IPhoto has deleted all my photos

Help me please, all my photos got binned from iPhoto after the power ran out on my Macbook, I didnt intentionally let the power run out, i had scheduled it to shut down but it didnt for whatever reason. Once i got power to it and switched it on i didnt realise immediately but on connecting my iPod to transfere a pic their was nothing, ive been to forums and looked up for help but nothing has worked. Please help.

l. I only have or had one (1) album of photos.
Do you mean by "album of photos" your iPhoto library or that you now are seeing only one album in your library?
Have you checked the obvious places for missing photos - looked into iPhoto's Trash, checked if Hidden Photos" are disabled in the "View" menu?
If your library is not showing all albums that should be there, try if repairing or rebuilding your iPhoto library will turn the photos up again, see Old Toad's post on how to do this:
     Rebuild iPhoto Version 11
If all this does not help,  then tell us please, what happened before your photos vanished.
Did iPhoto crash?
Did you update software or install new software, that you used for the first time?
Did you move your iPhoto library somewhere else? To a new drive or cloud storage?
Did you import new photos?
Did you delete any photos that were apparently not in iPhoto? For example with a cleaing and space-saving application. like Clean My Mac?

  • Iphotos has lost all my photos

Iphotos has lost all my photos, I've tried importing them from the libary but it keeps telling me it doesn't recognise it or the files can't be imported???? Ive also tried Iphone libary manager to retrieve the photos with no luck.

Sorry but you need to provide details
What version of iPhoto and of the OS? What recently changed?
With no information the only possible solution is to restore yoru backup from just before what ever happened happened

  • IPhoto upgrade deleted all my photos - how do I restore them?

Hello, I have just upgraded my iPhoto and it appears that this has deleted all my iPhoto library. Any advice on how I can restore my old photos?? iPhoto appears to have started up as a new user and doesen't have any record of any or my photos or albumns.
    Many thanks

I also lost about 4000 photos, folders all empty, after putting older iphoto library onto external hard drive and opening it with updated iphoto.
found the photos  in the pictures folder (although anonymously as jpegs, have to open them to identify them) but how do i return them to iphoto? and why are the other 5000 photos still visible in iphoto?
when i open the package contents in the iphoto library on the external hard drive there is a folder called originals which has all the photos in, but iphoto seems not to be pointing to it.  hard to explain what i mean but basically the photos exist, i photo library doesnt see them, the other iphoto library on the computer that came with the upgraded version is fine.

  • HT201317 icloud has deleted all my photos - how do I get them back

I started an iCloud account last night as I wanted to be able to get videos off my phone and share them.
This evening when I checked my photo gallery on my iphone all the photos I'd taken over the last 2 and a half years on my iphone had disappeared. Instead my photo library now seems to be populated by photos I've taken on my digital camera.
itunes says my phone was last backed up to the iCloud this evening so I'm worried that all my photos have disappeared.
This is extremely frustrating. iPhone and apple don't make it easy to get your content off the phone (for instance there doesn't seem to be a way to get photos off the phone without iphoto and I can't get it on my operating system).
Is there any way to get my photos and videos back?

  • IPhoto has deleted all my imported photos from my phone. How do i get them back?

When I imported the original photos, I deleted them from my phone.

But the OP already specifically said that he "imported the original photos" to (presumably, from the title) iPhoto, which then deleted them from the iPhone. Therefore, they should be in iPhoto, and one of the options when you're importing is to delete the pics from the phone. If they aren't in iPhoto, something's really screwed up. We're assuming it hasn't yet.

  • IPhoto has shrunk all my photos, please help.

I know this seems mad and I have looked up online and seen that everyone says this can't happen but it has.
My camera is set to take 12mp photos which come out as 3000x4000pixels when put into iphoto.
I looked at my photos today and they were 3000x4000 and vice versa when upright shots and my older photos from other cameras were differing sizes.
I took some photos, not changing anything on the camera and imported then to iphoto and they are fine.
But all my other photos taken with the same camera at the same settings as before and the older photos are now 360x270 and crap quality!!
I have checked the originals root folder etc and they are 360x270 as well!
These were not this size this morning.
Has anyone ever known this to happen?
I think I have a back up but if not is I will be very annoyed.
Thanks for any replies and help on how to retrieve.

