Iphoto freezes while viewing pix

Iphoto almost always freezes while looking thru pix - the coloured ball comes up and stays like that, I either have to option-apple-escape or I think I can force quit and then the iphoto send error report box comes up, any ideas?

Rebuild your library - launch iPhoto while depressing the option (alt) and command (apple) keys - use the first three options
If this doesn't work download iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ - and use its rebuild function - this will create a totally new library so it if does not do it you will still have your original library

Iphoto freezes while importing iphone photos.

My iphone screen cracked (is 75% grey) and I need to get a new iphone asap. I am trying to sync and it syncs through itunes fine but iphoto freezes halfway on same photo (number each time -I have deleted the photo it stops on but that didnt help.) I have tried force quit and restarting but it does the same thing. Help! I have a new laptop is there a way to sync my old iphone to the new laptop without losing everything? Thanks!

Try getting the photos off the iPhone using Image Capture in your Applications folder.

IPhoto freezes while downloading large cards

My iPhoto 6.04 gets "stuck" when trying to import large numbers of images (like 646 on a 1 GB card). It shows the import window, but the progress bar doesn't show anything, and eventually it freezes and has to be force-quit. When restarted, it will show a partial import.
I can import the images just fine if i use Image Capture to download them elsewhere on the mac, then copy them over to iPhoto. It's just kind of a hassle, and creates duplicates.
Is my problem likely to be with iPhoto, or with the cam, card, or cardreader? Or does iPhoto just tend to choke on large downloads? I have thrown out iPhoto prefs/plist, but i haven't rebuilt the library, which has about 3000 images.

To answer your first question, no iphoto has no known issue with importing large amounts of images at a time. Unless of course you have reached the capactiy for your computer in respect to RAM (iPhoto 6 is memory scalable up to 250,000 images...but it is based on amount of RAM).
If you already pulled the plist for iphoto then I would do the following:
Make sure you are connecting your Media card reader directly to the computer - do not go through a hub.
Remove ~/library/caches and restart computer - test - if issue persists proceed to next step
Reset PRAM by holding down Apple key - option key - P - R during start up of computer - listen for 2 chimes and then release - test - if issue persists proceed to next step
Hold down the option key while opening iphoto - click on create library - attempt to import into the new library - if it works you know that the issue is with your current iphoto library - follow kbase 107947 to rebuild your library - if it does not work then create a new user account and test again - if it still does not work then I would try using a different media card / or a different media card reader.
One common mistake that people make is that they never reformat their media cards between use. Not just erase...but reformat...this is a function of the camera itself, not the comptuer. Consider whether your camera manual has a section on reformating.

IPhoto freezes while emptying photos in trash?

I have iphoto 4.0.3 and need to delete photos to free up memory space. When I select "empty trash" from the file menu, the application freezes and I have to use force quit in order to shut it down. Has anyone else experienced this problem, and is there another way to delete photos from iPhoto? I have 3000+ photos in my trash and am desperate to free up memory space! Thank you in advance!

How long did you wait before invoking a "Force Quit"?
In iPhoto, go to the trash folder, select 8 or 10 of the images, then simultaneously press Command+Delete. Do those selected images go away?

IPhoto freezes while importing photos

I have tried every help suggestion I can find in the Apple Support Community...repairing Library, rebuilding Library, iPhotoManager rebuild, created a new account and had same issue trying to import, deleted preference files, etc.
I'm running OS version 10.9.2 on an iMac. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

Preview hangs while viewing PDF (44MByte)

I have a pdf file that always hangs in preview.
Preview often freezes while viewing this pdf file. You can see the spinning rainbow wheel for a good 10 seconds before it resumes working again.
After page 130 or 140 it is really bad. Scrolling not possible.

I get the same result as you in Preview and in Adobe Reader, I also tried the file in NitroPDF on a Windows machine with the same result.
From these results I suspect a bad file.

Flash Player Freezes While Buffering Then Won't Proceed Even After Computer Restart

I am having frequent problems with Flash Player freezing while watching Korean dramas hosted online (http://www.mysoju.com/empress-chun-chu/). Flash Player freezes while viewing file and then won't proceed past that point even if I close all browser windows and even if I restart my computer. IPhoto 09 Freeze While Updating Library.....Everytime

I recently bought a Macbook Pro 15" 2.4GHz and installed iLife 09. On my previous computer (Powerbook 12" 1GHz) I was running iPhoto 2.0.1. I had copied that entire HD to an external drive. I plugged in the external drive to my new Powerbook and copied the User>Pictures>iPhoto Library Folder to appropriate location on the new HD. When starting up iPhoto 09, I got the message that it needed to update the library. Every attempt I made resulted in iPhoto freezing with the "Updating photo library...Time remaining" message. It often froze with the same amount of time remaining. I have tried several remedies: I deleted the com.apple.iphoto.plist from the preferences folder. I also tried to use BatChmod after following instructions in another forum, but that didn't seem to help. I also downloaded iPhoto Library Manager and used its rebuild function. This appeared to work and all the pictures are present (minus about thirty, but I think they were duplicates), but all 7,000+ got imported with the same date (DEC 31 2000) and were randomly arranged into about a dozen Events. Also, none of the Albums were transported. I don't have time to individually rearrange all the photos and rebuild all the albums. I would be happy solving either one of the problems. Thanks.

