IPhoto Events 'date range' have ALL changed by 16 yrs+

I'm very new to iMac (from Windows) and when I was editing some Events in iPhoto somehow I've managed to change all the Events to a random date range of 'now to 16yrs +' ... Is there a way that I can revert to the a previous version for dates of Events or will I have to copy a back-up version from Time Machine into iPhotos? I have 6000+ photos and any help would be appreciated!

Thanks for reply .. yes, I'm talking about the Event date (I think it is in grey underneath the key photo in Event view). I think when I was updating the date range of a couple of Events (that were showing a date range back to 1993 at the time) I inadvertantly applied a new date range to ALL of my Events (not sure how I did that).
I've read a few posts about 'bugs' but I think if have the most recent update!
Some of the more recent Events I can manually amend but for those photos that are quite a few years old, it now displays a date range - in some cases up to 2028 - and I would like to be able to see the 'original' date that the photo was taken.
I am on iPhoto 11 (9.1.5) and using Lion OS.
I have checked System Preferences> Date & Time and I don't appear to have a 'custom' date/time preference.

One thing that I find odd is that iTunes used to rebuild the .itl file when you deleted it. It seems as if the newer iTunes somehow broke this old capability. If you delete the .itl file it can't rebuild it- it simple treats this as if this is a fresh installation and completely ignores the fact that the .xml file has all the data in it. I think Apple needs to bring back this old "feature". Of course, the negative with that was that you lost all of the "Date Added" info along with some other stuff but at least it still kept the favorites info etc. (and I think maybe even the path although I don't believe I ever tried that because my account path has never changed until now).
One side note: I can't find where the iTunes Windows SDK is. I was hoping to try to use that to access the .itl "database" and write a utility to fix this situation. Seems like this has moved from its original location...

If your preferences keep getting messed up try this:   make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
     User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
     User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.

3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

Iphoto event date wrong

How do i correct the date which is automatically assigned to my iphoto events? Every event in iphoto says January even though when looking at the description info for each photo, the "date taken" field is accurate. Iphoto seems to be keeping the day accurate, but defaults the month to January when importing. Any ideas?

For future reference there's an application, PhotoInfo, that can batch change the EXIF date in photos, either by adding or subtracting a given time differential or by changing the entire date and time entirely. It would be best used on a batch of photos outside of iPhoto before importing. It's great for changing the time when you travel and take photos in a different time zone but didn't resset the camera's clock.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

Exporting incoming email address by date range for all mailboxes

I run a Small Business 2011 Standard server using Exchange 2010 for a small municipality. A public records request was made for all email address that emailed any employee of that city between 1-1-2013 and 3-6-2014 . There are about 160,000 emails
for that date range but how can I just export a log of the senders email address with a time stamp? Thank you in advanced for any help you can give.
I should add that All logging is at defaults values
I found a "work around", I have a Barracuda Message Archiver, I did a search of the date range and exported it to CSV, then imported it in to Excel and just deleted the extra data.

Good point, Belinda. If you have that time period within your log retention, then you should be able to do something with the Exchange Shell. This is a bit rough but could serve your purpose:

You can change the location to suit yourself as long as you populate "City" in AD and the server names with your own servers.

Why can't I keep the event-dates I have listed on my iPad 3 calendar?

I've been using my iPad 3 calendar for my business appointments and special events! But some of the event-dates are kept but others just disappear specially the occuring dates!! This is very disappointing and I want to know what could be done to correct it... ... ...

IPhoto Event Folders now have weird encrypted looking titles?

Many of my iPhoto (also Aperture of course) event folders now have these encrypted looking folder titles and some may contain only one or two pictures.
There's a massive amount of them and I don't understand what created this mess? I have used some iphoto duplicate file location software just in case it may have been part of the problem.
Screenshot example enclosed.

I've run tests on the Gemini app and it found all of the duplicates in my test library except those HDR and normal files taken by an iPhone shooting in the HDR mode.
However, I wasn't able to test it's removal capability to see if it did it all within iPhoto and didn't damage the library structure. You can answer that.

