Iphoto has lost event titles

When I did my last back up I also upgraded iTunes.  I now find that iPhoto has lost all the event titles - originally merging all events into one, but AUTOSPLIT has separated them, although not into the original list, and dates only - no titles.  I have a copy of the originals on a back up drive.  Is it possible to restore from that and recover the titles?

The Event titles? You can't restore them unless you have a back up of the iPhoto Library and not just the original files. Do you?

  • IPhoto has lost an event

Had to replace my hard disk on iMac and was able to successfully restore from timecapsule/time machine. I checked for recently added pictures and all were present, I then upgraded from iPhoto9 to iPhoto11 as prompted by the application, after which one of the recently added events (but previously recovered) disappeared. I have the pictures on my iphone5 as I have not synced my photo's on this since upgrading to iPhoto11, but the pics have been removed from my ipod touch and ipad when they synched. I am confident the pics are on my timecapsule and so should be possible to recover them, but it is not clear a) how i can look or search for individual photo files within the iphoto library, I assume there must be a way of doing so but it is not apparently obvious.
Clearly the issue was caused by upgrading to iPhoto11. Does anyone know how I can find individual photos via finder and how I can search and recover photos from time-machine from my timecapsule.
Thanks in advance for any help or advice.
    Michael,

In the Event Mode set the View options as follows:
Then look at the top/beginning of the list of Events for your missing Event.
If you stil can't find the photos and in case the photos are still in the library package but iPhoto has lost connection with it try the following: make a temporary, backup copy of your library if you don't already have one (Control-click on the library and select Duplicate from the contextual menu) and  apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • I am running iPhoto version 9.6 on a 2012 iMac using OS X Yosemite 10.10.1. One event in iPhoto has lost all photo information, and the photos are viewed very small.

One event in iPhoto version 9.6 has lost all the original photo information, and views the photos as very small.

started in 2007 and transferred to my latest Mac in 2012.
How did you transfer the library to the new Mac?
How did you upgrade the iPhoto application and library after upgrading to Yosemite?

  • Iphoto has lost connection with its folder

    Hello,
One day I turned on my mac, opened iPhoto and found it empty. I've read various threads and know not to be alarmed as I can see the folder of my pics is still there.
I am however having trouble re-connecting iPhoto to this folder. In the past iPhoto has sorted the folder into numerous sub-folders accredited to the year in which the photos were taken. I cannot connect to the main folder that will include these sub-folders. It always wants me to connect iphoto to a folder with only pics in and not a folder with other folders inside.
Am I going to have to go through the laborious business of moving all my photos into a single folder that will then communiacate with iphoto?
    Thanks.

See if you can rebuild your library with iPhoto Library Manager 3.
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download IPhoto Library Manager 4 for OS XC 10.6.8 and iPhoto  8.1.2 and later  or iPhoto Library Manager 3 (for OS X 10.5.8 and iPhoto 7.1.5 and earlier) and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu (iPLM 3) or Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu (iPLM 4) option.
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • IPhoto has empty events

    Hello,
iPhoto has 2 empty events, no images at all in them, can't delete them. What should I do?
    David.

It wasn't as obvious as it sounds..  I had two empty events and had to look around some myself..

  • IPhoto 08 - Editing Event Titles

Okay I consider myself rather computer savvy but i'm beginning to think my new iPhoto 08 simply has a bug.
I keep trying to edit the titles for events, I click on them and the title loads into a text bar and even has the cursor used to highlight/write text. However, if I click on it/highlight it/try to delete it/try to type something new, nothing happens.
Is anyone else having this problem? All I want to do is rename my events. Even when I create a new event and try to give it a title it doesn't let me...
Thanks in advance for any help!

It's done the same as rolls are, in the Info window:

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • I miss some titles at iCloud. In 2010 I purchased an christmas album which inlude a Boney M title. Now I downloaded the album again and the Boney M  title in not in the list and the title was not downloaded. iCloud has lost some title.

Last year I checked my iCloud music and I had purchased over 1700 songs. Now I checked it again but today the counter shows only 1400 songs.
So I lost 300 song during one year. Why?

    Thanks for replying Steve.
I've been battling with this on and off for a couple of days.  Behaviour of my custom DVD template is not stable unfortunately, from project to project.
For example, I make a copy of the entire psd file (the one used in PE4 for the main menu template (Football_pal_s_mm.psd), rename my original to project it from being read or overwritten, then change some of the titles.  I then apply this custom dvd template in a project and let say Title Line 1 through Title Line 5 are showing ok.
If I make another copy of this psd file, and change just the text on say Title Line 2 and Title Line 3, when I apply the template in another project, the new text is seen (the psd file layer is imported correctly into PE4) but now for unexplained reasons, Title Lines 4 and 5 no longer show in PE4 even though they are showing in the PSD file.  I can't seem to find out why this behaviour occurs (i'm working blind here, no relevant documentation that I can track down on these functions).
I'm trying to figure out what determines the visibility of a layer in the PSD file of the template, versus what determines the visibility of the same layer after it has been read/imported into/by PE4.
    Anyone know?

