IPhoto events are empty now

I just bought a new iMac and imported about 5,000 pictures into iPhoto. They were there fine but now they are no longer showing. The events are all still showing but are empty now. What could have happened and is there anyway to find my pictures? Some albums are still showing with pictures in them from an earlier import but not the ones from my most recent import.

You need to start a new thread as your problem is nothing the same as the thread you threadjacked
It also is not helpful to threadjack multiple threads - simpy start a new thread, supply the information needed to help you (what you have (version), what is happening and what recently changed)

  • New events are empty, should contain photos

This morning, I downloaded a bunch of vacation photos to iPhoto.  I created several events (which are showing in iPhoto) and I even used some of the photos this morning in a printed document.  Since then, my husband signed onto the mac mini as a guest...and then I agreed to the iTunes update this morning.  Now, the events are showing in my library but no photos are included in any of them.  And of course I deleted the photos from my cameras.  I have iPhoto 11 and a mac mini running Mac OS X version 10.7.5.  I'm not well versed in computer language, but I'm really hoping to figure out what the heck happened to my photos.  Any help is greatly appreciated!

Make a temporary, backup copy of your library if you don't already have one (Control-click on the library and select Duplicate from the contextual menu) and  apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • IPhoto Albums are empty

Last time I opened iphoto, all of my photos are in the library, but my albums are empty. Any ideas

    aphale:
Do you see the photos when you click on the thumbnails in iPhoto? It may be that the Library.iPhoto preference file has been damaged. Try the following: move the AlbumData.xml file to the desktop and then launch iPhoto. If the library's dB file is not damaged it should rebuild the .xml file with your albums. If that file is damaged you'll have to recreate your albums.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • IMPRT "events" are empty after sync

when I synced my iPad 3rd generation with my iMac recently - the first time since purchasing the iPad 3rdG - a SECOND mystery annoyance cropped up (see below for link to the 1st ongoing annoyance).
Syncing my Photos, I select "Selected" events to sync.
    Those events are just dandy.
However, many of the "events" named ###IMPRT show on the iPad in the Events area, but they're completely empty.
I can't delete them from the iPad.
HOW do I clean things up? This is aggravating.

I've resynced my iPad with my computer, hoping that maybe these phantom, empty IMPRT "events" would disappear in the process, but no.
When I open Photos on my iPad and go to Events, among the IMPRT events folders, are dozens of empty folders, each labeled with a number  followed by IMPRT or with a date.
    I can't delete them.
I don't even care any more about WHY this is happening (I gave up trying to understand iCloud and Apple) I just want to know  WHAT CAN I DO? I would like to clean things up...the fact that Apple allows users so little control over things like this drives me crazy.
    Please help.

  • Imovie '11 mixed up my events and some events are empty in iMOvie.

iMovie '11 arranges my movies by date and they are all mixed up now.  For example, 2012 December has events 120708 (a july 2012 event) and 120711, 120812.  Also when I open over half the events, all the clips are missing.
    1.  I have all movies on external hard drive
    2.  I have just added all photos (221 GB) to the same 2TB hard drive
    3.  Movie events are missing when I try to look at them in iMovie but if I click open my hard drive (like in finder) I can see the clips in each movie event there.
    Thanks for your input,
    Lara

CanyonMan's comments worked in another line.
rename the iEvent and it will Optomize, the video appears and iMovie reorders them by date.
All I did was change one letter in each event to a capital and it took another look and fixed it.
    thanks CanyonMan

  • IPhoto Events are shown as empty

After importing over 26,000 photos from external WD HD and checking them OK on Library menu, I named faces in all 65 events created automaticaly. After IPhoto crashed at the end of procedure and I reopened, all events were shown as empty but with correct dates. No faces were added to list and total amount of photos went back to 3,500 that already on the Mac.
Memory has all 26,000 somewhere and if I try and load a photo again, I get the Notice asking if I want a copy imported.
What can I do to access all 26,000 new photos??

Have you checked the Trash bin in iPhoto?
And checked, if the photos have been hidden accidentally? Press the command "Photos > Hidden Photos ⇧⌘H". To unhide all photos, use the command "Photos > Unhide Photos ⌘L"
If these simple methods do not increase the photo count, try to repair your iPhoto library with the First Aid Tools.
Old Toad has a nice description how to repair and rebuild in this post: Try first the repair option, and if that does not help, back up your iPhoto library and go for "Rebuild".

  • I just updated my iPhone to the latest version but now I'm not able to sync my photos because iPhoto events are all messed up and not showing all the pics...

It shows more events than the ones I have and they all have names from events I already have but contain only one pic or so...

No I have not... I'm hoping for an upcoming update release soon...

