IPhoto freezes synching iPhone photos iOS 6

First synch of photos after upgrade of iPhone 4S to IOS6, iPhoto progress bar and twirling color shell kept going, pics never transferred. Had to forcecquitbiPhoto. Retries gave same result.

It took me two calls with Apple Care to figure this out on my own. Check your Camera Roll for any videos that are 0:00 or 0:01 seconds in length. I did the whole iPhoto library Repair a few times, then I started importing my photos/videos a few at a time. The batches worked but then i got to a video that my toddler did that was only 0:00 long and that's when iPhoto froze. I deleted the video from my phone, then relaunched iPhoto and was able to successfully import the remaining items. As a test, i took a bunch of pics and videos after clearing my phone, and attempted to import all. It worked fine!

  • IPhoto freezes when ordering photo

As of today - 29 May 2012, iPhoto freezes when ordering photo prints with the message..
'There was a problem communicating with the Apple Online Store. Please try again.'
I had to 'Force quit' iPhoto to continue.
OK, so maybe the store is down but surely that should not affect the software on both of my computers?

It's OK now - I see the store is open again - but it does seem odd that lack of store makes te application freeze solid!

-iPhoto works fine when nothing connected
-devices never show in sidebar of iPhoto
-Image Capture works fine for devices
-Other USB devices have no effect
-Problem did not exist before TC restore
    Have tried:
    -reinstalling iPhoto
    -restoring device
-repairing system permissions in disk utility
    -deleting com.apple.iPhoto.plist
    -repairing/rebuilding iPhoto library
    -creating new test iPhoto library
I know iPhoto is on its way out, but I would like to fix this until Yosemite and Photos arrive....
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

Try this fix discovered by User photosb189:
From Finder, hold down the option key on your keyboard and click on the Go menu at the top of the screen
Select Library from the drop down menu
Then navigate to Application Support > iLifeAssetManagement > assets
Right click on the 'sub' folder and choose Compress
Drag the resulting zip file to your Desktop (as a backup)
Go to your System Preferences and choose iCloud
Turn OFF the iCloud Photos option
Go back to Library > Application Support and DELETE the iLifeAssetManagement folder
Now, in System Preferences, turn the iCloud Photos option ON
iPhoto should now be able to launch. Give it enough time to re-download your Photo Stream content. if you are missing any of your My Photo Stream photos (more than 30 days old), unzip the sub folder on your desktop and drag that into iPhoto.

  • IPhoto freezes after 46 photos exported

I Photo freezes after 46 photos.  I have tried by eliminating photos and moving them around but it still freezes.  I am trying to export an album of photos to burn to a  CD and it just won't work.
It exports the first 46 then tells me it cannot export the photo which would be 47.  But that should not be the case, since #47 is not the same photo when i go back after moving them around and deleting some.

Where are you exporting to and how much free space do you have on your boot drive.  A test you can run is to  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import more than 47 photos  and check to see if the same problem persists.
If it doesn't then the problem lies with your current library.
If it does then it could be an application issue, user account issue or system issue.
    Report back with the results.

  • ITunes 10.7(21) freezes when iPhone 4 (iOS 6) plugged in

    Hello,
Since the latest iTunes update to 10.7, I can no longer plug in my iPhone, iPod without iTunes freezing. iTunes stops responding, and the only way to get out of it is to force quit.
This occurs accross two 21" iMacs, one running Mountain Lion 10.8.2 and one running Lion. All iDevices are up to date. iPhone 4 running iOS 6. It's an older iPod shuffle, but it worked and sync'd just fine up until the latest iTunes update.
Thanks in advance for any help.

  • IPhoto looses imported iPhone photos

So I've looked around the board for similar issues, but nothing seems to fit exactly with my issue (or offer a resolution), so here goes...
Recently, whenever I try to import photos from my iPhone to iPhoto, an issue arrises in which the actual photo is missing (a large exclamation point takes its place). The thumbnail for the event/photo is present, and when I "Get Info" the picture, it even shows the correct name and GPS location. However, for the life of me, I can't seem to find the original photo. I have tried looking around in the iPhoto Library, but no folders or files exist. Any suggestions?

