IPhoto/Epson interface issues

When I try to print from iPhoto 6 to an Epson R2400, it doesn't always work. Thorough diagnostics from both Apple Help & Epson Help have yielded zip. Apple suggests a Third Party driver solution that someone in this forum might know about. What say?

You need to give folks something to work with here.
We have no idea what does not work and when.

  • Ap3 - iPhoto: Metadata + Organizational issues

I was hoping for improved cross-app integration with the advent of Aperture 3, but apparently not. Nevertheless, I'm still curious if SOMEONE who uses both programs has figured out a way to do the following:
I want to be able to drag MULTIPLE Aperture Projects from an Aperture 3 Library (via iPhoto's "Show Aperture Library" browser window) into iPhoto, and have them then appear in iPhoto as SEPARATE Events, rather than being all lumped together into a single iPhoto Event.
ALSO, would like the name of each project to automatically become the name of each respective iPhoto Event, rather than those Events all suddenly becoming "Untitled".
AND -- in an ideal world -- would love to have the Caption information I'd entered for each image in Aperture appear in the relevant Description field in iPhoto.
Is there ANY way to do this? For now, I'm limited to dragging in one Aperture Project at a time (in order to keep each one as a separate Event in iPhoto). And if I'm lucky, SOME of the Aperture Keywords I've assigned transfer over (though curiously, some don't), but I'm out of luck as far as Project->Event names, as well as Caption->Description info for each image.
Other than my sending in more feature requests to both apps, can anyone suggest any paths to better metadata integration between Aperture 3 and IPhoto '09?
(BTW, the reason I'm having to do this is so my wife can use iPhoto -- whose interface she prefers -- to view our domestic image library. To do this, I maintain a backup copy of my full Aperture Library on her iMac, and then import the previews it contains into her iPhoto Library, with iPhoto's "copy" option turned off. This in effect allows her to use iPhoto simply as an image viewer, which is all she wants to do.)
    Thanks,
    John Bertram,
    Toronto
(If this question would be more appropriate for the iPhoto forum, please let me know and I'll switch it over.)

IPhoto lacks the more comprehensive Metadata options that are present in Aperture. Presumably iPhoto is aimed at family use rather than as an outright professional toolbox. This is what I think limits your metadata from carrying over. Where it does carry over, could that be because the Keyword is present in both metadata dictionaries? Just a thought.
You could be right on the Keyword question -- I'll check that one later.
Part of my Ap3<->iPhoto frustration is that the kind of metadata I'm talking about -- things like Project/Event names and Caption/Description text -- is stuff I've entered using the Apple interface, as opposed to the very detailed kind of camera metadata which Aperture ingests when importing.
It seems like this kind of user-defined, user-entered, and user-editable info -- what I'll call "soft" metadata -- should be tranferrable from one Apple image program to another Apple image program, their different (though certainly overlapping) target audiences notwithstanding.
And I seem to recall that when I first set up my Aperture Library in the Fall of 2008, I had the same issue going the other way -- Aperture, for all its sophistication, seemed incapable of automatically naming Projects the same as the Event names it was importing, and couldn't seem to transfer the iPhoto Description info I'd entered for specific images (some of it fairly detailed) into the appropriate Caption field in Aperture.
Automator might have offered you a solution to Event building if you had used albums in your Aperture Projects. Since you use folders I cannot see an option that will import those into iPhoto. The drawback with using such a method is the export processing time involved.
Another hitch with my particular situation is that my Aperture Library is referenced to a Master Images folder on my Mac, whereas my wife's machine has a backup copy of the Ap Library only. So while the image Previews which that copy offers are plenty big enough for her viewing purposes, the Library itself doesn't have access to the Master Images folder, and therefore cannot do its own Exporting.
Since your good lady is only intending to view, I would be inclined to create desktop folders to match your Project contents and drag out the previews into those (Browser/Select All.) Then manually drop the folders into iPhoto thus automatically creating an Event named the same as the desktop folder. This means just a few moments work on each folder.
And the problem here is my very narrowly-focussed, chronological Project structure (with folders for each year, sub-folders for each month, and then individual Projects by date) makes for a Library with over 1200 Projects -- each of which needs to be seen in iPhoto as a separate Event.
Also, I can't seem to find a way to export and/or drag previews from Aperture's Browser (either in groups of Projects or even just one Project at a time) into the Finder in such a way that folders are automatically created whose names match those of the Projects. And if I would have to manually create -- and name -- each of those Finder folders before dragging previews into them from Aperture, and THEN drop those folders into iPhoto, I'm not sure what's been gained vs. manually renaming "Untitled" Events inside iPhoto itself.
But maybe I'm not completely understanding the workflow you were suggesting.
In any case, thanks for taking the time to write.
I cant think of a faster method.
Needless to say -- if you do, don't keep it a secret!
    Cheers,
    jb

  • Are USB audio interface issues on iMac Haswell resolved?

