    Hello JSug,
You have verified that the Energy Saver setting (System Preferances -> Energy Saver) are not responsable for this? Default settings are to put the computer to sleep after 15 minutes of no input to either mouse or keyboard.
If you have done that I would would try resetting the SMU (Resetting the SMU)

Ok guys, I just upgraded to leopard today, and I'm gettin REALLY weird problems. Sometimes, my macbook just plays this weird mario theme like music or this weird buzzing and bird chirping sound for no reason whatsoever. I have made sure that there is nothing running other than finder, yet it is still happening. Also, if it helps, I took a list of all the activities in my activity monitor, so see if you can see anything weird. I know that there is a lot of stuff, but I really need help. I've shut off sound for now, but I'm really getting confused. HELP!!!

    Hahahhahahahahahahahah!!!!!
    I just figured it out.
I had made a web clip of Nintendo.com, and apparanty, it was making the sounds. I guess I didn't realize that web clips keep the sounds associated with the webpages they are linked to. In the end, I guess I paniced over nothing, but man, that was WEIRD!

  • IPhoto 11 no pics from one event

iphoto 11 will not display full size pictures from my most recent event, only thumbnails -- this after recent upgrade with file transfer from older macbook.  The files themselves are fine and I tried reverting them to original, though they had not been edited.

I have the same problem. When i click the info button it shows the size to be in KB when i know the original file was shot in several GB. When i zoom in it's a bit blurred as it is almost like a thumbnail.
Some of my other pics are showing the actual size. Not sure if this is a settign issue. I just upgraded to a new pro book and moved my pictures over from the old iPhoto. Anyone have any idea how to fix this issue?

  • Extracting pics from photoshop for web

    Hi all,
I posted the issue here (below) - but could use any assitance from the DW folks also - since that's where I'll be building the page...
    Newbie extract help needed

Once you drop out any info from the PS file you don't want to carry over, like the background image, there's no need to flatten the PSD into a tiff...
    1. In Photoshop, select an area with the Rectangle Marquee tool.
    2. Hit Ctrl + Shift + C to "Copy all layers" in that selection.
    3. Hit Ctrl + N to create a new document with the same pixel size as the selection (size should be automatic based on selection)
    4. Hit Ctrl + P to paste the image to the new document
    5. Hit Ctrl + Shift + Alt + S to Save For Web (important for load times to optimize your images for the web)
    6. Choose jpg for high quality photographs, .gif for "simple artwork with transparency" or PNG-24 for "high quality artwork/photos with transparency"
    7. Hit the 4 Up tab and change the quality settings until they are as low as possible while still looking "good" to you
    8. Click the window with the "lowest good setting"
    9. Save to your local site folder (if you don't have one in DW, do step 1 below first)
    1. Open DW and Define a Site: http://tv.adobe.com/watch/learn-dreamweaver-cs5/gs01-defining-a-new-site/
2a.You can then go to Insert > Image > Image to place the image where the mouse cursor is
2b. Alternatively, you can drag the image from the Files window into the page
I'm giving you the "long" way around with the images. Photoshop can produce html, and/or all of your sliced areas at once with a couple clicks. I prefer a bit more control over my images and the html PS produces should never be used for real websites (maybe quick mock-ups, but not for the real thing). It's horribly inflexible and when you start adding real content it will cause more problems than it solves.

  • Restore iPhoto library and pics from 10.4 backup to new 10.6 installation

    Hi There,
I just replaced my iMac (intel) HD which was running Mac OSX 10.4. I have a full network backup (and several incrementals) created by the 10.4 backup utility.
I installed a new HD and Snow Leopard and I now need to restore my iPhoto libary. When I go into iPhoto to search backups, Time Machine opens up with but will not access the network backup.
Can someone tell me how to restore my full, and subsequent incremental, backups to iLife 09?
    Thank you in advance.