The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • My iphoto wont sync iphone photos

My iphoto used to automatically open and give me the option to sync photos from my iphone but now not only does it not open automatically, but it doesn't even recognize my phone or give me an option to sync. Please help!

    What version of iPhoto?
    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • IPhoto stopped importing iPhone photos automatically, how to i change this?

so whenever i connected my iphone to my imac the photos i had would back up onto iphoto immediately but now they dont do it at all. How to i fix this? Could it have something to do with icloud?

Your situation really is confusing. Try moving the Originals folder you moved out of the Rescue folder back into the rescue folder. Then move the Rescue folder back into the pictures folder. The Rescue folder should now be as it was earlier. Launch iPhoto with the Option key depressed and, when asked, locate and select the Rescue folder. If it open OK and you have your library as it was before we started you can move the other library to the desktop. Then take the Originals folder out of that library folder and import into your Rescue library. That was you'll have all of the pictures in the library. But before you do, make a temp copy of the Rescue folder (select and type Command-D) just in case.

  • IPhoto freezes while emptying photos in trash?

I have iphoto 4.0.3 and need to delete photos to free up memory space. When I select "empty trash" from the file menu, the application freezes and I have to use force quit in order to shut it down. Has anyone else experienced this problem, and is there another way to delete photos from iPhoto? I have 3000+ photos in my trash and am desperate to free up memory space! Thank you in advance!

How long did you wait before invoking a "Force Quit"?
In iPhoto, go to the trash folder, select 8 or 10 of the images, then simultaneously press Command+Delete. Do those selected images go away?

  • IPhoto freezes looking for photos on an external hardrive

I have a MacBook Pro and am running 10.4.6 and iPhoto 6.0.2
Since my laptop has a limited hard drive I store the most recent photos on my laptop and the rest on an external hard drive. iPhoto allows me to do this as long as I turn off "copy photos to iPhoto Library".
The problem: When my laptop is away from home and my external hard drive, I receive errors the tune of "The volume containing 'filename' cannot be found" Obviously I cannot view a full resolution of a photo that is not stored on the laptop, so I would click 'cancel'. But now it happens at a random time interval after launching iPhoto and it always targets a movie file (*.avi). Although it lists the option to cancel, i cannot click on it because the colored spinning ball of death prevents me from doing anything. I must 'force quit' iPhoto and relaunch.
Does iPhoto have to be connected to ALL the photos in the library at ALL times without recieving errors? And why do the errors happen at random times and not immediately when I launch the program?
Macbook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I haven't tried adding keywords yet. (largely due to the fact that there isn't a universal binary of Keyword Assistant available yet). You've brought up a good idea about storing the movies seperate from the pictures. I might try that if I can think of a good way to do that. What bothers me, is the fact that iTunes already operates exactly as I want iPhoto to. I store all my movies and music videos on an external hard drive. iTunes doesn't care unless I try to play them, and even then it doesn't crash the program. You would think that iPhoto would operate similarly. Perhaps I should just cram a 200GB hard drive into my laptop

  • Problems synching iPhone 4 iOS 6.0.1 with iTunes 11

I'm sure somebody else has this issue as it only started after I upgraded to iTunes 11.
I am not trying to synch over wifi (far too advanced, it asks for a cable) and I get only so far through the synching process and it falls over.  Specifically it gets up to Step 3, successfully synchs bookmarks and mail accounts and then falls over when trying to transfer purchases with this error:
    "An unknown error occurred (1150)."
I've tried turning off the phone, cleaning up my library, synching over wifi, synching manually - nothing appears to work.
    Any tips gratefully appreciated.
    Louise

No I don't have this issue, and I downloaded itunes 11 when it first came out.  I've been able to sync my phone without any problems.  I've actually erased my phone and restored from backup using itunes.