    HI,
i just ordered a 27 inch iMac, maxed out with a 1TB SSD.
I noticed the imac doesn't have an audio in jack and figured i'd shop for a good USB Audio Interface.
But then i came across all these USB audio interface issues on the new iMac.
This is incredible to me because iMacs are often used by creative people and lots of musicians.
For me audio is VERY important. I record music and i record sound for animation and video.
Apple thus far seemed to be avoiding the topics and issues at hand.
Are the USB audio issues resolved? What was resolved? What was the problem (Maverick? Fusion Drive)?
Is it wise to choose for a Thunderbolt Interface? Which one?
Any help would be hugely appreciated.
Especcialy since it seems such a wide spread problem.
    Thanx

doubt it would be a general issue
usb is a universal serial bus it always require a driver for anything
and the driver of one external audio device would act different then the driver from another external audio device
so it would be very unlikely that an external audio card using a cirrus logic audio chip would cause the same issues with the imac as one with a realtek or soundblaster audio chip
not that there could not be issues with all of them but not likely that they would suffer from the same issue

  • Two storage box (3510 and 6140) interface issue...

    Hi All,
In my setup we were previously used storage box 3510 but having space issues we are purchasing new storage box of six series 6140. Now, I don't have any clear idea that both the storage can easily mounted on the servers? or there are some interface issues might be?
Can anyone suggest me what are the points(like network, HD and etc.) I have to consider for the compatibility of these storage box?
    Thanks...

    Hi user505
Now, I don't have any clear idea that both the storage can easily mounted on the servers? or there are some interface issues might be?How many HBA's do your current hosts that are connected to the 3510 have ? are they are single port single card or dual ported card ?.
Depending on how many HBA's you have in your server I would configure up the 6140 with the initiators , map the new volumes straight to the server and then do your copying of data.
In regards to network config etc you'd need to setup the 6140 as per the normal configuration for out of band access , so you can get it via CAM.
    Hope that helps

  • IPhoto & epson 4800 printer

When i print FULL PAGE 8.5 x 11 prints i can't get equal top/bottom margins (in other words the print doesn't center onto the paper. In page set-up I've tried creating a custom size with 1.43cm top/bottom margins. once i get back into iphoto to print it loses the settings. Any advice? Thx.
    Tower G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Here are a few things to try:
    1. Run Software Update as there were a number of new Epson drivers added on 12/15. This should update your driver to the latest version. See if the problem continues.
    2. If it still does have the issue, remove and re-add the queue.
    3. If the issue still occurs, reset the printing system by:
    a. Control-click or right-click a print queue in the "Printers" pane.
    b. Choose "Reset printing system..." from the contextual menu.
    c. Click "OK" in the "Are you sure..." confirmation sheet.
You can follow the troubleshooting steps in these Apple articles:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669?viewlocale=en_US
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3771
If all of this doesn't work, you can see if the issue is with the user account or system wide by creating a new OSX user account and see if that user has the same issue.
Let me know if any of these steps worked for you.