    Thanks for reply.
In my iphoto library I had differing sizes of images, ranging from 360x270 to 640x426 (old pics with old camera and differing friends imports) to 4000x3000 (new camera I got in December for going on holiday to New York) This camera is set to take 12mp images and has not been changed since I bought it.
Yesterday, I looked at my images, including those of New York and they were all of differing sizes and my images of NYC were 4000x3000 and ranged from 2-4mb in file size.
When I import my images I do as I have always done for the last 3 years. Copy images into a folder on my desktop, named what they are (New York December 2010) then drag into iphoto to copy. This procedure lets me see in the root folder library what the folder is called, i.e. (New York December 2010) rather than "Roll 236" for example.
If this means that I imported thumbnails then why were the images of the proper size? 3000x4000 and 2-4mb.
So then I installed Snow Leopard, not a clean installation, so to keep programs etc.
Stupidly, I didn't take a back up of the new images of New York.
After the install I uploaded some images, exactly the same way as I always do, and as stated above.
The newly imported images are as I would expect 3000x4000 and 2-4mb.
However, my NYC pics are all 360x270 and 40-70kb now. This is both in iphoto viewer, the root folders (data, originals and modified).
If this is to do with the Snow Leopard install, which is the only conclusion I can come to, then why?
I know this is my fault for not doing a back up of the new photos, so any answers stating "do a back up", thanks, but that doesn't help me!
The reason is because every post I can find relating to the install of Snow Leopard and iPhoto is regarding the complete loss of images and data, not the resizing of images. So what I am hoping is that as the "New York" images are still there but smaller, there may be some way for someone who really knows what they are doing to get these back to there original size.
    Is this possible?
Thanks for any help and replies.

Also, are you sure you are talking about iPhoto?
10/10.3 added the Photos app which replaced the iPhoto app icon in yur dock. You can still use iPhoto by clicking on iPhoto in the apps folder.

  • IPhoto has forgotten all my photos

After importing pictures from the holidays, iPhoto 6.0.5 no long seems to know about any of the hundreds of older pictures from the past couple of years that were in my library. I don't know if the import had anything to do with it or if I simply didn't notice the loss of the photos until after the import.
My pictures still appear to be in the folders where they are supposed to be. If I double-click on them they open in Preview. It's just that iPhoto 6 no longer knows about them.
How can I fix this? And how do I fix it without losing the newly imported holiday pictures that are the only pictures currently in my iPhoto library?

Taking a clue from Terence Devlin and Old Toad, I restored an older copy of Library6.iPhoto and now iPhoto seems to be aware of all my old photos. I did have to reimport the last few rolls, but that wasn't too bad.

  • Iphoto deleted all the photos from my photo library while I was in iPhoto. Is there a way to recover them?

I am using OS Yosemite 10.10.2. I was working in iPhoto 9.6.1 with iPhone 5 attached and moving items from iCloud to iPhoto. iPhoto suddenly deleted all the photos in my photo library and displayed a screen as if I were using iPhoto for the first time. Regardless of what caused this, is there a way to recover the lost photos? Thanks!

You might have accidentally used the Command+Option+Delete key combination described below to move them the to iPhoto Trash bin:
Deleting Photos from an iPhoto Library
1 - from an Event or the Photos mode: select the photo(s) and use the Delete key to move the photos to the trash bin. Then empty the iPhoto Trash bin as follows:
2 - from an album, smart album, book, slideshow, card, etc.: select the photo(s) and use the key combination of Command+Option+Delete to move the photos to the trash bin.  Then empty the trash bin as above.
NOTE: deleting a photo from an album, slideshow, book, etc., with only the Delete key only deletes that photo from that item. Deleting a photo from an Event deletes ALL occurences of that photo in the library.

