Iphoto folders to display on iphone

I have been really hating the way that the iphone organizes the pictures based on last imported and last 12 months rather than my perfectly organized folders or events. Is there anyway that iphoto can organize the photos based on events or picture folder names? Or is there anyway to delete last imported and last 12 months and enter my own categories? If anyone knows how this works please tell me.. thanks

here is how I did it
I created a folder for all the pictures I wanted on my iPhone and created subfolders in it to organize them
When I sync I sync from that folder not from iPhoto
Hope it helps

  • IPhoto albums order display on iPhone

Using iPhoto 9.5.1 on new Macbook Air with OS UTD, and iPhone 6 using iOS 8
I know how to sort Events album orders in iPhoto View>Sort Events>by date & descending
but in my iPhone, they are all in random order.
    I have synced multiple times.
How do I get them to display on my iPhone like they do in iPhoto (i.e. chronologically descending)?
Also, why is my selected Key Photo for each album lost when the albums are on the iPhone?

iPhoto  for iOS is no longer supported nor works in iOS 8 and has been dropped from further development by Apple.  Go to the iPhoto for iOS forum and look for how to migrate  photos from iPhoto to the Photos app on the iPhone.
It's a whole new ballgame now.  Here's some info on how the Photos apps now works.
Your photos are still on your phone.  With iOS 8 there is no My Photo Stream or Camera Roll any more.  The MPS has been replaced with the Recent Activity album.
The CR is replaced by the Collections mode.  The closest we can get to the Camera Roll is to turn off the Summarize Photos feature in the Settings/Photos & Camera pane and view the photos in the Collections/Moments window.
The photos will be in chronological order when scrolled up from the bottom of the window.
The Recent Activity album is showing the photos added in the last 30 days going back to 8/20 (today being 9/18).  In iPhoto on a Mac the My Photo Stream is showing more like 31 days, 8/19 to today, 8/20. It must be how the two devices calculate the last 30 days.
WARNING:  If you use iTunes to sync photos between your iPhone or iPad and your Mac do not activate the iCloud Drive. Doing so will kill the capability of using iTunes to sync with your mobile device and disable Documents & Data syncing for your iCloud account on OS X Mavericks and earlier Macs, as well as iOS 7 and earlier devices.

  • I have just installed iPhoto 11 and all of photos on my iphone have now all disappeared and ended up in my photo stream and the library in iphoto does not display all my pictures?? Can anyone help?

I have just installed iPhoto 11 and all of photos on my iphone have now all disappeared and ended up in my photo stream and the library in iphoto does not display all my pictures?? Can anyone help?

And I cant work out why all of my pictures are not diplaying in iphoto?
Is this iPhoto on your Mac?  Are you referring to the photos that were in your iPhoto LIbrary prior to the upgrade to iPhoto 11?  If so then apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
If that's not what you're referring to then you should describe what is happening in more detail. Remember we can't see your Mac or your iPhone so need detailed and accurate descriptions of what you're experiencing.
Also we need infomartion like do you have an iCloud account and are you logged into it on all of your devices, iPhoto and Mac? do you have Photo Stream enabled on both.

  • Can't sync iphoto folders to iphone

    hi all -
macbook running 10.6.8, using iphoto 8.1.2, fully updated itunes on the macbook, and fully updated iphone 4.
trying to sync specific folders from iphoto on the macbook back onto the iphone. currently, the CONTENTS of the three folders (46 photos total) in iphoto show up in the iphone's photo library, AND the three folders show up on the phone, but the folders are empty.
ALSO trying to figure out how to set it so that when i plug in the iphone to the macbook, ALL photos are automatically imported to iphoto and deleted from the iphone, and then the three folders on the macbook are sync'd back onto the iphone.
any help is appreciated. this isn't an issue with my son's (my tech support) iphone 4 and his older version of iphoto, on his older laptop.
    thanks.