Based on what I read in some other threads, I tried forcing iPhoto to rebuild the library by holding command-option while starting iPhoto, but that did the exact same thing. I ended up downloading iPhoto Library Manager and using that to rebuild the library, which worked. There was one photo that could not be copied over (corrupted file or something), so that's probably what was making iPhoto hang. Luckily my mom had a backup on a CD.

double clicking in iPhoto will open the photo.
The left and right arrow key will move between photos, as well as swiping on a trackpad or Apple mouse.

While selected or in the smaller icon view hitting the Delete key will delete the pic.
Command Z will undo the last action taken.
Periodically you have to empty the iPhoto trash. iPhoto drop down menu>empty trash
Same applies for viewing pics in a Folder NOT in iphoto, Use the up and down arrows does not work in Preview, but as you know in QuickLook (spacebar) the up and down arrows will navigate.

Birds eye view of photos - like iPhoto's 'Events' view

I switched from iPhoto to Lightroom. I love Lightroom. That said, I really miss iPhoto's 'Events' view. I'd love to see a feature in Lightroom that matched it's ability to quickly survey all of your photos.
'Events' view shows one image for each event (e.g. day or shoot; you can choose which image this is). When you mouse over an event photo it acts like a little flipbook - moving your cursor from left to right flips through all the images in the event in order. When you grab the scroll bar the date will show while your scrolling to make it easy to know when to stop.
I'm not suggesting that Lightroom copy this exactly (though that wouldn't be bad) but that there be some sort of way of looking at my whole collection of photographs at once without having to see every photo.
The closest thing in Lightroom is accomplished by treating stacks like iPhoto events. Doing this I can open the Photos folder to show my entire library and choose to collapse all stacks. Mind you, that's only a workaround. I'd love to see a new way of viewing the Library.

Freezes while using salesforce

I was using Firefox on my work laptop until it started freezing while using salesforce.com. It seems to have started around the time v13 came out but i can't say for certain. I've attempted to remedy it by disabling all plugins but that did not help.

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
1. Clear Firefox's Cache
Firefox menu > Preferences > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Offline Storage : "Clear Now"
2. If needed, delete the site's cookies here (this will log you out)
Tools menu > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Then try reloading the page and logging in again. Does that help?

Why does reader freeze while opening some pdf files and others open instantaneously?

I use pdf files created from CamScanner and shared from DropBox. In DropBox, many times (over 50%) while opening the PDF the process freezes and the error message is Adobe Reader is not responding. If you close the program, and re-open the file, it opens fine. I have saved these files to my computer and the same issue occurs. The files are 100-500kb, so I do not think size is the issue. I have reinstalled Reader (11.1.10) and there is no improvement.

Freezing while exporting out of premeire cs6?

I am having problems exporting out of premiere cs6. It completely freezes halfway, all of my settings match, does anybody know why this is happening?? please help.

Thank you Mr. Hunt, I found out that it was one of the clips in my TL it was a motion Jpeg,, I had to export it out as a H.264. Thanks for your help.

Media wont load or freezes when viewing in Premiere Pro CS6 Media Browser

Adobe support contacted me on the phone and said that its a known issue if you have multiple formats or codecs when you try to view media in browser in Premiere Pro CS6 & Prelude it wont load or it will freeze. The Adobe support Tech said he would call back, but had to further research the issue. Its been over 3 weeks and I never heard back?

When you try to view media in browser in Premiere Pro CS6 & Prelude it wont load or it will freeze.
I'm not seeing that behavior with various kinds of media. If it's a known issue, it's the first I've heard of that.
Do you have the latest update of Premiere Pro CS6 and Prelude CS6? You can try Help > Updates to make sure. I see you have an iMac on OS X 10.9. What kind of media are you using? Which GPU is in the iMac? Have you updated the drivers recently?
Your issues may well have to do with your installation of OS X, as well. Certain ways of updating to OS X 10.9 can reset permissions in your Adobe folders so that can cause problems. See this doc: Premiere Pro CC, CC 2014, or 2014.1 freezing on startup or crashing while working (Mac OS X 10.9, and later)

I'm not sure how you got through to support with a CS6 issue, as phone and chat support is no longer available for CS6 users (except installation issues in the first 90 days and activation issues thereafter). Forums are the only option for support for CS6 users, sorry. That said, the agent should not have promised you a call back and not followed up in some form or fashion. I will see if I can look up the case and let the agent know their error.

Iphoto freezes when I try and delete a large amount of photos. I have tried all of the first aid options. Can I only delete small batches? I am trying to organize and edit my 16K + library and deleting small batches is very time consuming. And iphoto is running very slow... Is there simply better software for a large library or tips to erase these photos?

Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
