Iphoto has disappeared keeps wanting upgrade

I have no iPhoto installed and therefore cannot be upgraded. Install iPhoto

You do not have the iPhoto applicaiton in your Applications folder? Did you buy the Mini with Lion installed or did you purchase Lion from the App store and installed it?
If you don't have the iPhoto application where are you getting the message that it needs to be upgraded?  There are two items you should determine that are there or not: 1 - the application located in the Applications folder; and 2 - the iPhoto Librarty located in your Pictures folder.
Check to see if they are there or not and get back with the answers to all the questions asked.

  • My iphoto has disappeared and photo library

I have been looking at similiar problems but nothing seems to be exactly like my problem.  My iphoto has disappeared from my doc.  There is no "iphoto" in the applications.  When i go to my iphoto library I get this message. "There is no application set to open the document "iphoto Library".  I do not have back-up for photos.  I do not want to lose them if at all possible.  I do have my start up disks for my computer.
    HELP!

Well put in the applications install Disc.   Received this message:
"The installation failed."  An unkown installation error occurred.
The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail.
Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.
I tried this several time and have come up with the same message each time.!

  • Iphoto has disappeared on all my computers

Ok I did not throw it away on any of my computer systerms. I have 3 macs and iphoto has disappeared on all of them. I plugged in my camera and that when I noticed its missing. On computer the icon is there but in the package is only music. WTH is going on. Is there a mac virus going around or something? Its not possible for this to suddenly happen on all three machines. One is an old MacPro that doesn't even have the latest on it. Did apple get rid of iPhoto? and deleted it without informing me?
I just called a friend and she was shocked to see it disappeared of her computer also
    anyone know whats going on?

Who knew that you has upgraded AND done it with an erase and install option - if you don't other to tell us what you have done then we certainly can not guess
You do not have to buy iLife - it came on your computer and you can install it again after the upgrade -
reinstall iPhoto - go to your receipts folder ("Your hard drive" ==> library ==> receipts) and remove any iPhoto receipts and reinstall from the restore disks that came with your computer - do a custom install of bundled software only
For more information  <a href="http://www.macworld.com/article/132243/2008/02/pacifist.html"> click here for the MacWorld article on reinstalling OS X applications.</a>
Or if you do a simple upgrade rather than an erase and install (or even an archive and install) you will not erase your applications
With the way you "upgraded" you had to reinstall all of your applications - including, of course, iLife.

  • HT4906 I recently updated to OS X version 10.8.4 and my iPhoto has disappeared. How do I get it back?

I recently updated to OS X version 10.8.4 and my iPhoto has disappeared. How do I get it back?

Updating the OS will not remove any apps, so you need to check out what went wrong there.
Where did you get iPhoto from? Is that a recent Mac? If so you can re-download it from the App Store. It'll be on your Purchases list.

  • My Iphoto has disappeared and my application disc gives me an error at the end of installation, how do I download IPhoto in my situation?

My Iphoto has disappeared all of a sudden. I tried to use my application disc but it gives me an error at the end of installation. I don't have to pay for an App that was already on my computer. How do I download or get IPhoto in my situation?

Is this an iLife installation disk or system install disk?  In either case download the demo version of   Pacifist and open the install package on the disk.  Locate iPhoto and use Pacifist to install iPhoto.  Then you'll need to apply the latest updater from the Apple Downloads webpage:
Apple - Support - Downloads.  Just search for the iPhoto version you installed to get the updaters for that version.

  • My iphoto has disappeared, very upset as I dont want to have to pay for it agian

My iphoto has disappered and i am so upset, im not very computer savey and still getting used to the mac, and really close to going back to a pc. Can someone help me find my iphoto without having to spend any more money...

    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.

  • Help!  My folder in iphoto has disappeared

    Hello
I have 12 folders in iphoto, which each have many albums.  I try to keep just 12 events as well which match the names of my folders.
My folder called 'work' has disappeared.  It doesn't seem to be in any of the other folders.  However the event called work is still there with all the photos in (but they are not organised at all).  How do I get my folder 'work' back?  How can I find it?
Please help - as this is quite worrying.
    Katie

Restore from your back up is the simple solution.
Otherwise remember: we cannot see your machine. There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 8 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS.  So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Basic things like :
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For instance: 'iPhoto won't export' is best explained by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • IPhoto has disappeared!!! How do i get it back??

    HELP!!
My iphoto is/was located on an external harddrive. it was workong fine. the only 2 new things i did was register my computer to DropBox & re-plugged in my external harddrive via a newUSB 3.0 Hub, to give me extra USB ports. My externaldrive then started making continious noises, a bit like bleeping. When i clicked onto iphoto it asked me which library did i want to use (before my computer never asked me this it just went straight to iphoto on my external harddrive) & there was no options. & my external harddrive wasn't showing up on my computer!
Where has my iphoto gone &how can i get it back???
    Please help! SOS

Take the EHD off the USB hub and plug it directly into your Mac.  Then launch iPhoto and see if you can find the library and open it.
Is the USB hub self powered?

