IPhoto has just started showing photos from my camera as blank and I cannot import them. Any advice on this please ?

I have just plugged my camera in to download some photographs and they have come up on iPhoto as blank squares. I cannot download them and most of the commands are greyed out when I go on them. It has been working fine up to now. Any ideas on how I can sort this ?

Launch Image Capture and see if it can recognize those photos and download them to a folder on the Desktop.
What camera do you have and does it have a removable memory card? If it does connect it to your Mac via a card reader (your iMac may have one in its side) and copy the photos from the card to a folder on the Desktop. Once you have the photos there and can confirm that they can be read (user Preview to view them) put the memory card back in the camera and reformat it with the camera. Take some test shots and try importing into iPhoto again.

Try a reset. Press and hold the On/Off and Home buttons simultaneously until you see the Apple logo, then release. This may take up to 10 seconds. This is the equivalent of a PC re-boot and you will not lose any data.

I have no clue that you mean by it only shows photos from the camera icon. It has to show the photos in the camera roll of the photos app since those are the only photos that you can import via the USB cable.
There are other ways of transferring photos to a computer, but they involve using third party apps. There are WiFi transfer apps that will do this. DropBox will also let you upload photos to a public folder and then download them to a computer.

My eyes just glazed over...Please in the future break down each of your issues with paragraphs separated by two carriage returns. It would be much easier when trying to address your issues.
Go to Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Keyboard and Mouse -> Mouse
And edit your mouse settings to do what you want it to do.

Third, from my understanding, it would appear you are concerned about the noise the hard drive makes when it falls asleep? Why not put your machine in screen saver mode instead? Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Energy Saver turn off all Energy Saver settings, or set them to run Never.
Fourth, if your machine was purchased just a few days ago, you may still be able to get an exchange from the store, quicker than you can get a repair done. You may want to look into that possibility.
Fifth, it does appear you found the Logic forum. I would persist in asking there how to solve your technical issue with Logic regarding the audio. It may be you don't have to do anything special to the hard drive. Remember audio can be transmitted by wire, avoiding ambient sounds.

Lightroom will not let me import photos from either camera or desktop. I can see them in the preview part of Lightroom but when I click import, just says they can't be read. HELP!

Lightroom will not let me import photos from either my camera or my desktop. They show up in the preview bit of Lightroom and I select the ones i want to import, then add my metadata info etc and file handling, but then when I hit IMPORT just keeps saying they can't be read. SO FRUSTRATING.

I believe DdeGannes suggested permission on the Destination folder (not the source folder). Performing a copy requires only Read&Write permission on the destination folder, not the source folder. You need to go into your operating system and change the permissions to Read&Write on the destination folder. (If you don't know how to do that, go to your favorite search engine and type in Change Permissions Mac)

Iphoto not "seeing" most recent photos from my camera

When I connect my camera to iphoto, it does not see the most recent 27 pictures. They are visible on my camera, but when prompted to import, iphoto only sees the previously imported photos and asks if I want to import duplicates. WTHeck?

Can't import photos from kodak camera, after4 years of successful? importing

I have been using a Kodak Z740 camera for last few years . I now find that while I can see the photos on the camera review, when I import them to iPhoto, I can only see blank thumbnails. Yet if I deep dive into Picture folders I can find them eventually.
I also use iPhone for photos and no issues there.
Any ideas?

My iPhoto has a constant spinning pinwheel. Even Forced Quit does not fix the problem. Any advice?

A little background: I have a feeling I started the problem as I pulled out my camera's memory stick in a rush before I had ejected it on the iPhoto program.

You tv probably has 2 seperate inputs, DVI and HDMI. You will need one these adapters if you want to connect via HDMI however on a machine as old as yours neither the HDMI or DVI will only output video, not audio.

IPhoto 04 can't show photos from iPhoto 06 photo DVD?

On my iBook is still iPhoto 04, it takes photos on photo CDs only when they were created in iPhoto 04, newer burned CDs or DVDs with iPhoto 05 or iPhoito 06 doesn't load as photo CD in the sources area. Any ideas?

Older versions of iPhoto can't read iPhoto Libraries that were created by newer versions, because the structure of the iPhoto Library has changed from version to version to provide new features and greater flexibility. To receive photos on CDs from an iPhoto 5 or iPhoto 6 user, you'll need to ask the sender to export the pictures from iPhoto and then burn the CD in the Finder — just as they would do when sending photos to a Windows user. You will then be able to import the pictures into iP 4 with no problem.

Photos are meant to be uploaded to your computer for archival and storage. Certainly before doing something as major as a software update, you've done this, correct? In this case, your photos should be residing safely on your computer and you can just synch them back.

When I download photos from my camera in preview, I get duplicates on my desktop. Does anyone know how to stop this?

I have been downloading (Importing) some photos from my camera, using Preview. As I select them to import and hit the button "Import", they are immediately saved on my desktop, rather than just appearing in Preview, wher I normally choose which ones I wish to save. Is there a way I can stop this happening? I am using a iMac intel with OS 10.6.8 and Preview version 5.0.3.
Normally, when I Import, I get a preview window with the images I chose. I dont get a secnt set on my desktop.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

I am sorry I should have said Image Capture not Previews. The files end up as duplicates on my desktop or in Pictures. I was told by someone that the same thing happens in iPhoto as well as not being able to select which photos to save and that using Image Capture should be better.
My iPhoto is version 8.1.2 and Image Capture is 6.0.1.
