IPhoto freezes at 393 pictures from 650

Hi folks!
When I copy images over my lan iPhoto freezes sometimes.
I have pictures on my MacBook and want to transfer them to my Macmini over WLAN.
Both iPhoto are set to sharing all there photos. When i click on my MacBook Photos i can drag them all to my Macmini iPhoto library (inside iPhoto not with Finder!). iPhoto begins importing all ap. 650 photos but freezes at 393.
It happend some time ago also with a lesser number of photos.
There is enough diskspace left on both computers.
Has anyone experienced similar problems?

These Problem occures only over Airport Connections.
When I plug my MacBook into the LAN via ethernet everything is fine.

  • Iphoto erased all my pictures from my macbook air. I have no back up, is there any way to recover them? Now it is clear why Maverick is free...

iphoto erased pictures from my macbook air. I have no back-up. Any way to recover them?

    A few things to check:
Do you have more than one user account? If so, are you signed in to the correct account?
Are there multiple iPhoto Libraries? (Hold down the option key, while opening iPhoto) Also, check the Trash, I've heard of iPhoto libraries ending up there for some reason.
If you are certain the library you are looking at is the correct one, try the iPhoto Library First Aid options by, quitting iPhoto (if it is open), then, holding down the command and option keys, launch iPhoto.  Choose the option to Repair Permissions and click Repair.  If that doesn't work, repeat the steps and choose Repair Database. And lastly, if the first two do not solve the problem, try Rebuild Database. *It is very important that you have a backup prior to performing any of the troubleshooting steps.*

  • Iphoto 08 cannot see pictures from this past year in events?

    Hi!
I have been using iphoto 08 pretty successfully this past year, getting used to not being able to access the files directly, uploading on to snapfish, and accessing my photo library on the external hard drive.
well, tonight I was trying to post a picture on to facebook, was browing old pictures from 2004. after not finding what I was looking for, i scrolled back down to pictures I uploaded just last night and voila........the last event folder is dated December 2007
What happened? I see them when looking through my finder (i have leopard) and I see the file path but I do not see them in iphoto 08.
please help, I must have uploaded thousands of pictures in the past year........

Sounds like a damaged database file:
Try these in order - from best option on down...
    1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
    2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

  • Iphoto freezes on certian pictures

When viewing pictures in the same window as when organizing but using the edit funtion and pressing the arrow keys to go back and forth between photos Iphoto seems to freeze or stall on certian photos regularly. When it does so I can't go to see another pic or go back. There also are like white borders on the inside right and bottom where the picture should be however the picture is now gone and all i have is gray with the two white borders. I can go back to the organize window but then when i see the thumbnails I can't click to enlarge any of them and I have to shut down iphoto. thanks for any help or advice.

    Ehrin,
Quit iPhoto and drag the unnecessary iPhoto Library folders to the trash -- they're just taking up disk space. The current one should be the one that has the highest number tacked on the end of the folder's name (unless you have dragged the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file to the trash since the last rebuild attempt). Don't empty the trash right away, in case you want (need) to drag one or more back. If iPhoto starts off by asking for help finding the iPhoto Library, then one of the folders you dragged to the trash was the active iPhoto Library.
With respect to the "problem" images, can you drag them to iPhoto's trash to get rid of them? (If those images are important, drag them from the iPhoto window to a folder on the desktop before you delete them from iPhoto.)

  • IPhoto won't upload pictures from iPhone

I'm having trouble uploading photos from my iPhone 4 to iPhoto on my MacBook. When I connect my phone to the computer, iPhoto doesn't automatically open like it use to. However, if I manually open iPhoto it recongnizes that my phone is connected. When I click on my device it shows that there are no pictures to import, when infact, there are. The last time I uploaded photos from my phone to my computer was at the end of December. I believe there has been at least one or two updates to the iPhone since. Could that have something to do with it? Does anyone have any advice? Thanks!

I updated my phone to iOS 7.1.1 since writing my post, and that seemed to fix the problem. Thank you!

  • Iphoto won't upload pictures from iphone anymore

Hi there, whilst I was uploading my photos from my iphone to iphoto, my macbook battery died (eventhough it said 35 mins left-but that's a different story!) when i reconnected everything iphoto won't let me upload - it keeps saying 'iPhoto cannot import your photos because there was a problem downloading an image.' No pictures are actually in iphoto from the upload when the battery died so I don't know why it keeps saying this. I tried using Image capture but this didn't work either...Can someone help please?

I updated my phone to iOS 7.1.1 since writing my post, and that seemed to fix the problem. Thank you!

  • When I upgraded to iphoto 11 all my pictures from 2011 are gone.  Where are they?

I am devistated.  I can't find the last 10 months worth of pictures. How is this possible?

Restore from the back up you made before updating.

  • IPhoto won't import pictures from CD-R.

