IPhoto has detected inconsistencies - repair

The above message started to appear after I switched my library from one user to another, I have downloaded iPhoto Library Manager and am trying to rebuild it but I get this error:
*** -[__NSPlaceholderArray initWithObjects:count:]: attempt to insert nil object from objects[0]
I have no idea what this means or what the problem is, any ideas on how I can around this?

As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

Can anyone help me.  I have iPhoto 9.2 and  Mac OS X 10.7.2.

I have read plenty of the posts on the subject and it seems that deleting the "3ivx" fixed the problem.  I looked at the detaied reports and see where it says "
    Library/Application Support/3ivx" etc..
On my report it says "/Library/Application Support/iLifeMediaBrowser/*/iLMBiPhoto8Plugin".  Does this help with an answer?

I am also having this crashing problem. I am running lion on a 2010 mac mini. My iPhoto library is kept on an external drive. I just upgraded to iPhoto 11 and everytime I try to enable photo stream the app crashes. I have tried all the above suggestions, including re-installing iphoto from the Mac App store. Below are the first 50 lines of the error message. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • I keep getting the message iPhoto has detected inconsistencies in your library but after repairing it it just quits

i keep getting the msg "iphoto has detected inconsistencies in your library, and after it goes thru a lengthy repair process it just quits. it has done this several times, cant get past this it just keeps doing the same thing.

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

I hope someone can help I'm out of ideas now. Everytime I open iPhoto im faced with a dialog box saying "iPhoto has detected inconsistencies in your library" "Click repair to avoid problems." This has no effect all my pictures seem to be there and all their data like location and faces. its just annoying every time i open iphoto. I've tried the Repair had no joy with that. Also tried the iphoto in built rebuild manager still aint having it.
    Please Help

    1. Mak a back up. This is vital. Don't skip this step.

  • Keep getting error message that iphoto has detected inconsistencies and needs to rebuild

while adding photos to library keep getting error message that iphoto has detected inconsistencies and needs to rebuild the library..how do I fix?

    By rebuilding your library.
Back up your iPhoto library before you do that.
If iPhoto is open, quit it.
Hold down the Option and Command keys while you open iPhoto (click the iPhoto icon in the Dock).
The Photo Library First Aid window opens.
Click "Rebuild database" and click the "rebuild" button.
If this does not solve the problem, see "option 2" in Terence Devlin's post here:

  • IPhoto has detected inconsistencies in your library, multiple iPhoto users

We have a MBAir with OS X 10.8.4.
We are two users of the same computer with 2 different user profiles. Our user profiles, imessage - facetime accounts, even system languages are different.
However, we want to use the same iPhoto library, therefore I've created a diskimage and had both users' iphoto addressed to the same iPhoto library which works. Both users can make changes in the iphoto library and the other user will see the last updated version when he logs in.
...however, we come up with 2 error messages. Not always, but very frequently.
1- "iPhoto has detected inconsistencies in your library.
Please click repair to avoid any potantial problems."
When I received htis error message, I clicked repair for a couple of times, but the error message comes up again and the repair takes very very long time. So I don't click repair button anymore. I don't know what it repairs.
2- "Insufficient disk space, iphoto cannot import your photos... "
This error may appear 1 time and when I click o.k. it just disappears and I can work on iPhoto as I want.
Sometimes, it keeps nagging 3-5 times and then dissappears after clicking O.K. everytime.
And sometimes it keeps appearing endlessly, every time after clicking o.k.
MBA has 512 GB storage where 300 GB is empty, so there is sufficient disk space, that's for sure.
I can imagine that this problem probably occurs because both accounts have its own PhotoStream linked to iPhoto (from mobile devices) ,and both accounts keep importing the Photo stream photos but I'm sure that there should be a fix to it.
I'd really appreciate if anyone could help, it's quite frustrating.

Where is the disk image located?  How big is the library as reported by the Finder? Although using a disk image is one of the methods suggested for sharing a library between users on the same Mac, it's been a problem for many.   How much free space do you have in the disk image.
I'm thinking this workaround would work better for you: partiton the HD to give a volume just for the library that both user accounts can access. Set it to have enought room for your library to grow.  But don't let your boot volume go betlow 10-15 GB free space.
Have that library volume set as shown below and to ignore ownership:
Are both users have their own iCloud account or are they using the same account?  I would think it would have to be the same account because a library can only sync to one account. Therefore I don't think the PS syncing would be involved.
Another option would be to use an external HD.  Some are as small as a mouse:  OWC Mercury On-The-Go Pro USB 3.0 & 2.0 / FireWire 800, and 2.5" SATA Portable External Hard Drive & SSD and are powered by the Mac.

  • Aperture has detected inconsistencies....

    Ok Hi..
I started using the aperture on s/leopard ..now using lion.
I imported the photos and placed into projects. No problems. As i had limited space on my hard drive, i saved to external drive. It stores in folder called Aperture and sub name when inside is..Aperture Library.aplibrary.
Now...the other day, half way through importing some photos, we had a power cut. When i went back into aperture and now every time, it states Aperture has detected inconsistencies in your library. Please click repair to avoid potential problems.I click repair, it states its repairing the library. After 100%it goes in.Half way down the library albums it has a file recovered folder and then inside that recovered project. But there is nothing inside. It does same every time whether or not i cancel or repair.I dlete both, but every time i re visit...message comes up .
Now like I photo, i like to keep copy on anothe drive,so i drag and drop onto another drive
as i am transferring over stuff...it states, there is already a file called aperture etc....but there isn't one there.
    Any thoughts please?

