IPhoto events folders have disappeared...

Hi. Some of my events folders seem to have disappeared from iPhoto (any folder containing photos from before October 2008). Does anyone know how I can retrieve them?? I'm freaking out - I haven't deleted anything, so I'm not sure where they've gone. Thanks!

Hi Terence,
I did a little research and the loss of all my event folders occurred on Oct. 23rd.  That must be when I upgraded to iPhoto '11 v 9.2.1.  Sounds about right to me as that is about the time we got our iPhone 4S's
If I restore the library from a Time Machine back up before Oct. 23rd in order to reclaim all my event folders,  it will be a backup with the earlier version of iPhoto.
Because of that, do/can/should I:
1.  First go into Time Machine and confirm I have a previous working version of iPhoto and all my pictures up to Oct. 23rd.  (Assume it never hurts to double check these things.)
2.  After confirming I have all my pics from before Oct. 23rd and a working previous version of iPhoto, delete iPhoto '11 v 9.2.1 from my MacBook Pro's Application folder and the iPhoto picture library in "Photo" in the Finder.  Then bring back the earlier version of iPhoto with its pictures from a Time Machine backup before Oct. 23rd?
3.  Upgrade to iPhoto '11 v 9.2.1 again from the Mac App Store (I assume it will cost nothing as I alreay bought it).
4.  Hope that this time the upgrade doesn't result in removing all my events as happened the first time I installed iPhoto '11 v 9.2.1
I am thinking my only other option is to keep what I have, go into iPhoto and choose "Autosplit Events" (maybe choose 1 week as the event time span instead of 1 day).  Connect my Time Machine backup harddrive to another computer that has the older version of iPhoto.  Open my iPhoto library on that second computer and place it side by side with my computer move through the events on that second computer's iPhoto library and copy the event title and tidy up the events based on that second computer.  Sounds pretty tedious, but my library goes back 11 years and there is no way I will remember what some of those earlier photos are about without some help.
I hoping, of course, your backup idea, will work despite the different versions of iPhoto I will have to deal with.
Thanks for all your help.
Mr. Luigi

  • Only In Box is visible - all other folders have disappeared.

All of my sub-folders have disappeared from Thunderbird. The only visible folder is the In Box. None of my sub-folders, Sent Items, Trash etc. are listed beneath it. It is as though the folder pane has been turned off. They are not hidden on the far side of the window either - tried that. I have 'All folders' checked under View/Folders- not sure what else to do. I use Thunderbird to run my gmail account and so logged into my Gmail account directly and all of my folders are there. How do I change the view so that they come back.
    Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. I do have a gmail IMAP account but the In Box is shown as a tab at the top not a folder so there is no folder to right click to Subscribe other folders. When I right-click the In Box tab, the only options are: Close Other Tabs and Recently Closed Tabs.
The folder pane seems to have disappeared completely. Would really appreciate a reply if you can solve this!

  • TS3899 my emails stored in separate folders have disappeared. Why has this happened?

my emails stored in separate folders have disappeared. Why has this happened?

If they are 72 character they are probably not corruption.
lets try something install this addon https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/importexporttools/
    Instructions here http://chrisramsden.vfast.co.uk/3_How_to_install_Add-ons_in_Thunderbird.html
Create a new folder and select it.
Point the import export tools as the file through import of an MBOX file (that is it's file type) and see if it can import from the file. There is more than one type of MBOX file and the import tools appear to read through some issues Thunderbird can not.
The Import Export tools appear on the Tools menu (alt+T) once installed

  • Since upgrading to Mountain King my email saved folders have disappeared, which has brassed me off!! any ideas?, Since upgrading to Mountain King my email saved folders have disappeared, which has brassed me off!! any ideas?

Since upgrading to Mountain King my email folders have disappeared - any ideas how I can get them back?!!

Look along the left hand side of your Mail app.  That side pane has headings like Inbox, Sent, Trash as atandard,  There are also headings that say "Smart Mailboxes" and "On my Mac".  The On my Mac heading should contain the saved mail folders you had.  This keeps the mail you save on your computer.
If you find that heading, click on it and see the word "show" to the right. If you see it, click on the Show word and it should reveal your saved folders.

  • IPhoto Event Folders now have weird encrypted looking titles?

Many of my iPhoto (also Aperture of course) event folders now have these encrypted looking folder titles and some may contain only one or two pictures.
There's a massive amount of them and I don't understand what created this mess? I have used some iphoto duplicate file location software just in case it may have been part of the problem.
    Screenshot example enclosed.

I've run tests on the Gemini app and it found all of the duplicates in my test library except those HDR and normal files taken by an iPhone shooting in the HDR mode.
However, I wasn't able to test it's removal capability to see if it did it all within iPhoto and didn't damage the library structure. You can answer that.

  • Bookmarks from folders have disappeared, I was just working on them yesterday and when I go to work on them today I find they've dissppeared.

Bookmarks from certain folders have just disappeared, the folders are there but it says they're empty, I was just working on these folders yesterday.