    Hi Gurus,
Regarding to issue reported above, I have found the bug 7590135 (https://bug.oraclecorp.com/pls/bug/webbug_edit.edit_info_top?rptno=7590135 ).
For that bug, as informed in the bug below, there was released a fix in the 9.1.0.2 BP 01.
In that bug there is the following information:
@ We need to add following property in 9101BP01 release document to fix this
    @ issue.
    @ <store>
    @ <Note>
    @ <SpecialField>true</SpecialField>
    @ </Note>
    @ </store>
@ true : to show the decrypted value for password field
@ false : to show blank value for password field
By the code below is possible to verify the status of the attribute:
    tcProvisioningOperationsIntf taskOperations = (tcProvisioningOperationsIntf) this.getUtilityOperations("Thor.API.Operations.tcProvisioningOperationsIntf");
    Map<String, String> filtro = new HashMap<String, String>();
    //filtro.put("Objects.Name", "Sistema Atlys");
    //filtro.put("Objects.Name", "Sistema PP");
    statusFiltro[0] = "Pending";
    tcResultSet tarefas = taskOperations.findAllOpenProvisioningTasks(filtro, statusFiltro);
    for(int i=0; i<tarefas.getRowCount(); i++)
         tarefas.goToRow(i);
         long tKey = tarefas.getLongValue("Process Instance.Task Details.Key");
         System.out.println("isTaskNoteEncrypted: [" + this.taskOperations.isTaskNoteEncrypted(tKey) + "]");
    RESULTS:
    - "Sistema Atlys" resultado: "isTaskNoteEncrypted: [true]"
    - "Sistema PP" resultado: "isTaskNoteEncrypted: [false]"
Can I consider that bug the same I have faced?
And the problem now is, How can I configure the Note to be displaying not encrypted results? Is this a system property (OIM)??

  • IPhone 4 and iPhoto 9 import issue

I just bought an iPhone 4 to replace my iPhone 3GS a few days ago. I finally had a chance to try its camera this weekend. Much to my surprise, all the photos I imported into iPhoto 9 on my MacBook Pro lost their XIF and geotag data once they landed in my iPhoto 9 library. I deleted the photos from my iPhone 4 so I couldn't go back to verify that the information was there. So tonight, I went out for a walk and I shot a few more photos with my iPhone 4. Instead of importing them into iPhoto 9, I used Image Capture to import them from my iPhone 4 into my MBP's Pictures folder. Then I checked and all the XIF and geotag data survived the transfer. I then imported the photos into iPhoto 9 by dragging them onto its icon in the Dock. I then was able to view the XIF and geotag data from within iPhoto 9.
So my question is, why can't iPhoto 9 import the XIF and geotag data in photos directly from the iPhone 4? Is there any way I can fix this via some optional setting or am I do I need to wait for Apple to resolve this issue?

I don't have any problem importing photos from my iPhone 4 with iPhoto '09 (v 8.1.2)--it just works, so I really don't know what might be going wrong. I import by selecting my iPhone 4 in the iPhoto Devices and then select the ones I want to import and click on import selected. It has never failed to also import the EXIF data including the geolocation/camera info.

  • How do i reinstall my system 10.8-Having Epson Printer Issues

I am having a massive problem with an Epson Stylus C88+ printer that used to work with my new iMac Late 2012 computer using System 10.8.4
Recently there was an update V2.5 for this printer. Once I installed the update the printer stopped working.
I now get a Epson Filter Failed error message and have tried everything to resolve it I could find on the internet.
Something in that upgrade killed the printer for me and the only thing I could find that I didn't do was to reinstall my system 10.8.
Does anyone know and easy way to do this which won't cause me too much pain?  Or is there another fix for this issue?
    The printing error message is:
Stopped - 'Filter' failed, 1 page
I tried to rename the computer in the Sharing pref, then went to the Printer and Scan preferences to make sure this is the name I used as well and nothing works.

Open the Sharing pane in System Preferences. If the Computer Name is not set, enter a name. You may first have to click the lock icon in the lower left corner and authenticate to unlock the settings. According to one report, the name must be set to "machd" (without the quotes) in order to get the printer working. After that, you may be able to change the name.
The bug that causes the crash seems to be fixed in the latest version of the Epson printing software.

  • Iphoto 11 rotation issue.. Please Help..

I'm having an issue with iphoto with the way it's displaying images. For some reason when I view the contents of an event it will rotate and stretch images randomly even when the thumbnails are displayed the correct way round. There seems to be no reason why this is happening,
I have been through all the rebuild options in iphoto and have rebuilt the library using iphoto library manager but it's still happening.
Sometimes when I launch iphoto it isn't an issue straight away, I have to look through several events before it starts rotating images...

