IPhoto images after burning a disc

I burned a part of last year's images to a disc but do not get the result I wished.
As seen in in the screenshot below, I selected two maps with albums. Map "Trips" (=n°4) contains 2 albums; the map "Friends" (=n°5) has 7 albums:
On the contrary after burning these 2 maps and 9 albums the disc displays only 'numbered' maps in consecutive colums:
What I expected and wished for were these maps to display the names of the selected maps/albums instead!
Column 4 should mention the maps original names "Trips" and "Friends", column 5 their corresponding albums (respectively 2 and 7), and column 6 their respective thumbnails.
How come and why those differences in data between my selection in the iPhoto Library and the ones on the burned disc? In any case I would like to understand the way a disc processes the selected images.
For sure it is highly impratical to have a disc processed and burned without the proper names identifiying the maps/albums. In any case iPhoto's own helpfiles are of no help on this issue.
As I am postponing the burning of other maps and albums I would truly appreciate any helpful reaction.
Would 'Toast' resolve my problem?
Thanks

Thanks TD and OT.
As the problem in itself is solved now, I'd still like to know how that burning process came to handle the data of my pics the way as displayed on my previous screenshots, and on the new screenshot shown below, which is so different from what a normal iPhoto screen shows.
Therefore still these questions:
1 What causes and is the technical meaning, of creating maps with numbers in a random ranking? As such they make no sense I understand. I mean: why not created as a series of consecutive numbers in sequence?
2 Why are "M(asters)", "P(reviews)" and "T(humbnails)" not identical, as their format varies? So, M and T contain 4 maps, and P contains 2, although all three relate to the same library? And also between M and T there are differences.
3 As far as I see, the first part of the figures in the sixth column is correctly related to the year of the images'   creation in 2012. What about the rest of these digit sequences? Theve have a sense, but what?
This is the new screenshot meant above:
Can you solve these? Thanks for reading (these dumb questions?).
Sincerely.

Media Browser won't open iPhoto images after 10.4.5 update!@#$%^!@#$
I could use iPhoto images in Media Browser before the update - is this happening to anyone else?
I have restarted... no change. Maybe I'll try opening and closing iPhoto once.

    Thanks for the reply.
I am on Pages 2 also... Hmmm, Perhaps I just don't know what I am doing - New to Pages. I see my Library, Last Roll and all my albums in the Media Browser but when I double click one of them nothing happens - Is there some other way to open them?

  • Pixelated images after burning

A friend of mine is using iDVD to create a slideshow of some photos. The photos look great, and after burning, when playing on either tv's or even other computers, no matter the screen size, all the images, as well as the text that pops up, is all pixelated. But on her computer, they look fine.
She is using RAW images, could this be the problem? She has tried burning for both Widescreen and Standard, with no fix.
I told her to use jpegs, haven't heard back if that worked or not, but thought I'd ask.
    Thanks!

You gave your friend excellent advice. Most Jpegs will work fine. If you wish to add RAW image files as well then I'd suggest doing so to the dvd-rom section of the dvd (and there is a preference you can select within iDvd that will automatically do this for you).

Whew, changes to iPhoto are ridiculous, but what OSX version are you on? 10.5.8?
Was any of iPhoto involved with an iPhone/iPad?
    I'd get GraphicConverter...

  • IPhoto images to external hard disc

I want to archive my raw and .jpg photos on external disk. I want them to be retrievable with any image program. Would exporting the entire library do this? I want them to be independent of any iPhoto dependency.
    Thanks.

  • After burning to dvd, using idvd, movie stops on frame but audio continues

After creating imovie which works perfectly, and also after trasferring to idvd works perfectly, i have problems when playing back dvd after burning to disc. The movie stops but the audio continues. I altered the clip but same thing happened in next clip after next burn. I don't think its a corrupt clip, but maybe something to do with WHEN it occurs in the movie. Any suggestions? After 4 goes and many hours burning I am stumped!