  • All iPhoto events appear empty in "Event" view

When I view my iPhoto 11 library by "Events", I get the usual listing of all my events, and I am able to scroll through the preview pictures at this level within the individual small Event icon. The key photo shows as normal.  However, if I double click on an event, the event comes up but without any photos showing, not even an empty grey window frame for each photo.  The name of the event shows correctly but on the top right corner it simply says NO PHOTOS.
Now the strange thing is that if I view the library by "Photos" or "Faces" or via Albums etc, I see all my photos and they all appear to be in their corresponding events as normal.  I can even right click on one of my photos and click "Show Event" and then the correct event comes up with all the photos showing.  But if I then go back to "All Events", I will see all the events but if I select one (even one I have just viewed), it will then say NO PHOTOS.
I have deleted the plist files (included the "locked" ones) from both iPhoto and Aperture but this doesn't resolve the problem.  I've also done a "Repair Permissions", "Rebuild Thumbnails" and "Rebuild Database" from the iPhoto First Aid menu (Opt-Cmd Click when opening iPhoto) and none of these have fixed the problem!
I just recently started using Aperture to view the same Library and I have no problem viewing the "Projects" (which is the same as Events in iPhoto) in the normal way.  I have a feeling that this problem started only when I first opened the iPhoto library in Aperture.
    Any ideas?

You don't need to purchase iPLM to use it to rebuild the library.  But try this first:  apply the two fixes below in order as needed:

  • IPhoto events appear empty but only when I click on them...

After reaching 56,000 photos in my iphoto library, I decided to upgrade to Aperture 3.3
I have tried sharing the iphoto library between both programs but in iPhoto there is a strange problem...
If I click on "Photos" all my photos are there.
If I click on "Events" all the Events appear with the Key Photo uppermost and the number of photos in each even stated...
BUT if I click on any individual event, it says "No photos" and nothing comes up.
I have rebuild the thumbnails and now the entire database but with no luck
    Any suggestions warmly received

  • Projects and events are empty!

Before I call support, maybe someone can help. I created a project and finished it, all locally (no external drives involved). The next morning, when I opened FCPX, the event and project NAMES were there, but clicking on them yielded NOTHING. There was no evidence of any of my imported media, either, although my hard drive still showed 10GB less space, so it was still on there somewhere. After uninstalling and reinstalling FCPX and mounting some random libraries from the "Final Cut Backups" folder, the projects and timelines reappeared, but ALL the clips were missing, and attempts to relink them led nowhere. So I RE-IMPORTED all the footage in a new library/event, and when I dragged the event into the library where the "blank" project lived, all the clips mysteriously re-populated and all was right again. This morning, opened up FCPX and the SAME THING happened. Only this time, I can't get any project/timeline to load from ANY library (including every single "backup" library). So I'm panicking that even if I re-import all the footage for a third time, I won't have a project for the clips to "find" and I'll have to start over. WHAT IS GOING ON???
    Thanks!
    Bill

UPDATE: The event has returned but it is still empty. I opened the Console and the following error is repeated hundreds of times starting at the time of the original crash:

  • IWeb pages from iPhoto albums are empty

I've set up a website using iWeb and iPhoto. Whenever I try to add a Photo page, iWeb goes through its process and tells me it's publishing the page. When it tells me the page is published and I go to visit it, there are no pictures on it - just the blank page. Other pages on the site are fine, including one with a quicktime movie which uploaded without a problem. I've deleted pages that are blank and tried to get new ones to post but the same thing happens. Does anyone have any advice?
    Thanks

Is your library working normally otherwise? Can you export pics in the normal way, for instance?

  • IPhoto events are created NOT in chronological order

    Hey  -
I noticed that recently when I plug in the iphone or any camera to the computer to transfer photos into the computer, the event that's created is at the END of the iphoto main page.
So if I upload something that I took today, it will park that event icon down at the end near my photos from 07.
It used to create an event at the head of all the photos (reverse chronological order) - such that upper left hand corner square was the most recent pics and so on.
    Anyone know how to fix?
    I'm using iPhoto 8.1.2 in iLife '09.

This seems to be a common problem after the upgrade to iOS 8 upgrade., for example: Re: Problems with events in Photo app on upgrading to iOS8
There is nothing that can be done about it. Sorting of synced events  is not supported in the Photos.app.
To speed up a bug fix send feedback to the Developers using this form: Apple - iPhoto - Feedback
iTunes Photo sync will be discontinued soon. The iCloud Photo Library will replace it early next year in Photos for MacOS X. Already, with iCloud Photo Library Beta enabled, you can no longer sync your iPhoto library to your iOS devices using iTunes at all.

  • My iPhoto Events are not updating in AppleTV.

I can see most recent photos, but the Events stop in June.  I migrated from my original MacMini in June to a new iMac and that seems to be the same timeline as the latest event showing in Apple TV.  Tried realigning both AppleTV (with reset) and toggling the iPhoto/iTunes settings.  Any suggestions?

Thanks, it was set on manual instead of by date (?). Wonder why iphoto help doesn't note that.....  Thanks so much for your help.

  • In iTunes the Photo events are not the events in iphoto

Since loaading the latest version on iTunes (10.7) the iPhoto events are not name as they appear in iPhoto and sone categories are just a date with not photo in that event... sone of the date are repeated several times... unsure of what is causing the events categories to mess up... The othe iPhoto categories are correct as for names and albums...
What can I do to rectify the situation?

Currently the only way to share your photos a) in the order you want, and b) with the titles you supply is to export them as jpegs, then re-import them, then share. Not exactly elegant (Apple - Are you listening?)
