Iphoto error

I am getting this error when trying to load my photos from my iphone 5 into my imac iphoto app  iPhoto cannot import your photos because there was a problem downloading an image.

With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a solution.  We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
what system version is on your iPhone?
what error message are you getting? Post a screenshot of it or give it exactly as you see it.
what fixes have you tried?
where is your library located?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive?

  • Intermittent iPhoto error message

Backup 3.1.2 will not scan and backup my iPhoto library (Successfully narrowed it down to the iPhoto library)...Rebuilt iPhoto permissions, thumbs, database, etc. Now, when I start iPhoto, it goes straight to my trash (which is empty)...I select PHOTOS, and they are all there, thankfully! So I close iPhoto, re-open it, and it goes right to Trash again.
Also, I now occasionally get this iPhoto error: "An error occurred while trying to save your photo library...Some recent changes may be lost. Make sure your hard disk has enough space and that iPhoto is able to access the iPhoto Library. I hit ok and Iphoto carries on.
This problem occurred in Tiger, and now in Leopard...I did an OS X 10.5 Upgrade...chose "Upgrade" and not Archive and Intstall, etc.
So, I think I have a severe iPhoto 08 problem which is causing my Backup to fail. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Why is your library in the trash?
Try these in order - from best option on down...
    1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
    2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums back.
    3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

  • IPhoto error, won't open, says it needs the most recent version

I have an early 2009 mac pro desktop with 6 megs of ram. iPhoto error, won't open, says it needs the most recent version to work but the most recent version won't work either because I have Mountain Lion. I downloaded iPhoto from the App store and the store said "you can't download the most recent version because you don't have Mavericks - would you like to download an older version?" So I said yes and downloaded it. It is actually the Mavericks version that downloads anyway. So I used an older version from my other computer and updated it to version 9.4.3. When I try to open it it says you need the most recent version. My library is on an external drive which was downgraded from Mavericks back to Mountain Lion because Mavericks wouldn't work properly on my computer. Now no version will open.
What can I do? Thank you for your help in advance.

    The exact error message is:
THe library "iPhoto Library" cannot be opened. To open it, you must upgrade to the latest version of iPhoto. Then the Quit button is at the bottom of the dialog box.
I did install iPhoto 9.5 when I installed Mavericks, Keep in mind that all of my photos are not on the boot drive but they are on an external drive. I then got rid of Mavericks and did a fresh install of Mountain Lion then I copied the contents of a previous drive that only had Mountain Lion on it. 9.5 wouldn't open in Mountain Lion so I copied an older version from another computer and updated it to 9.4.3. 9.4.3 says you must upgrade to the latest version and 9.5 says you need an older version. So I am stuck now.

  • Iphoto error message: unable to assemble book

iphoto error message: "unable to assemble book" when i'm trying to place an order.

Boot into Safe Mode,  Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode, and create a preview copy as described in this Apple document,  .  If that is successful preview the PDF copy before ordering the book from the Safe Mode.
Keep the PDF  file to compare with the printed copy when you receive it.
By any chance are you ordering an XL sized book?

  • Tried burning photos to DVD from iphoto - error message

Burned several hundred photos without any issues, but now have tried unsuccessfully to do the last 300 photos - each time I enter a disc and hit burn, I get an error message: "The burn to the MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-898 drive failed. The disc drive didn’t respond properly and can’t recover or retry". Tried burning them in smaller groups of albums and having no luck. Also tried rebooting.
    Using iPhoto 8.1.2.
    Any suggestions?

I ran into this exact issue, trying to archive some iPhone videos from my iPhoto Library. Even though iPhoto tells you how much space you have left on the disc, it must not count any additional data it has to burn onto that disc. I finally got my disc to burn by removing videos, freeing up around 500 MB from the DVD.
This is very frustrating behavior not only because the error message says nothing about disc space, but also because iPhoto gives you a user interface for keeping an eye on how much space is left on your disc but it doesn't tell you the whole story.

  • .Issue with creating a photo book in Iphoto error message states some frames are missing images, but I've checked each one and from I can see they are all filled in. It won't let my buy the book though

Having an Issue with Creating a photo Book in Iphoto. I continue to get an error message when clicking on "Buy Book" The error indicates that I'm missing a frame or frames from the book. I've checked this many times and cannot locate the issue. The book appears to be complete from my perspective. What can I do now? I worked very hard on this and would hate to lose it all.

How did you check the book? Did you preview it?
    See:
iPhoto, Aperture: Previewing an order in iPhoto or Aperture
    Is that the message?
"your book seems to have frames on one or more pages that do not contain photos. You must either change the layout of those pages or place photos in those frames before you can buy this book."
The most common reason for this error is, that you have used a page layout that needs a background photo and you have not yet added the backdrop. Then the book is still showing some default grayscale image.
Check, if one of your page layouts is using this background:
Then you need to add a photo to the background of the page.

  • Unable to order prints anymore... weird iPhoto error

    Hey there,
I'm unable to order prints from iPhoto anymore, it started before the 8.1.1 update. When I start to upload photos to the Kodak server, after 2Mo is transmitted it bugs. In the console I have the following mysterious error :
    25/11/09 23:11:00 iPhoto[6419] PUT /Documents/49519329/image_0.jpg (FAILED), httpStatusCode:402, errorType:100, transactionState:5, txnId:A749349E-5655-4459-8EC0-E92E465EC788, auto-retries=0, manual-retries=0
    25/11/09 23:11:00 iPhoto[6419] ISCoordinator responseFromUploadFiles: error...
    MessengerContext = <ISNewMessengerContext: 0x199b9fa0>;
    Retry = YES;
    Status = ERROR;
    StatusCode = 402;
    }

I wondered, reading the output from the Error you posted, if it was having trouble finding particular photos:
    /Documents/49519329/image_0.jpg (FAILED)
How are you uploading to the Kodak Server? With an app, a plugin to iPhoto, some other way?