    Hi Tomma1
And welcome to apple discussions. It's good you chose to use 16 bit audio for all of your source material. And assuming this is accurate info .... From what I can tell, you are doing nearly everything correctly. However let me ask you a few questions.
    1. Are you using the boot volume (the hard drive where iDvd and Leopard are actually located) to encode your dvd (yes/no)?
    2. More importantly, does the disc image also go out of sync when played thru apple's dvd player app? or does it only happen on the burned dvd-r?
    3. Are you using Verbatim Dvd-R or an alternate brand? if it's the latter, then for troubleshooting purposes while on this forum; please use Verbatim Dvd-R. (it helps us eliminate additional / possible variables). Thereafter feel free to use the media that works best for you and your mac.
    4. Have you tried an alternate encoding setting other than pro quality setting? and do you get the same results?

  • Error message after burning

I keep getting an error message after I burn a song to CD, telling me it failed when it, in fact worked.  I have the latest iTunes software installed.

    doug,
i just read a post from bruce on this forum...you may have already seen....here is the copy:
Tried a few more things.....was out of ideas....then came across a post in this forum yesterday by "Ian C" who said he solved his burning problems by deinterlacing the project......decided to give it a try......after a week of trying to unsucessfully save a couple projects as disc images or burning to disc (tried 20 to 30 times at 3 hrs a shot with the 2 problem projects as well as more burning tests with other projects to compare to)...... and trying everything I could think of or find on this board .......I exported the project (full quality) to desktop, then deinterlaced it and reimported it to iMovie.....handed over to iDVD and tried to save as a disk image......worked like a charm.....then tried burning the same project from iDVD to disc......worked again. . I dont pretend to understand much about deinterlacing....but just wondering if anyone knows why it worked? These 2 problem projects (like my other test projects) were created in iMovie...exported to miniDV tape then imported from tape to iMovie...then handed off to iDVD. As I mentioned earlier...I had also tried exporting the project to desktop and reimporting to iMovie without success. I thought I've read in this forum that iMovie/iDVD automatically deinterlaces upon import? Strange that other than Ians post...hav'nt seen this suggestion as a fix for burning errors before in this forum. Is this a known possible fix for this problem? Anyways....at this point I'm just tired and glad something worked
    Good Luck!

  • Unable to select individual chapters after burning to DVD.

I created a wedding DVD with six different chapters in IDVD. Five are videos and one is a slide show. After burning the disc everything seemed fine except I am unable to select the chapters in my DVD player. Is this because I used a DVD+R DL for the blank media instead of a DVD-R DL? I had to use a DL disc because of the size.

    Hi
You are familiar with the - long going - iDVD BUG !
This been hunting us in several versions - and never been corrected.
To set it of - You make a movie in iMovie or FinalCut - With Chapters
Import it into a new project in iDVD
You see something in need of correcting
    Return to Video-editing program (application)
When back in iDVD - it will notice and ask You to either
    • Up-Date - or
    • Cancel
    NON WILL WORK
    Resulting DVD if made will
    • Play movie OK
    • All Chapters (Sceen Selections) - WILL START AS Chapter ONE !
    Medicine:
    • In iDVD Trash old movie - AND - Clear iDVD Assets - OR -
    • I favor - Create a Brand New iDVD PROJECT - and do not go back if not very important

  • Burn error (disc image)

All of a sudden, iDVD 5.0.1 won't burn a disc image. Gets to some point through the process (might be half way, might be right through), then says, "Burning completed. Some errors were found during the burn process". Doesn't create any file at all. Have tried buring a few different projects, with the same result.
    Any clues?

