IPhoto Enhancement Suggestion

I like the concept of events. However, it would be great if you could easily navigate the events by year / event name as you can in iMovie '08.
Additionally, it would be great if all the iLife apps (specifically, iMovie and iPhoto) could follow the UI model that iTunes has pioneered - the ability to quickly filter by genre, artists, title, etc. or just plain search in the top right-hand corner. I could see something similar in iPhoto or iMovie with a standard search box at the top right of iPhoto and iMovie as well as a 3-paned filter (like iTunes) to be able to quickly filter down by Year > Event > Photo (or something similar).
The more streamlined the iLife apps are in terms of consistent UI features, the easier it is for people like me to switch and feel right at home after having used iTunes for Windows.
Not sure if this is the place to post this, but hopefully someone will see it.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Flex Callouts - Usability enhancement suggestions

Usability enhancement suggestions for flex callouts widget
FIG demo. (The FIG forum seems to be locked, making it difficult to
    add feedback there.)
Currently, clicking on callout expands to first level and
displays expando affordance on right. Suggest that it appear next
to the airplane (i.e. under the mouse), so the user is encouraged
to simply click a second time to see the second level expansion,
rather than scootch over to right every time. "But they don't need
    to do that." Yes, exactly.
The close action when window is fully expanded can be handled
by orienting callout with the arrow pointing to upper left, and
balloon at lower right, so that the same "click in place" trick can
    be employed.
callouts/tooltips appearing to lower right of mouse.
This would then clearly convey that user can
click-click-click to cycle through the three states. So it's click
once to expand to show heading. Expando glyph appears under/near
mouse position attached to airplane. Click again to have the
heading expand *downward*, with a close "X" replacing the expando
glyph. Click again to close/return to initial state.

There is no upgrade to iPhoto with OS X 10.10.3 - here was an update to version 9.6.1 a few months ago and Photo 1.0 was added with 10.10.3 - what software and which version are you having trouble with - iPhoto or Photos?

  • Some Bugs and Enhancement Suggestions for Offline DB models

I really like the way that this area of JDeveloper is shaping up, but I have a couple of bugs and few suggestions for enhancements.
    Bugs,
    1) when adding an index to a table, you can't edit the index name. If the generated name is too long, it doesn't allow you to create the index.
    2) When adding columns to an index, there is no LOV of columns so you have to manually type each one. It always defaults to the ?first column of the primary key? which seems odd.
    A few enhancement suggestions:
    1) on tables and columns it would be very helpful to be able to also have a logical name as well as a physical name
    2) if we have a logical name, it would be then very helpful to be able to set the display properties to show the logical vs. physical table and column names
    3) Tablespace objects. I would be okay if they were just the logical object (not necessarily generate DDL to create them). If I could use them as part of the table and index definitions.
    4) Table partitioning.
    5) Packages on a DB Diagram. Just for the documentation purpose of visually displaying all objects in an application.
    6) Ability to create views based on synonyms. Currently, it only allows to pick a table or view.
Just a few items that I have encountered trying to design a full application in JDeveloper.
    Thanks,
    Gary

  • Enhancement Suggestion - Jdeveloper Code Editor

    Hello,
I would like to make an enhancements suggestion for the JDeveloper code editor. I find the "history" tab of the source editor extremely useful when I'm trying new things and not sure if they would work. This tab helps me revert changes to a last known version. However, I see myself having to identify the previous correct version by date and time, which is kind of dicey. I do see there is also a description column, however, I'm not able to edit the description with a meaningful message that would help identify as last know good version quickly. Hence, my suggestion is that the history tab of the code editor allow the user to add tags / comments against each version for quick identification.
Hope the Oracle development is listening, and you'll have to excuse me for posting if this forum is the wrong place to make suggestion ( i didn't quite find any feedback feature on the Jdeveloper product page).
    regards,
    Rehan Yusuf

    No problem Timo.
I don't think it's worth opening an SR for this. It looks like sub-pixel anti-aliasing isn't supported in the JDeveloper Code Editor, which is a shame, because that's the place where it's most needed.

  • ITunes Enhancement Suggestion

    Hi Folks,
I'm trying to find the best way to submit a enhancement suggestion to Apple regarding the iTunes app and its interaction with my iPod...
Like many of you I carry my iPod many places and have a variety of music (thus the versatility of this product)...
However, outside of work I listen to music that might have explicit lyrics... But at work, due to my job its not feasible to have headphones on all the time... So I plug it into my speakers and listen to it quietly...
What I would like is a way in iTunes to flag a song with explicit lyrics... And then in the iTune change a flag (like the compilations) to either on or off... If I have it to exclude them it would skip them.. but as I leave the building and walk to my car, I could reenable them and thus let them play...
I mean this sounds worse than it is.. .I might only have a few songs with explicit lyrics... but then again some could be considered inappropriate for the business place... This feature would allow me to ensure that the music playing is appropriate for the setting around others... I could see this beneficial if you had kids in the car... Therefore the explicit lyrics wouldn't be visible and maybe need a code if you wanted to to reactivate it...
    Any other takers on this?
And does anyone know how I would suggest this to Apple themselves? Or do they montior these newsgroups for ideas like this?
    Please let me know... THanks

  • Enhancement suggestions

Just got a new Apple TV. I wondered if I really need it as my TV (Samsung 6 series) already got music streaming and internet capabilities. While I succeeded to a) get music played from Itunes, b) viewing photos and b) watching Youtube videos (a + b with the assistance of EyeConnect) this stand alone solution was brittle and far away from being sofa-compatible. The TV frequently lost the connection or I accidentally hit the wrong key and was back to TV functionality. The usability / ergonomy of Apple TV is superior to all you can do with the current internet capable TVs. Using an iphone as alternate remote control even gives you more comfort; the missing keyboard.
I have a few suggestions for future enhancements: a) more apps!! (e.g. an internet browser), why not apps from teh appstore just like for ipad or iphone? For watching photos, it would be a nice to have full HD resolution and directly watching iphoto slideshows.
I can really recommend this device, it has a very reasonable price.