Fabulous! You were right. Once I installed the iDisk backup app, I was able to restore the photos. HOWEVER, one more thing if you don't mind. While I can see the images on the Mac, they are not showing up in iPhoto. I was hoping to see the catalog/database appear in iPhoto after I restored the file. Is there something I'm doing wrong as it relates to iPhoto 09 seeing the restored images? The path looks right in relation to where the restore placed them.
    Regards

  • My iMac won't let me upload pics from memory card...HELP!!!

I've had my Mac for 3 months and have never run into this problem until recently. I tried to upload my pictures onto my Mac and when I put the memory card into my memory card reader, iPhoto comes up, but it shows there are no pictures on the card. When I put the card in my camera I have 500+ pictures on it. I have also tried connecting my camera directly and it still shows no pictures on the card???
I don't understand what the problem is, it's always allowed me to upload from both my Memory Card Reader and from my camera directly...
    Can anyne help me???
    Message was edited by: Monica78

    Monica:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. As a workaround open iPhoto's preferences and in the General section change the "Connecting camera opens:" setting from iPhoto to Image Capture. Close iPhoto and insert the memory card in the reader and see if IC can see your photos. If so upload them to a folder on the desktop to get them on the HD before you do further testing.
First try the simple fix: delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder and try again. Have you run any updaters since the last time you successfully uploaded from the camera or card reader?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • HT3625 My Macbook Air does not have this "Use audio for:" option, as it has been excluded from Airs for whatever reason. How do I change my audio output to input without this?

If I have to buy an audio-usb converter let me know.
Although if this is an option exclusive to Pros and I do, then this is a little ridiculous Mr. Ghost of Steve Jobs.
Especially considering how Airs don't have their own section here on the forums

Nevermind, posted this in Air section
It didn't give me that option initially.

  • How to stop my phone from restarting for no reason after it being updated recently?

Hello, I have had the Droid Razr Maxx HD for almost a year and everything has gone well until about 2 weeks ago I noticed that my phone keeps turning itself off and restarting every 2-3 days constantly all day. Not sure why its during this but also the screen keeps freezing and the apps either wont run properly during this time or they will react slowly... Does anyone possibly know either why this is happening or how to fix this or am I just out of luck and need to look into a different phone?

        Hi ds755!
No need to look into getting a different phone.  I'm sure we can resolve this issue for you.  It appears there may be temporary files on your device memory that may be causing this device symptom.  We can remove those temporary files by wiping the cache partition http://vz.to/1x7Q87M.  This step will not affect your personal files and settings on your device.  Please try this and let me know how your device responds after wiping the cache partition.  Thanks!

  • Imac awakens from sleep for no reason?!

So sometimes in the middle of the night my imac comes on from sleep.  Usually it's very rare but it happened like 3-4 times last night.  I know the next door nieghbor has an airport extreme, I pick it up on my wifi.  Do you think someone's trying to hack in or is it coincidence? No I don't think I have a ghost either ; )

This may be something like a driver, application or external device which is not fully Leopard compatible, or even a component of MacOS if you upgraded to Leopard rather than did a clean install. To start the process of troubleshooting, first download and install the full 10.5.1 update from http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx1051update.html , even if you have already updated to 10.5.1 using software update. The full updater has been reported to resolve a number of minor issues.
Next, assuming that doesn't resolve it, start up your mini, put it to sleep and then disconnect everything. If it continues to wake unpredictably, the issue is with the mini itself, and you may be best to backup all your data and do an erase and install to resolve any residual issues caused in the upgrade. If, on the other hand, the system remains sleeping, it points to an external device being the culprit, in which case plug each one in, one at a time until you can create the unpredictable waking again. Whichever component was last plugged in, is the primary suspect!

I have an iPhone and when I take a picture it goes immediately to iCloud and now I can't Delete it like I used to before icloud.  All I had to do was click on the garbage can and then Delete and it was gone but not now.  I can't delete anything after I've taken the picture and I have several pictures I no longer want or need.  How can I Delete these pictures PLEASE?
I'm sorry if this has been done wrong but I don't know much about computers.
    Spoonman42

You can't because the actual photo is in camera roll.  The albums only contain links to the photos.  If you delete the photo from camera roll it will be gone from your phone and therefore also removed from any albums that contain links to it.
