IPhoto help sending email

I keep getting this message when trying to send photos from iPhoto on my MacBook Pro:
"The email server didn’t recognize your username/password combination."
I set up a new email using Hotmail, and the default email is iCloud.  I get the error message on both choices. I don't understand where the email password comes into play.  I've been using the "help" function within iPhoto.   Where can I find a better tutorial for using iPhoto?

The format of the file is not changed by using the email button in iPhoto. Whatever format the photo was in is attached.
If your PC using friends are not able to read the attachment, you can try a few things.
Sometimes, it is just that there is no extension on the file. Windows doesn't handle this well, as far as I can tell.
In Mail, Edit menu, Attachments, choose the options to send windows friendly attachments and add attachments to end of message. However, there is a bug with the second option that doesn't let you attach anything unless there is text in the message, first. So, I'm not sure if it will fail to attach the message using the email button.
Finally, you can select a photo and choose Export… from the File menu. It will let you set the size and some other options (I'm not sure about format), and then you can attach the exported file to an email.
If you don't need to change the file size, you can just drag the photo out of iPhoto into an email message (or just drop on the Mail icon in the dock to create a new mail message with the photo attached).

  • Help: sending email from JSP or MSB problem

    Hi Everyone,
    I have an J2EE application which sends email to a user when a user submit a form. The email is send from Jsp page and MSD using sun.net.smtp.SmtpClient class. The codes for sending email are:
    String to = "[email protected]";
    String from="[email protected]";
    String smtpHost="the mail smtp host";
    SmtpClient client = new SmtpClient(smtpHost);
    client.from(from);
    client.to(to);
    PrintStream message = client.startMessage();
    message.println("To: " + to);
    message.println("Subject: a subject");
    message.println("email body");
    It sends email to internal email account user without a problem. However, when the email reciever's email address is a outside email account such as yahoo, I got the following error message:
    Error 500: 550 not local host yahoo.com, not a gateway
    This email sending system worked ok before for outsider email address in our old email server. We recerently switched to a new email server. The jsp page and MDB can no longer send email to outside account.
    Any help is appreciated.
    thanks

    The Apple Support tech sugests that Hughes is requiring a differnt outgoing server identification for the IPad. Now I can receive emails, but cannot send them.

    Have a new iPhone 5S and can receive email but every email I try to send is copied to the outbox and message says the recipient was rejected by the server. How do I fix that?

    You can't use iCloud to do that.  Any photos in iCloud must also be on your phone.  If you delete them from your phone, they will also be deleted from iCloud and they will be lost.  You might want to try updating your phone using iTunes on your computer (as explained at the bottom of this article: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch iOS software).  It requires much less space than updating over the air.

  • Cannot enter email address in Iphoto to send photo, the minute I press send the email address blanks out...Help??!!

    In Iphoto under sharing, in email, I enter the email address and the minute I click to send the photo, the email address goes blank.  I did set up my account as in my mail account, but the problem seems to be the retention of the address in the address bar going blank.  Help anyone??

    This is with iPhoto as the email client, right?  First try the following:
    1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
    2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
    User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
    or with Mt. Lion from the User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto/
    Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder
    3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
    NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
    NOTE 2:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
    If that is  unsuccessful  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and check to see if the same problem persists. If it does try another test: log into another user account on your Mac and try from there.  If it's reacts the same way a reinstall of iPhoto is warranted.  If you can email from the other account your current account is the culprit.
    Post back with the restuls.

  • Using Gmail in iPhoto and cannot find any of my groups to email.  I have at least seven or eight groups that I email, each containing over 50 addresses. Is there a way to locate my email groups using iPhoto to send out mail in Gmail? Using version 9.5.1

    Using Gmail in iPhoto and cannot find any of my groups to email.  I have at least seven or eight groups that I email, each containing over 50 addresses. Is there a way to locate my email groups using iPhoto to send out mail in Gmail? Using version 9.5.1  (902.17) OS is Mavericks 10.9.1.

    Your question and description is not very clear to me, so hopefully something here will help:
    1. Gmail is a service not an app or a place. So you need to access the service with an app - that can be iPhoto, Mail, Outlook or any other mail client, or even a Web Browser like Safari or Firefox.
    So you can't "go to GMail" as you write, but instead you go to an application set up to use the GMail service.
    2. iPhoto is not a mail client. It's a handy way to email pics to Grandma, but for what you're doing you need to use an app that supports all of the Gmail service. iPhoto doesn't. There is no way around that.
    3. How to send to groups will vary depending on what app you use to access the GMail service. All of these apps can receive photos from iPhoto, either - as in the case of Mail and Outlook, via the Share function - or, in the case of all the rest - via a Media Browser.
    For help sending to Groups using any of these other apps you need to ask omn their respective forums. But the workflow is quite simple:
    Using Mail or Outlook set in the iPhoto Prefereneces:
    1. Select the pic(s) you want to share.
    2. Choose email from the Share function
    3. Make your selections re size etc
    4. The email opens up in Mail or Outlook
    - from there you need to figure out how to use the email client.
    Using any other app:
    1. In the mail app create a new email
    2. Click on the Attach button or link
    3. Use the Media browser to select the pic(s) you want to send
    4. Attach them
    - from there you need to figure out how to use the email client.

