IPhoto Export Problem

I am working on a MacBook with iPhoto on it. When I control + click on the iPhoto library and click "Get Info" it shows a size of 12.2 GB. When I open iPhoto, click Events and export to a folder it is only 2.2 GB. Where would I find the other 10 GB that seem to be missing?
The work order says "Backup pictures to DVD. Wipe and reload."
I could do a command-line think like: find . -iname "*jpg*" exec cp {} pictures \;
But I'm afraid of getting all kinds of junk the customer would not want.

When you export the events to the finder then you get just whatever version of the files that you chose in the export dialogue.
The Library contains the Master files, all the databases, thumbnails, previews and caches.

  • Iphoto export problem any ideas???

I cannot export photos before a certain date. I have about two years worth in my iphoto and after a certain date I can export. I don't know what is different between the photos. I tried command option while launching iphoto and none of those options corrected them with the exception of two photos. I didn't find anything listed in the type of file except jpg's...no png's as some people have found. And it is strange because after July of 2012 everything exports fine. I don't get it does anyone have any ideas? I would logically think a problem would not resolve itself and be ok after a date with any recently photos able to export and older ones unable to.I haven't added any programs and if I did I would think they would have created the problem not solved it....I want to be able to export my old photos...I have spent quite a bit of time on it...any help would be great. OH and another problem I am out of state and my start up disk is back home in MI and I am in CA

Take a look at theis thread in the iPhoto forum https://discussions.apple.com/message/21143278#21143278
If this doesn't help you might post your question over in the iPhoto forum.

  • IPhoto Export Problems

I have recently run out of disk space on my MacBook.  So I purchased an external hard drive and moved my entire iPhoto library to this location.  I'm attempting to export a portion of the photos back to the laptop but am receiving an error code "unable to create/users...
I've tried changing the file type, I've tried to export only one photo, but am still unsuccessful.  Any thoughts?
    Diane

You started to delete the Library on your Internal disk, right? This may well have something to do with the problems having - very likely there are bits gone...
If you copied the Library to the external, use that one.

  • Iphoto export to facebook problem

The iphoto exporter tool sent x rated pictures to my Facebook account instead of my photos. Why did that happen? I restarted everything and now everything is okay. Do I have a virus on my computer that I need to remove? Where did the p@rn pictures come from?

There are no known viruses in the wild for the Mac so it is unlikely that you have one
Unless those **** photos are somewhere on your Mac then the problem is on the Facebook side - maybe someone has hacked your facebook account

  • Problem w/Walgreens iphoto exporter

I just installed the Walgreens iPhoto exporter, and have not been able to use it b/c after I try to login, I get this error: "Server returned an invalid response. Please try later."  I have tried to reboot, reinstall the exporter, deleted cookies & caches but still can not get it to work.  I have used Walgreens before to upload but since upgrading to Snow Leopard/iLife '11, their program only wants to choose my old iphoto library and not my current one, which is why I went to the iPhoto exporter today.  Any suggestions?

can you upload to Walgreens via Safari? If so use the standard supported access method
we could scroll down to "Media," and were able to choose "Photos," which opened up our Photo Albums in iPhoto that we had created, and could choose the pictures we wanted to upload.  We have been able to do this several times.

  • IPhoto Printing Problems - please help!

    Hi All,
I'm having continued problems trying to sort out printing from iPhoto '09. I dont have a great printer - Epson Photo r265 so it is a cheapy however it does print fine. If I print from my PC to this printer it works perfectly. Therefore I assumed there was a driver issue between the mac and the printer. Finally I worked out how to get the correct epson driver as opposed to apples version installed and set as default. Now the photos no longer have crazy lines all over them but the quality remains very poor by comparison to printing on this printer using the same photo from other sources.
I then downloaded Epsons easy photo print. If I print using this very basic package on the mac now the quality is much better (still not amazing though but certainly acceptable). So it sounds like problem solved??? ..... NO!!! The problem is that the Epson Easy Photo Print software cannot 'see' the photos in iPhoto and so to print, you first have to copy photos to desktop or some place else outside of iPhoto. This all seems due to iPhoto's wierd need to keep its arms locked around the photos within it with the result that when you look in Finder all you see is a file called "iPhoto Library" .... and 3rd party software as simple as this epson print package cannot translate this and see the photos within.
Can anyone help here and give some options?
    1. Is it actually possible to print at good quality from iPhoto?
    2. Is there other printing software I can use which will actually be able to see the photos in iPhoto Library
    3. I even though my printer is very cheap and basic i know it is not its fault - that said are there printers better optimised to use with a mac? I would consider changing the printer if needed as I'm really sick of this.
    4. Can I change the iPhoto settings somehow to stop all my photos appearing as a single file - "iPhoto Library"??
    All help much appreciated.
    Adam

The first of these might help:
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
*For Users of 10.5 and later*
You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
*For users of 10.4 and later* ...
Many internet sites such as Flickr and SmugMug have plug-ins for accessing the iPhoto Library. If the site you want to use doesn’t then some, one or any of these will also work:
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. However, if you're using Gmail you can use iPhoto2GMail
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
*If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running*:
For users of 10.6 and later:
You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu. Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and later:
Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

  • Iphoto export and transparency

    Hi People,
Does anyone know how i can make my autoviewer slideshow which I am using with iphoto export have a transparent background so the iweb page behind shows through around the photos?
Right now the frame colour and background colour in the webexport options are: background 181818 and framecolour 181818. Any advice would be appreciated!
    Cheers,
    Ben (Brazil)

    Ben:
I'm not sure what you mean by autoviewer. Is that a 3rd party application or plugin? As far as creating a Quicktime movie file with a transparent background I've never heard of that capability being available in any application.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • IPhoto export broken?