One the chance that it might be a preference file in your account that is the culprit first start with this:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
or with Lion and Mt. Lion from the User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto/
    Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE 1: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
If that doesn't do the job it could be a preference file other than iPhoto's.  Here's how to test that:
    Trouble Shooting Preferences
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
    1 - close all applications.
2 - open your Home/Library folder and Option-drag (copy) the Preferences folder to the Desktop.
3 - select the contents of your Home/Library/Preferences folder and drag them into the Trash bin in the Dock.  You will be asked to provide your Admin password.
    4 - reboot.
5 - run the application again and determine if the problems is fixed
6 - If the problem is fixed:
    A - open the working Home/Library/Preferences folder.
B - Open the Preferences  folder on the Desktop, select all of the contents and drag them into the working Home/Library/Preferences folder.
C - When the Copy window pops up check the "Apply to All" check box and then click on the Don't Replace or Skip button.
    D - reboot.
7 - If the problem is NOT fixed, drag the contents of the Preference folder on the Desktop into the Home/Library/Preference folder and replace the entire contents that were created by clicking on Replace.
    8 - reboot.

  • ECC 6.0 to XI 3.0 e-Filing GB EOYR Interface Issue

    Hi,
We are experiencing the following issue when attempting to file EOYR returns via our XI system.
We have other scenarios (INYMV) that work perfectly via the same technical setup.
The config in our DEV ECC to XI 3.0 system works for EOYR!
The error seems to be in the proxy code of HR_GB_EFO_EOYR_OUT in the ECC system, we have traced in debug and it fails to send the message payload.
The following error is then thrown and is visible in the PB2A transaction:
Error during XML => ABAP conversion (Response Message; error
      ID: CX_ST_MATCH_ELEMENT; (/1SAI/TXSA28012A0D96A87DF29D4 XML
Bytepos.: 83  XML Path: GovTalkMessage(1) Error Text: Syste
    m expected the element '{http://sap.com/xi/HR}GovTalkMessage
I can't find any other errors, even with Integration Server tracing set to 3 in both ECC and XI.
It looks like a namespace issue but the interface (e-Filing) is distrubuted by SAP themselves, we just import the XI Content.
We have ECC HRSP 52 applied (ECC 6.00), XI Content for e-Filing SP17 and XI HR Content SP50.
These all seem to be compatible according to the notes within notes within notes that I've found.
Any other suggestions??  How can I trace this?
Does the SLD Content have any effect on this?
We have a call open with SAP for 6 days now and I'm considering re-doing the work in DEV and transporting through to PRD XI again.

    SAP fixed for us.

  • Acrobat X interface issues (particularly in commenting)

I have not been very impressed with the interface changes with Acrobat. I don't mind that they have adopted a new accordion style interface so much (Although the do seem to be reinventing the wheel with each release). What I do see as a major issue is that the desicion to go with a non native interface causes it to be very quirky, sluggish and unpredictable.
I do a LOT of annual reports. And I have always found the PDF markup to be invaluable for alterations. I used to be able to receive a PDF with 800+ comments and display them on the side and check them off one by one with ease! But now since the upgrade the commenting panel has caused me to be about half as productive.
    * If I right hand click a comment to mark it as "completed" I have to move quite slowly and precicly over the contextual submens and sometimes click on "complete" multiple times. If I move over things too quickly the menu dissapears.
    * I uesed to be able to filter completed comments as I go so that once I checked it, it dissapeard from the list making it easy to keep trak of what had been completed and what needed completing. Now to acheive this I have to force the filter to refresh by turning the filter of and on again each time I want to get rid of completed comments. This is a killer
    * Scrolling through the comments in the comments pannel is the worst! Sometimes I might be just clickin on a comment and for no reason Acrobat X will srcoll up or down hiding your next comment. If you click on the scroll bar arrows I tend to find they have poor reponsivness and you will find yourself lost in the list very quickly. And dont even bother with your mouse scrolling wheel... it looks like it is trying to scroll but is working against natual forces.
Very dissapointed with this release. Adobe software should be like a workhorse, able to handle heavy loads... however these silly atsthetic choices seem to be lagging the most basic tools down.
I dont know... I am just feeling realy let down about this. This software is not cheap!

You probably don't want to hear this but some of this things have been improved in Acrobat XI - specifically you can undock the Comments list. Please feel free to voice your comments and concerns here in the Feature Request/Bug Report Form.