I have this problem as well, but I have my iPhoto set up in a funny way. I used ACLs to share the photo library between my account and my wife's account (why Apple doesn't make this easier, I don't know, as lots of families share photos). If I am syncing successfully on my account and then switch to my wife's account, none of the photo albums show up in iTunes for syncing. If I quit iTunes, launch iPhoto, quit, and relaunch iTunes it works fine. But then I have to do the same thing once I switch back to my account.

  • Random photos in my iphoto folders aren't synching to my iphone. Any idea why?

For the last two weeks or so, random photos that I put in my iPhoto folders to be synched to my phone aren't transferring over.
There seems to be no criteria for the ones that don't transfer, and the image counts in iTunes confirm the correct number of pics in the folder, they just never make them to the phone. Any ideas?

Try deleting the photo cache >  iTunes: Understanding the iPod Photo Cache folder

  • Complete iPhoto library not displayed by Apple TV

I have the 2nd generation Apple TV with home sharing active with MacbookPro 15" with all the latest iLife '11 software. One issue is that events from one iPhoto library are displayed in a different order on Apple TV than on iPhoto. No big problem, but confusing. Second, bigger issue is with larger iPhoto library (51,000 photos and 850 events). Only about 1/4 of the events show up in Apple TV, and strangely, they are in the same order as in iPhoto. The Apple TV apparently has an 8GB flash memory for buffering. Is this a limiting factor in how large an iPhoto library that can be displayed by the Apple TV?

There is a limit based on the 8GB internal storage on the ATV2. I confirmed this with Express Lane support today. ATV2 will try to load your entire library but will stop when it gets to the limit and does not provide any messages stating that the limit has been reached. This means that you will get roughly the first 20,000 of your library, starting with the most recent.
The work around is to select which albums or folders from iPhoto that are to be synced, much like you would do for an iPod or iPhone that can't fit your whole music or photo library. This selection process is done in iPhoto's Sharing preferences where you select Share my photos and choose the second option to Share selected albums. Note that the list will contain iPhoto folders as well as albums.
Once you reach the 8GB limit, you may also have a problem playing the video files in your iPhoto library that appear to have been synced, as the full videos are not loaded until they are selected for playing. Once that is tried, ATV2 will likely crash as the 8GB limit is exceeded. No harm is done to your library that is safe.
This whole process is not well supervised by the ATV2 system as it keeps the user in the dark.

  • How do I get Photos - iPhotos to work with my iPhone

I have a 2 month old Mac Mini, and noticed a system upgrade available 10.10.3 - I always download all that are offered.  10.10.3 loaded, and I proceeded to open iTunes and iPhoto and plug in my iPhone, All went well until I noticed PHOTOS  I opened it to see what it was and was asked to selected a library as it seemed the only option on offer I did and found a mass of over 3500 photos  in folders that I did not totally recognise, including one of Face photos. It was only then that I noticed a NO ENTRY SIGN on iPhotos.  Thanks to some Mac Forum advice I have now been able to install a new iPhotos 9.6.1 to replace this but I now have a big problem that I cannot edit the photos on my iPad or iPhone.
    I have 10.10.3 installed with iPhoto-9.6.1 - PHOTOS-1 - iTunes-12.1.2.27 & iOS-8.3 on the iPhone & iPad.
I Plug the iPhone into the Mac, iTunes can see it, click the camera icon I see a list of 30+ folders - 2 are ticked which are MC, it has 19 photos in it and PP, it has 1 photo in it - which is correct for the iPhone.
In PHOTOS when I plug in the iPhone, a new command appears in the top bar  ‘IMPORT’  click on that and the iPhone icon shows on the left side with a box to tick - ‘open this device’ - click it and the message is ‘NO PHOTOS’. Under Albums I find the same 30+ listed with MC containing 50 photos & PP with 33.
In iPhoto I plug in the iPhone & it is recognised with a  message on the right , LOADING… and there it stays STUCK but not crashed. Down the left side is listed the same 30+ albums, MC with 50 photos & PP with 33.
Question - how do I get Photos/iPhoto/iTunes/to communicate with my iPhone/iPad, to update the photo albums as they did before 10.10.3 & Photos were introduced to my system????    Your help please

