Iphoto events show no photos

Lately, when I double - clicked "Events" of each folder, I saw no photos inside the window; only saw "No Photos" on the top right corner.  I have tried rebuilding thumbnails and data.  No luck.  The fact is when I clicked "Photos", or albums, all photos were shown up accordingly.  Even, when I open iWeb, "Events" of iPhoto in the Media column show all the photos.  Wonder if this is the bug of iPhoto '11 (ver. 9.4.2.)  Any clues from the community?

  • Iphoto events show fewer photo's than actually in event

On the event's page, when hovering over the Event Name, the photo count differs from the actual number of photo's in the event.  Also, some events show a palm tree instead of a thumbnail of one of the photo's in the event.

I rebuilt the iphoto database and that solved the probem.

  • Iphoto events showing with key photo of a palm tree in gray?

iphoto events showing with key photo of a palm tree in gray? Also indicates no photos but there are photos within the event??

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Iphoto not showing imported photos in events

I have been using iphoto for quite a while with very few problems.  Recently I have added an iPhone and an apple TV into my apple ecosystem.  I have recently noticed that my iphoto library is NOT showing photos imported from 3rd party sources such as my android phone, in the events section of the interface.  The photos ARE present in the 'photos' section which leads me to believe that they are IN the library.  But when i look at the events and select one say for 3/24 it will only display the photos taken from my wifes iphone and NOT the ones taken from my andriod and imported using the add to library function.  I have attempted all four options in the command-option iphoto startup and have gotten no where.
Many of you might that that this is a non issue as the photos are present in the 'photo' section.  but as i prefer to use the fullscreen mode in iphoto i do not have access to the 'photos' tab in full screen, only the 'events'.
could my appletv or iPhone or appletv be a contributing factor?  Is there an option in events to only display iPhone imported photos?
Any help would be appricaited I am pulling my hair out here.

1 - Photos and events are simply two different views of the same photos - your iPhoto library - so any photo that is in one is always also in the other - you are just looking in the wrong place
2 - the most common issue is incorrect dates on photos so you look in the wrong location for the event - in the photos view right click on one of the photos that you are not seeing in an event and show event
3 - another possiblity is the sort order of the events - verify it under the view menu ==> sort events
4 - No - it is not your Apple TV nor is it your iPhone

  • In one of my iPhoto 'event' files other photos from another event seem to have doubled up over a different photo!!!!!

In one of my iPhoto 'event' files  (named Thailand) other photos from another event (named Filey) seem to have doubled in the Thailand event, but when I click on the image  (from filey) it shows the Thailand image!!!!!
    I hope this is understandable

What is your iPhoto version and your MacOS X version on your MacBook Pro? It looks like the thumbnails of your photos were wrong. Make a backup copy of your iPhoto library and try to rebuild the thumbnails. in iPhoto '11 try this:
Launch iPhoto with the key combination⌥⌘  (alt/option-command) held down and select "rebuild thumbnails" from the panel.

  • Time Machine backup of external iPhoto library shows recent photos only as outline, no image. Any suggestions?

The Time Machine backup of my external iPhoto library shows all pictures 'now' but previous backups show the most recent pictures only as box outlines, some with a curled corner. How can I see all pictures to make sure TM has them? And if I would need to restore photos from TM can I do this one picture at a time or only the whole library? If I upgrade to iPhoto 11, a more recent OS, or both, do the answers to any of these questions change?
    Many thanks!

You can not use the iPhoto library while it is a TM backup - you must restore it to use it - and you must restore it all

  • IPhoto 11 "Show Extended Photo Info" item under "Photos"

In my iPhoto 11, under Photos in the menu bar, the first item is "Adjust Date and Time".
I do NOT see "Show Extended Photo Info".
How do I make this menu item appear?

You should post in -> Forum : Installing and using iPhoto '11.
How do I make this menu item appear?
    You don't.
Click the little white i at the lower right of the photo to see the photo info.

  • When I double click on an event, shows large photo rather than All photos

I don't know what I did to cause this, but somehow, when I double click on an event, it magnifies the particular photo my mouse is on, rather than opening up all of the photos in the event. How can I change this so when I click on an event, all the photos in the event appear?
    thanks very much.