ICal colors have all changed on my iMac

When I turned my iMac (10.7.5) on this morning and turned on iCal (version 5.0.3), all of the colors had been changed. Before they were each distinct and clear and easy to tell apart from each other, now they all seem muted and when I look at my calendar it looks like one jumbled category of muted blue tones. The colors on the iPhone iCal seem to have remained the same, they have not changed.
While in iCal on the iMac, I looked in the preferences and the colors seem to have changed there as well...just a handful of similar, muted colors.
Does anyone know what is going on? If it remains like this, I am going to have to switch calendars as there is no way to tell categories apart!

So to answer ssschmidt, yes, I do sync with iCloud, always have and have never had a problem like this. The thing that is most frustrating as this new color scheme completely overhauled my calendar, it's a jumbled, muted mess now!

E-mail "Inbox" of old messages have all changed to text only after Norton scan?

Last night I did a full Norton scan of my computer and this morning found that all the "Inbox" messages "prior" to the time of the scan seem to have been changed to text only with various other codes and symbols but without the correct text formatting and any graphics. With these old Inbox messages the address and subject lines are also now empty as is the "To:" and "From:" In fact the whole space where these should appear now simply says "subject". There are also no graphics in the actual message area merely text and symbols. This has only occurred on my POP3 server Inbox. It hasn't happened to my other e-mail address which is an IMAP server. Nor has it affected the "Sent" nor "Archive" message boxes for the POP3 server system. Any new incoming e-mails I've just received this morning and post the Norton scan are ok however.
Is there someway I can recover or re-configure these old Inbox messages from what appear to be text to presumably HTML with the correct subject lines and text/graphics formatting which seems to have been lost since the Norton scan?

Did Norton find anything in the Thunderbird profile. It sounds to me like it has quarantined your entire inbox, something Norton is very good at and the people and Norton are totally unapologetic for. Their attitude is they saved you, you should be grateful that they deleted a great load of your mail.
Personally I voted with my feet. No Symantec product get installed on any device I have anything to so with. I consider them as bad as the virus they are supposedly protecting me from.

How do I get original shape of photos. Mine have all changed to square , losing part of the image. Infuriating!

My photo library has changed the shape of all my images to square meaning I have lost part of the image. How do I revert all the images to their original shape? Very annoying!

All the images are now square with rounded corners, very "arty" but substantil parts of the image is lost as all my photos are A shape ie they are normal photo negative shape. Ther seems to be no tool on the latest iPhoto to make the change back to originals. I have nearly 1000 photos so changing them back one by on is not practical

Downloaded skype and now my settings have all changed!

Im a new mac user. i used to have firefox and some other apps on my computer plus ALOT of music. I downloaded skype and it was running fine, but today EVERYthing has changed. firefox is gone, my itunes library is gone and all my settings have changed. is there anyway to restore or undo what i did last night? im wondering if available memory had something todo with it?

The icons for my .ai files have all changed to Acrobat icons*

I have recently upgraded to CS5 and OS Lion. I have noticed that recently all of my .ai files now seem to have an Acrobat icon instaed of an Illustrator icon.
Is this normal?

Not normal but since the format of AI files is now PDF instead of PostScript it can happen. There are some utility apps out there that will "nudge" a file and re-establish the proper file associations. See here http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/14014/nudge

Applications have all changed place?

Now i know that this might sound like not much however, i synced my iphone at 8 am this morning and on my iTunes it said that it was removing my applications and then adding them back in. However after it did this all my applications are now scattered everywhere and not in the places where i had put them.
As i said i know that this might sound silly but i have a lot of applications and i spent a LOT of time putting my business apps together, games together etc and now they are all over the place.
Is there a way of getting it back to the way it was before?

no they were not unchecked from iTunes. All it said on Itunes as it was syncing was 'removing apps' and then it said installing apps and they were all installed again?

My phone's display has changed as if it were stretched like we can do with photo's except it affects the whole phone. It won't go back to a normal display even after shutting it off and restarting. Has anyone seen this and how did you resolve?

I have the newest iphoto but it says i made changes with a newer version :(

after i tried to scan some pictures with my hp officejet iphone didn't recognize my library. it says exactly "you have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iphoto. please quit and use the latest version of iphoto"
anyway i had already have the latest version and checked again with software update and no luck.
what should i do now to able to open iphoto and see my photos.

Two things: do you have a photo cd in your Mac. If so eject it and try again.
Otherwise it sounds like a damaged library file.
Try these in order - from best option on down...
1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums back.
3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.