    Clem/Marc
First of all thanks guys for responding.Assuming that you are all still in bed over there, im just off to work so will give you up date.
I did as Marc suggested, and being pretty new to mac from windows...i did the verify and repair and this actually sorted out quite a few old issues i had( thanks Marc)Anyway, having done that i then got into my current version of Aperture which was 3.2.3 and no issues...so cheers on that.
I then downloaded the update for 3.3.
When i went to install/start up, it stated that if i tried to start in the original location,it stated the library"apertue library" is open in null..to open this library in aperture you must quit null..got to step one of ten 43%.
Anyway...it let me install into new location.
How do I import my projects from the previous 3.2.3 version to the newly installed 3.3 version...
None of which is a major issue as i have only just started to yranfser over from Iphoto
Many thanks again in advance...oh and i have 1 TB free space on my External Clem thanks

  • Aperture has detected inconsistencies in your library.

After upgrading to Aperture 3.2.1 and after reconnecting most of my files I keep receiving this message "Aperture has detected inconsistencies in your library." upon opening Aperture. Because I had to reconnect all files and I had the projects split out according to different days (project, project 2, project 3, etc), I merged all split out projects each.
Now when I start Aperture, it 'repairs' the datbase, but several previously merged projects are again split.
Any suggestions to repair the repair process is much appreciated

    something very strange happened:
after deleting all the sub projects and emptying the Aperture-trash, I quit aperture and restarted the program.
Again the message "Aperture has detected inconsistencies in your library." appeared
repair... and then in the side-bar all previously deleted sub-projects reappeared, but now together with the other 'previously-deleted--sub-projects'  and they were visiblie again as empty black boxes in the main viewer window when clicking on the side bar on <Projects>.
Deleting them, emptying trash, quitting Aperture and restarting Aperture gives again the warning followed by repair process
and the previously deleted sub-projects are there again!

  • Iphoto says it has detected inconsistancies in library What should I do?

iphoto says "iphoto has detected inconsistancies in your libray" I click repair and then it happens again a few hours later.
What does this mean? What should I do?

What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later...
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

My iPhoto has dumped all my albums. I have ran and re ran all the repair and re build programs, nothing is working, how to I get my photos back???

Just as an FYI: some people report issues where their albums are missing but their photos remain. Some mention photos going but the albums still present, just not populated.
There is no iPhoto 10.8.2. Perhaps you're referring to the version of the OS you have? Not especially relevant, the version of iPhoto is what's needed here.
I mention this should you seek help in the future.
For me: vague and incomplete would describe your attempt at seeking help. You're too lazy to give an accurate description of your issue, too lazy to tell us what you've tried to repair it - so we don't waste time your time (and ours) making suggestions you've already tried - and when asked don't respond except to abuse the person who tries to help you.
    Good luck with your issue.

I updated iTunes to 10.4 version and now it doesn't start and send a messages "iTunes has detected an error and must be closed". Someone have the same problem and how can we repair our installation insted of change the windows XP installation? Best regards

Only way to get iMac starting again was to re-install 10.4.4 from DVD, and then update it into 10.4.6. For a while it worked perfectly, just as before.
Then I tried to print to CD with my EPSON Stylus Photo 950 from Adobe Photoshop Elements (2.0). It didn't print anything, but printer started flashing all lights. The print job was not performed, so I did remove it from the Printer Utility. After that the iMac started "ticking" again, same noise than before, after 10.4.7 installation. I did re-boot iMac. It never started, it does stuck on gray screen (gray block running clockwise). HW test from DVD didn't find any problems (extended search looping 3 times). But Disk Utility found hard drive to have inaccurate node structure, it could not fix it.
Apple support recommended to use DiskWarrior. However, it does not support (yet) Intel Macs. I haven't got TechTool Pro 4.5.1 anywhere. iMac does start on to FireWire mode (T at boot), but I cannot see the disk from 10.2.8 iMac.
So, obvisously the problem is not 10.4.7. I believe it to be ESPON printer driver compatibility on Mac OSX. This does not suprise me, EPSON printers *****, I shall never purchase one again. However, disk catalog structure should not get messed by one faulty printer driver!

I select repair, enter my password and I get the following:
The iPhoto Library is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have permission to make changes to it.
This happened a few weeks ago and I have been fumbelling around trying to fix it. I have no backup servers or shared access. My iPhone and iPad 'used to' pump pictures via iCloud but this has stopped.

    PLEASE HELP!

Similar problem but not quiet the same:
Please bear with me as I am very new to this subject.
1: Using a MacBook Air OSX 10.7.5 and it is WiFi connected to a Time Capsule.
2: Overnight I have done a complete back-up. Checked the data files and all correct.
3: I can open the files on the TC except for the iPhoto Library as I want to check visually that they are there. All 2,388.
4: The iPhone Library on the TC will not allow me to look in.
5: the iPhoto Library on the MBA allows me access and I can view etc all the 2,388.
Q1: So why can I not look into the TC's iPhone Library? Or how do I open that library so I can look in?
Q2: how can I export data back from the TC to the MBA if ever I needed to do that?
Thanks for helping out a virgin in these matters.
