Iphoto event titles

I seem to be unable to add event titles either from the main event window (all events displayed), or even from the top event title when an event is selected. In either situation I can be in the middle of typing the event title and it throws me out of edit, especially when I use the space bar between words, or certain characters like the "P". This is really irritating and was not a problem in iPhoto 09. The only place I have found where I can type an event title withing this happening is in the info window.
What is wrong?

Was anything else missing like albums, books, slideshows, etc. Make a temporary, backup copy of the library and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • IPhoto event titles collapsed to one title

I was preparing to email some photos, opened a blank email, went back to iphoto & saw that suddenly my many event titles that had been there a minute ago & that organize nearly 3,000 photos with very specific, very important titles have all disappeared leaving one event title.
I have hundreds of pages of photographed journals & letters that will take days to reorganize. I don't have Time Machine.  iphoto has never been buggy before. Was it a recent update? Is there anyway of getting this information back? I'm devastated (not to mention really, really ******).
    Please help!
    I have iphoto '09 version 8.1.2 (424)

  • My iphoto event titles are missing

My iphoto was acting strange so I did a reinstall, and now all of my events are gone.  I'm hoping one of you can help me recover this loss.  Hellllp!

    Restore from your back up.

  • IPhoto 11 event titles gone?, iPhoto 11 event titles gone?

I upgraded online to iPhoto11.  While working I lost all Event Titles, a message said "reinstall iPhoto11", how would I do that?
It happened when I chose select all in one event.  It selected over 14,000 photos, I unselected them before doing anything and that is when I lost all event titles.  ANY SUGGESTIONS in laymans language would be appreciated.

    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
    2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List* there.
For older versions that have been installed from Disk you'll need these additional steps:
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 or later they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
*Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

  • How do I stop iPhoto from repeatedly closing Event title boxes when I am in the middle of entering a title?

How do I stop iPhoto from repeatedly closing Event title boxes when I am in the middle of entering a title?
This problem started several months ago. I have tried typing more slowly and typing faster; neither help.
It now takes me about four attempts to complete a title of about twelve characters, achieving about three characters on each attempt.
    I am running iPhoto 9.4.3 on OS X 10.8.3 on a 2.93 GHz Intel Quad-Core i7 iMac with 12 GB of DDR3 memory.

    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • Iphoto has lost event titles

When I did my last back up I also upgraded iTunes.  I now find that iPhoto has lost all the event titles - originally merging all events into one, but AUTOSPLIT has separated them, although not into the original list, and dates only - no titles.  I have a copy of the originals on a back up drive.  Is it possible to restore from that and recover the titles?

I have a copy of the originals on a back up drive.  Is it possible to restore from that and recover the titles?
The Event titles? You can't restore them unless you have a back up of the iPhoto Library and not just the original files. Do you?

  • IPhoto-View Event Titles

In +View Menu+ there's an option called +Event Titles+ which is active only if you select Photo or +Last Import+ in the Source List.
I have made some smart albums and when you select one of them the +Event Tiles+ menu is always inactive. But in some of them (it seems the first ones I made) you view the photos as if the +Event Titles+ option was on. In others (the most recent) you view them as if the option is off. I have try new Smart Albums and it seems that they always show without Event Titles. If I duplicate a Smart Album where you see Event Titles the result is the same Smart Album but now without Event Titles.
I'm mising something, can you help me?

Thanks, know I understand. And now I know a way to have the Even Titles option active in Smart Albums that are not based in Events. Just make an Smart Album based in Events and then edit it and change the matching condition to the one you really want. Although the new criteria is not based in Events the Event title view will remain. But if you now duplicate the smart album, the copy will display with no event titles.

  • I have lost all my iPhoto events after upgrading to Photos Version 1.0 (209.52.0)

I have lost all my iPhoto events. Or, am I missing something here?
I just upgraded to the new Photos from iPhoto on my iMac. The new Photos app imported and reorganized my photos by date and mixed all of my previous well organized iPhoto events into a jumbled lot.
How can I re-sort these photos back into an Event type of organization?
I think I had several thousand events.