  • IPhoto ERROR PLEASE HELP!

This is the error message I got after upgrade:
"your iPhoto library is either in use by another application or has become unreadable
Shut down and restart your computer, and then open iPhoto again. If the problem persists, try rebuilding your photo library. To do this, quit iPhoto, and then reopen it while keeping the Option and Command keys pressed. You can also try restoring your photo library from a backup.
This is the message i get after paying apple for lion upgrade and iphot upgrade. Can you now help fix??

    1. Make a back up.
    Most Simple Back Up
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
    Slightly more complex:
Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically. Examples of such apps: Chronosync or DejaVu . But are many others. Search on MacUpdate
    2.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Importing iPhoto to Aperture, retouches done in iPhoto error

I seem to have a bit of strange problem with modified pictures after they are imported in A3.
I am using Iphoto 8.1.1 and have just bought Aperture 3. I decided to import all my iphoto pictures using the import iphoto library function.
I noticed that all images that had (in iphoto) been edited using the retouch function to reduce blemishes have problems in Aperture. The problem appears to be where the brush was used is now pixilated in that area and it just looks like a cluster of "noise". This only seems to happen when I used the import iphoto library. I tried to replicate the issue importing some of the same pictures individually and there was no issue. Than I made a new library tried to import iphoto library and same issue ones again. Exporting the picture out of aperture keeps this error. It's quite a worry as I have several hundred of these pictures and I am not sure what to do. Any suggestions?

You didn't do anything wrong at import. The master file is whatever you imported, be it jpeg or png or something else. Neither iPhoto nor Aperture actually change your import in any way. Its stored exactly as when imported. So if you wish to discard the iPhoto retouches and then import from iPhoto you can.
That is not what you wanted to do but I cant suggest a fix.

  • What to do in iPhoto, error when sending pics email, username and password not recognized

I have imported photos from my camera to iphotos, cool it works great.
But why when I want to email the pics, I get an error message that states
my username and password arent recognized??

In the iPhoto preferences ==> accounts delete the account and renter it
Or better yet IMHO set Apple mail as your email client in the iPhoto preferences rather than iPhoto

  • Iphoto error cannot find volume

I am getting this error when importing from my camera. I do have the setting selected in iphoto to automatically copy to library on import. I suspect the problem might be coming from my camera that has rolled over 10,000 pics, so now the file number seems to be starting at 1 again. So on import it says cannot find volume but I wonder if it is getting confused bc the file already exists? I tried renaming the pics before importing, and that seems to work, but, now the old pics that had that file name say cannot find volume. Anyone experienced this? Now question on trying to recover. When I recover from time machine, I am clicking iphoto and recover but it doens't seem to change. Do i have to select the library instead? Also another question. The date I want to recover from I have since done some books, calendars, etc under the 'keepsakes' list. How can I copy those so I can get them back after recover?
    Many thanks.

This sometimes occurs if you’re importing a file into iPhoto and there’s already a file there with the same name. Digital cameras can produce many, many files with the same name over their lifetime, so it’s not uncommon to have several files called IMG_00543.JPG, for instance. Now you want to import one also called this.
What happens is that iPhoto compares the two files to check for duplicates. However, if iPhoto cannot find the file already in the database for comparison, then you get this message. It suggests that your database is damaged because iPhoto has lost track of this (or these) similarly named files.
A simple test is to rename the file you are importing - just add a character - IMG_00543a.JPG for instance. You've already done this test and it proves the hypothesis.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • IPhoto - Error Sharing Photo on Facebook

    Hi,
Recently I have been receieving "nsurlerrordomain error -1" error while sharing photos from iPhoto (v 9.4.2) to my Facebook account.
I tried removing and adding the FB account the issue persists.
    Kindly advice.

You might try this: Mac OS X: Resetting the SyncServices folder
Otherwise the workaround that works for all is to export the photos to a folder on the Desktop and upload to Facebook with your browser until a fix is found.

Change the language of OS in preferences for any other, reboot your mac, open mac app store and updates would show up. Somehow worked for me and my friends Then you can go back to your orginal language.

  • Tried to move iphoto ~ error

I followed a youtube video to figure out how to move my iphoto library to my external, as I desperately need space on my hard drive, and after a couple minutes of the library copying onto the external, the following message pops up: The finder cannnot complete the operation because some data in "iphoto library" can not be read or written (Error Code -36). Help!

I too am having the same problem. I just purchased a WD My Passport, have updated the firmware, and have formatted it Mac OS Extended (Journaled). I can move files to and from it without a problem. I now desire to copy my Mac's Photo Library to it, but when I do it runs for a little while and then the error 43 pops up. Whenever this happens, I notice that the drive has been ejected and the indicator light on the drive is off.
I've run disk repairs on my Mac, I've run WD's SmartWare disk diagnostics on the external drive, and I've tried repairing my iPhoto library but it just gets stuck at 66% (I deleted the plist and the cache files and while iPhoto works great with the Photo Library, it still hangs while repairing the library database).
    Any ideas? Thanks!