    Quite iPhoto
in the finder under your user account ==> library ==> preferences and delete com.apple.iphoto.plist
launch iPhoto - your preferences will be reset to the iPhoto defaults

  • Where can I find the "event" information I had in iPhoto events in new photos app?

Just upgraded to OS X and the new Photos app and I am having a hard time adjusting from iPhoto where I had (happily) organized years of photos into events. I can see my 771 "events" now called albums in a sub-album called "iPhoto events" HOWEVER, I cannot seem to find/view the little notes or summaries of event information that I had inputted in iPhoto.  I often wrote a brief (or detailed) bit of information, anecdotes or fond memories about various "events" and now I am frustrated that might all be gone. Can anyone help?

Oops Sorry Jumped the gun again! i found out how to do it. I was using my jot touch styles which mean you have to hold down the icon on the upper left with the styles then use your fingers to do the pinch and zoom gesture to make it work

  • Auto update iPhoto to show aperture photos

I shoot in raw and use aperture to manage all my files. I have iLife 09 also and like the faces and places functions.
Is there any way of being able to open iPhoto and it automatically pulls all changes from my aperture library including any new imports? Ideally I'd like each aperture project as an event in iPhoto.
I know how to show my aperture library but that involves importing new events manually and I've heard there has been issues of iphoto not bringing metadata in with the photos, which would be vital as I geotag my photos before bringing them into aperture.
    Regards

The problem is when you use the File -> Show Aperture Library command in iPhoto you’re not accessing the files only their Aperture previews.
The only way to do this is to export from Aperture - writing the metadata to the files along the way - then import into iPhoto.
There is some automation possible - if you can export to a Folder on the desktop then you can set an app like Hazel to watch that folder, and, on noting changes to automatically import to iPhoto (and trash afterwards).
My own take: Don’t bother. It never occurred to the developers of Aperture that it would have a wide usage outside the Pro setting. It never occurred to them that folks would want two-way communication between Aperture and iPhoto. My guess is that Places will be added to Aperture in the near future.

  • IPhoto not showing all photos

I have iPhoto '11 v 9.4.3.  Some time ago I noticed that certain events in the event view were showing up with zero photos in the event, with a gray palm tree sunset as the key photo of that event.  When I go to import pictures from my camera, iPhoto reports that photos in the camera are duplicates of photos already imported, but it shows a blank for the imported photo.  Since iPhoto seems to know they are there, I don't re-import. When I go to the Finder and look for the "missing" photos, they are there in the iPhoto Library (under Masters).  So, my question is, why does iPhoto know they are there but can't show them?  And how do I fix it?  And BTW, they have not been made hidden in iPhoto.

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.

  • Time changes made in iPhoto not showing in Photos

I've scanned a lot of physical family photos from when I was a child into iPhoto and changed the dates so they show in iPhoto on the correct day. So Xmas day 2000 showed up on 25 December 2000 as you would expect.
Since importing into the new Photos App these correct dates haven't copied. Instead showing the date they where scanned.
Is their a way to fix this or do I need to manually find all these pictures and manually adjust each one to the correct time?

    Haven't had the problem.
First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.

  • Iphoto wont show all photos of an album on top?

Absolutely new to mac, so bear with me, still learning basics of keyboard and mouse!!
When i open iphoto and select an album (all imported from pc via network or thru usb drive, none thru camera) only first photo shows and the film strip does not show on top. So, when want to select photos for, say, slide show or book etc, can not do it. On edit screen, all show on top as a film strip, but can not transfer them to slide show, or book etc. What to do?
    Thanks in anticipation.
    MACBOOK Mac OS X (10.4.9)

The general rule of thumb is that where you would use Control on a PC, you use Command (the Apple key) on a Mac. To select discontinuous items use Command-click. To select a continuous range of items you can Shift-click on the endpoints, and all items included will become selected.
To better become acquainted with your Mac and OS 10.4, try the Mac 101 courses. Or follow the link on that page to the Switch 101 course designed for users moving from PC to Mac. There is a lot of good information there.

  • IPhoto events showing a grayed out palm tree

Using iPhoto 9.4.3 on a MacBook Pro under ML version 10.8.4.
My wife created several events and the result were  placeholder photos of a grayed out palm tree and the photo count was 0. However, when I clicked on the event it opened and several pictures were present. This happened to several events that she created.
Question: how do I remove the grayed out palm tree and replace it with a proper key photo?
    Thanks