Moments are the new Events.  All of your events in iPhoto are not Moments in Photo and were also brought over as an album. Open the sidebar with the Option+Command+S key combination and look in the folder titled "iPhoto Events".
There's a way to simulate events in Photos.
When the library was first migrated there was a folder created titled iPhoto Events and all migrated iPhoto Events are represented by an album in the folder.
When new photos are imported into the Photos library go to the Last Import smart album, select all the photos and use the File ➙ New Album menu option or use the key combination Command+N.  Name it as desired.  It will appear just above the iPhoto Events folder where you can drag it into the folder
When you click on the iPhoto Events folder you'll get a simulated iPhoto Events window.

  • How do I resequence image filenames in an iPhoto event?

My system configuration:  iMac i7 (2013), OS X Yosemite 10.10.1, current iPhoto app,  all updates installed, and iPhone 6 Plus.
Within an event in iPhoto on my iMac, I have 300 photos.  I have taken photos at various times within a two year period.  After taking the photos I imported them into the iPhoto event whenever it was convenient.  Now I have many photos in that particular event that have various unsequenced image file names such as IMG_0250, IMG_0262, IMG_0271, etc, etc.  I am worried that sometime a photo that I take with my iPhone 6 Plus will have a duplicate image filename again such as IMG_0262.  I do not want the duplicate IMG_0262 on the iPhone to overwrite the previous IMG_0262 file on the iMac.  Since my photo filenames are unsequenced, I would like to sequence them and begin their names with IMG_0001, IMG_0002, etc, etc.  I resequenced the image names once before in another event, but do not remember the procedure I used.  Can someone please assist this old man.  Thanks

    1. These are filenames created by your camera, not image titles.
    2. A new photo with the same name will not ever overwrite another one. The file management on iphoto is smarter than that.
    3. You can change the title of a photos using the Photos -> Batch Change command.

  • Event titles gone after external backup. How do I get them back?

My husband backed up my photos today from my iphoto 09 onto an external hard drive.  Now I only have 11 even ttitles from the past 5 years or so.  And 10 of those events only have 1 or 2 pictures.  The first event is titled Nov. 27, 2003 - July 28, 2012.  All of my pictures seem to be there and in I think they are even in order but none of the event titles are there...making it very difficult to sort through them and find pictures.  I have over 17,000 pics so I really need those titles.  Any suggestions on how to get them back?  My husband swears he didn't do anything during the backup process to cause this problem.

I am sorry. I am new at this.
    he opened my iphoto
in the Library he selected "photos"
He then went to the Edit menu and selected "select all"
He then went to Edit and selected "copy"
Then he had opened a "new folder" on my desktop
He openened that new folder and right clicked in the middle of it to get a menu and selected "paste items"
then he copied from that folder to the external hard drive.
He tells me he had trouble copying all the pictures directly from iphoto to the external hard drive. Something about how it was taking far longer than it should have to show progress and it looked like it was not working properly. So he stopped that and then did what I described above.
I hope I explained that right. I am so thankful for your help.

  • IPhoto events and Aperture projects

What happens to iPhoto events and Aperture projects in Photos? I have read that Events and Projects are not available in the new Photos app. My library is entirely organised this way. If Photos is organised just by date, then will all my years of sorting be lost?

If, like me, you used Events as your main organizational tool - you will really be disappointed in Photos.   My Albums transferred, but I had over 100,000 pictures, taken over 13 years and organized mostly by the "Event/Title" line above each group of pictures.   Those titles did not transfer to Photos.
They do have an Album titled iPhoto Events and a lot of events are in there - however, not all and they are in a completely random order.   In my case, over 3,000 events with absolutely no way to find anything other than scroll through or possibly search.  Also, at this time there is no way to move forward with Event organization as it does not exist.   There is not way in Photos to label each days photos with an event or title.   It's like one big huge shoebox with date order the only organization.  Ridiculous.
I mostly use a 35mm SLR Camera without any GPS designation - so I now have 109,000 photos in one big list organized by nothing but the date taken or scanned.
I have also scanned a lot of family history photos and old family photos - fortunately I put most of those in Albums - otherwise Photos is very excited to just list them according to the date I scanned them which has nothing to do with the content of the photo.
Definitely back up your iPhoto before you do anything.   I am looking for an outside program that will continue my organization and not throw everything out on the whim of people who just use photos for social media and sharing.   This change made me realize that Apple has no intention of creating and keeping a serious organization system for amateur and professional photographers who have a large number of files that need to be organized and kept for many years.