    Thanks for your help III
BUT: I really don't get it! About ten days ago or so my iPhone 4s was suddenly able to hold on to the AirPort Express network.
But then yesterday all of a sudden the problem was back again!!! I didn't do ANYTHING! It was just back out of nowhere!
Wi-Fi connection on my iPhone came on... and off... and on... and so on, while my MacBook was working perfectly fine with the network!
So I reset the whole thing again on my MacBook with the AirPort utility, I reset the AirPort Express and I reset my iPhone... still not working... Honestly this freaks me out. Especially because it worked for more than a week and as I said I did not change a thing!!!
Does anyone have any ideas how to solve the problem other then reset everything? Or is there an explanation around for this occurence???
    Thanks for your Help!

  • IPhoto duplicating photos upon connecting iPhone

    Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.1
    iPhoto 9.6
    iPhone 4S iOS 8.1.2
Upon connecting my iPhone to my MacBook to import photos, iPhoto displays duplicates of every photo.
This problem manifests itself regularly (though not every time) and began after upgrading to OS X Yosemite.
Any thoughts on cause / solution?

    See this discussion:
iPhoto duplicating photos upon connecting iPhone
Are you shooting HDR or Burst photos?
If not, It seems to be a new bug, with no known clear solution.
The latest theory is, that dismounting the iPhone and mounting again will make the duplicates vanish from the import window.

  • Why do iPhoto folders look different on iPad?

Why do iPhoto folders look different on the iPad?  When I launch the Photos app on the iPad you get a list of photos and photo albums that I have synced from my laptop.  All is fine.  However...
The photo albums are in a different order.....I can't see name or tag data with the folders .... impossible to search for specific pictures by name......Mainly, the entire interface is so different.  Instead of simple vertical list of photo albums (as on the Mac or the iPhone, iPod,  the iPad presents you with an array of those graphic-image photo piles -- the ones where the first picture in the album is shown on top, etc.
Does this bother anyone else? Anyway to make photos and photo albums on the iPad more closely resemble the photo/album list you see on the Mac?
    David in KC

The Photos app on the iPad is just a basic photo viewer and isn't as sophisticated as iPhotos on the Mac and has limited functionality. Third-party apps will probably give you more of the functionality that you mention, but you can't change the Photos app.

How can i access iphoto to apple tv with iphone?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
If you mean iPhoto on your phone use AirPlay if your phone supports mirroring, if you mean iPhoto on your computer, you can't do it from your phone.

I have 300 apps organized in folders on my ipod touch 4th gen, and connected my iphone 4, these apps have copied over but none have been placed in folders, any ideas how to replicate folders from ipod to iphone...?

What may work is to restore the iPhone fom the backup of the iPod.  However, if the two devices ahve different apps that come with the device, that may mess up some of the folders.

  • Just purchased a new iMac and transferred all info from my old iMac. Now when using iPhoto slideshow is displays the pictures in reverse order.

Just purchased a new iMac and after transferring all info from my old iMac.  Now when using iPhoto slideshow it  displays the pictures in reverse order.

There's a bug in iPhoto 9.5.1 and Mavericks that affects slideshows played directly from an album.  The slideshow will not play correctly if the photos have been sorted manually.  Any other type of sort, date, rating, keyword or title, will play correctly.
If you need that manual sort of pictures for your slideshow create the slideshow in iPhoto's slideshow mode.

  • Over half my albums in iPhoto won't display the enlarged photo. How can I correct this?

Over half my albums in iPhoto won't display the enlarged photo. How can I correct this?

There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
    1. Permissions in the Library: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
    2. Minor Database corruption: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
    3. A Damaged Photo: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). (On iPhoto 11 this option is under the File -> Reveal in Finder.) Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
    4. A corrupted iPhoto Cache: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/ Library/ Caches...
    5. A corrupted preference file: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
If none of these help: As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