  • IPhotos has lost my Photos when upgrading to Yosemite

When I upgraded to Yosemite like many people I have seen on forums there was a issue with upgrading the iPhoto library when upgrading to 9.6.  Finally it looked like it had worked but now all of my photos do not appear in iPhoto.  The files seem to be there still as the iPhoto library file is still1.26TB in size (i have a lot of photos).  I have tried doing a full rebuild of the Library but it did nothing.  I also purchased iPhoto Library Manager but this does not help either.  Please can anyone help?
I am using iPhoto 9.6, OSX 10.10 (Yosemite) on a iMac (27-inch, Late 2013).  The Library is stored on a "My Book Thunderbolt Duo", 8TB in raid 1 configuration.

Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • IPhoto has lost my photo library?!

iPhoto says I have 6000 photos, which I do, but only 800 appear anywhere on the site. One day they were there and a couple weeks later, the next time I wanted to get to them, they were gone. Help?

I have an aperture library of work photos and 2 of my personal photos. And what's on the cloud. And don't even get me started on Dropbox, which imported every work photo I have two, three, sometimes four times, thereby maxing out my dropbox account--and I had told it no before it took them all. At least it only took the work photos. Trying to get them off is an absolute nightmare.

  • IPhoto library can't be repaired.  IPhoto has lost 3989 photographs and videos.  Why?  And, how to fix?

Where are the library files for iPhoto located?   How do I get to the data file?

Sorry I personally have no idea how to fix your problem with iPhoto.
But in the future, if you can retrieve your image and video files and for all newer files you create or acquire, it would be best to not let iPhoto import your image and video files into the iPhoto Library folder structure and instead copy your image and video files to a folder on your drive then set iPhoto to only create a Librarty database of those files and to have iPhoto Leave the files where you put them.
At least then when, not if, iPhoto fails again you will still have all your files in the folder or folders you place them in.
That is a setting in iPhoto to NOT import images into it Library folders. I forget the exact naming of that option as I'm not on my Mac at this time so I can't look it up.
Also you should consider using Time Machine, if you haven't already, to backup your system for just this type of problem.
    Good Luck & Best Wishes.

  • IPhoto has lost the link to the photo library

When I open iPhoto, it not longer pulls in my photo library.  I have a 2010 13 inch MacBook running OS X Lion 10.7.5 and iPhoto 9.4.3.  I don't know what caused it; I have done no recent updates.  I have backed up everything on a separate hard drive and also have a time machine backup.
I can tell that my photos are still on the computer because of the space that is taken up, but when I try to open photo library, it won't open.  Please help, too many photos that I don't want to lose.

Download and use  Find Any File  to search for a file named "Library6.iPhoto".  It's a file that is in every iPhoto library.  FAF can search areas that Spotlight can't, like invisible folders, system folders and packages.  If your library is somewhere on the hard drive FAF will find it.

  • IPhoto '09 Loses Custom Titles on Import

    Hello, All.
I've searched these forums and others on the 'net and can't find a reason nor a solution.
I import pix from my camera to the Finder, title them manually, start iPhoto and import. Previous versions of iPhoto has retained the titles I give the pictures, but this version only displays their previous title, e.g., IMG_3319, IMG_3320 ... etc. For some reason iPhoto loses my custom titles on import.
Can anyone think of why, or, more importantly, how I can bend iPhoto to my will?
    P.S.
My custom titles usually follow this format:
    010.20090729.NewYork,NY.jpg
    020.20090729.NewYork,NY.jpg
    - or -
    010,20081231,Benfield,PA.jpg
    020,20081231,Benfield,PA.jpg
    - or -
    01020090909SanFran,CA.jpg
    02020090909SanFran,CA.jpg

    You are doing something wrong
If you bring the photos to the finder and rename them, the old names are gone and nothing including iPhoto will use them.
Hence my original question "how are you renaming the files?"
When I want to do that I use image capture to download the photos and name mangler - http://www.manytricks.com/namemangler/ - to rename them
There could be an issue with multiple periods in the name - I've not messed with that - it is possible that your "rename" process simply does not take and the photo file name is left unchanged

  • IPhoto event titles collapsed to one title

I was preparing to email some photos, opened a blank email, went back to iphoto & saw that suddenly my many event titles that had been there a minute ago & that organize nearly 3,000 photos with very specific, very important titles have all disappeared leaving one event title.
I have hundreds of pages of photographed journals & letters that will take days to reorganize. I don't have Time Machine.  iphoto has never been buggy before. Was it a recent update? Is there anyway of getting this information back? I'm devastated (not to mention really, really ******).