  • My iPhoto libary disappeared shortly after upgrading

Seems like this topic is becoming pretty common for Apple to be ignoring it.  After the Yosemite upgrade, and I believe also the iPhoto upgrade, my wife found she could no longer access her photos.  I tried helping her with it, including upgrading the library, which iPhoto prompted us to do.  This seemed to have crashed the computer multiple times as it locked up for a complete day.  We tried several days of this. We just thought it might have taken that long for a 300GB library of photos.  However, now that we thought we got the upgrade complete, the library is not readable by iPhoto.  I have tried to import it, as I can see that the iPhoto library exists on my external hard drive, even shows that it is 300+ GB, but it will not open them.  Thanks a lot for any help!
    Max

Okay, I have my library on an external drive.  When I look in Finder, I can find it, and the information under it states it is 302.2 GB.  When I opened iphoto this morning, i get the main screen that tell you different options to import files either from a camera, or from a drive, etc.  I have tried the file > import method, and also dragging the library into the main window.  It did nothing.  So then I tried the Alt key when opening iPhoto, and two libraries came up. Both on my Hitachi drive, and one of them was a backup.  I didn't want to just restore an old backup so I tried the other one.  Nothing happened.  This time I closed out iPhoto and when I reopened it, it again told me I had to update the library, so I went ahead with that, and then I get:
There is a problem accessing one or more files in your iPhoto library. Do you want iPhoto to repair permissions for this library for you?
So I have to do this again? I have done this at least 3 times.  How long should I expect this to take?  I have left it run over night before and made sure the computer didn't go into sleep mode and still nothing completed.
I have iPhoto 9.6 and the drive format is MS-DOS FAT32

  • IPhoto has disappeared, how do I reinstall my photos to the library?

When I open iPhoto, all I get is the spinning wheel. I have already tried BatCHmod and rebuilding my library from the iPhoto Library Manager. Nothing has worked. When I tried to rebuild my library from the iPLM, it says the album data file for this library is malformed. The file is not UTF-8, or in the encoding specified in XML header if XML. Conversion of data failed. How do I get my photos back into iPhoto? Please help, my wife is mad at me for losing the pics. Need help ASAP, Thanks
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    Hi Jason,
You will probably have to create a new library and impor the photos from the old library.
    Close iPhoto
Rename your messed up iPhoto Library to "iPhoto Library_old"
Drag this library to your desktop
Hold down the Option key and launch iPhoto
This is the window you will get
Create a new library or choose a library to open
Choose to create a new library
Once this new empty library is open it is time to import the images from your old library
    Go to File>add to library
Navigate to the old library on your desktop and highlight it in the window, then click the "open" button.
iPhoto will start importing the images from your old library
    This is what to expect:
Your images will be imported in nice dated rolls. (make sure your view is set to sort by rolls to see it) There are a couple of caveats to this. You will get rolls named "Originals" These rolls will contain your video clips and your original images that you had edited. If you had RAW files they would be in those rolls too (I don't do RAW, so I don't know for sure) Delete what you don't want from those rolls. You will also get the jpeg pointer files to your video clips imported. They will just be jpegs and will not point to the video clips anymore as iPhoto made new ones when the clips were imported again. You can delete those. they should be in a roll right next to the newly imported video clips so they are not hard to find. The thumbnail files don't get imported as iPhoto makes new ones when the images are imported.
Once all you images have been imported, check through the library and make sure everything looks ok.
You can now start making your Albums, and do your keywords or any other organizational steps.
You can also delete the old library on the desktop.
It is also a good time to backup this new library to CD/DVD by burning the iPhoto LIbrary folder in the Finder, or copying the iPhoto Library folder to an external drive formatted for Macs, or copying the iPhoto LIbrary folder to an iPod.
    Good luck!

  • My iPhoto has disappeared on my administrative side but other users have it. How can I get it back? And where did my Library go?

    I have a MacBook Air OSX 10.9.5
I am the administrator on this lap top.  We have iPhoto on my husbands side still, but I can't find my iPhoto in my applications folder. This Mac did not come with a disc drive so I do not have a back up for the application.  Also, where did my library go?  PLEASE HELP!!

If you husband has it then everyone has it. It would not be in your Applications folder, but the Applications folder at the top level of the disk.

  • Everything in iPhoto has disappeared

A couple of days ago I went to open iPhoto (to sync photos from my iPhone to my Macbook Air so save iPhone memory, as I do regularly) and strangely it asked me to choose a folder, I couldn't cancel or do anything else and to be able to access iPhoto I had to create a new folder. (I've only had my Mac for 2 months so I'm a newbie). After I chose a folder I'd just made, iPhoto finally opened. Except there was nothing there, no events, faces, places. Everything had gone, all my 600+ VITAL photos and videos. I have no idea where they've gone? I dont have an external hard-drive, I didn't delete them. They have just vanished?
I seriously need them back, is there anything I can do or have I lost them for good?
Please reply with dummie instructions, cheers.

Now that you have the library that contains your photos back in the Pictures folder do the following: apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