  • My daughters ipod touch 8gb camera keeps saying no memory left but we have deleted all her photos ??

my daughters ipod touch 8gb wont let her take any photos it keeps saying memory full? she has deleted all her photos and it still says the same she has 55 games on it could it be that . im totally clueless when it comes to technology please help !!!

    - Try resettimg the iPod. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - If you go to Settings>General>About what is the avaialbe capacitY
    - Next would be to sync the iPod to the computer. With the computer connect to the iPod, also clik on theiPOd under Devices in iTunes.  Near the bottom of thpage ther is a colored bargraph showing the distribution of the storage on the iPOd,.  What are the values.
    - The restoring the iPod from backup
    - Finally, restoring the iPod to factory defualts.

I have a iPhone 5.  In usage, it says i have 2.1 gigs used because of photos and camera.  I have deleted all my photos via iPhoto and now reset the phone back to factory settings in order to try to solve this problem, to no avail.   Both iTunes  and the phone say that 2.1 gigs are being used, even though the phone now has nothing on it.  What is going on?

Yeah it works fine over wifi the problem is when I try to use it over my 3G. It's really stressing me out now.

  • Hi,  iTunes is no longer syncing my iPhoto library to my iPhone 4. Everything was syncing fine when I first got the phone, but, over the past week or so, it's stopped syncing photos.   Now, after attempting to start from scratch by deleting all the photos

    Hi,
iTunes is no longer syncing my iPhoto library to my iPhone 4. Everything was syncing fine when I first got the phone, but, over the past week or so, it's stopped syncing photos.
Now, after attempting to start from scratch by deleting all the photos on my iPhone, iTunes won't sync ANY photos from iPhoto back to my iPhone. I've restarted my phone, computer, etc., force quit all photo-related apps on my iPhone, and tried various combinations of turning iTunes' photo syncing on/off, switching photo sync folders, etc., all to no avail -- I can't get my iPhoto library back on to my iPhone no matter what I do.
Anyone encounter a similar situation? (I've already sent feedback to Apple.) Thanks in advance.

Try deleting what is called the iPod Photo Cache.

  • Ok somehow my sister deleted all my photos off my photo booth and now all my pictures in my iphoto i cant view them i just see white dots and boxes can anyone tell me how i can get my deleted photos back and how can view my photos again please !!!

ok so somehow my sister deleted all my photos off photo booth and now all my photos on iphoto i cant view them i want to know how i can get my deleted photos back and how to view the rest of my photos please help !!!!

Phonebooth is in your home folder under pictures with Iphoto and Ichat. Deleting pigtures from phonebooth should not remove any from Iphoto library. Something else had to happen.

  • Iphoto 9.5.3 deleted all my photos

iphoto 9.5.3 deleted all my photos today and I can't find them anywhere on the hard drive

You may have accidentally booted into Safe Mode (Mac OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode?).  This can happen occasionally, when you turn on a Bluetooth keyboard or mouse, while the Mac is starting up. In Safe Mode all non-standard system extensions and start-up items will be disabled. Advanced options of the graphic card will not be available, and iPhoto will be much slower. That would explain the slowness you are seeing.
Restart your Mac, and make sure, that all Bluetooth devices are turned on, before you restart.
Disconnect any backup drives or volumes, that might contain bootable partitions, before you restart, to be sure you restart from your main system drive.
oh and before I forget, the file size of iphoto in the application folder is 1.7 GB !!!
That is the current size of iPhoto 9.5.1. That is perfectly o.k.
But how large is your iPhoto Library in the Pictures folder? Do you keep your iPhoto library in the default partition in Pictures?

  • I deleted all my photos on iphoto and want to restore them back

I deleted all my photos on iphoto library and then i deleted it in trash too and now I want to retrieve all those photos back! Is it possible?

    Well that's a lesson learned.
File Salvage - you can download a free trial and it will scan the disk for you and tell you with might be recoverable. Actual recovery will require that you purchase the app. There may be many files with the same or similar names. Always recover the largest file size.
There are other such apps. Search on Macupdate or the App Store