I am having exactly the same problem. My iDVD project started in iPhoto as a "saved slideshow". I have followed all of the steps as provided in two 3rd party manuals -- Jim Heid's "iLife '05" and David Pogue's "iMovie and iDVD 5 -- the Missing Manual". I have even done a "Project Archive" file as the basis to burn the iDVD to ensure that all the resources are together and available. My project consists of a 24 minute slideshow comprised of 230 photos all with "Burns Effect" panning and zooming and with a background music track. This was sent to iDVD from the iPhoto commands. The "Memories" theme was applied with text modification, changes to the font style text location and color, and changed audio selection. A second slideshow was added which consisted of an archive of all the photos used in the original, plus some added ones that were not used. This added a second button on the main menue with three sub-menues on a secondary menu, where the photos were automatically broken down by iDVD into three groups of photos of less than 100 each for a total playing time of approximately 6 minutes (1 sec per photo). The project was then saved and archived. Everything plays fine up to this point. The total memory of the saved archived project file is 2.86 Gb. The rendering and processing time for iDVD to create the disk image (.img) file exceeded 5 hours. I've tried to generate the disk image three times. Like Jim White, in one case after nearly 3 hours, the program put out an error message saying that errors had been encountered and the processing was being aborted. In the two other cases, the processing went the complete 5+ hours; gave a message that the "burning was finished, but that some errors had been found (on verification?) and produced NO FILE.
I am using a Mac G4/1.25 Ghz MDD , Mac OS-10.4.2 with 768Mb RAM and 13.5 Gb of available hard drive storage at the beginning of disk image processing; with iPhoto 5.0.4 and iDVD 5.0.1.
I have no experience with earlier versions of iDVD, so I can't say if this is a problem created by the 5.0.1 update, or the upgrade to Tiger. In any case, this is extremely poor error coding, especially considering the amount of time required for the image processing -- i.e.to state after 5 hours that an error was found which aborts or invalidates the burn without providing any clue as to what or where the error was -- this makes the entire software package of virtually NO VALUE.
    Your comments, please!

  • Movie clips in iDVD won't burn to disc image or a DVD

I created an iDVD project with a slide show created in iPhoto and some movie clips I took with a digital camera that were also in iPhoto. It works great in iDVD preview. When I burn a disc image or a DVD, the movie clips don't play while the slideshow is fine. There is also the clue in the menu of the project (only on the disc image or DVD, not the iDVD preview) that the printing of the names of the movie clips is clearly lighter than the name of the slideshow. During the burning to disc or DVD, one can see the movie clips supposedly being encoded and no error messages occur. This is a birthday present. Help, please.

It's become a moot point. It turns out that while I could navigate with the mouse with respect to the slide show (on both the disc image and the DVD I burned), I had to use the arrows and enter key to navigate and activate the movie clips. Once I figured out to use the arrow keys/enter key rather than the mouse, everything worked okay. Thanks for trying to help me!

  • My iDvd will not burn a disc...there is an encoding error that comes up after the title screen

Like it says in the title...My iDvd will not burn a disc...there is an encoding error that comes up after the title screen.
Here is the process that I have been doing.
    1. put in a blank disk and with the project already being done, i hit burn (not too hard).
    2. iDvd then starts to encode the title.
    3. After the title has been encoded, the burning stops and a message comes up saying "there was an error during encoding" and when ever I try to burn the same message keeps on coming up.
    I am running version 7.0.4
any help would be extremely helpful

    Try using this workflow:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the  File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
Then you can concentrate on the content if you can't create a disk image of the project.

  • IPhoto '11- super drive failed.  It won't burn to disc.

iPhoto '11 won't burn to disc...says super drive failed.  It goes through preparing to burn and then, immediately shows "finished" and spits out the disc.  I had just finished burning another successfully.  I talked with apple and we repaired permissions for iPhoto.  It worked fine during the test, but didn't after that.
    Thanks for any help.
    Sheila

Yes.  Successfully burned to a disc.  Not only is it doing that from the top tool bar menu, but the information it shows at the bottom of the screen (MG for the burn and how full the disc is) is not accurate.  The iPhoto info shows 3.7 MG for the pictures selected, but the burn info at the bottom shows some other amount and says not enough space on the disc.  And I'm using a 4.7MG DVD!  So, now, I'm just making a burn file on my desktop and burning the disc from there.  It works fine.  However, I'd still like my iPhoto program to be working the way it's supposed to, so I can use it that way.