I keep an eye on the WinXP Task Manager CPU 'gauge' usage when rearranging bookmarks, and when the 'meter' is pegged I stop to let Firefox digest the changes I am making. Also, I use the Bookmarks Sidebar for working with bookmarks, like when moving a lot of them around. A holdover from IE5 & 6 and the earliest versions of Firefox - the pre-Places / pre-Library days.

  • My email folders have disappeared and I have had no luck finding them.

Can anyone help me find my email folders that have disappeared from the left hand column on my email?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
How did you sync with your computer. Are you still logged into iCloud.

  • My hotmail folders have disappeared.

I have been using my ipad 2 to receive my hotmail emails for a couple of years now with no problems. However, today, all my folders (except inbox and drafts) have disappeared from the screen. I have deleted my mail acct and then added it again; the problem remains Anyone know how to sort this out please?

I don' t know if this'll do anything. Sign into your hotmail/outlook account. 'www.hotmail.com' etc
then in the upper right you'll see the little gear symbol
click on that and choose options
then on the left you'll see the option to 'connect devices and apps with POP'
I have mine set to enable POP and allow the app (in this case my ipod/ipad) to delete my mail

  • Lightroom 1.4.1 folders have disappeared

I have had Lightroom 1.4.1 for a while, and have not had any problems. however, I worked in Lightroom yesterday and I had many folders of photos that I have already imported and edited and created web galleries for over time. Launched lightroom today, and all but a few of my folders have disappered. I did not delete anything, nor did I move or delete photos from my hard disk. I have windows version (Vista). When I go to import these photos again from disk, a message pops up that says I have already imported photos. I go ahead and import them anyway, and the photos re-import but without my edits that I have alreay done. is there any way to get my folders back so I don't have to re-do all my work?

For 1.4, read my blog http://lagemaat.blogspot.com/2007/04/printing-to-jpg-from-lightroom.html or a later post here where you do it using Photoshop: http://lagemaat.blogspot.com/2007/12/mildly-lightroom-workflow-for-printing.html
Otherwise they built this into Lightroom 2.0 now, so check out the beta (see top of this forum). Instructions here: http://lagemaat.blogspot.com/2008/05/great-prints-from-labs.html

  • List of bookmarks in folders have disappeared, how do I get list back?

Suddenly, out of no where, my bookmarks have changed. Until today when I looked at bookmark folders it would show all the web sites that were in the folders. Now, I get the large Safari logo and one web site at time, that will change when moved along horizontal tracker.  I can't find anything to change what format is used for bookmarks.  Its just a view issue. All the web sites are there. But I no longer can see them all at the same time. Don't know how this changed or why.
Can't find any control for how the bookmarks show individual sites. Help?

so I found the solution when I posted under the More Like This.... there is a tiny little button in the middle of the large format that brings either a partial list, with the slider and large display. Or hit it again and it removes the slider and brings the total list of whats in folder.
Ironically, what remains a mystery is how it happened.... because when the list of everything is showing, the little button disappears and I can't tell how to get to either the partial list or no list. Obviously, I accidently did it somehow but can't see how to do it on purpose.
Hope this saves somebody else. David

no extensions , no addons uninstalled thunderbird, deleted all TB folders then rebooted win safe mode and ran Malwarebytes - no malware, rebooted normal windows and downloaded fresh version of TB reloaded profile using mozback. Still the same TB loads showing 3 folders no inbox and should be 2 accounts. Change to safe mode in TB and all files are present and 2 inboxes
i am not losing data just can only see emails when in TB safe mode. What TB profile files could be contaminated?

  • Folders have disappeared. How can I get them back?

Thunderbird has been reluctant to `start` recently and to-day I can send and receive emails, but the folsers down the left hand side, in which I store all the emails I want to keep has disappearwd. I have tried everything I can think of, but nothing brings them back. Please help.

After two & a half days of looking for an answer to my `lost` folders, I found the following:- To retrieve missing folders, start Thunderbird in `safe mode`by going to HELP & choosing "Restart with add.ons disabled".
It worked like a dream- everything was back to normal. I have to open Thunderbird in `safe mode`every time, because I am not sure whether to permanantly disable add ons.

  • Event photos have disappeared

I created an event from some photos taken on an iPhone 5 in iPhoto. I gave the event an name then made a few edits, keywords etc.  Everything was ok.
The next time I opened iPhoto the event appears to be empty. The key photo has been replaced by:
and it looks like there is no photos in the event however when you open the event up the photos are there.  What has went wrong?

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

    TD

  • My mail folders have disappeared

I failed to heed my own advice:
"Never install a new OS on a mission critical system in the first 3-6 month."
I updated to Mountain Lion and all the mail folders that I created and all the mails that I
saved for the past four years are gone.
    1. Where are they?
    2. Can I use Time Machine to restore them?
    This is unbelievable.
I have a backup of my main hard but its more than three months all.
Thank you inadvance for all your help

your mail should still be there. On the left where it say's mailboxes, go down to ON MY MAC or ICLOUD. When you hold your curser over that you should see "show" . Click on that and you should see your mailboxes.