  • Macbook MiniVGA Display port Epson Projector Issues "Not Supported"

I have been using my Macbook OSx 10.8.5 with a Rocketfish Mini Displayport to VGA adapter (RF-AP307) connected to an Epson Projector (Powerlite83plus) for 3 weeks and just the other day a blue screen appeared on the projector stating that the computer is 'Not Supported'.
    Actions I have already tried:
    - turned on and off mirroring
    - changed the refresh rate
    - unplugged VGA adapter and restarted the computer
    - attempted to install firmware update for MiniVGA display port following directions located here: http://support.apple.com/downloads/_Mini_DisplayPort_to_VGA_Firmware_Update (update failed because VGA adapter not found)
Anyone having similar issues and have some additional solutions? Need a solution fast, if I need to buy another VGA adapter I will but would rather not have to spend the money again...
    Thanks

"- attempted to install firmware update for MiniVGA display port following directions located here: http://support.apple.com/downloads/_Mini_DisplayPort_to_VGA_Firmware_Update (update failed because VGA adapter not found)"
That update is for the Apple branded adapter, not the Rocketfish adapter.
I have the same adapter as you and have had no problems.  That doesn't really mean anything other than the part does work with many types of projectors.  Yours could have failed, though.  Does it work on any other display or projector?

    Dear Experts,
I've been trying to connect with Client system for a couple of weeks now to debug and iron-out a possible issue we uncovered in our parallel EDI transmissions from our SAP system back on April 29th and 30th. Hi,
What systems are you trying to connect. ECC with SAP WMS(Decentral)?.....In this case you will have to look at the Distribution model between the systems. Are you using any Middleware?

  • IPhoto 11 Migration Issue: Unique Circumstance (Boot Drive Crash)

    Hello good folk,
I have a migration issue with iPhoto 11 due to a boot drive crash.
The issue: I have imported my library database file and all of my 25,000 photos into a clean install of iPhoto 11. All of the events are imported, but all of the photos appear in the very first event. All of the other events are populated with the correct number of photos, but none of the actual photos have been linked.
I know all about holding down option-click and option-command-click to rebuild libraries, directories, etc., as I have read about in multiple posts. But many tries haven't gotten me to success.
Any suggestions? What am I doing wrong?
Here are the specifics of the chain of events, in case it helps [sorry for all the details, but it might help]:
    1. Was running iPhoto 09 in 10.5.8, my boot drive bit the dust.
    2. I was able to save most of my data from the drive. Due to corrupt files, I was forced to back up unconventionally: instead of saving the entire library, which I could not do, I unpacked the iPhoto library and, from the Originals folder, I copied over entire year folders (2002, 2003, etc.) onto a non-boot drive. This worked.
    3. I then installed the new boot HD and installed 10.6.X.
    4. I installed fresh copy of iPhoto 11 and updated the software.
    5. In iPhoto 11, I threw away the database and replaced with the recovered database from the old boot drive.
    6. I copied all of the year photo folders (from the "Originals" folder on the manual backup disk) wholesale into the "Masters" folder of the new iPhoto 11 install.
    7. [I could not use Migration Assistant to do this because Migration Assistant, for some reason, will not migrate from a non-boot drive that's installed internally on my Mac Pro.]
    8. I option-command-clicked open iPhoto and selected:
    -- Repair iPhoto Library Database
    -- Rebuild small thumbnails
    -- Rebuild all thumbnails
    -- Examine/repair permissions.
    9. I did this twice. The first time, the events from the database installed correctly, but the photos did not show up. The second time, after a very long time rebuilding the thumbnails, all 25,000 photos showed up, but in the very first event. All of the other events remain blank.
    10. I then did an option-click, and chose to open the main library. I did that, but nothing changed.
    11. Perhaps interestingly, when I option-click, it says that my manual backup from my internal drive -- where I did my emergency backup -- remains as the "default." The main iPhoto library is not the default.
    12. That's where I am now. I really don't want to have to install manually without the data, when all of the events imported fine, and all of the photos are there, but in the wrong event.
Sorry for the long-windedness. Any suggestions are much appreciated!
    John

I have imported my library database file and all of my 25,000 photos into a clean install of iPhoto 11. All of the events are imported, but all of the photos appear in the very first event. All of the other events are populated with the correct number of photos, but none of the actual photos have been linked.
You can not "Import" an old iPhoto library into another iPhoto library - it is not the way it works - if your old iPhoto library is available you simply place it in the pictures folder and launch iPhoto - no importing involved
you can not piece together an iPhoto library - which is why having a backup up is critical to avoid lost data
If your iPhoto library is not available as a single entity then you will have to start over and create a new library and import the photos into it losing all edits, metadata changes, etc
And if the future remember to always backup soon and often -it is the only way to avoid data loss due to failures - hardware, software and/or human