    CAN ANYONE HELP??  I ALSO NEED TO KNOW WHICH/WHAT TO PICK FOR MY MAIL CLIENT. I'VE TRIED THREE DIFFERENT THINGS AND NONE OF THEM WORK!

    Mail would be a good choice, unless you are using another email client, like Outlook. There is likely something wrong with the account setup in iPhoto. You may need to delete the account you set up and enter it again if you want to send with iPhoto instead of with Mail.
    Give this a try to see what might be wrong: Drag a photo from iPhoto onto the Mail icon in the Dock. It will create a new message with the photo attached. If you click on the photo in Mail, it should show a popup menu to allow you to set the image size to send.
    Check out some of the links in the More Like This section to the right. There might be some other suggestions.

    I can't send emails from iPhone until I connect to my wifi at home. I am with bigpond and have a bigpond email address. Can anyone help me?

    Try closing the Mail app completely and see if it works properly when you re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
    If that doesn't work then try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • I had a power failure 2 days ago, have power now, but cannot send email from my iPad. Everything was fine before that. The box says cannot send mail, the user name or password for Gmail is incorrect. I haven't changed anything. I need help. Thanks

    Hi
    I had a power failure 2 days ago, my computer is running again, but now I cannot send email from my iPad using Cox or my gmail account. I am receiving mail in my Cox account but not my gmail account.It was working fine until the power failure. It keeps telling me, the user name or password for Gmail is incorrect. I have not changed anything. I don't know what is wrong. Can anyone help me? Thanks

    I agree, unplug and replug your router, then reset your iPad by holding down the sleep and home buttons, ignore the red power down slider, and wait til you see the silver apple. let it reboot and then try your connection.
    Chances are rebooting the router will help. You may also need to talk to cox. They may need to reset something on their end.

  • After upgrade to 10.10, can't send email (SMTP cert. error).  On previous version running on another machine, can still send find.  This new version is missing the "Usual Ports" checkbox option.  Can someone please help?

    I just upgraded to 10.10.  On the mail program, one of my accounts is having an issue sending email.  I am getting the following error message:
    The certificate for this server is invalid.
    Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click Try Later to leave the message in your Outbox until it can be sent.
    But on another machine running Mavericks, I can still continue to send email.  The same is try from my iPhone 5S.
    On that machine running Mavericks the SMTP is configured as SSL and for "Usual Ports" (25, 465, 587) but THIS OPTION IS MISSING ON THE NEW VERSION.  On the new version I have tried configuring the port to 25 and then 465 and 587 with no success.  I have used the Network Utility to see if my provider is blocking me -- it is not.  I have no third-party software on this machine (anti virus).  I can receive email fine.  On the new Yosemitie Mail there are new checkbox options of Automatically check my settings and Allow unsecure connections.  I tried to uncheck SSL for SMTP but then it says it cannot send securely my passowrd and i need to check the option "Allow to send unsecurely".  I did that but the same error message keeps appearing.  So I have tried nearly everything I have been able to, all to no avail.  Please can somebody help?

    Thanks for your reply.  Yes, it is a POP account.  Incoming mail is fine.  My port for incoming is also 110.  But the outgoing port should be 587 (or 24, 465 and 587 as on Mavericks' "Usual Ports" option).  I am using the same configuration across three different devices and only the machine running Yosemite is having issues.  I notice in the new version of Mail there is no longer the "Usual Ports" option.  I am not sure this is the culprit or not.  But the fact is no matter how I configure it, it will not send mail for these particular servers.  I have multiple clients and only one is affected, meaning I can send email from other email addresses (different hosting contracts) on Yosemite but on this one particular one I cannot.

    "Your email account" means to tap on the name of your email account. Whatever it is listed as in the settings.
    In my mail settings, one of my email accounts is a Comcast account. I tap on the Comcast name and it brings up this window.
    Then I tap on the arrow under the Outgoing mail server smtp setting to get to the next window.
    In the resulting window, I then tap on the arrow next to the smtp server under the Primary Server setting.
    That brings up this window in which I check to make sure that my user name and password have been entered correctly. If those items are missing, enter them in the appropriate fields and then tap done.
