  • IPhoto - Exporting Slideshows - not happening

Im have a difficult time exporting slideshows to anywhere, no matter how many times I try, they don't end up in either my iTunes slideshow folder or my desktop, the 2 destinations I sent them to. Regardless of the resolution, 480p 720p or 1080p, it just won't work. I am running the latest Yosemite and iTunes programs. I had similar difficulties last time i tried just over a year ago. When exporting, there is an already ticked box saying 'send a copy to iTunes' however its not there...

    Try reinstall iPhoto.
    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
    2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List* there.
*Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

I know this is common. But when I plug in iphone4s with usb. it goes straight to iphoto and is detected but not to itunes.

    Hey sergioll,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing issues with your iPhone 5 not being recognized in iTunes for Windows. The following resources may provide a solution:

  • Is there a way to detect all the photos already transferred to double (or triple) in iPhoto, so do not occupy space unnecessarily? Thank you from France.

Is there a way to detect all the photos already transferred to double (or triple) in iPhoto, so do not occupy space unnecessarily? thanks from France

Look in you main photo library. Are there doubles or triple photos there? If so delete the extras.
All photos are stored in the photo library. When you move a photo into an album the photo is not duplicated. The album contains a pointer back to the original photos. These pointers or aliases take up very little space.

  • Exporting Originals (not Modified) from iPhoto 09 to Adobe Lightroom 2

    Hi all.
What is the best way (if any) to export photos in the Originals folder of iPhoto into Lightroom 2 and:
    1. Keep keywords
    2. Keep similar organization to "events" (e.g. an event called Fall 2009 in iPhoto would create a folder within a LR catalog just like that one with the same photos).
I have seen exporters that aren't supported for iPhoto 09, have seen tutorials, but none of them talk about preserving the keywords in the transition, for instance.
    Thanks.

You can't from iPhoto +into Lightroom+. What you do is export to Folders of images. Then you can import those to Lr.
    To export Originals:
File -> Export: in the resulting dialogue select: Kind: Original
You cannot export Originals with keywords - why? Because if you add keywords they are not Originals. When iPhoto exports the Original that's exactly what you get, the pic as shot in your camera.
    Keep similar organization to "events"...
Export each event at a time to a separate folder. Then import that folder to Lr.

  • Glitches in ePub File Not Detectable in Pages Prior to Exporting

    27 April 2012
    Dear Apple Support Community:
Greetings. I am using an updated version of Pages to create a file to be exported as an ePub. The exported file as an ePub is fine when viewed on my iPod Touch as an iBook. However, the ePub/iBook contains some blank pages that I did not insert. Whether in portrait or landscape mode, there are blank pages that should not exist. Again and again, I have deleted blank spaces at the top and bottom of pages in Pages, but the resulting ePub (displayed as an iBook on my iPod Touch) still has blank pages. When I view the pre-EPUB file in Pages, I cannot and do not detect any blank pages.
Does anyone have any suggestions about how I can create an eventual ePub in Pages that will more closely reflect the pages and spacings in the actual, pre-EPUB file?
    Sincerely,
    Excelsus
P.S. The few images are inline, etc., etc., and the table of contents is fine, accurate, and functional, except that it displays or lists  "section" in places that I did not mark up or stylize as "sections" in Pages.

    Hi Anne
I wouldn't use Sigil myself. Perhaps you should go back to basics. You seem to be formatting your ePub incorrectly somewhere. I suggest you create a short document of say 16 pages, set it up afresh, using similar chapter headings, subheadings and text paragraph styles as the original, inserting the images inline, trying out the various Anchored Objects Options as so on. Keep testing the output using the IDPF Validator and viewing the ePub on the iBooks reader (if you’re using a Mac). You’ll then discover the various ways of formatting the book to get the effect you want. It might also be an idea take an online course, such as: http://www.lynda.com/EPUB-tutorials/InDesign-CC-EPUB-Fundamentals/143324-2.html?srchtrk=in dex:1%0Alinktypeid:2%0Aq:epub%0Apage:1%0As:relevance%0Asa:true%0Aproducttypeid:2
this course will also help you learn how to convert an ePub file to a mobi file for use on the Kindle.

  • In iPhoto how do I stop files from auto resizing as they import? I don't want my files reduced to 72. The option to choose size on the export menu not suitable for up sizing, as you can't restore the quality removed?

in iPhoto how do I stop files from auto resizing as they import? I don't want my files reduced to 72. The option to choose size on the export menu not suitable for up sizing, as you can't restore the quality removed.

Short answer: They are not resizing, there is no quality lost. The dpi is only set when you decide what size you're printing at
Longer answer:  Dpi means nothing in the digital world of your computer. There are no "inches" to have "dots per..." Size is measured in pixels. That's the same on your camera. It doesn't take 10 x 8 or 6 x 4 shots. It takes shots measured in megapixels. For instance 4,000 x 3,000 is a 12 megapixel camera.
Using that example, that shot from that camera has 12 million pixels. So that's how many "Dots" there are. To decide the ratio of dots per inch, you now need to decide the "inches" part. And that's printing. Print at 10 x 8 and the dpi will be 4,000/10 or about 400 dpi. At 6 x 4 then it's 4,000/6 or 660 dpi. Work the other way: Print at 300 dpi and the resulting image will be about 13 inches on the longer side.
So, your photo as a fixed number of pixels. Changing the dimensions of the print will vary the dpi, changing the dpi will vary the dimensions of the print.