Since the Maverick updates, iPhoto "Export" no longer works.
I can select a photo, go to the file menu, then select "Export"
I still see the Export dialog window.
However, when I click on the Export button, nothing happens.
Has anyone else had this problem?
More importantly, is there a fix? I realize that I can work around it with "show photo in Finder", but I'd like Export to work properly.
    Thanks!

  • HT4718 After burning a slideshow from iPhoto export to a DVD, it will not play on my DVD player OS X 10.9.4

iMac 27' OS X 10.9.4 I burned a slideshow from iPhoto export to a DVD and now it will not play back on anything. The player said Unknown disc. What can i do?

I do find that using one of these programs will reduce the sharpness of the photos.
Granted, I've never used iPhoto - I use Photo to Movie for slideshows and various versions of iMovie for videos, but my pics are excellent quality and my videos are shot in 1080p (better camera)  or 720p (small camera) and the results are superb on my TV using both iDVD and Toast. However, I do not encode in iDVD, I simply use it to add a theme and menus. The encoding is done by Photo to Movie, or iMovie 06 HD (the only version ever to process losslessly) and either/both are imported into iDVD as a complete .mov, or Toast.
Since using those methods, I've never had a problem with the sharpness or crispness of my footage. My eyes cannot discern a difference between my "production" and true HD (unless of course I shook the camera while shooting, LOL).

  • IPhoto exporting issues, doesn't keep color settings?

    I have a weird problem.
If I export a picture from iPhoto, the resulting file doesn't look the same way as the original. At least not in Firefox and other web browsers (IE?). It DOES look like the original in iPhoto, Preview and Safari though.
Here's an example; Original in iPhoto, export in Preview and Firefox are the same file:
    http://bp1.blogger.com/N0GLS5q5xhE/RaqWJdh4QtI/AAAAAAAAAM0/qS-3XnI3CM/s1600-h/screen.jpg
You can clearly see that the Firefox view is more pale.
    Latest version of iPhoto.
Tried both with NEF raw and jpg as originals.
    Ideas?
    Regards,
    Mattias.
    MacBook Pro 15" Mac OS X (10.4.6) 2 GHz

    Keihan
That's a question for the Firefox people really. The profiles are attached, that's why the pic looks the same in iPhoto Safari and Preview. It's a case of getting Firefox to respect them.

  • 1080p slideshow export problems

    Hi,
I'm having problems exporting 720p & 1080p slideshows from iPhoto. I've only started getting this problems since upgrading to Yosemite & iPhoto 9.6. I can see all the photos as thumbnails. I can play the slideshows in iPhoto, no problem at all. But when I export & view the MP4 file I'm getting blank black pages in the exported file. I'm not sure if this is relevant, but when I export 480p I'm not getting any problems.
I've tried re-importing the affected images, & even rebuilding the albums/slideshow from scratch but the problem is persisting.
Can anyone help me resolve this?
    Thanks.

Same thing here, I use iPhoto a lot to create slideshows for my wedding clients. I've never had this problem before but since upgrade to latest iphoto and Yosemite, its dropping random images. If I reimport the images it makes no difference, they're still missing on export at 1080. It works at 720.
I've uninstalled iphoto, completely reinstalled it after clearing out any trace of it.... same problem and irrelevant of what them you chose.
My work around has been to export anyway, and then import to final cut (you can do the same with iMovie which is free) and then on the bits that are missing I cut to the missing images and add a ken burns to it.
I'm worried this won't be fixed as I've heard they're dropping iPhoto soon for something else. They really should have spotted this issue in testing, they're clearly not regression testing enough. I spent all of yesterday trying to get it to work. I'm tempted to go back to mavericks.

  • Now all I get  on IPhoto export is a  Player movie. I have QuickTime 7.2.0

Now all I get on IPhoto export is a movie. I haveQuickTime™ Version 7.2.0, Player Version 7.2 (7.2)
It will at least export now. I removed the File exporter. How can I reinstall IPhoto 7 '08? Can I just drag the iphoto app to the trash and then install I Photo 7? Is that safe?

To reinstall iPhoto the application need to be deleted and all files with iPhoto in the file name that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder. Then iPhoto 08 will install.
It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

Hard Drive warning when upgrading to Mountain Lion. 2nd try and I was able to upgrade. Software update for IPhoto, had problems restarting. Do I need my hard drive checked

    Yes.
Choose Apple menu > Restart. Hold down the Command (⌘) and R keys as your computer restarts.
When you see a white screen with an Apple logo in the middle, you can release the keys.
Click Disk Utility, and then click Continue.
In the list at the left, select the item you want to repair. (Be sure to select an item that’s indented to the right in the list, not an item at the far left.)
    Click First Aid.
If Disk Utility tells you the disk is about to fail, back it up and replace it. You can’t repair it.
    Click Repair Disk.
If Disk Utility reports that the disk appears to be OK or has been repaired, you’re done.
Otherwise, you may need to do one of the following steps.
If Disk Utility can’t repair your disk or it reports “The underlying task reported failure,” try to repair the disk or partition again. If that doesn’t work, back up as much of your data as possible, reformat the disk, reinstall Mac OS X, and then restore your backed-up data.
If you continue to have problems with your disk, it may be physically damaged and need to be replaced