The CD's were made on the first model of the dome 15 " G4 iMac combo drive to free up space on the 60G hard drive quite a few years ago.  At the time I checked and the photo's came up from all the CD's in iPhoto.  I now have a iMac 23" with an i3 processor, 1TB hard drive with 700G free space left.  Latest version of software.  It just says preparing for import, and the activity bar comes up.  A couple of times iPhoto has just quit after about 10 minutes, and the last time it went on for about 20 mins with no sign of progressing ( the CDs can only hold 700MB).
I would appreciate any ideas on how I can get access to these family photos, I have 5 CD's worth!
    Thanks
    Best wishes Amer

Hi Terence, I must admit I didn't have a clue how the photo's were saved - I just used the iPhoto help advice available at the time.  What confused me was that my old iMac did just import direct from the disks.  I now know that having followed Larry's advice, they were saved as an iPhoto library because that is the title that came up for the folder in Finder.  Thanks for getting involved.
    Best wishes Amer

  • IPhoto not seeing my pictures from iphone

When I plug my phone into the computer it says I have no pictures on my device when I do. This has never happened to me before. what is wrong. Do I have to reset something?

    Details are critical
You post talks about photos - now you are talking about videos? WHich is it? And how are you transfering - WiFi sync or PhotoStream? PhotoStream as documented does not support video
Which photo formats does My Photo Stream support?
My Photo Stream supports JPEG, TIFF, PNG, and most RAW photo formats. My Photo Stream does not work with video.

  • Destination folder in IPhoto for pictures from iPhone

How can I change or set the default folder in iPhoto where I import pictures from my iPhone4.

This is a long shot but try this:
1 - go to your System/MobileMe preference pane and log out of your MMe account.
2 - try logging in with a bad user name and password to clear the caches.
3 - now log in with your correct user name and password.
4 - launch iPhoto, select your MMe galleries one at a time and click on the publish button
5 - check your online galleries to see if they can not be viewed.

  • IPhoto freezing on print command before print menu appears

Has anyone encountered iPhoto freezing when selecting "print" from the file menu, before the actual print menu appears? I'm not using huge files here -- 600 KB photo, for example -- but I get the spinning beach ball of death every time I try to print a photo.
I have 3000 photos in my library, use Panther, have a five-year-old ibook with a 10 g hard drive so I house my library on an external hard drive.
Sound like a preferences file problem, for example? Any advice anyone can offer would help immensely.
    Thanks!

That's a whole different animal. You didn't move or rename any of the files from the Finder did you?
Do try cleaning out the cache files with OnyX. Also I'd run the 10.3.9 COMBO updater followed by a repair of permissions with Disk Utility. Reinstalling the latest combo updater can clear up a multitude of issues. Finally, is those don't work make a backup copy of your iPhoto Library folder and then launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select all of the options except the last one regarding orphans. Do empty your iPhoto library before the rebuild.
If the rebuild doesn't go as intended and is worse than the original library just trash it and go back to the backup copy. Sometimes it's necessary, most times not. Good luck.

  • IPhoto freezes when importing from MobileMe

I'm using iPhoto '08 7.1.4, on a brand Macbook Pro new running OS X10.5.4. I've only had it for a few days.
I have a 2002 Powerbook running 10.3.9. I'm trying to transfer my iPhoto pictures from the old computer to the new using MobileMe, since the old computer doesn't seem to want to cooperate transferring anything through firewire or airport.
I'm able to upload my photos to MobileMe no problem.
Evey time I use "import to library" in iPhoto on the new computer, it will import one or 2 photos no problem, but then it freezes up when trying to import the 2nd or 3rd photo. This happens whether I try importing a group of photos, or one by one.
Then it keeps saying it's importing, but nothing happens. If I click stop import" it gets frozen on stopping the import, and nothing else happens.
I can't quit iPhoto. I can't force quit iPhoto. And I end up having to restart the computer just to get out of it. This keeps happening EVERY TIME.
Any suggestions and/or explanations? I'm VERY frustrated.
This is a brand new Mac, but iPhoto is acting like I'm using an old PC...

    Denim
I'm able to upload my photos to MobileMe no problem.
Is this to the iDisk feature or to the MobileMe Gallery?
I think you might be better off copying the iPhoto Library Folder from the old machine to an external disk and from there to your new machine. This would be a whole lot faster... Also, if you're using the MobileMe Gallery feature then you're missing various parts of your library and assorted metadata.

  • My Iphoto library is frozen, after tryng to download pictures from my Iphone 5

While down loading pictures from my Iphone5, The computer freeze up, and i had to force quit, and restart, when i try again i had this dialog the Iphoto library had a problem and need to quit, and restart again this time with the option and comand keys, after this, a dialog gave me options, that I try, but did not work.

download iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ -  and use the free trial's rebuild command to rebuild - this creates a totally new library leaving the existing one untouched for future use

  • Good morning, i would like to know how to take pictures from iphoto and put them in a folder on desktop

Good morning: would like to know how to take pictures from my iphoto and put them in a folder on my desktop

To take photos from iPhoto and put them onto a folder on Desktop, first create a folder on Desktop. Right-click on Desktop and create a new folder.
Then, open iPhoto, and you have two ways to export photos:
    1. Select the photos you want to copy to Desktop with Command key (or go to Edit menu > Select All, if you want to copy all photos), and then, drag them to the folder on Desktop.
    2. Select the photos you want to copy to Desktop with Command key, go to File menu > Export, and follow the steps.
You can choose the one you prefer