  • IPhoto Enhancement equivilant in Aperture?

I often use iPhoto's Enhancement feature quick down and dirty photo adjustments that often do just what I need to improve my underexposed photos. So I'm wondering, is there a way I can get that one click type of enhancement in Aperture? I'm using the trial version on Powerbook G4. If it comes performing pretty well through the trial, I'll probably go ahead and purchase it.

I appreciate all the feedback, and though I understand that Aperture is geared toward professionals--that's why I'm upgrading to it--I think many wedding and event photographers who are shooting a 1000+ photos on a weekly basis would have no problem using and maybe overusing an Enhancement feature, especially when it delivers good results. It's sorting of like setting up actions in Photoshop or presets in Bridge in order to batch process multiple photos so that you can concentrate on particular images that you want to enhance beyond the batching process.
There's times I've seen the Enhancement feature make a picture pop, and it does it in a fraction of a time that it would take me to do the same thing in Photoshop.
Don't get me wrong, Aperture rocks. Once I learn the set up and the controls, it's going to increase my workflow significantly. But I'd be lying if I said I don't miss iPhoto's simple enhancement feature.
Well, anyway, I took parts of today figuring out some importing strategies, keyword configurations, and Apeture book templates. This weekend I'll tackle its adjustment features some.
Thanks again for the feedback. I appreciate it.

  • IPhoto '08 suggestion

How do you give input to Apple on software enhancements?
I have one, after using iPhoto '08 for a few minutes I noticed that there is one enhancement that seems to be missing.
In iPhoto everything is now in "events". Events are nice, I like the feature.
However, as I am building my events from years of photos, thousands of photos, I will have lots of events.
My issue, when in Pages (or other Apple apps) and I choose Media to see my photos and drop them in...I see events, but the events do not retain the event name from the library.
Maybe I am not visual enough, but I cannot remember from the front picture, when I have so many events, the right event.
It would be nice to see the event name (just a mouse-over) in the Media dialogs in OS X.
How can I pass that on?

  • Enhancement Suggestion

As a future enhancement, can you HTML DB Team guys give WS admin the ability to do some WS customization ?
e.g: Display X number of applications/pages on the main "Applications/Pages" page

nottoc, consider adding the business value for the feature (e.g. increased developer productivity in a multiple database environment) to your suggestion.  This will help Microsoft prioritize it.

  • Photos won't sync to devices with iPhoto enhancements like cropping

So here's what I'm doing: I'll take photos with my iPhone 4S, import to my Macbook with iPhoto, make adjustments and enhacements using iPhoto like cropping and color enhancements, then I'll add these enhanced photos to albums, then I'll try to sync the iPhoto album to my iPhone or iPad. After syncing, I can view the album photos on my devices but the photos will sometimes look like the original photo from my iPhone instead of the enhanced as it looks in iPhoto.
This only happens to some photos. And it only happens on syncing; if I set the album as an Apple TV screen saver or publish an album to Facebook through iPhoto, the photos publish fine with enhancements intact.
    What's going on?

The secret is to repair or rebuild the damaged library.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • IPhoto Tutorial Suggestions please?

    Hey everyone,
I'd really love some suggestions for iPhoto tutorials for my wife who loves to scrapbook but has stopped because most of the photos are now digital. She is familiar with iPhoto but would like to learn how to use iPhoto (and possibly aperature) to retouch and correct the photos and then print them out for use in a scrapbook. I tried Lynda.com but the tutorials for iphoto are so so. Any suggestions?

  • I can't seem to upload cover photos to FB from iPhoto, any suggestions on how to fix it?

I use iPhoto '11. I have Facebook connected to my iPhoto library. I am able to upload photos to new albums and change my profile photographs. However, I am not able to change my cover photos anymore. I was able to select a photo, go to "share", select "Facebook" and then select "Cover Photos" but last week, this last step wasn't an option anymore, I could only either select an existing album, change profile photo or create a new album. Not sure what the issue is - I even deleted Facebook and reconnected the account on iPhoto but no luck. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Thank you.

For Mavericks you need to upgrade to iPhoto 9.5.1.
You cannot buy this version from the AppStore, since the current version is iPhoto 9.6, and that requires Yosemite. The easiest route for you would be to upgrade to Yosemite. Then you can simply buy the newest version of iPhoto from the App Store and can use iCloud Photo Library (iCloud Photo Library beta FAQ), once it has been release for the Mac as well early next year.
If you want to stick with Mavericks, you'll have limited iCloud features, only the Photo Streams  (iCloud: iCloud Photo Sharing FAQ), but no iCloud Drive (iCloud Drive FAQ) and iCloud Photo Library.  And to upgrade iPhoto you need to buy an iPhoto '11 installer. It comes as part of iLife '11. You can try to buy a boxed version from Amazon or try to find it at eBay.  Once installed on Mavericks, download the iPhoto '11 updaters from the apple Support Downloads page.

  • Where do i send iPhone software enhancement suggestions?

I moved from a palm smartphone to the iPhone and noticed the calendar is lacking some basic functions.
    for instance...
On Palm OS, the calendar can be configured to show you you closest upcoming appointment on the main screen. On the iphone i get no notification of anything going on until the appt reminder goes off. I dont see why apple cant put in a notice on the calendar saying you have an upcoming appt (little red circle)like it does with txt messaging and email. I would find that very useful alerting me to an upcoming event and to look at the calendar. just my $.02 So where can i send this so apple people can look at this?