  • Importing iPhoto Events as individual Projects

    Hi,
I am attempting to import my iPhoto library into Aperture 3 a single event at a time, since I am unable to import my entire library without Aperture crashing. However, when I import the events, they come across as folders instead of Projects so that when I look at the Projects view, I only see 1 "event."
Is there a way to have each event come across as a separate Project with the Event name?
    Thanks,
    George

    So here's what happens:
If I import the entire iPhoto Library, I get a blue Folder titled "iPhoto Library", with a blue subfolder titled "Events" with contains all the iPhoto events with yellow things next to them that look like yellow crate boxes. This is good and is the format I would like to maintain.
However, when I drag an individual event, I get that yellow "box" with a title "Untitled Project" and a blue Album below it with the title of the event. This doesn't work because when I look at the Projects/Events view, all I see is the "Untitled Project" name. Also, it clutters up the left side with an "Untitled Project" title followed by the real Event name for every single event.
If I drag a group of events over, I still get only 1 Project with the title "Untitled Project" with all the iPhoto Events listed below it in blue Albums. This is the worse combination because in the Projects view I only see one Project/Event.
I hope I'm making sense, because after struggling with this for hours, my mind is starting to spin.

  • Ios8 and syncing iPhoto Events

Prior to iOS8 the photo events synced from iPhoto were in alphabetical order (same as I have in iPhoto) on my phone.  Now they are in some random order.  Makes it difficult to to find an event by event title.  I cannot find any settings for this.  I tried removing all photos off from phone and re-sync but they again appear in a random order - different than before - but still random.  And the event KEY PHOTO that shows in iPhoto also no longer appears as the same key photo for the event on the iPhone.  Help!!

I Had the same issue when iOS 7 came out (iPhone 5), it seemed to be resolved in a minor update, but now I have the issue again with ios8 and the iPhone 6 plus.
All support for this issue tells you to go into iphoto and sort events by title. Now let's have an answer from someone who's not in kindergarten please ;-)

  • Import iPhotos Events into Photos and maintain previous structure?

I'm a long time iPhoto user and have about 45,000 photos from over a 30 year period that are organized into separate events with the event title being Year-Month-Activity.  Such as "2015-4 Easter".  It was painful to create those events but once they were done it was fantastic. We can quickly and easily pull-up all photos from my daughter's first birthday from 25 years ago, or look at all of her birthday photos. I probably have a thousand events and want to maintain that event structure when I move the library to any new photo program.
I'd like to use the new Photos program but when I imported the photos using one of my 'test' Macbooks ,Photos did (mostly) get it right and maintained most of the events in an album it created called iPhoto events.  That's fine for the legacy photos I'm importing.  HOWEVER as far as I can tell, from that point-on I can no longer add an Event and title it the same way in that iPhoto Events album.  So once I move my legacy library to Photos, the old stuff will be in the IPhotos Events photos and the new photos will have to be placed into a new Album.  So it will force me to split them.
Where this is important is when I point my Plex Server at them so that my extended family can view all of our old photos using Plex.  Currently I can just point Plex to the iPhotos library and it maintains the Events structure when it shows them on the TV.....which is awesome.  Family can see individual events and open just the one they want to see. Not sure how Plex is going to deal with the new Photos app but that's a question for me to post on their forum...
My question for this forum: is there a way to directly import legacy iPhoto events into Photos automatically so that each Event now becomes an Album in Photos with the old Event name?
    Thanks!

Moments in Photo are the new Events.  There's a way to simulate events in Photos.
When the library was first migrated there was a folder created titled iPhoto Events and all migrated iPhoto Events are represented by an album in the folder. To open the sidebar if it's not open use the Option+Command+S key combination.
When new photos are imported into the Photos library go to the Last Import smart album, select all the photos and use the File ➙ New Album menu option or use the key combination Command+N.  Name it as desired.  It will appear just above the iPhoto Events folder where you can drag it into the iPhoto Events folder
When you click on the iPhoto Events folder you'll get a simulated iPhoto Events window.
The downside to the simulation is that the Album/Events can only be sorted automatically by Title. But they can be sorted manually.
Ask Apple for more sorting options and/or other features in Photos via https://www.apple.com/feedback/photos.html.

  • Change iPhoto events in Aperture to date order, instead of ABC?

    Hi
I like how Aperture 2.0 works with iPhoto imports better, listing events. However, it lists my iPhoto events in ABC order. I'd much prefer them to be listed in order by the date they were shot or whatever like in iPhoto. Anyway to do this?
    Thanks so much!!!