  • IPhoto not detecting iPhone and iPad

    I'm using iPhoto 08, ver 7.1.5 (378).
I've been using it with my iPhone 3GS and iPad with no problems until last night.
But starting from this morning, iPhoto would NOT detect any of my devices.
I've tried some tips from the forum -- restarting the system, deleting images from emails in my iPhone, taking picture with my iPhone and reconnect to my Mac. Noe of them worked.
    Any help?

Yes you are right, I found image capture app on applications folder, looks like it is an alternative to iPhoto app, however when I connect my devices and open the app I am getting a message "no camera or scanner is connected" so look like whatever is causing the problem for iPhoto also blocks image capture, that app also does not recognise my devices, is there any other way I can transfer photos?? Or what might be the problem for this iPhoto \ image capture issue??
By the way I just realised even iTunes is not detecting my devices now, so I will try a restart after I finish downloading some stuff, meanwhile please let me know if any solutions.
P.S: Is APPLE paying you guys to bombard negative comments?? Almost like once negative comments are detected you guys jump on it, I understand the fanaticism however I am facing a problem that clearly prevents me to upload my photos to my MAC and I am complaing abut it, i believe i have the right to do that as a consumer.
Not sure why you guys take the neative comments and complaints so serious.

  • HT4718 After burning a slideshow from iPhoto export to a DVD, it will not play on my DVD player OS X 10.9.4

iMac 27' OS X 10.9.4 I burned a slideshow from iPhoto export to a DVD and now it will not play back on anything. The player said Unknown disc. What can i do?

I do find that using one of these programs will reduce the sharpness of the photos.
Granted, I've never used iPhoto - I use Photo to Movie for slideshows and various versions of iMovie for videos, but my pics are excellent quality and my videos are shot in 1080p (better camera)  or 720p (small camera) and the results are superb on my TV using both iDVD and Toast. However, I do not encode in iDVD, I simply use it to add a theme and menus. The encoding is done by Photo to Movie, or iMovie 06 HD (the only version ever to process losslessly) and either/both are imported into iDVD as a complete .mov, or Toast.
Since using those methods, I've never had a problem with the sharpness or crispness of my footage. My eyes cannot discern a difference between my "production" and true HD (unless of course I shook the camera while shooting, LOL).

  • IPhoto does not detect Samsung Camera

Here's the info: The camera is a Samsung TL500 and I have a MacBook with OS X Leopard with the latest updates. When I plug in the camera into the USB, the camera recognizes that it is connected but no files from the camera appear on the computer when I turn it on, not in the hard drive, iPhoto, Image Capture or Aperture. Looking for it under any name on Spotlight does not work either because it does not show up as a device anywhere.
I have used my Nikon D40X with this computer and never had problems. I have tried every setting imaginable on the camera to get the computer to recognize it. I know it is a problem with my mac and not the camera because I plugged it into my friend's macbook which has the exact same operating system as mine and it worked. There must be something I can do so the computer detects the camera's SD card as a mass storage device.
Here is what I have tried:
Changed the preferences on Image Capture and iPhoto
Changed different SD cards, both SD and SDHC
Switching the camera settings (PC Software on, Connect Computer, etc.)
Deleting iPhoto, Image Capture and Aperture .plist files
    Repairing disk preferences
Plugged in other USBs (I switched it to different USB ports and also plugged in devices that work, such as my iPod to test if it was the cord. It's not.)
There is no mac driver for the TL500 and the mac is supposed to automatically recognize it (as it easily did on my friend's). I called Samsung tech support and they said it must be a software issue or operating system problem on my mac, which I believe is what I've narrowed it down to also.
I know I can just get a card reader, but honestly one less thing to carry around would be nice and since I know it's possible for my mac to recognize my camera I would prefer it.
Do you have any suggestions for other things I can do on my Mac to figure this out? I have not encountered anyone else with a mac who has this problem with this camera.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions Iris,
You have done some very thorough troubleshooting thus far. If neither iPhoto, nor Image Capture detect the camera but another Mac does (using the same cables and media card) then I can only see 2 possibilities:
1.) Hardware issue on the Mac.
__Test this by using a different camera in the same USB port and seeing if is detected. I understand that historically it has worked but things can change overnight. Test it now.
__If you don't have another camera to test with go to Apple > About this Mac > More Info > USB while the camera is plugged in. If the USB port, camera, and cable are all working you should see your camera listed here.
2.) Software issue on the Mac.
__Safe Boot the computer and try iPhoto and Image capture again.
__If safeboot works you may have a startup item that is preventing detection of the camera. Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Accounts > Login Items and remove everything here using the minus sign except 'iTunes Helper'.
__Before troubleshooting any further I would suggest testing in a new user: Creating a new user account
    Hope that helps.
