IPhoto emailing

I have a large number of photos to email to someone.
What's the best way to maximize the photo quality and still be able to transmit about 30 photos to someone?
Are there email programs or software that allow for sending photos without compromising the file sizes?

Export the files from iPhoto

has details of the options in the Export dialogue.
Zip them. Attach them to the email.
That said, remember that most email services have a size limit of 20mb. Some have a limit of 10mb. It might be best to send several emails rather than put them all in one.
Other alternative: sharing services like DropBox or YouSendit etc.

one last time if you want help you have to start by being percise and shaing information - for example "older version" is of no help since there are 40 or 50 older versions

Iphoto emailing of photos not functioning. Recieve notice that my server is down...which is not the case

My iphoto email service will not complete the sending of photos attached to an email. I get a notice to the effect that action was not completed because
either I'm not connected to the internet or my server is "down." Niether is the case. I have tried to send to myself at both my gmail address (mailing from
the gmail address) and to my other email account, as well as to others at different accounts. Is there any way to restore this function? Thank you.

Books do not use Mail in any way - they created a order file and send it to the Apple servers directly - not using email

as to theiPhoto mail issue - there was a recent post about Cloud mail changing servers and iPHoto not being able to follow the change so either finding the correct mail server from time to time and entering it or using Mail which does not seem to have that problem is necessary - I use mail so have no recent experience with the iPhoto email client

IPHOTO EMAIL ATTACHMENT

I am having difficulty attaching a photo to an email as a JPEG attachment. All the Iphoto email programs imbed the picture in the email message. I want to be able to attach an photo to an email such that our club newsletter editor can take the photo off the email message and include in the software for our newsletter. How do i do this?

i went to the Apple Store. it turns out that IPhoto email pictures are in JPEG. To convert from in-bedded image you right click and choose show as an icon. I understand that a PC operator can do this as well.

My ibook keeps shutting down completely with the date to reverting back to 1969. i restart only after i plug in charger it lets me, then change date and save. the next time i use same thing happens, safari, iphoto, email are the only ones i have used.

The iBook does not have a backup (PRAM) battery. It only has the main battery and a small capacitor which maintains the settings long enough to do a battery swap. If the battery is dead, what you are seeing can happen.
If the battery is not a problem (or even if it is), you could try resetting the PMU and see if that helps.

Why? Because something is wrong.
As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

IPhoto - email did not go through...

I'm trying to send (share) pictures thru iPhoto and I keep getting this meesage: "Your email did not go thru because the server did not reply. Check internet connection. If the connection is working properly, the email server may be down. Try sending your email again later."
I've tried creating other iPhoto email accounts and I keep getting the same message. By the way, my internet is working just fine. Also if sned via Messages, the photo gets sent just fine.
Any thoughts on how a can get iPhoto to work (send photos via email)?

in the iPhoto preferences ==> accounts delete your e-mail account and reenter it
OR
IMHO the better solution is to set Apple mail as the email client in the iPhoto preferences

IPhoto email sudddenly not working

Suddenly my iPhoto email is not working. After I choose a photo from the library and push email and choose a size and compose,it starts to but after a moment the application freezes and the the BBOD appears and then the whole application shuts down. I tried at least 15 times today. Aside from this, I have continual problems with iPhoto 5 crashing. ANY HELP greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Close iPhoto. Use the Finder to navigate to Macintosh HD/ Users/ (your user name)/ Library/ Preferences/ com.apple.iPhoto.plist. Move the file to the trash and launch iPhoto. You'll have to set the preferences back to your liking.
If that doesn't help, then you can try rebuilding the database. Hold down Command and Option while launching iPhoto. Select the first 3 options in the dialog, then Rebuild. For more information read this Apple article.

IPhoto email photo degradation

Using iPhoto in OS X Yosemite email sharing feature. Beginning in late December, photos in photo cards using iPhoto email templates received by the recipients are blurry. The actual photos chosen from the iPhoto library are clear. Photos emails sent earlier in December and in years priori using the iPhoto prefernce do not have this problem.

Have you changed the Photo Size settings in the "Mail" panel?
Check if it is still set to a high quality, and "Attach Photo to message" is enabled.

"Closed" pictures in iphoto email

I often send pictures directly from iphoto by clicking on the email icon at the bottom of the library page. Its quick and easy but my pictures are sent as "open" rather than "closed" as most normal attachments should be received. I would like my mail recipient to receicve my pictures "unopened" Can this be done in iPhoto or do I have to send them the old fashioned way and "create" the enclosure. thanx.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. As far as I know going from iPhoto to Mail leaves them open. Haven't found a way to do it otherwise.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

You are really out of date - if I remember correct you are using Mail for e-mail - if so then you need to change the account in the Mail accounts references

IPhoto email shows question mark instead of email template

I sent some photos using iPhoto last night, i have gmail account i use to send photos. I learned after i had emailed the photos through iPhoto my receipts received the email with a question mark instead of the iPhoto template. I tried sending a couple to myself and my wife (she has hotmail if it matters) but all of them showed the question mark i attached a photo below. Any help in fixing this would be great.

Help with photos. iPhone - iCloud - iPhoto - Email ?????

I'm a new mac user. I switched over from Windows. The process of obtaining photos from iCloud on my iMac seems like a big hassle. So inconvenient I can't believe anyone would actually design it this way so maybe I'm just ignorant.
I take a photo with my iPhone.
The photo is uploaded through iCloud and appears in my iPhoto on my iMac.
Now I want to attach the photo to an email in the included mail program.
When I browse for the photo to attach, I look in "Photos" but iPhoto is grayed out. Why?
So what I've been doing is saving the picture to my desktop then attaching it that way.
This seems like a REALLY stupid extra step. What am I doing wrong here?

Is this where you're seeing the grayed out iPhoto in Mail?
Or are you trying to use the Attach button to add a photo?
If the photo is in your iPhoto Library on your Mac then you can select it and click on the Share button at the bottom right of iPhoto
and then on the Mail button in the next window:
and add it to a new email that way.

Uusally the solution is to go to the iPhoto preferences ==> accounts and delete the account and re-enter it
IMHO the better so;ution is to set Apple Mail as the e-mail client in the iPhoto general preferences and quit using iPhoto as the e-mail client and use mail

Address book not showing up in iPhoto Email

Anyone know why my address book isn't showing up in the email function in iPhoto? When I start typing a name in the "to" field, the name should pop up from my address book like in Mail, but it's not. I've restarted my computer and repaired disk permissions...

It works for me as it should. Delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder, launch iPhoto try try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

Iphoto emailing and "events" issue

I am not sure if these issues are related. 2 weeks ago I began having and issue where 3 of my events had no key image. It also said there were 0 photos in the event. If you clicked on the event, you could still see there were photos in there. I did a little research and discovered that I may have caused this when I emptied iPhotos trash recently. I didn't know this had to be done and there were several thousand photos in there. Since then I have also updated to Yosemite. I have now noticed that I cannot email photos from iPhoto anymore. I can go through all the steps but after I hit send, the wait bar goes to the end and nothing happens. I let it sit overnight once and it was still waiting. I assume these issues are related to either me emptying the trash or updating to Yosemite. Anyone have any ideas how fix this? I am using OSX 10.10.2 and iPhoto 9.6.

Go into iPhoto's Accounts preference pane and delete the email account that's there. Then add it back and try to email again.
A better solution, IMO, is to set Mail as iPhoto's email client in iPhoto's General preference pane. That allows you better access to Contacts, a sent copy created automatically and also has templates in the stationary section similar to iPhoto's. Mail is also more reliable.
